BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 20/04/2012 07:40

So it's Friday. The start of the Dangerous Days, otherwise known as the weekend.

Can I remind everyone that there is to be no alcohol during bootcamp

whoever said their friend criticised feeding DC wholegrain foods - what a load of rubbish. How can feeding them wholegrain bread and rice be a bad thing? White rice is just brown rice that has been processed. White bread is brown bread that has been processed. Ditto pasta. Surely the natural version is better for you???

My DC never have white bread or pasta unless they are a friends house. They eat loads of veg, loads of fruit, eggs, fish etc. They eat far more sweets and choc and puddings than I do but they are kids. Grin I think it's all about balance with littleuns.

Thegoddessblossom · 21/04/2012 16:43

b: berries and greek yog (sorry)
l: last night's chicken, spinach, mushrooms, leek and broccolli dish with a dollop of soft cheese
snacks: pepperami, celery stick with a dollop of gaucamole

5 pints of water, 2 decaf teas and a decaf coffee.

AND AN EYEBROW WAX, PEDICURE AND AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE! [GRIN] bliss. DH has taken both DSs to a footie match.

d: likely to be chicken curry, with green beans.

MNP · 21/04/2012 17:00

D:crispy roast duck with cauli mash. butter fried leeks and mushrooms.

In the oopsie rolls what cream cheese are people using? dh bought home mascapone.

MTTC · 21/04/2012 17:08

Hi there,

Thank you again for responding to my thread.

I would love to join your 'bootcamp' for the last remaining week. As I need to be weened from the carbohydrates (not just the bread, pasta, potatoes...etc).

Do I just add to the thread starting from Monday 23rd April with what I ate during that day, at the end of the day?

Thank you again!!!

Onthecouch · 21/04/2012 17:16

Thank you BIWI, I will be good, promise. Gosh, you are strict!

Please recommend me a good book that I can read to understand this WOE. Of course I will go through your masterclass on the previous thread as well.

RadioSilence · 21/04/2012 17:27

Easypeasy It was no problem at all - it is all BIWI's work.

Today I have been wearing a pair of boots I bought from Ebay about 6 months ago and could not do up so even my calves are thinner!

ledkr · 21/04/2012 17:29

Hi all. shirl I sympathise with the fatigue.I went for a walk yesterday and was actually groaning as i pushed buggy uphill and im normally fine. I also slept untill 10 and am still fatigued,i am also bruising really easily.Im not convinced this is right for me and i also am not eating enough fat but it makes me feel sick!
Am going to really try hard from tomorrow.I am out tonight and need a drink but am having a spag bol without spag and a salad then tomorrow will do a nice curry.Even been on a day out and ate sausages whilst they all munched on rolls.
To be honets im not fussed on carbs anymore, cravings are no more but im just feeling yuck and frustrated at lack of loss.

way2serious · 21/04/2012 18:14

I have been so bad today. It started well but after lunch I gave into my sweet tooth and ate chocolate and biscuits.

I feel so cross with myself now. I had lost 4lbs and have now saboutaged my progress. Am going to pull myself together and not do it again!!!

We are due to be having a curry tomorrow. What sort would be good to eat when low carbing??

MNP · 21/04/2012 18:14

Change of dinner plans, we had a Indian takeaway.

I had chicken tikka purée (finely chopped chicken not big chunks) and tiger prawns :o and 2 bites of naan :(

FiddleDeFat · 21/04/2012 18:22

MNP - I just used Lidl's full-fat soft cheese in the oopsie rolls and they turned out lovely.

Onthecouch - I'm currently reading this by Dr John Briffa. It's a bit repetitive but explains the science well, and is keeping me motivated.

flipflopflap · 21/04/2012 18:25

Just catching up on the thread, Hurrah to those still losing weight, and boo to all the cheaters! Wink

I survived an Italian by ordering stuffed mushrooms in sauce, and picking the carby stuffing out of them all, so basically mushrooms in sauce! It was lovely though. I was jealous of those who ordered steak, and I've been a veggie for 20 years! Mega cravings! Had a bit too much wine, but scales show another 2lb loss for 6lb in total, mega good loss for me that!

Todays menu has been:

B: Yogurt with 3 raspberrys Blush
L: Cheese and coleslaw salad
D: Veggie burger, cheese, oopsie roll, low carb burger sauce and I might have a couple of butternut squash wedges.

vnmum · 21/04/2012 18:26

had late breakfast of 2 fried eggs, fried bacon and some cheesey coleslaw. Only had lunch at about 3.30 due to not being hungry and have been busy, so had a MIM with philly as a snacky lunch. Just had a gorgeous surf n turf with salad and homemade guacamole cooked by DH.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 21/04/2012 18:33

Welcome, MTTC! Just join in. There's another weigh-in tomorrow, so you can post on that thread

Weigh-in thread

Grin at Onthecouch
That is a good book. I can also recommend Dr Atkins "The New Diet Revolution" and India Knight/Neris Thomas "The Idiot Proof Diet". The latter is more about the psychological/emotional side of losing weight than the science, but it's hugely inspiring.

Having a decent weekend so far food-wise. It's a bloody minefield though, isn't it?

Did nick one of dd's oven chips. But that is the extent of my crimes so far.

Made cheeseburger pie for lunch, dh and ds came back from rugby training and wolfed it down. We had it with a big salad and some homemade coleslaw.

Smoked salmon salad with some olives for dinner.

