I would love for some support and I would love to support someone else to help me stay motivated.

I have a lot of weight to loose.

I am going to start tomorrow, gulp.

I eat so much, it is going to be a big change to reduce the food I eat, the next few days are going to be tough.

I'm in, I need to loose some weight and it's all about the rubbish i eat. So from tomorrow I with you, smaller portions, healthier food. Oh and getting off my arse and moving!

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 14/05/2012 23:15

Hi Kellamity.

I am going low sugar and low carb along with low volume of food.

It is about three days for the stomach to shrink right?

I had a great big last curry takeaway, tonight Blush.

I'm using myfitnesspal - only rule I've set myself is I must log everything. I can eat over my calories if I choose to, can stuff myself full of chocolate, but I HAVE TO LOG IT. Most days I manage this, and the act of logging it makes me think about what I'm eatnig, portion size etc. Most days I eat way under my calorie limit. It is working, using this, and another site (food focus) i've lost 3 stone since last summer and 2 of those were since January. It's been periods of rapid weight loss followed by me losing interest a bit and slipping back into my old ways. But I've always caught it and compensated, and the overall course has been downwards. I wish I'd done this 20 years ago.

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 14/05/2012 23:22

Hi StealthPolarBear.

I think I will have scrambled egg for breakfast tomorrow morning and a cup of coffee with milk.

I am going to start up swimming next week, I need to get my fitness up again.

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 14/05/2012 23:30

I think I will have a banana for a snack and do myself a can of tuna and some salad for lunch.

That should leave me with a some carbs for dinner. I have some stirfry ingredients so maybe some noodles with the veg.

trikken · 14/05/2012 23:41

yes please. I am about to attempt to lose a good couple of stones, I pick duringvthe day and portion size is massive. maybe logging is the way forward for me. plus actually exercising.

StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2012 23:46

Exercise is my downfall.can't bring myself to do it.

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 14/05/2012 23:50

Hi Trikken.

I can't do the drastic cut in food and restart exercise in one week, hence the one week break.

I don't know how I will adjust to eating so differently.

trikken · 15/05/2012 00:02

stealth I always tell myself I dont have time or that im too tired but its an excuse and I need to actually just do it.

im not sure the exercise thing will work straight away but cutting down on food is my immediate priority.

Windandsand · 15/05/2012 03:04

Would like to join you. Am using my fitness pal but keep forgetting to fill it in but I really like it. Might set an alarm on my phone. Need to lose about 10 kg and seem to have

Would like to join you. Am using my fitness pal but keep forgetting to fill it in but I really like it. Might set an alarm on my phone. Need to lose about 10 kg and seem to be stuck as no weight is coming off. Have to drink more water and eat no carbs plus exercise. Oh and no wine which will be thf hardest of all!! How long should it take me to lose it?

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 15/05/2012 09:03

Hi Windandsand.

I am going to use this thread as a tool personally. I am rubbish at remembering to write down what I am eating in a note book, fingers crossed writing it down here will work for me.

I had two scrambled eggs this morning, no milk as there was no toast. I had some diet coke with the eggs as I need a bit of energy and I have run out of coffee.

Today is going to be so hard, I have failed the past two years every time I have tired to go on a diet. I was quite good previously at being able to stick to healthy eating. I really have to do this as I have to take my weight down and stop eating in such an unhealthy way.

trikken · 15/05/2012 09:14

Im not off to a good start. I realise I dont even think about what Im about to eat. this morning I had a sausage roll and a biscuit for breakfast. So now Im still hungry and have added needless empty calories.

StealthPolarBear · 15/05/2012 09:16

Just log it and move on :)
You'll be horrified, you'll be a bit over at the end of the day, then start again tomorrow. What I awlays used to do though was think "oh well I've blown it, might as well stuff my face with whatever now - diet's off." Logging stops that.

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 15/05/2012 09:18

Trikken, guilty of that behaviour also. I have planned what I am going to eat today to make sure I don't carry on with unhelpfull behaviour.

Go and have a drink to fill you up and a piece of fruit with me later this morning, and move on from the mistake.

Thanks ASPIAGT. Finding this really helpful.

Stealth thats my usual thinking too.

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 15/05/2012 09:36

SPB, same thinking goes on here too normally.

Hi! I'm in, isn't it funny how a random group of people can all decide on exactly the same day, "That's it! I need to lose weight and I'm starting tomorrow!" I had bran flakes and a banana with semi skimmed milk for breakfast. I've been reading weightlossresources online, it's really informative & you don't have to pay anything, but if you subscribe it offers you more. One thing I took to heart from this month's newsletter was "Everyone has 15 minutes spare to walk a mile". I certainly do, most days, so aim to walk that mile! Wish me luck!

whyme2 · 15/05/2012 09:51

Hi everyone - I too am trying the "just eat less" diet. I am way over weight and need to lose some for health and other reasons.

This morning I had one slice of toast with peanut butter on, usually I can put away 3 or 4 or 5 or 6

So I told myself, one first and then if you really want more you can go back and make more. But I don't am too lazy

I have been following this method for a few weeks now and it is slowly making a difference.

It is hard when you are used to eating large amounts to suddenly stop. I try and focus on enjoying the food and remembering that eating more isn't always enjoyable because I end up kicking myself for it aswell as feeling overful and uncomfortable.

Learn to chalk the mistakes up to experience and continue as if they didn't happen.

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 15/05/2012 10:06

Hi CheapSkateMum, and it is not Monday either!

Hello WhyMe2, I eat lots too.

OP posts:
ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 15/05/2012 10:30

Tummy is beginning to rumble, I am going to have the banana soon. My stomach normally doesn't get a chance to be hungry Blush.

MsKittyFane · 15/05/2012 10:37

I want to start too but never done this before. Never dieted and I am very big :( scared to death TBH!!

MsKittyFane · 15/05/2012 10:42

My problem is I eat lots. I actually forget to eat and then get to a point where I have to eat there and then- Anything quick- sandwiches, crisps, cake, bread and lots of it!
Need to try and break this habit!
