The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

Hi
I m new, I downloaded the Paul Mckenna Iphone app about a week ago . 'I can think you thin'' I didnt weigh myself at the begining of the wweek because i was too depressed about my weight. I think I was around 15 stone though Blush My size 18 jeans were tight. I weighed myself today and i am about 14.6 . Ive been listening to the trance audio every day, and have really felt a lot less hungry and I fill up so much more quicky. I am really quite amazed. ANyone else using the app?

MardyBra · 30/04/2012 17:17

Hello and welcome to the thread cori. And congratulations on your great start.
(I don't use the app, so no advice there).

JustFab · 30/04/2012 19:13

Hi cori and well done.

I don't understand app. I have a blackberry curve, do they work on that phone? Is there an idiots guide or can someone tell me one please?

LaWobble · 30/04/2012 20:24

MintCake well done on just trying this whilst breastfeeding! I just inhaled digestives during my bf years Blush.

Welcome Cori sounds like you are doing brilliantly. I've got an ancient phone so can't do the app. What does it involve?

Good day for me today, although a slight mishap with some shortbread biscuits Smile. Did a workout though which will hopefully compensate a bit!

ppeat what is the slow toe stand? Do you just stand on your toes with your tummy in, or is there more to it?

Hope every one else good.

frazzled09 · 30/04/2012 20:43

Hello, can I join in?
I am just beginning. Weight wise I could do with losing between one and two stone. The main thing is that I'll be happy if I can kick the snacking habit I've developed, which is all emotional eating.

But I'm on my third "Day 1" tomorrow having tried first a couple of weeks ago... I keep starting off well with breakfast, then forgetting I am meant to be following the golden rules until evening. Doh. It doesn't help that I have chosen this month to start (just stopped BF after a long time so my hormones are flying up, down, sideways, making me want to lie in bed eating bourbon biscuits!)

When you listen to the CD, do you fall asleep too? I reckon I only get about 15 mins in before I doze off each time Blush

Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi really! [please imagine fancy waving emoticon, I can't do it]

blackcatsdancing · 30/04/2012 21:17

frazzled i started a couple of weeks or so ago then stopped, really want to try again properly but need some support. i too don't have much to lose, a minimum of 1 stone though a bit more would be welcome. I'm an emotional eater also.

LaWobble · 30/04/2012 21:19

Hi frazzled, to start with I didn't fall asleep, but I definitely drift off now, into quite a light sleep though as I always wake up as he is doing the '3, 2, 1' thing which is a bit weird Confused.

If you think the CD isn't working, maybe listen to it at a different time of day? But I always listen at night as it helps me sleep too Smile.

I want to lose the same sort of amount of weight as you, have already lost about 11lbs which is great, but want to lose at least 1 more stone, and will be interested to see how far I get using this method before I hit a plateau.

LaWobble · 30/04/2012 21:20

I'll support you blackcats Smile

Solo · 01/05/2012 00:41

Quick hello before sleep! Welcome newbies and returnee's :) lovely to have you aboard. We all support each other on here, so there'll always be someone to chat with and moan to etc.
I still want to lose 2 stones...I've already lost that much, but between 21 and 28lbs more would be fab!!

Hi,

I'd like to join, too. I've got 11 stone to lose, and a completely dead thyroid. It's incredibly hard, despite a shed-load of medicine, it (the weight) doesn't seem to budge.

Have had problems due to an abusive 'd'm who died in Jan. Both the endocrinologist, and the psychiatrist who the gp sent me to, think I won't lose it until I get 'd'm off my back. So I'm seeing a counsellor twice a month. She thinks there may be some, as yet, undiscovered health problem as I had to run on adrenaline for about 8 years before I began thyroid treatment.

I tried Cambridge last year, and didn't lose an ounce, which was very frustrating.

Just read the whole thread. ppeat think I may be not too far from you, we had thunder and lightning this afternoon. Which dept are you in?

Being very shallow, I'm scared that if I lose the weight, I'll be left with football pitch sized flappy skin all over the place - stomach, hips, upper arms etc etc

Have ordered the cd's from Amazon - should be here later this week.

JustFab · 01/05/2012 07:27

LaWobble - the count down is to wake you up so it is fine that it does.

Morning all!

I was wondering how often you are meant to weigh yourself. On my calorie counting I do it weekly and I have lost 1lb last week and 1lb this week. happy with that.

Rosylee1976 · 01/05/2012 07:42

Welcome to all the new comers. I am sure that you will find all the help and support you need here.

tb like you I have a lot of weight to lose - 12 stone or so. I know it sounds like a daunting number, but we just have to take it one step at a time. I know if you follow the GR's you will lose weight. I understand what they say about the past having an influence on your weight and I believe that to an extent that is correct if you are an emotional eater. I have been on this plan for 2 weeks. In fact today is my second day of week 3. This is important as I rarely stick to things. But you know what, I am so tired of being the weight I am and now more than ever, it is impacting on my life as a whole. So, I am not perfect, last night I ate about 5 mini chocolate donuts, but I also stopped when I could have had more. Just take it one step at a time. And yes, we might be left with loose skin, but the alternative is infinitely worse. This plan is the most natural plan in the world. Give it a fair go, follow the rules and see what happens. I have lost 6.5 lbs in the 2 weeks. So I know it is possible. But more importantly, my approach to food is better, and I do not spend all my thinking about it the way I used to. We are all here if you need us, just ask.

