BIWI's Bootcamp - Week 3 Weigh In - New Starters Welcome!

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 29/04/2012 17:52

So our two weeks of Bootcamp seem to have gone well, with some spectacular losses. Between us I think we have lost enough to make 3 or 4 new MNetters!

It's up to you now how you want to proceed. If you have a lot of weight to lose, or you like the strictness of it, you can carry on with Bootcamp. New joiners should start with Bootcamp anyway.

If you are nearly at your target, or you were finding Bootcamp a bit too restrictive, then you can move to Bootcamp Light - or you could do a hybrid of the two, which is what I am doing - Bootcamp Monday to Thursday and Bootcamp Light Friday to Sunday (which means that you can include alcohol at the weekend!)

As a reminder, or for those who are new, these are the Bootcamp rules:

1.Eat three, proper meals a day
You must eat breakfast. It doesn?t have to be a lot, but you must have something. For the rest of the day, if you?re eating enough food and you are in ketosis then you shouldn?t be hungry. But if you are hungry, eat something. (Hard boiled eggs make a great snack)

2.Avoid processed food, and focus on pure, natural protein as the basis for your meals ? meat/fish/eggs.
Things like sausages, ham, bacon, pre-prepared burgers etc should be avoided as much as possible. Avoid foods marketed as low carb, e.g. Atkins Daybreak bars.

3.Maximise your fat intake.
Fry in butter, add butter to vegetables, eat salad with a home-made vinaigrette dressing (not made with balsamic vinegar though), add mayonnaise where you can (just check the carb count on your mayo first). Eat fattier cuts of meat ? e.g. pork belly, roast chicken with the skin on and/or eat the fat off your lamb chops. Absolutely no low fat/light foods of any kind!

4.Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food ? this is where your carbs should come from.
But choose only those vegetables that are on the allowed list (see below). You don?t have to weigh/count carbs ? this is one of the great joys of this WOE (way of eating), but if you?re new to low carbing it can be helpful to weigh your portions of veg in the early days, just so that you know how many carbs are in the sort of portions that you like to eat

5.Minimal dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited).
If you are still drinking tea/coffee with milk or cream, try to restrict yourself to max 2 cups per day. You may eat cheese, but only in small amounts.

6.You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.
The more weight you have to lose, the more water you should drink

7.No alcohol

8.No fruit

9.No nuts/seeds

10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

And this is the allowed list of veg:

Don?t eat any veg unless it?s on this list, and try and focus on eating those that are under 3g carbs per 100g:

Veg (raw)Carbs per 100g
Mushrooms0.4
Watercress0.4

Weighing in at 199.6 lbs. So a loss of 8 lbs in the first week and 4.8 lbs in the second week. Total loss 12.8 lbs - oh so nearly a full stone!

Will be sticking to bootcamp rules for a bit longer as I've still got a couple of stone to lose. But feeling positively slinky compared to a couple of weeks ago. Smile

ToryLovell · 30/04/2012 09:37

Marking my place to see all the fabulous weight losses.

Thanks to a series of family birthdays the last week I fell well and truly off the wagon, but will climb back on this week.

DoUntoOtters · 30/04/2012 09:55

Signing in with this morning's weight of 10stone 11.5lbs.

I have lurked on your previous threads while following a less strict régime, and I have lost 6.5lbs in 3 weeks. My ultimate goal is 9.10 - or anywhere in the 9s. Grin

WillfSelll · 30/04/2012 10:16

Let's say I'm 100. I'm aiming for 90 in 2 weeks, and 80 in 4 weeks... Because that is when I have to get my, ahem, wedding dress altered.

Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 30/04/2012 10:42

Woo hoo!

Right, feeling more positive again. Has taken me 3 sodding weeks to lose the 4lb I gained following birthday indulgence. Loathe losing pounds again - but at least back on the downward slope again now.
Well done BIWI for keeping everyone motivated.

ilovemyteddy · 30/04/2012 11:11

Brilliant weight losses, losers!

Yes BIWI I promise to drink more water. I had a manic Saturday where I ate bugger all and drank even less so I guess that's catching up with me. Just want to get under 190 and get to half my target weight loss.

Ah well, onwards and downwards!

Fava · 30/04/2012 11:13

I'm on a roll this week. I've lost another pound, that's 5lb altogether. :)

ANTagony · 30/04/2012 11:16

Repost from the old thread to get my weigh in in the right place....

Going to keep roughly to boot camp rules for now. Very pleased with the start loss and this WOE with DH supporting me its maintainable. If I can maintain 1-2lb loss per week I should be 14st by the summer hols, 13 weeks, which is my next target.

Weigh in for me 15st 5lb
DH 16st 8lb

Between us we've lost equivalent to one of the DC's in two weeks!

I did one small cheat, my first, last night and had a single square of 85% coco chocolate (highest coco I could get locally). 1.9g carbs in that square but it was lovely.

LackaDAILYcarb · 30/04/2012 11:18

Weighing in at 12st 9lbs this morning.

Restarting bootcamp and determined to do better this time!