I'm eating a shed load of green leafy veg and drinking my own body weight in water.

slowlyburningcalories · 21/04/2012 20:34

I made a full cooked breakfast for rest of family, then I had a virtuous plate of bacon, egg and mushrooms. Lunch was a birthday buffet for family relative of spinach and mozzarella pasties, bread, smoked salmon and salad and general crisps, snacks, fruit juices, etc. I had the salmon, the innads of a pastie and lots of lettuce.

And then afternoon tea. Shock horror I did not eat the apple and fudge cake. I did not eat the almond cake. I did not eat the chocolate brownies, the tiffin, the millionaires shortbread, the muffins or the biscuits. I drank water and played with the children.

But dinner was at my relaitives, she did beautiful mini pastry pies with roast potatos, carrots, peas, gravy and then fresh apple pie with custard. I might add this woman's cooking is legendary, she is an awesome awesom cook. She also takes huge concern if you dint eat up.

So. I ate the pie. Yes, yes I did. With a small portion of carrots and peas. Then I had a morsal of pie and I did eat custard. It's delish.

But having cracked the stone barrier this morning at 11st 12 I was determined not to lose sight of pounds lost.

ANTagony · 21/04/2012 20:41

We have had a fairly good food day. The elder two were out so we took our little one out to Llangollen and had big mugs of coffee outside a cafe. Found a lovely fruit and veg shop that sold celeriac my new wonder food that I can't get in our local stores.

We had big rib eye fillets, wild garlic butter mushrooms and chips for tea.

(celeriac chips were really tasty I par boiled them tossed them in butter and actifryed them).

I feel really full after tea so concerned what the weigh in will be tomorrow. It seams wrong to be eating so well and loosing so much weight. I will confess to really missing a glass of red wine with my steak though.

Gincognito · 21/04/2012 20:49

Can I recommend Gary Taubes' Why we get fat and what to do about as an excellent intro to the science.

Shirley, I think your body is adjusting - I felt truly shit until yesterday and now feel totally amazeballs, and I started 3 days before official bootcamp. So it took a week to shake my atrocious carb flu. Really recommend the book above for you too- his arguments on exercise are fascinating.

Gincognito · 21/04/2012 20:50

PS I lost NINE pounds in a week!

BettyBathroom · 21/04/2012 20:50

Evening guys
Good day - I think!

Did a 5 mile hike with the dcs this morning - only minor complaints from them this time. Wink
B Couple of boiled eggs
L Leftovers - Butternut squash & Leek soup followed by ricotta & spinach gnocchi (low carb version)
D Flaxseed pizza - which was a success - dcs still preferred normal pizza but ate it nonetheless.

Snacks: Olives, semi dried tomatoes & parmesan - it's been a bit of an Italian day.

Sitting down now with a glass of red Blush but will go for a long run tomorrow to burn it off.

coocoocachoo · 21/04/2012 22:02

Oh dear, lots of peole doing REALLY well. Good to know that I'm not the only one that fell off the wagon though. The fact that I also rolled down the hill is a bit embarrassing:

B: MIM with butter
L: tuna, egg and stilton salad (so far so good)

Then melt down..felt sicky poorly headachy so thought maybe just a tiny bit carb...a pear, a banana (v. small one shared with DS)

D:Steak with rocket and courgette salad (oh so good again)

Well, little bit of carb didn't seem to hurt so two handfuls of doritos, a quarter of DS's english muffin pizza (so quite small)....followed by another quarter. Had to make DS another one...and then had a quarter of that!!!!!

It just snowballed! So annoyed with myself. Will try very very hard tomorrow indeed!

...and a custard tart ... just being honest! Blush [ducks and hides from BIWI]

ohforfoxsake · 21/04/2012 22:12

I was very proud of myself for not eating the toast I made with my eggs this morning. AND I made proper chips for tea and didn't have even one! OK it's not finding a cure for the common cold, but it's the best I've achieved today. Wink

Ate a massive steak with asparagus, green beans, mushrooms, onions and salad. Loads of water, meatball salad for lunch (had a tomato sauce so not great). Still, apart from the ears of the chocolate rabbit, I think it's been ok.

Livelongandprosper · 21/04/2012 22:37

Went out for a 6 mile geocache this morning. The highlight is always the lunchstop where I usually eat sandwiches and whatever sweets or biscuits I can find in the house. Bit of a challenge knowing what to take.

I took a vegetable stirfry with some prawns and it was fabulous. I also had a boiled egg and some gherkins as snacks but I couldn't eat them as I felt stuffed after the stirfry.

Feeling much better now - in fact very chirpy - but still craving meat so had half a gammon thingy for dinner with some cauliflower cheese. This proved to be something of a challenge as I couldn't handle the odd chewy bit so that may have temporarily cured me of my meat cravings.

Good luck for tomorrow's weigh in everybody!

LoopingLizards · 21/04/2012 22:42

took a downward turn tonight, All great going today until i put lo to bed

I then ate a blackcurrant split, a packet of love hearts and a cadbury purple snack. I only stopped there because there was nothing junky left to eat. Well except for the fact that I was half way across the kitchen with a bag of microwave popcorn when I realised the bloody thing is broken.

BUT YE ALL HAD WINE

MariaCallous · 21/04/2012 22:54

Sneaks in.
Confesses to sin (flat white, 1/2 oatcake, 1 chip and 6 bits popcorn).
Looks around.
Sees lots of other sin.
Sneaks out.

vnmum · 21/04/2012 23:06

betty could you put the recipe for flaxseed pizza on the recipe thread please?