My DD and I are off to view a potential secondary school this AM. Hope it goes OK.

I have been a bit lax about listening to the CD. I really must get back to it. I don't really regret the donuts too much. I reckon I was feeling slightly hungry. Well I had my tea at 5pm (having had lunch just before 12), so by the time I had done the dreaded food shop and was relaxing, it was nearly 10pm, and thus 5 hours after my last meal. Normally I would have been in bed. I hope I am not kidding myself, but I really did feel like I needed to eat.

Hope you all have a great day. Weather sucks again :(

blackcatsdancing · 01/05/2012 08:41

thanks lawobble, nice to know there are at least 3 of us who don't have masses to lose. I was going to listen to CD in bed last night but batteries died on my portable cd player - something wrong there as i'd only charged them up a few days ago. sigh. shall stick on MP3 player and see if that works.

ppeatfruit · 01/05/2012 09:32

Welcome all newbies and Bienvenue tb Smile Mumsnet swallowed my lovely long post again I effing give up!! speak later i want to get out in the garden while there's no rain Smile

MardyBra · 01/05/2012 09:46

Bonjour! I'm a bit of a francophile and I am very Envy that you do not have rain pp. Maybe the Paulers in France should call themselves Paulettes?

Solo · 01/05/2012 09:50

Morning!!
Welcome tb :) you will be great on the PMK non diet. We don't count calories here; JustFab is doing something slightly different by calorie counting, but it's really not what PMK is about, so don't consider that you need to do that; you don't and shouldn't IMO. I have never counted calories (can't think of anything worse if I'm honest, than worrying about how many calories/points/syns are in something! Hmm) and PMK's way seems to be key to proper eating. I'm not digging anyone out either, but this thread is not about dieting and all the crap that goes with it.

Just think Rosy, if you lose that amount every 2 weeks, that's about a stone a month! woohoo!!

OP posts:
Solo · 01/05/2012 09:51

Liking Paulettes MB Grin In fact! I reckon that's a better thing to call ourselves than Pauler's!!

OP posts:
JustFab · 01/05/2012 10:17

Solo - I am not calorie counting now. I was doing that before.

HUGE break through last night. Shock. Normally I would get teary that I want to eat and don't feel that I should as I am not really hungry. Last night I just said to myself, if you want to eat, eat. And I didn't as I knew I didn't need too but just feeling that was massive for me, only taken 40 years

Solo · 01/05/2012 10:42

That's good news all round Fab!! :) I'm having a terrible munchies time atm; AF is late and even if she doesn't arrive, I still need ( neeeed??!!! ) to get food in for her...Tis crapola!!

Solo Sad.It really is. I had a crappy day on Sunday and swore at dd BlushAngry and said to dh that really it was time he took his share of having the periods. He wasn't happy with how I spoke to DD but she is okay now. I was lookoing on the calendar for when I was due to discover it was April 8th. We were then on April 29th. Eek. DH wasn't having it that I was late and the bugger was right. I had that one and I am due this week. It is pants. I have already started with stomach pains on and off. I will be mainlining the feminax the minute I come on. No point suffering.

I have barely thought about food since I started chatting to you all on here so a big big thank you to you all for making me feel so welcoms SmileSmile.

JustFab · 01/05/2012 11:10

OOOOOOO are you TTC, Solo????

frazzled09 · 01/05/2012 12:38

Thank you for the welcome, and hello to everyone else who is new too!

This is hard - I am on day 10 of a monster AF and am absolutely knackered, chocolate chocolate chocolate is what I want but I managed this morning to only eat when I was hungry. Phew.

How do you eat consciously when you are eating with a toddler? It's really hard to pay attention to the slow chewing and watching out for the full signal when you're being talked to by a persistent toddler and also trying to instil some table manners in them ("no need to dissect your sandwich DS, no it's not nice to put the cheese on your nose; please stop licking the outside of the yoghurt pot" etc etc etc)

I'm also finding it hard to know when I am full. I realise now that I don't really know what slightly hungry, or satisfied, feel like. Because I always get to wobbly hungry before I notice, then binge, and don't feel full til some time after I stop eating, because the wobbly feeling takes ages to go. It's a challenge!

ppeatfruit · 01/05/2012 12:59

Hello again Paulettes is a good idea ! Mardy yes it's fab here now! the sun is TOO hot for me ATM! Shock but we've had crap too we need the rain though! Welcome Cori and Frazzled; it takes time for yr body to get used to the idea of feeling properly hungry but not ravenous so not ignoring yr hunger (that stops the binges) and the same with feeling full.

Solo · 01/05/2012 14:17

Shock Good God no!!! I'm single! and..... menopausal dear! Grin

Yes, you will get to know your bodily signals. Quite a moment when you first realise actually! Oooh! I'm actually too full to finish! tis good!
