BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 20/04/2012 07:40

So it's Friday. The start of the Dangerous Days, otherwise known as the weekend.

Can I remind everyone that there is to be no alcohol during bootcamp

Catsmamma · 21/04/2012 11:52

hah...i was in to confess and beg forgiveness, but I see Other People had friday off too! :D

Dh and I went to M&S....had vouchers to spend, so we had the chicken and chorizo paella meal for two....was lush! :D

Back on the straight and narrow today though, scrambly for breakfast, and I must get another glass of water!

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 21/04/2012 11:57

Morning all!

I had the headache from hell this morning, around 6.00am, which just goes to show how much of a lightweight I have become, and serves me right. That despite alternating wine with water, and drinking half a litre of water before I went to bed.

And the scales showed a gain this morning - but only 0.25lb, so it was better than it could have been should have been

I'm out again tonight, but will not be drinking. Because I want the scales to show a bit more of a loss before tomorrow's weigh-in, and because I have to be at the gym at 7.30 tomorrow.

Morning all. Weighed myself this morning and I'm down to 9.4. That is a loss of 8lbs since Monday. That can't be right, I'm a bit worried to be honest. Perhaps it'll remain the same on the second week - to even out. I was hoping to lose 7lbs in the entire fortnight, not 8lbs in 5 days! And yes, I have been eating plenty!

LackaDAILYcarb · 21/04/2012 12:03

Well despite my cheating yesterday, and then later winning the staring competition with the crime egg (that little sod won't be bothering me again, oh no Wink), and getting my period this morning, I am a further 0.3kg down, so that makes 1.6 altogether which is grand :)
And my period kind of snuck up on me with no raging PMT for the first month in a looooong time, which is also a result, though probably explains the urge for sweet things.

And I didn't have any wine , as I realise it was just a habit thing; have a good day, celebrate with wine.

Late breakfast of mushroom omelette
Lunch will be avocado salad
Dinner will be stir fry of some description

QueenStromba, sorry for sounding so randy yesterday. Reading your post, a lot of your symptoms sound very much like mune, especially the stinky farts; that's the first sign I have that I have been poisoned. It would be worth you getting tested for CD, but you would need to eat wheat again for a time or it'll be a false negative. Coeliac UK say that as many as 1 in 100 are coeliacs, though the official figure is much lower (around 1 in 1000 iirc) as many remain undiagnosed. Have a look at www.coeliac.org.uk for more info.

Brilliant, TSJ!

Randy, Lacka?! Grin

LackaDAILYcarb · 21/04/2012 12:09

That's brilliant Shape :o

Must drink more water; I have slipped back into my evil Pepsi max drinking ways Blush

TheShapeJaper · 21/04/2012 12:12

So you think that loss is ok? I have been trying to lose these stubborn lbs for over a year and now they have just vanished what seems like over night! Really really hope I can keep it off.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 21/04/2012 12:14

Ah - and therein lies the Actual Difficulty.

Losing the weight is one thing, but keeping it off is something entirely different. That's why I constantly talk about this being a Way of Eating.

Once you get to goal, the occasional 'slip' is OK, but if you suddenly re-introduce bread, pasta, rice etc regularly, then it's much harder to maintain the weight.

Morning ladies or should I say afternoon, I have had bad night with youngest DS and feel shocking as well as very moody!

Must try to be in better mood as DH has a rare weekend off Smile

My weight stayed the same today so still a 6lb loss.
Had mushrooms and egg for breakfast and a bacon omelette for lunch. Gallons of water as still feel v thirsty.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 21/04/2012 12:28

Where is your veg, mummyduff?!

OP posts:
TheShapeJaper · 21/04/2012 12:35

Made the asparagus fritatta yesterday, how delicious was that?!

Easypeasypie · 21/04/2012 12:51

Radio silence that's really helpful thanks - am going to start now

Thanks

Onthecouch · 21/04/2012 13:02

Wow wow Shape!

I need to go back and read all previous advice from BIWI and others. I think I do not have enough fat. I have been having lots of lc veg, eggs, chicken and fish, 3 Lt of water ( I did slip a bit yesterday) but have lost only 2 lbs. I've not been having any butter and cook in olive oil or sunflower oil. I also have 2 cups of coffee with little skimmed milk, which I can't skip.
What am I doing wrong?

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 21/04/2012 13:04

Fat. Fat. Fat.

If you're eating chicken and fish chances are you've been eating lean protein only. On this WOE (way of eating) you really need to eat fat. This is not a low fat plan! Add butter to your vegetables, use cream in sauces (if you can tolerate dairy) and include fattier meats and fish in your diet.

OP posts:
BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 21/04/2012 13:05

And you say you're eating 'lots of lc veg' - obviously low carb veg/salad is key, but how much is 'lots' and what types of veg? It can be easier than you realise to end up eating a lot of carbs if you're eating lots of veg.

