Kinky it is good to hear from you, although I'm sorry that the news on DD isn't better :( Also sorry to hear that work are being shitbags :(

I don't know what to say about managing eating when you are stressed. My eating has always gone out of control when I've been really unhappy or under stress and pressure. I got to my heaviest when I had PND after DS1 and I had also fallen out with my brother at the same time which caused huge rows within the family. I'm very grateful for the period of emotional tranquility that I've had over the last year which has allowed me to lose some weight - I am honestly not sure how well I will cope when that comes to an end.

Faith Your body behaves differently when you are ill, I'm sure it does. I don't think the usual 'eat less, move more' equation applies. Be kind to yourself and I really hope you make some headway at your appointment on Monday.

I'm plodding along here. I seemed to have reached a point where I feel fairly calm about food, and I'm really getting there with portion sizes - when I think of the amounts I used to serve out and think it was normal I almost laugh, but it is sobering.

KinkyDorito · 20/06/2012 18:04

Thanks all.

Ali I keep despairing over how big I am, then more stuff happens and I feel myself opening cupboard doors. Am worried about her today - I feel like we are on the brink of it going downhill again. We've managed nearly 3 months without a hospital stay, which is the longest yet. Problem now is I have triple the stress thanks to worrying about my job. I'm hoping when she settles, I will. She's not due to finish chemo until the end of April 2013 - it's just over 2 years for leukaemia in girls. Boys get an extra year because it likes to hide in testicles.

ppeatfruit · 21/06/2012 08:54

Morning and Happy Longest Day to everyone Smile How bizarre about testicles kinks Grin. IIWY I wouldn't buy any stuff that tempts you to overeat so opening yr cupboards would be fine Grin

JustFabulous · 21/06/2012 12:32

Hi all Grin.

Just bought sports bras from M & S. I vere between thinking just accept your fatness, to being upset I can't do it as useless, to worrying I have something wrong as nothing makes me lose weight, to trying to not eat much Hmm.

FartBlossom · 21/06/2012 12:47

sounds just like me JustFab. ATM Im going through a who cares phase, but still stopping my eating before I get too full, Im usually a little over satisfied, but Im not uncomfortable. If Im eating something totally delicious that I love I just tell myself that I will get chance to eat it again and I dont need to eat it all now.

I realised the other night while listening to the CD that there have been 4 periods in my life (3 times during my 3 pregnancies and when I was younger and thinner) that I really didnt take much notice of my weight or what I ate and in each of these 4 times I only ate as much as I could and didn't put on much weight. Once I put on a couple of pounds I was constantly watching my weight and thinking about dieting. So Im going to go back to the way I was when I was younger and while I was PG. Will see how it goes.

bumbums · 21/06/2012 14:28

Is anyone doing the finger pressure thing? And if so do you think its a key part of Paul's ethos?

I'm not doing it yet.

As far as eating goes, I am enjoying Pauling. I did just have some chocolate with a cup of tea just now Blush, but apart from that I am learning to eat when I'm truely hungry and I choose proper food over a packet of crisps etc.

I find though that if I eat something once, chewing slowly etc, and I find that it is the perfect quantity to satisfy me, then the next time I have the same thing, I don't bother to consider it much. I throw it down my neck.

Anyone else like this?

NothingWrongWithWhoYouAre · 21/06/2012 15:55

Hi everyone,
This might be a bit personal, so please don't feel as though you have to answer it. But would anyone like to share how long they have been Paulin and how much they have lost?

Just curious is all,

Nothing x

ppeatfruit · 21/06/2012 17:06

NothingI suppose I've been doing pauling for 2 yrs or so I lost slowly to start but then lost almost 3 stone when i really got 'into' it.

Bums There's nothing wrong with a bit of chocolate (I can only eat the 70% stuff now though the cheap shxx makes me heave actually) if you're hungry and eat slowly blah..blah..! Grin You have to get into the habit of considering EVERYTHING you eat!

justfab Remember to love yrself Smile, listen to the cd and read the book. Sorry to sound like a parrot but new habits take a long time to make.

JustFabulous · 21/06/2012 17:11

I am finding it impossible to even like myself at the moment. As well as being obese I have a lot on my mind and just can't get a minutes peace to get my head straight.

ppeatfruit · 21/06/2012 17:33
Sad
KinkyDorito · 21/06/2012 19:18

JustFabulous I am in exactly that place. It is shit.

ppeatfruit · 22/06/2012 08:22

Oh dear Come ON!! Grin Smile Now it's a new day and a Friday Smile Good morning Everyone!! I'm getting back into it properly today as well; I'm having a beautiful peach and apple and ground almond smoothie for my breakfast YUM it's so filling I put it in the fridge for later.

