Oh that wasn't a question. Blush. So is spine-pressing right, or is it more of a passive exercise?

ppeatfruit · 12/06/2012 09:34

MorningSmile shot it's not a sit up (sorry if I didn't explain it properly) It's a crunch You're literally just bringing yr shoulders and chest up gently with yr head IN LINE (not poking forward or left behind). I'll try to post now 'cos i couldn't before and continue if MN is back on line.

ppeatfruit · 12/06/2012 09:38

...cont. If someone sees you doing it they'd say "meh she's not doing much'" but what it does is ACTIVATE yr belly muscles to continue burning fat when you're NOT DOING ANYTHING Shock Grin what could be better??

ppeatfruit · 12/06/2012 09:44

hello Ali Hope you're parents are well and the wine lake is filling up now you're back! Grin it's been much the same as England here maybe a little warmer Grin.

ppeatfruit · 12/06/2012 09:49

shot what I should 've asked you was could you feel yr belly muscles afterwards? If you could then you were doing it right . i do it on my firm mattress so if you were doing it on a softer one then maybe the spine pressing would be nec.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 12/06/2012 10:34

I was on the floor actually. Not sure what you mean by feeling the muscles. Definitely wasn't a strain doing it, and no noticeable feeling after either.
Maybe it's my dodgy back - I have mild scoliosis so the curve at the lower back is quite pronounced. Will keep trying, thanks.

ppeatfruit · 12/06/2012 13:58

Maybe it takes time; try it 3 or 4 times night and morning (I do it in bed and it really helps me relax to sleep afterwards!) the feeling is like the muscles are sort of buzzing! It's hard to describe it. I wouldn't think yr back would affect it one way or another; but you might like to look at yr wheat consumption 'cos in the Wheat Belly book by William davis M.D. (another book!) it talks about scoliosis being helped a lot by giving up wheat!

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 12/06/2012 15:38

< goes off to google >

ppeatfruit · 12/06/2012 16:29

We've got that book it's frightening actually; Dh has a real intolerance to wheat he's got the belly and the bad temper, exhaustion too Grin It just stops my digestion dead so although we live in the land of the baguette we don't indulge much (we've found an amazing baker who makes his bread with buckwheat) so much better! I can give you a hand if you need one to cut it out.

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 12/06/2012 16:59

I too avoid the wheat because it gives me quite explosive Hmm symptoms. When I'm wheat free my belly is much, much less bloated too! When I eat it I'm bloated, tired, sluggish..
If I've been eating it and stop I get blinding headaches and can get constipated. Without it I'm not symptom free but way better.

I'm delighted to say we have broadband at home (and good tv!) so I can post with ease. Not so delighted with the pain which has escalated. Frustrated and miserable!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/06/2012 07:10

Oh faith you poor thing. Who are you seeing? I would be pushing for 2nd/3rd/4th opinions from more consultants. Chronic pain is a weird thing.

Good day Pauling yesterday. This weather is making me so sluggish though, I just want to curl up and sleep!

Ppeat - we had a couple of really hot days and some with torrential rain. Their end of burgundy is very waterlogged, loads of rivers everywhere which flood into water meadows regularly.

HaveALittleFaith · 13/06/2012 07:30

Fanks solo. I'm 'friends' with my gym on FB who keep posting inspiring photos and phrases.....I want to cry because I want to exercise! I see myself losing tone and I'm so frustrated cos there's nothing I can do. O was So fit 3 months ago! :( Problem is they don't know who to refer me to, waiting on urology appointment but I have to see GP for more painkillers cocodamol just ain't cutting it and will ask what's happening re that appointment and if I should be referred elsewhere - like gynae or renal - too. I must get back into listening to the cd, I'm comfort eating old habits die hard and while it's not easy with this pain I could minimise the damage!

ppeatfruit · 13/06/2012 08:59

havealittle I'd recommend you take a look at Eat for yr Blood Type by Dr. Peter D'Adamo if you know your blood type you can get an app. for it and it is quite amazing for health; I'm on their FB and soo many people have been healed on it. I follow it and at 61 i've no health probs at all and arthritis and cancer and heart probs are in my family!! (apart from a varicose vein I had in my 20s!)

ppeatfruit · 13/06/2012 09:01

Oh sorry, morning all!! Smile

BigBoobiedBertha · 13/06/2012 10:08

Morning all.

Not eating will be easy today. I have a crown that is loose and feeling very weird and I really don't want to eat on it. I have an appointment for tomorrow morning though (At BW Alibaba - please tell me you use them and they aren't scary sadists like some dentists I have come across - I am a bit dental phobic and already nervous).

