The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. So forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!!

The Paul McKenna system works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

crazynell good luck with BC. Paul will still be here if you need him in the future! I tried this back in 2006 and for various reasons I couldn't wouldn't stick to it. Feel completely different using the system this time though.

LaWobble I think I know exactly what you mean. I'm freaked out too by this, at the moment it's so easy and I'm waiting for the ball to drop. I can't believe how un-hungry I am!

Ali great news on the school

Em welcome!

As for me, I'm dying to get on the scale as I know I've lost some weight - or at least I've definitely lost inches. Trousers are looser :o But I want to hang on for a while longer, I give the scale too much power and if I've 'only' lost a pound or two I'll get all irrational and say it's not working and look around for a diet. Conversely, if I've had a 'good' loss, more than three pounds, I'll end up thinking 'oooh if I eat a bit less and go lower fat/carb/cal/whatever I can speed this weight loss up'. And I don't want to do that either.
I'm starting the 90 Day Journal today. I already had one. Well actually I've got two. One that I had in 2006 and followed the system for a few weeks. Then exH and I decided to get a divorce and all hell broke loose and the 4 GR's went out of the window. Anyway, I kept the journal and it's interesting to read how I was feeling about it then. For some reason this time it's sunk in better. The journal I'll be using is in the new book, it came with the CD and a DVD. I already had the book and when I started this last week I decided to give it a few days to see how I got on. So today's the day! 90 days from today is 18 July.

Hi
I've not been on since about page 21 of the last thread, when I had just started PMK. That was about ?5 weeks ago. I was really pleased to lose 5lbs in the first two weeks. It was then Easter holidays so I was only doing it half heartedly, but I still managed to lose 1.5 lbs Grin. I also have loose trousers .
I'm snacking less, but I think the main difference I've found is with my evening meal. I was a long time SWer, so was used to eating lots of "free" feed and just stuffing myself silly. What I'm now doing, is choosing what I would actually like to eat and enjoying it. However, I reckon my main meal size has often been cut by about 50%! DH and I now eat in the kitchen, rather than with trays on our knees in front of the TV. We both really enjoy this now, as it's nice and quiet away from the older two DC who are still up and we get to talk to each other.

I've just got a quick question. Does anyone have the iPhone PMK app? It's £6.99, so pretty expensive. You seem to be able to do the journal on there (whcih I haven't done), but does it have any advantage if you already have the book and CD? I am a bit of an app fan but balked slightly at the price.

TIA

Aw BBB how much did you bribe Ds with to be feeling poorly Wink

Hope he's better soon though and that it doesn't wend its way through the rest of you there's so many bugs and viruses around these days; or is it me and getting old that it seems that way?

Solo · 19/04/2012 14:02

Just waiting for the 5 minutes to be up to flush the acid down...praying it works; I can't afford to call out the professionals.

I'm afraid it was Sod Law Solo. It was bound to happen - my mum made the mistake of saying that the children had a better developed immune system now they were older as they didn't get DH's man-flu last week. Silly woman!

Dh wanted to go and see the speaker too (that Nick bloke from the Apprentice, don't know his surname I prefer the US version) and couldn't because he had to man the stall so I feel a bit bad about it really. Not that it was my fault or even DS's. I am not sure I don't already have whatever it is he has. Had a headache yesterday too and felt hot after very little effort - hot enough for me to check anyway (37.6c) although not actually a temperature I suppose. Feel very tired this morning but that might be from lying on a bed all day watching CBBC and playing computer games on the laptop. Not exactly getting the blood flowing is it?!

Waves to TheTokenGirl (I know how you feel - I'm in a household of 3 males v 1 female).

BigBoobiedBertha · 19/04/2012 14:22

Solo - just don't do what I did and pour boiling water down if it is a toilet. I did it once. Blocked for several days (stupid toilet had a double u-bend for some reason) poured down bleach and whatnot. Ended up with boiling water and bleach. Seemed to be working. Thought I would try it a second time and broke the toilet. Blush. Thankfully that was just after I had flushed it and moved the blockage or else the water that poured through the kitchen ceiling would have been very unsavoury.

At least we were able to replace it with a single u-bed toilet. Silver linings and all that.

Oh dear. My 20 minutes of freedom are up. DS calls.

arfur · 19/04/2012 14:24

Hi all! Just wanted to say I'm still here! Been away on hols all inclusive cocktails galore and I gained ...... One pound! Which has already gone in spite of the Lindt White choc bunny Blush just goes to prove how much of my weight problem is dye to between meal snacking. Been back in the couch to 5k programme (have run twice this week) need to listen to mr smoothie as haven't been lately and my eating isn't quite as it should be. Want to try and drop half a stone in the next 6 weeks so fingers crossed. Love to you all x

Solo · 19/04/2012 15:00

BBB I used warm/hot water (not boiling) yesterday so that I could manoeuvre (sp?) a length of hose pipe through and flush ha!!! with hot water, but it didn't budge it. I'm just wondering what will go wrong next as I have a long list of stuff that's gone wrong recently and not so recently that I can't put right. I need a sugar daddy/rich, gorgeous and sexy man to help sort me out.

Arfur!!! Grin welcome back and well done!!! (sorry about the topic of conversation).

BigBoobiedBertha · 19/04/2012 15:18

Solo - Maybe you need PMK's 'I can make you rich'...... or just marry him.Smile

arfur · 19/04/2012 16:21

Grin or PMK's "I can unblock your pipes" oooer! Wink

arfur · 19/04/2012 16:28

OMG I am so sad I can hear him saying "imagine your pipes in a months time, see hear and feel how the water flows through them so quickly and easily, feel how good it feels and looks" tee hee Grin

Rosylee1976 · 19/04/2012 18:18

:o That is so funny arfur !! Gave me a real good laugh, cos I can almost hear him in my head!

