I would love for some support and I would love to support someone else to help me stay motivated.

I have a lot of weight to loose.

I am going to start tomorrow, gulp.

I eat so much, it is going to be a big change to reduce the food I eat, the next few days are going to be tough.

I have kept busy, and had two bananas to keep me going I will make lunch in a little while, i don't know when i will get to eat it as there is someone coming over for a business thing and there will be no eating going on during that meeting. I will have to eat at some point before going out later in the afternoon.

It has really helped me to plan what I was going to eat mentally.

MsKittyFane, hello I am very big also, I keep telling myself that I am worth having good health.

I have just read whole thread and writing everything down is a good idea stealth I have actively resisted dieting for many many years- and feel panic stricken if I even think about cutting out my comfort food. That's not normal is it?!! Thing is, I have finally got to the point where I feel unhealthy and unwell. I eat hardly any nutritious foods.
BUT... This morning I have prepared a variation on my usual bolognaise for later- thought I'd might as well start with a familiar food!!
1 pack of Quorn mince
1 onion
1 courgette
1 red pepper
Mushrooms
3 tins of tomatoes
Herbs
1 stock cube
All chopped up, mixed with Quorn in pan.
It's been cooking for ages on a low heat and the tomato sauce has thickened without the need for purée.
Not allowing myself to snack today.
Baby steps!!! :)

whyme2 · 15/05/2012 13:51

MsKitty I understand your panic. Sometimes I have a little panic when we are staying somewhere overnight that I won't be able to eat when i want (or how much). It seems so silly to admit it but that's how it is sometimes for me. The comfort of food is so alluring.
Hence why I am about 6stone overweight Sad

Good luck for today. Smile

MsKittyFane · 15/05/2012 14:07

whyme I have the same amount of weight to lose :( I often go and look around the shops, there is a huge Evans store where I go and although I can find plenty of clothes that fit, they don't suit me and I feel uncomfortable in that way- I usually go and console myself by buying chocolate or having lunch out!! THAT has to stop!! :o
I need to hold on to the fact that if I grit my teeth and go for it, one day I'll be able to shop in other places and will enjoy buying clothes instead of chocolate!!

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 15/05/2012 14:12

Well if we are confessing. Nothing fits me, and I refuse to buy any more clothes, I am recycling the same pairs of trackie bottoms at present continually and avoiding going places that need me to dress up as I only have two outfits that fit me for nice occasions that I recycle.

I am having the low fat/low sugar/low carb diet as that is the diet I was told to do pre-op for two weeks minimum. I was also told to loose weight for the operation to make it easier for the surgeon, and for my own recovery etc. I waited until I got my surgery date before starting this diet Blush as it seemed more real when I got the date. I should really have been loosing weight before, still I am doing it now.

I'm in ! I have never had to try and lose weight before but since our office relocating and me not being able to cycle to work I have put weight on. I am going to buy smaller plated for DD and I as if we use full-size dinner plated I tend to fill it and then feel like I have to eat it all.
I don't want to ban certain foods as this will just make me crave it more but I am not going to buy alcohol to drink with dinner for a month.
I am also going to join the gym at the weekend.
Just remember if you have a blip tomorrow is a new day and therefore a new start so don't give up, carry on Grin
I log my food on www.fatsecret.com

moomoo1967 · 15/05/2012 14:19

Ban not buy alcohol lol

moomoo1967 · 15/05/2012 14:20

oooh ignore that last post I was right the first time Sad

MsKittyFane · 15/05/2012 14:22

Oh go on then, I'll confess to never going to any wedding/ party I have been invited to for the last 20 years. I also avoid outdoory things because I look ridiculous!!! I am not some sort of recluse, I work 4 days a week and have to talk in front of a lot of people as part of my job but when it comes to 'occasions' I just can't do it :(
How overweight are you OP? Good luck with your weight loss plan :)

MsKittyFane · 15/05/2012 14:25

To add to my last question , I have 6+ stone to lose !! Blush]
:o

trikken · 15/05/2012 14:28

I have put on weight rather than losing it after having dd two and a half years ago. Am worried I still look a bit pregnant. (not possible tho. Dh has has the snip)

trikken · 15/05/2012 14:30

plus weighed myself and need to lose more like four stone rather than two.

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 15/05/2012 14:35

I was weighed at hospital, so I will go by their records for the weight loss. I have a lot to loose as well MsKittyfane. I am actually having a gastric band fitted, I have to loose weight on my own before surgery and I gather I will be by myself until the fill on the band is the right level which could be months after surgery, so a long battle against hunger until the fill is right. Once the fill is right on the band, it will send a message to my brain to say I have had enough and physically I should not want to eat as much at that point. I will always have the emotional need for food, band or no band as a life time challenge.

