Morning!

Too early for a weekend....but I had to share - I hit my final target this morning - I have lost a further 1lb - that's 4lbs in total - in 5 days!!!! Should I celebrate with a Mars Bar?Wink Think I'm going to stick at it for the rest of boot camp....with a few cheaty glasses of red. I really did not believe this would work.

Biwi Thanks you are God!

ohforfoxsake · 21/04/2012 07:55

Well done Betty! Hold off on that mars bar! (it will taste far too sweet now and you won't enjoy it, but will eat it anyway, and then beat yourself up for eating it) Wink

Despite obeying the rules yesterday and being unhappy but ploughing on ahead, today I find i put a sodding pound on this morning! Kinda takes the shine off the 5 pounds i've lost this week. That's the trouble with weighing in daily Sad

Now I'm an bit Angry.

FauxFox · 21/04/2012 08:06

I was good yesterday on food but did have one glass of red wine. I'll try and drive tonight so I only have a glass instead of a bottle so that will more than even it out Grin

Planned food today - B: Eggs and mushrooms L: Curried cauli soup D: Out so prob prawns then steak and salad.

And a gallon or so of water!

I need to go shopping again, the fridge is rather bare and that is dangerous!

Lookingforhelpwithdecision · 21/04/2012 08:09

I haven't lost any, but then I am still having the odd glass of red and am eating berries. Have eaten rather alot of cream this week, don't think that is helping. Would love to get to 9 stone (currently 9 4).

DH did a lovely chicken with philly, spinach, leek and cabbage dish last night, will probably have that for lunch.

Don't know yet for dinner which is also dangerous! And I too need to go shopping AGAIN!!

doradoo · 21/04/2012 08:26

So yummy tea last night - grilled while trout with almond butter, creamed leeks and spinach and broccoli with almond butter and white wine.

one thing I was really surprised at was how sweet tasting the veggies were - completely threw me.

I know I've had a real problem with carb/sugar addiction in the past but hopefully as I've had a good week and generally stuck to the plan bar wine and nuts I've broken the back of the dependence.

I've only lost 600g to date but am sleeping better when dd allows and seem to have loads more energy. Not sure about being in ketosis as don't have the metallic taste etc.

Also wierdly my sense of smell seems heightened and despite having a fair bit of butter, cheese and cream - don't seem to be having the nasal congestion issues I expected as I was once told I had a dairy intolerance.

Big thanks BWMBO for putting this all together and making it easy to follow and stick to.

MNP · 21/04/2012 08:34

Morning.

Sea fishing today.

B:meds and more meds
S:corned beef
L:salmon in mayo with a spring onion and pate with cucumber and red pepper
D:not decided

FauxFox · 21/04/2012 08:43

When's the next weigh in is it tomorrow or Monday?

BettyBathroom · 21/04/2012 08:48

Ohforfoxsake - 4lbs is still bloody brilliant - I was joking about the Mars Bar - I used to have massive cravings for sweet stuff and low carbing has knocked that on the head. I now dislike the smell of the treat cupboard - it's full of Easter Eggs. I still have pudding sometimes (not during bootcamp!) when we eat out but that's it....I know it sounds overly dramatic but I almost feel liberated from an addiction, that and sleeping normally again means low carbing will be a permanent change to my diet.

I've never known a diet to have such a dramatic impact on my wellbeing.

SharonGless · 21/04/2012 09:17

Morning all
Just had a yummy omlette/frittata with spring onions green peppers mushrooms and cheese for breakfast.

Betty - I know what you mean about being liberated. Normally I would be craving sweet things but feel great about the fact that I too can open the treat cupboard and not crave anything. Also DH was eating crisps last night and I didn't feel the need at all to pinch a few as I was still stuffed from tea. I did point out hte benefits to him too so I may convert him yet.

Having read the Harcombe ebook I am also keen to change the childrens diet but one step at a time.