Tia, do you know if that app works on Samsung SII, which is smiliar to the iphone?

Had an OK day today. Was on training, and did OK with the eating.

I got a new scale but I don't intend to weigh myself yet. It has only been 5 days since I have been Pauling. Now I didn't weigh when I started pauling as my scale was broken. Having said that, the GO weighed me a month ago and I was supposed to go back this week with a 2kg weight loss. Of course, as I wasn't actually doing anything to get this weight off, I doubt I would have lost anything, hence me cancelling the appointment. I am seeing her next Friday and I am hoping by then I will have lost some weight as I will have been pauling for nearly 2 weeks by then.

I also use the journal so hopefully it will keep me on track, too.

Rosylee1976 · 19/04/2012 18:44

So here is a question I have been pondering. Why does PMK have a weight loss club for US citizens but not his own countrymen? Not that I need another group - I have you guys :o but just found it a bit strange..

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 19/04/2012 18:52

arfur that is awesome Hope the holiday was lovely :)
Very amused at the pipe cleaning comments!

Solo · 19/04/2012 18:58

Oh my goodness!!! I am giggling away here at PM unblocking my soil pipe!!! That sounds positively rude!!! Grin

Rosy I think you would be surprised!!!

Rosylee1976 · 19/04/2012 19:01

What do you mean Solo?

MardyBra · 19/04/2012 20:16

Bad pauling day. Had to eat on the run between various appointments, and stuffed back egg and bacon sandwich and pack of Doritos at lunchtime. I WAS hungry and I definitely ATE what I wanted, but just knocked it back quickly.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 19/04/2012 21:40

Evening all :) Just finishing off my dinner, which I know I shouldn't while on the computer...

BBB - HWI. DS1 seemed very at home there, and DH and I got a good feeling about the head. They also let them do French, rugby and extra music from YR - the other catchment school (SM) it was all 'oh they don't do that until Y2, they don't do that until Juniors' which we were very Hmm about.

Solo - hope your pipes are cleared!

Em - welcome :) don't be embarrassed about your weight, we are all where we are for a whole variety of reasons.

arfur - welcome back, glad you had a good time and well done on such a small gain, that is brilliant!

Rosy - I know exactly what you mean about feeling that you 'ought' to be hungry but aren't. I have all kinds of issues around fear of 'OMG what if I'm hungry later', which is clearly a totally bonkers thing to feel. And so I feel like I should eat to stave off potential hunger that doesn't even exist yet!
I think it is a hangover from having done WW/SW etc in the past. That miserable feeling of having eaten all your points, or being on the wrong sort of day to eat the food you really want or whatever the rules of the diet you are following are.

Mardy - I don't think days like that are a disaster now and again, if you have been rushing about then you do get hungry

Well done on the lose trousers all round ladies! Grin

I've had a good day today. Managed to eat much more slowly and consciously than I have for a while.

Thetokengirl · 19/04/2012 21:45

Rosylee
Sorry, I'm not called Tia, I was trying to use MN speak and think it means "Thanks in advance", but I'm newish to this! Grin

MaloryMad · 19/04/2012 22:54

OOPS Blush
time to wipe the smug smile off my face. I've had a bit of a slip up tonight. Not really eaten a vast amount but definitely overate, and ate it too fast, and I wasn't hungry either.
so annoyed with myself!
I'm pretty certain he says in the book that this will happen from time to time.

Solo I did laugh at Paul and your soil pipe !

Solo · 19/04/2012 23:05

Rosy I meant that you might be surprised to see a loss already. You seem to have got a good handle on this already. I think I'd almost put money ( if I had any! )on a loss already for you :) I have faith in you!!

Loo still not cleared :( no idea what to do other than climbing a ladder and opening up the access thingy and having a look and prod about ^^

OP posts:
Rosylee1976 · 20/04/2012 06:51

TheTokenGirl LOL. If you read one of my earlier posts you will know that I am new to MN and online chatting in general. So much so that I asked people to tell me what the various acronyms mean! I had no idea that TIA is thanks in advance! Actually, that my DH's name in RL. See I am trying to be "cool" too, showing of my mad internet skills :O

Solo, I am sure you are right when you say I will see a loss. I have gone on the scale for a peek and it does seem that I have lost something since my GP weighed me. Its a small loss but I will take it with pleasure. Any loss is a success for me. Obviously, I don't know if I gained any weight in the 3 weeks between going to the GP and starting my journey with Paul, but it's not outside the realm of possibility.

Solo sorry to hear your pipes are still problematic. Are you likely to call out a plumber?

Hey no worries Malory. As you say Paul promised us it would happen from time to time. The great thing is that you haven't ruined anything because you just get back following the rules. It is so different from dieting. If I messed up and ate the wrong stuff, I would say "oh to hell with it, I messed up and so I might as well start tomorrow again because I already had too many syns or ate the wrong food. With Paul, it's not a question of the food anymore, just a simple matter of waiting until you are next hungry and trying those rules again. I feel that this is so liberating.

Don't get me wrong, it is hard to not eat sometimes when you know you are not hungry. I experienced this yesterday in a training course. The biscuits were on the tables and though I knew I was not hungry, I was bored enough with the course to want them and it would have given me something to "do". I did not eat them, fortunately. Another day of training today...