So today it is soft stuff and weird mouth juggling to stay away from the problem side. Wouldn't you just know that what I really fancy eating is an apple.Hmm

Faith - sorry you are still not well. Ali is right - chronic pain is weird. It almost becomes a condition in its own right, separate from whatever it was that started it off. It is like the brain forgets how to switich off pain and pain killers stop working. I remember when I had impacted wisdom teeth and was in a lot of pain (seems to be on a dental theme today) the doctor who operated to take them out told me to take the painkillers before the pain took hold because once it does, it has a mind of its own and is much harder to treat. That was quite a minor case because it would have got better once it healed but I wonder if it isn't worth going to a specialist pain management clinic. There is a branch of clinical psychology which deals with this - not because it is all in the mind but because it focuses on trying to kick start the brain in to behaving as it should. I think they use CBT. The psychologists don't work alone - they do work with doctors who can prescribe but clearly living off pain killers isn't a viable option long term. Is it just the pain that is making you feel unwell or do you have symptoms of some underlying problem too? Whatever is going on I hope you feel better soon.

HaveALittleFaith · 13/06/2012 14:32

Thanks both. I know my blood type so I will have a look. I suspect I eat too much meat regardless!
It started with pain first. I have urinary symptoms, I can't get through the night without peeing and it feels like my kidneys might burst when I wake up! It hurts before and during pees and now sex has become painful not so delightful new symptom Back to GP for more pain relief tonight and to chase up about referral. I've certainly noticed alcohol and fizzy pop make it worse so I've cut them out totally. Limited juice too because of excess sugar and tea because of caffeine! If the specialist can't find anything I guess it could be pain for pain's sake, it's all very odd...
Sorry your tooth is playing up BBB, nothing like dental problems. I find aside from the physical discomfort while eating it is a horrible pain that makes you feel quite sick at times. Perhaps liquid stuff like soup? Hope it's sorted soon.

ppeatfruit · 13/06/2012 15:17

havea If you're a AB then chicken is a no-no but you can eat meat ,not like A types who are alright with only a little; if you're an O type then you SHOULD eat meat apart from pork which doesn't agree with any of us. it's a fascinating subject actually! Smile

BBB poor thing (sympathetic emoticom) i've killed an infection in a tooth with garlic.lemon juice and echinacea BTW! Of course you guessed I'd say that! I'll shut up now Grin

HaveALittleFaith · 13/06/2012 16:22

I'm A+!

ppeatfruit · 13/06/2012 17:14

Oh! Like me Grin Too much protein is a problem for us! we have to get it from other plant based sources. Some A'types are just naturally veggies; I eat a bit of turkey,or guinea fowl and eggs, goats and ricotta cheese but i can always feel them in my throat IYKWIM! If you're interested i can give you a hand, it really does work for health.

HaveALittleFaith · 13/06/2012 17:39

Interesting my sister is too and she hardly eats any meat! I love my meat Confused but I did a high protein diet for a few months and lost weight but was rather Angry a lot. Didn't suit me at all! I'll have a nose at it.
GP has given me better drugs and suggested I ring to chase my appointment which I will do in the morning.

FartBlossom · 13/06/2012 18:08

That looks interesting. Im not sure what blood group I am, I think A+ but I can never remember.

Well Paul must be having some influence on me as Im certainly not eating as much in one go. We have discovered a farm shop near us (we've recently moved) where we bought some pork chops last week. They came in packs of 4 and as the DCs weren't eating with us (they were, but not eating the chops) me and DH had 2 each. Tonight we had them again and even though I had 2 on my plate I only ate one. I was just full. I know I could have eaten it if I wanted to, but I really didnt want to even though it was absolutely delicious.

I listened to the CD twice last night, but fell asleep both times and woke up when it started again (my ipod is set to repeat). After listening to it the second time I went to sleep properly.

HaveALittleFaith · 13/06/2012 18:35

I think you've got off to a great start FB! Don't worry if you fall asleep, it still impacts. I found that initially and now stay awake longer but still think I hear new bits every so often!

I had a quick look online and ok I admit maybe I was a tad skeptical but actually type A suits me to a tee! I think I may have to invest in a book.

HaveALittleFaith · 13/06/2012 20:46

Good grief I'm watching Secret eaters, they've the woman on a diet of 1500 calories a day! There's no way she'll sustain that - she'll plateau with her weight loss and I bet she won't be able to maintain such a low calorie diet long term. I tried it. It was depressing!

FartBlossom · 13/06/2012 20:58

thanks faith I've been feeling really bloated and tired these last two days. Though I had a busy day yesterday and putting it down to that, but it could be the time of the month as the last time I felt like this was just before my period came (I have the implant and I didnt have a period until about 6 weeks ago so Im not sure if Im supposed to have one or not) so it could be that too.

When I tried calorie counting I was given by food focus and my fitness pal just over 1600 calories a day. So boring counting them all the time, also I was always having things that weren't in the systems.

HaveALittleFaith · 13/06/2012 21:12

In the book Paul talks about a starvation experiment and how crazy it made people - they were on 1500 calories!

I'm proud of myself for proper Pauling with my dinner - tv off, chewing it. Chose to add veg to my gluten free Cornish slice and smell portion f chips! Yum yum. I've realised I'm more focused motivated with Pauling when my pain in controlled! So yay for more painkillers from the doctors. I'm off to shower and then do the cd before DH comes to bed!