Weigh in is Sunday and Thursday I believe

Ohforfoxsake - I weigh daily as well but find if I have put on then it has made me cut down on dairy and just refocus. 4lbs is fantastic though

Have spinach soup for lunch and chicken salad for tea which have already made as I am working tonight

smokinaces · 21/04/2012 09:39

Morning. Weighed the same this morning, so hoping for a loss tomorrow - normally I stall for a couple of days then drop.
Bacon, eggs, mushrooms and a tomato for breakfast. Couldn't finish the eggs.
Fingers crossed for a good weekend!! (No alcohol here, grin, halo)

Jacaqueen · 21/04/2012 09:42

Scales up 1lb this morning. Not worried as I have not been to the toilet for a few days and I have been eating loads.

Going to cut out the cheese and cream and see what the scales say in a few days.

MrsNouveauRichards · 21/04/2012 09:57

Morning Losers :o

B - flaxseed pancake (don't ask)
L - ham, eggs and tomato (i think)
D - meal out at the Indian (yay!)

I am really craving chicken for some reason!

BettyBathroom · 21/04/2012 10:12

SharonGless dh is already fully committed to low carbing and we have changed the children's diet too - how could we not after being so convinced ourselves.

They had a conventionally healthy diet - loaded with carbs. I have changed all their starchy carbs to wholegrain, I was met with an initial resistence but when they tasted the rice and pasta they said there wasn't much difference. I make my own bread and they were pleasantly surprised by the 50/50 loaf I made, without sugar this time - I will gradually increase the wholemeal percentage - probably try spelt too. I have made a deal with them that if they improve the healthy side of their eating they can continue to eat some sweet treats - despite what I feel about the junk, it is part of childhood. I have also agreed with them that we will have white carbs when children visit on playdates - oh the shame of healthy eating!Wink I have upped the fat content of their meals, and after being previously lax on their preference for skimmed milk we are working our way back up to full cream milk. They are enjoying butter in their boiled eggs and double cream in their soup. And they love cheese and avocados and are getting plenty of veg - fruit is not a popular choice anyway.

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 21/04/2012 10:25

Down to 10 stone 8.5 this morning, which is good (2.5 lbs lost) and only half a pound to lose before I get to my starting weight. Pah.

FiddleDeFat · 21/04/2012 10:25

Morning all. Yeah to all the losers and boo to all the alkies! My halo is positively gleaming and can report a good loss. I actually stated this woe the Wed before bootcamp and have lost 10 lbs in 10 days. Grin Mind you, I'm a heavier lump than most of you to start with so it should come off a bit faster, at least in the early days.

And a question about calories and proportions. I've been using myfitnesspal to keep track of what Ive been eating and I'm finding that I generally eat between 1000 and 1300 calories per day. I've got my goals set at 55% fat in my diet but seem to be going way over this. Just wondering if this was in line with everyone else and what others have set the food goals at?

SharonGless · 21/04/2012 10:27

Betty how long have you been low carbing and how old are your DC? Both mine love fruit but also eat veg so should be ok. I have only been doing this a week but really believe in the health benefits rather than just weight loss iyswim

Lovecat · 21/04/2012 11:11

Weighed myself this morning and another 2lb has gone! Not sure where from (I suspect my shoulders are slightly bonier), but woohooooo! :o

I would love to introduce DD to low(er) carb eating but she is such a fussy beggar it's hard to make any changes without suffering umpteen hissy fits. I am starting to sneak wholemeal pasta in, though!

Gincognito · 21/04/2012 11:34

Fiddle I don't think you're getting enough calories! What does your day look like?
Your fat % is fine, could even be higher.

To those who are interested in changing their dc's diets - yy, absolutely. Anyone familiar with the Weston A Price foundation? That is the diet I would like my family to adopt in the long-run.

Gincognito · 21/04/2012 11:36

Link - Weston A Price Foundation

FiddleDeFat · 21/04/2012 11:48

Yesterday was:
B - Big egg and sausage muffin
L - Chicken in mayo salad with oily dressing, oopsie roll and butter
D - Homemade beefburger in oopsie rolls with mayo, salad and a little cheese
S - Cheese coleslaw wrapped in a slice of ham
W - 3 litres

This came to 1292 calories, of which carbs were 6g, fats 107g and protein 72g. Fats at 55% of my diet should have came in at around 80g.

Just worried that I'm eating too much fat. And I don't think I could eat anything else - I was absolutely stuffed last night.

noddyholder · 21/04/2012 11:50

My night out has buggered my loss and am being super strict now! I cannot believe 2 glasses of red has put me back so far
