The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded support system:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry OH NO we're not!!! so come on in and start living your new life today!

How is everyone doing today?

I haven't listened to the CD since before we went on holiday, but I'm doing ok. I have been very consciously trying to cut down on the amount of sugar I eat and increase the protein a bit, and I do feel more well in myself than I have done for a really long time.

HaveALittleFaith · 18/06/2012 15:47

I know little about the menopause but think the general idea of it messing with your body.

I'm doing ok Pauling-wise. Eating my food without stimulation and listened to the cd every day since I put it on my phone Friday. Pain is really bad and I've had to take some time off work. Really craving chocolate but I think that's to comfort me. Opting for a bio yoghurt instead.

FartBlossom · 18/06/2012 18:28

Im not feeling too great ATM. I know its because Im tired.

Right now Im craving some chocolatey mess. I fancy either a double chocolate gateaux and just getting a spoon and eating it. It was something I did on occasions when I was younger and my parents went away. I would take it out of the box, but leave the plastic wrapping round it, get a spoon and dig in. Back then I was a size 8 and 9 stone (if anything I was underweight for my build) so didnt worry about it. The other thing I fancy is some sort of sundea (sp?) with brownie pieces, ice-cream, fudge sauce and squirty cream on it.

Im torn whether to have something smaller to satisfy my craving, whether to just go for it and pig out (after all tomorrow's another day) or if I should just sit it out and let it pass (surely it will eventually)

My last post said I had lost a couple of pounds, but I feel like I have put them back on and maybe more.

Im just so tired and just need to find some time to relax, but if I manage to get some time to myself it doesn't really have any effect. Im sleeping well (7-8 hours a night) and managing to exercise a bit so I dont really know how I can get out of this sluggish, tiredness Im feeling.

I also dont feel as though Im eating consciously enough. Does that part take time. I know I shouldn't let it get to me, after all Ive only been trying to do it for a week, surely it takes time to form new habits.

HaveALittleFaith · 18/06/2012 18:36

FB you need to kind to yourself! Have you tried the tapping technique to try and combat the desire for the chocolate goo? Can you go and have a rest and listen to the CD? Just to have some time out.

If the tired/sluggishness has been going on for a while it might be worth seeing your GP.

FartBlossom · 18/06/2012 19:16

faith I have read about the tapping thing, but Id feel a little silly doing all that. I also thought of taking half an hour now to listen to it, but I just fall asleep and dont feel any better for it. I certainly dont wake up full of motivation. Though I do need to listen to it today, but only because it needs to be done, not to make me feel any better. All it does for me AFAIK is give me a quick 20 mins sleep.

Ive tried the GP before. Firstly I was given some exercises to help me sleep then I had some blood tests and they came back fine. I get like this from time to time, it usually lasts a few days and then goes away. Its generally when life gets a bit mundane.

I think Im just in that frame of mind ATM, perhaps I need to go for a walk or something to clear my head and get some fresh air in my lungs.

JustFabulous · 18/06/2012 19:23

Anyone want to join me in accepting I am a fat lard arse who can't do a bloody thing and just eat all the stuff in the house and see how fat I actually can get?

DD has just upset me and I want to eat chocolate but I don't really ConfusedHmm.

FartBlossom · 18/06/2012 19:28

I'll join you JustFabulous sounds like fun Grin

Ive decided to just sit my gooey chocolate mess craving out and it will go away eventually. Im going cold turkey.

JustFabulous · 19/06/2012 06:47

Morning!

TOod DH last night I had to get back into exercising as I look repulsive. He went to work at daft o'clock so I have just done 31 minutes on the Wii. Only burnt off 144 calories though so was it even worth it?

Going to buy a sports bra this morning as the clasp has broken on mine and there is no way I was going to jog without one with my F-GG babies.

Going for a water and a shower before the JFKids get up. Not sure what to eat but really want several satsumas Confused.

FB how is the cold turkey going?

ppeatfruit · 19/06/2012 08:15

Morning justfab Smile There was a shutdown on our BroadBand yesterday (no computer or radios! ) it was weird! Remember what P.M. says about our self image be positive, be positiveGrin

Ali why struggle with his voice? It's fab IMO Blush GIVE IN !!!!

Solo Look up thryoid in yr. Stephen Chang book; that neck exercise makes a hell of a lot of difference.

Fbloss Wheat intolerance gives dh terrible exhaustion and me sluggishness do you have a bad temper too?.

I've a recipe for an' instead of choc. goo' craving;

use a plain full fat yoghurt I have tofu yog. or sheep greek style yog. and add a spoonful of honey or molasses or fruit sugar then grate some plain choclate into it with freshly grated nutmeg and cinammon and some chopped nuts. YUM

bumbums · 19/06/2012 14:38

After 2 days of feeling really in tune with my hunger and fluid needs and actually not needing a great deal of food, today I am ravenous and have a nagging headache!!!

What's that all about?

HaveALittleFaith · 19/06/2012 14:45

I think your body takes time to adjust bums? Have you cut caffeine down? That gives me a bad head!