GreatEXPATations · 30/04/2012 11:24

Yo-yoing rather as on feast/ famine -intermittent fast -low carb -boot camp- lite WOE. From low of 60k last week ( 9 st 6 lbs) am now up to 61k 9st 8.2. Can't seem to get below 60-61 and am c tall so maybe I need to be realistic about what is achievable, would be great psychologically tho to hit and sustain 59k. In danger of binge/ purge cycle to try and hit this, doesn't feel healthy, think might try to wean self of weighing and rule-abiding quite so much as getting obsessed!

vnmum · 30/04/2012 11:27

well I gained the sodding 2lbs I had lost yesterday overnight. Must be water retention so don't worry BIWI, I'm going to drink, drink, drink today.

So starting weight for bootcamp lite 10st 2lb, not much different to my start weight for bootcamp 2 weeks ago Angry

LackaDAILYcarb · 30/04/2012 11:31

I have a wedding in 10 weeks time and would like to be at or even below the 11 stone mark for it, so I can fit into some of my lovely party clothes, or even buy something new!

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 30/04/2012 11:31

Signing in for first-time boot camp arse-kicking.
I thought the 3/4 of a stone I put on on holiday (damn you American tasty but carby food...) would drop straight back off, but no, it hasn't.

Monday weight: 11st 3b

shutterbabe · 30/04/2012 11:31

weighing in at 10 stone 10 :(
I would love love to be 9 stone something, but for a more realistic loss I'd be happy at 10 to 10.4

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 30/04/2012 11:32

Off to get myself a pint of water as a good start.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 30/04/2012 11:36

GreatEXPATations

Obviously the choice of WOE is up to you - but could it possibly be that intermittent fasting isn't the best choice? Having to have two VLC days is probably encouraging you to be more obsessive about your food, in an effort to work so hard to keep your calories down.

Why don't you just eat low carb all the time, and consider that as a 'normal' way of eating, thus not being so obsessive about it?

OP posts:
EatenAllTheEasterEggs · 30/04/2012 11:57

Right I weighed in at 12st 5 this morning so I gained a pound this week after a 6 pound loss the week before. SO total loss of 5ibs.

I know what I need to do - completely abstain from alcohol. It's the only way for me to lose. No point in being good during the week and then letting things slide at the weekend IT JUST DOES NOT WORK! Only when I have got down to the weight I want can I indulge again.

I am also reading Wheatbelly and the writing is on the wall for wheat. Not that I've been eating any lately anyway but this book just reinforces why I should steer clear. But being the warped person I am I am onto my 5th slice of toast this morning. I think I might just be saying goodbye and I want to test a suspicision I have that wheat makes my wrist joints hot and mildly achey and sometimes my ankles too.

Will eat lightly for the rest of the day and then get back on the wagon again. Am not giving up.

Well done to all the losers Smile

GreatEXPATations · 30/04/2012 12:02

Hi BIWI, yes you may be right tho I'm not doing consecutive VLC days .. I do more or less low carb most of the time, aim for 80% of time. Intermittent fasting feels good and an effective solution for me but appreciate not for everyone. Think I just need everything to settle down a little over next couple of weeks..
Worth reading Briffa on intermittent fasting, also Marksdailyapple if asnyone's interested.
And well done on all that weightloss everyone!

LackaDAILYcarb · 30/04/2012 12:34

halfspam, I LOVE your NN :o

mummyduff · 30/04/2012 13:05

Fantastic weight losses everybody and I know I've said it before but Thanks BIWI for all your encouragment.

Have a lovely day all x

Schnarkle · 30/04/2012 13:20

Love this bootcamp, it's the only thing that has worked to keep me on the straight and narrow for 2 years. The baby weight excuse can only last so long.

After 2 weeks on bootcamp I'm now 151.6.

Keep going everyone Smile

WizzyBizzy · 30/04/2012 13:21

Hello losers! I'm weighing in at 9st 7lb - no change since Thursday (although given cheats over last few days I wasn't expecting to lose any more!).

I'm going to try and carry on with full bootcamp, although I've already had a cheat this morning so perhaps light is more realistic. Will see how I go.

Good luck everyone!

WillfSelll · 30/04/2012 13:25

Lunch and breakfast done and dusted and only one apple on the slightly carby side so far. Hot smoked salmon was lovely, now planning my shop this evening to include lots of salad leaves, non starchy veg and cream!

Will boil some eggs and will also buy some pre-cooked crispy bacon rashers from Sainsbos as these are my emergency snacks of choice.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 30/04/2012 13:26

Thanks, mummyduff! But honestly, this is helping me just as much as it's helping everyone else.

I don't know how many years it is since I weighed 9 stone something - it's probably about 4 years ago now? And I was beginning to despair of ever losing the weight.

I went shopping on Saturday for some new clothes, and suddenly realised that I can now choose completely different things - slim and close-fitting tops, rather than looking for something more smock like to cover up the bulges! It was a lovely feeling. (Especially as I've still got more weight to lose - it can only get even better!)