Why not post the last couple of days' worth of meals/drinks and see if we can help?

OP posts:
Onthecouch · 21/04/2012 13:15

Will I lose weight if I start eating more fat? Seems counterintuitive.

The other thing of course is that I am not exercising at all (hence the name). Need to gather courage to rip the cover off Shred DVD.

Onthecouch · 21/04/2012 13:22

Ok, so yesterday I had
B: 2 eggs omlette with smoked salmon, and spinach and some cheese
L: Stirfry of beans, courgette, with 1 thigh tandoori chicken
D: same as Breakfast
S: quite a bit of cheese. Also had half a pear and 4 strawberries(I know!)
2 cups of coffee with skimmed milk.

As yesterday was not good, had a cocktail and two spoonfuls of choc cake (I know that shouldn't have happened) but didnt do this on any other days.

BettyBathroom · 21/04/2012 13:36

SharonGless I have done my low carbing back to front. I started 3 months ago on a low calorie diet - with the aim of upping my protein, gradually I starting reducing my carbs - this was when I lost my sugar cravings, then I dropped wheat completely - (just to check I wasn't sensitive to it) and then I joined Biwi's Bootcamp and took the plunge from calorie counting to full-on low carbing with high fat foods. Having read more about this way of eating I'm convinced it's the right thing to do for us as a family.

Must admit I was pretty aprehensive posting that I had changed the dc's diets (aged 8 & 10) - I did mention to one person in real life that I was changing their refined carbs to the unrefined wholewheat/brown version and her reaction was quite strongly negative - she told me that what I was doing was dangerous - and that I'd be feeding my dcs too much fibre and that was against Gov recommendations - couldn't find anything official suggesting this...so decided it was a load of nonsense.

Gincognito Thank you for the link - will have a look at it later.

vnmum · 21/04/2012 13:37

betty how do you make bread without sugar? I thought the sugar was needed for the yeast to ferment. I make my own too so am genuinely interested.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 21/04/2012 13:43

Onthecouch - well, looking at yesterday, I'm not surprised you've only lost 2lbs. Sorry.

The pear will have been very high in carbs (pears are 10g carbs per 100g), and on top of that were the strawberries. All fruit is out in bootcamp!

I don't know what cocktail you had, but chances are it had something sweet in it. And then there was the chocolate cake ...

I know that you said it was only yesterday that you did this, but that's unfortunately one of the key things about this WOE - it's not like calorie counting where you can compensate for 'bad' behaviour one day by 'being good' on another day.

Eating too many carbs will sabotage your best efforts.

You may find that you're also eating too much cheese. This is because some people find that dairy can impede their weight.

Read back through all the bootcamp threads, so that you can find out more about low carbing. It is important that you understand the thinking and the science behind it so that you know what you are supposed to do/not do.

VNMum I put 1 1/2tsp yeast, with 260g strong wholemeal - the Canadian one and 240 strong white, a swig of olive oil - usually around 40g, generous pinch of maldon sea salt and 360ml water from the tap. Set the breadmaker for wholemeal - dough only. Then take it out, knock it back and put it in a bread tin flour top of loaf & cover loosely with clingfilm...then leave on worktop to rise for around 6 hours and then bake - I don't have an especially warm part of the kitchen and we're happy to take our time with bread - it's meant to develop a better flavour and texture.

Will try and get hold of some Vit C to help the dough to rise, I've also heard of some people putting tomato puree into the bread for the yeast to feed on - but that's going to affect the flavour and colour a little. Yeast will grow in flour/water mixture without sugar - that how I used to make my sour dough culture, it just takes more time - play about with different flours - it might work just to leave it overnight.

MNP · 21/04/2012 15:04

Will weigh in tomorrow but expect virtually no loss as i dont think my fat levels are high enough

ShirtyKnot · 21/04/2012 15:32

Hello all.

I wanted to talk a bit more about the horrible time I'm having with exercise! HELP!! I went for a run this morning and it was even worse than the run before, it was fricking awful, couldn't even run for 8 minutes, let alone bloody 20. Gah! It's frustrating as my fitness level was really starting to improve so much and I feel really knocked back...

Now, this is possibly partially in my head - and I've now tried running in the morning after breakfast (disaster!) and in the evening before my dinner and both times were HORRID! - but I really think my old body is having trouble without the carb energy and glycogen stores. Sad

I spoke to my friend who's a fitness instructor last night and she told me if I'm exercising daily then I really should be shoving a few carbs in there but...I DON'T WANNA!

I'm going swimming tomorrow, and for another run and I wonder how my stamina will be with that - and then body pump on Monday...

If I push myself will I get through this wall do you think?

Sorry, mammoth whiny post, feel free to scroll past it!

vnmum · 21/04/2012 15:57

thanks betty