I am feeling a lot better :) I went for a massage and she's got all the knots out of my lower back. Not pain free but lots better! And after chasing yesterday because I had no appointment booked, one has suddenly come winging through the door! For Monday! Grin Don't expect much on the day but it's a step forward.

ppeatfruit · 19/06/2012 17:21

bumbums Sounds a bit odd unless as as*havealittle says you've cut out booze and chocolate and sugaretc. the ravenous bit i dont't know but give into it and eat slowly etc....

Congrats on the appointment and glad you're feeling better have dh has had no luck with massage, etc. I try to help with hot water bottles and arnica and coconut oil for his back but maybe it needs to be done more than once a day. He is taking kelp which is helping his mood BTW.

HaveALittleFaith · 19/06/2012 17:28

To be fair it's not changed the original pain just eased the tightness from my lower back that's been compensating. Has left me sleeeeeepy and dehydrated. I've rested so it's time for more fluids!

MardyBra · 19/06/2012 20:33

Buck up you lot!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 19/06/2012 21:01

I have been without internet all day due to a power cut, I was really shocked at how much I hated it Blush The worst though is that our digital landline phones don't work unless the base unit is powered, and we have very patchy mobile signal in the house without the signal booster we use - that was a bit scary being in the house with no means of contacting anyone in an emergency!

ppeat - it really isn't a question of giving in, more trying to keep my skin from crawling off my body! Grin

Faith a massage sounds lovely Envy I have a spa day to use which DH bought me for Christmas, but not had a chance to use it yet!!

I've Pauled well today, considering the stress. I might have to have a toasted crumpet in a minute though, just because I can (breakfast was a sorry affair with no toaster :()

KinkyDorito · 20/06/2012 08:02

Thank you Solo for PM Thanks. I'm sorry I didn't reply. My life has been pretty shitbags of late and I'm in a continual slump.

DD had her chemo dropped because she was getting ill so often, then her counts went high so they were worried that chemo wouldn't work, and put it back up, and now her counts have plummeted and she has swollen up. They don't know why. We are at home today, awaiting a load of results and seeing what course of action they suggest. So, I'm off work again which is becoming a very sore point that I cannot discuss for legal reasons, so you get the idea of how shit that is. Like a total idiot, I booked a really expensive holiday for August 2012 to celebrate DD finishing treatment. Things were going okay with getting into work, so I thought we'd manage it. Now, I'm starting to wonder if it is feasible.

It feels like everything is a bit of a mess, tbh.

I am back up to starting weight of 15st 3. I had got down to 13st 12 by February but March (and pnemonia) sent me on a feeding frenzy that hasn't stopped since. But, my health is suffering and I need to get a grip of myself. I need to try and reinstate the mindful eating.

Also, if I do manage cripplingly expensive holiday, then I don't want to be huge, sweaty and uncomfortable on it (TMI, sorry!). I'm forcing myself into very tight 18s at the moment; it's the third set of fat work clothes I've had to buy and I'm so cross with myself. I don't want to get any more.

How does everyone else deal with stress without eating? I would love a punch bag, but have nowhere to put one. I don't want to go to our local gym as it is intimidating and I am self-conscious, plus it is full of teenage boys who I teach doing weights!

Sorry for big vent. I'm going to have a read back to see how you've all been getting on.

ppeatfruit · 20/06/2012 08:53

Morning everyone!Smilekinky it's good to hear from you despite the Sad news but come back to P.M.

mardy Thanks for the link it was a long read but good for a reminder for me!
Ali I was without BroadB. for a day luckily we had electricity but what amazed me was how much more time I had Grin and how I missed itGrin

ppeatfruit · 20/06/2012 08:57

Oh kinks I spose its easier for me 'cos I've never equated food with stress relieving so I breathe through my nose only and remember to push my shoulders down (there's a brill anti stress exercise in the Stephen Chang book)

JustFabulous · 20/06/2012 13:01

Hello everyone! Will catch up with posts in a minute.

Haven't listened to my CD for a while as have been too tired.

I did exercise and ate fruit yesterday. Have put weight on Confused.

HaveALittleFaith · 20/06/2012 13:57

Oh kinks. It's nice to hear from you. Sorry things are so t

HaveALittleFaith · 20/06/2012 14:03

so tough fat fingers I still maintain if you're functioning that's as much as can be expected. I stress eat too. I comfort myself with food too. Like 'there, there, have an ice cream'. I find I try to pause before I go off for that food, shouldn't ask DH to buy it if he's at the shop. I don't need it! But sometimes I don't realise I'm doing it - is almost sub conscious. So I don't have a lot of it in the house. I try to plan meals ahead so I don't grab snacks when I'm out. I find just leaving the house and exercising - even if it's a walk. I don't know if you can try any of those though. Not easy to break the habit though.

I'm not doing great, back is better but still got niggling pain. Roll on Monday's appointment. I have hovvered on the scales and am 13st 6 :( before I got ill I was a stone lighter. Still trying but I'm disgeartened.

ppeatfruit · 20/06/2012 15:33

havealittle you said you'd try anything; I know that Glucosamine\Chondroitin works well for the symptoms of aches and pains. If you want to treat the cause then you'd need to cut down on acid forming foods like oranges, vinegar and anything that has it in it (e.g mayonnaise, we make our own vinegar free with lemon juice which is NOT acid forming BTW) most sauces and pickles etc. normal tea and a lot of dairy products. Good luck!! Grin

It can be done I do it all the time you have to focus on what you can eat rather than the negative.