OP posts:
MsKittyFane · 15/05/2012 14:56

Asilly You should be proud of yourself for taking this big step! Good luck, we need to try and keep posting to help motivate ourselves.
Did your doctor recommend the band or did you ask for it?

cheapskatemum · 15/05/2012 16:05

Hi Asillyphase, I've eaten a small size sushi (have been eating the larger ones recently) a Nak'd cashew bar, an apple, then a wholemeal roll with mackerel pate & green salad. I have the same problem of not knowing when I'm going to eat this evening. It's the same every Tuesday: I attend a support group from 6-7. Because it's rush hour, it takes me an hour to get there, so I have to leave at 5. It lasts about an hour and a half on average, then a 40 min drive home. So I can't eat between 5 & about 8.30pm, by which time I'm absolutely starving because I always eat my main meal between those hours. Even worse, the kids like me to bring a take away home with me because we live out in the sticks so don't get take aways otherwise, so I have to sit next to gorgeous-smelling fast food all the way home. Well, you can guess what happens the minute i get it inside the house!

Hi evryone else! I used to get that panicky feeling too, not so bad now since I lost 22lb with Tesco Diets a couple of years ago (have put some back on since)

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 15/05/2012 19:14

MKF, Dr, I was very happy to go for it.

CSM, hope you found a way to eat.

Well I kind of failed a bit, though I ate far less than normal.

I had the two scrambled eggs for breakfast.

2 bananas late morning

Salad and chicken for lunch, not tuna.

I felt faint and wasn't anyway near being able to get home to eat and at the cadburys caramel in my bag Blush

Veg and noodle stirfry for dinner.
Crusty bread roll and butter after dinner as made myself too small a portion Blush.

Yogurt for afters.

It is the first time in ages I have been hungry, it felt ok to be hungry.

I need to make sure I take fruit out with me in my bag if it is too long between meals next time.

OP posts:
trikken · 15/05/2012 19:57

I was the same. I kind of failed but ate a far lot less. I suppose its a start though. Made me realise how much I do eat. I needed to eat more fruit and veg as I let myself down by having two jammy dodgers after tea as I still felt hungry, I should have done more vegetables with my tea to fill me up.

cheapskatemum · 15/05/2012 20:02

Asillyphase, that sounds like a good day over all! It was just the one Caramel bar, yes? And you've learnt from that mistake and have come up with a better solution, so result!

As you can see from the fact that I'm on MN, I didn't go to the support group tonight, so have eaten. It was a vegetarian ready meal & I worked out the calories in it: 360, but the portion was tiny! I'm sure I'll feel hungry later, so have some veggies roasting in the oven in case. There are nuts in the house though, so I hope I can make the sensible choice!

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 15/05/2012 21:13

I love roast veg, I am going to do a big selection of them on Sunday now you reminded me.

Two jammie dodgers is not too bad it's better than the chocolate and roll and butter extra I had not planned for.

I say I ate a cadbury's caramel bar, well it was two of those easter bunnies in a pack cadburys caramel, I assume it is about the same as a bar. I was going to have one, I was still feeling weak after the first so I ate the second Blush.

Right tomorrow I am going to have scrambled eggs again.

Fruit mid morning.

Umm lunch I am going out for lunch tomorrow, so I am not sure what I will have. I plan to pick something protein and veg and no carbs.

I am going to need more fruit mid afternoon.

Dinner will depend on use by dates, it will most likely be another veg noodle stir fry, with chicken this time, and I will have to do myself a larger portion this time.

What are your plans for tomorrow?

OP posts:
MsKittyFane · 15/05/2012 21:27

Today (at home)
Toast & marmite 2 (mini warburtons) medium sliced
Banana
Ham & 4 crackers
Muller light
2nd Banana
Spaghetti & Quorn Bol.
Tomorrow (at work)
Cereal and milk
Spaghetti & Quorn leftovers
Rice with mixed veg and chicken
Muller light & rasberries

Do you think that's too much? I'm useless at this.
Feeling nervy tonight without my comfort food :)

MsKittyFane · 15/05/2012 21:30

How do you make your noodle stir fry Asilly?
Veg & noodles &? Soy sauce?

MsKittyFane · 15/05/2012 21:33

BTW, I don't think it sounds like you've failed at all! You are eating less than before and that's what counts. I am actually thinking about what I eat for the first time ever !! :o

timetosmile · 15/05/2012 21:40

Marking my place.

'Just' a 1-1.5stone to lose which has crept on in the last decade after the children...

I am going to use this as an accountability thread if that's OK.

A lot of you sound like you are being far stricter that me, tbh I know that I don't have to make a huge amount of change to my diet to lose the first 1/2-1 stone..just to stick to my guns and eat more healthily.

Toast and marmite for breakfast, flapjacky-snack bar type thing for elevensies...but enjoyed it sitting on a park bench with DS on my day out, so companionable rather than craving!
Cheese and ham toastie what, no crisps? and fruit salad for lunch, chicken and rice and veg for tea and fruit for afters.

Highpoint of the day was to avoid the munchies making the packed lunches at 7pm surely its not just me? and have just had a bit more marmite on toast.

Made a beef salad roll for lunch at work tomorrow, will take lots of fruit and no crisps, and spag bol for tea.

trikken · 15/05/2012 21:44

MsKittyFane that sounds about right to me. Just being wary about portion size.

whyme2 · 15/05/2012 22:14

ASPIAGT you sound like you are doing well actually. You have eaten healthily, listened to your body eaten smaller portions than normal. A good result I think.

It is a loooonnnng evening without some snacking though.