HaveALittleFaith · 22/06/2012 08:44

Wow that sounds scummy pppeat.

I'm doing ok! Pain is tolerable now, I'm convinced the cranberry juice is helping. I'm contemplating going swimming tonight. Actually, on thinking about it I'm quite keen! I've listened to the cd at least once a day since Friday and I do feel more positive. FB I do think that's key, even of you do fall asleep! It still impacts so get listening :)
I'm doing quite well with eating consciously - pausing tv to concentrate, yesterday I took my lunch to the staff room instead of picking at my desk. Definitely helps. I think I need to hide the scales because I keep jumping on them - not much difference yet but AF is due Tuesday unless I'm diffed so I'm probably retaining water. Trying to focus on long term gain.

I'm sorry some of you are struggling. I do find when I'm listening to the CD I can only imagine exercising 'if my pain is gone'.....the thing is we know it works but nothing in this life comes easy. It's easier to stay the same and be unhappy than it is to change! But I'm trying not to let life get me down!

To answer the question, I've been Pauling since new year. I lost a stone in 2 months but have gained it back since I've been ill and inactive and lost the plot. Hoping eventually to lose a couple of stone.

ppeatfruit · 22/06/2012 09:52

Try it; it's easy to make Have alittle Smile It seems like you've cracked it! BTW years ago I lost a stone just giving daily coffee without ANY extra exercising at all!!

I know cranberry is brilliant are you having the 'sweetened with apple juice' one? 'cos that's much less acid forming so even better for you. I just remembered you can get cranberry capsules from the H.F. shops they may be worth getting, they also sell that particular type of cranberry juice.

ppeatfruit · 22/06/2012 09:56

Duh! "just giving UP coffee"! It was only one a day but it was the real freshly ground stuff and I still have one every week or so but it works as a diuretic now Hmm weird or what?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/06/2012 10:36

Morning everyone :)

I'm sorry so many of you are struggling. Listening to the CD really is key I find when I am having a tough time.
I also think that getting out of the mindset of 'If only I was thin I could do X, when I am thin I will do Y' is really important. I know I have been massively guilty of it in the past, feeling like I couldn't enjoy something if I was overweight - and punishing myself for being fat by not doing things that would otherwise have made me happy. It is very much easier said than done though, and I don't mean to sound preachy at all.

DS1 has his first school visit today which is very exciting! DH and I went to the parent's meeting last night and met his new teacher and saw his classroom :):)
So now I need to buy uniform and stuff. Argh - any tips?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/06/2012 11:07

NothingWrong I have been Pauling since last May, so just over a year, and I have lost 18lbs in that time and almost 2 dress sizes.

JustFabulous · 22/06/2012 11:14

Hi

I will be back later for a proper catch up as I am sorting Lego but I am trying hard today. Would someone please check out my post on general health as I have had no replies and now it feels like there is something lose inside it Confused.

bumbums · 22/06/2012 14:41

Tummy possibly feeling a little flatter today. Determined not to weigh myself. Just trying to make this my new way of life. Its really pretty effortless. I just need to build in more exercise now.

Alibaba I agree with you about not waiting to be slim before doing things. Because it just like you're punishing your self even more. I was waiting for happier times before dieting as I felt I couldn't deal with dieting on top of all my other pressures right now. So just quietly Pauling everyday suits me. I don't have to tell anyone I'm on WW or any other branded diet plan, I can just eat naturally.

I feel this way of eating is gradually helping me to build my self control too. And I'm making better choices of what to eat.

I know that when I am more body confident I will be more my real self though. I would be more confident for sure.

I like to picture my self tanned and in a summer dress at a barbeque and thoroughly enjoying being me.

Wish this rain would piss off.

JustFabulous · 22/06/2012 18:09

Just had some bad news. Having half a glass if wine. Don't be cross I am failing.

bumbums · 22/06/2012 19:24

JustFabulous sorry you are feeling down. Don't beat yourself up. Tomorrow is a fresh start.

HaveALittleFaith · 22/06/2012 19:29

We're not cross with you, just worried! I agree. Start again in the morning.

JustFabulous · 22/06/2012 19:55

I started so confidently. I have been really good all day. Get bad news. Upset. Have wine. Fail again.

HaveALittleFaith · 22/06/2012 19:59

Having wine isn't failing!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/06/2012 20:07

Fab - Pauling is not about denial or 'success' equating to not eating, and 'failure' equating to eating.
