Gutted about the stewed steak. The recipe I have states its 0 syns.
I wonder if the rest of the ingredients are syns too?
They are mainly tinned veg (mushrooms, carrots, runner beans)

It's so cold today, might need to dig some jumpers out again.

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 14/03/2012 13:26

Sorry too hear about the gains people, but as lumpy says onwards and downwards.

I have just made a 1/2 syn roulade and it looks delish, filling it with quark mixed with white choc options (mades it 2 1/2 syns for the whole thing) and having this as an after dinner treat as having my neice over for tea.

Shall report back on the taste factor later.

Kid how was the creamy chicken something or other? and do you have the recipe please.

LumpyLatimer · 14/03/2012 13:28

Aw, quoted already, it's like I've been here forever :)

I agree IrnBru. It's so frustrating Pix and I have been known to kick the dog on these occasions. But You will hopefully have a storming loss next week, to compensate...

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/03/2012 13:51

Tinned veg should be ok kid. I was gutted about the stewed steak too, as I have a can of the tesco one and a can of the M&S steak and kidney in the cupboard. I was always very surprised that they were free though, given the nutritional info, so I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later!

MIS - I collated a load of my recent menu plans into one place recently, so I am going to C&P it here in a sec, in case it can offer any inspiration. If you need more info on what something on it is then just ask.

You, madam, are a star. Thanks so much for this. I shall now be going home and making butternut squash curry. I might even put an egg on top. I know! There's just no telling me.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/03/2012 14:29

Do you want the recipe lumpy? The one I do is yummy, but has a little coconut milk in, so is not quite syn free. However, muller have just brought out a coconut greek style yog that only has 1/2 syn, so I am going to try and get some and stir that in at the end next time to reduce the syns.

LumpyLatimer · 14/03/2012 14:32

Ooo yes please - always glad to extend the repertoire. The only thing about fat free yog is that it does split, no? Although I guess if you can do it just before serving. If coconut yog does work that would be incredible. Plus, I now want some Grin

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/03/2012 14:46

frylight
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2tbsp mild curry powder
500g b'nut squash flesh in bite sized cubes
400g can chopped tomatoes
200ml reduced fat coconut milk
chopped coriander to garnish

spray pan and put on medium heat
add onion and stir fry 2-3 mins. add curry powder, squash and tomatoes and fry over high heat for 2-3 mins.
stir in coconut milk + bring to boil. lower heat, cover and simmer for 10-12 mins or until squash just tender.
season, remove from heat and garnish with chopped coriander.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/03/2012 14:47

should have added that it serves 4 (allegedly Wink) and is 2.5 syns per portion.

Hedgepig · 14/03/2012 14:49

wow CSWS that is a fabulous list (do you want to come and be my mum and organise me?? pretty please Grin)

kid · 14/03/2012 15:54

Csws, that list is great and I'm sure we are going to be asking for lots of recipes between us.

MadeInScotlandFromGirders, the creamy chicken thing was quite nice but I fear I may have ruined it a bit by leaving out all night. I stall ate it though and I don't feel sick or anything so I'm assuming it was ok.
Here is the recipe if you want to try it, I do recommend putting it in the fridge overnight if its for the following day.

CREAMY CHICKEN, APPLE AND CELERY SALAD
Serves 4
ready in about 10 minutes

6 cooked, skinless chicken breasts, cut into chunks
4 red apples, cored and cut into chunks
4 celery sticks, trimmed and thinly sliced
25g baby leaf spinach
6 spring onions, trimmed and thinly sliced
a handful of fresh chives
2 hard boiled eggs, peeled and finely chopped

For the dressing:
200g fat free natural fromage frais
32 tbsp fat free vinaigrette style salad dressing
2 tbsp chopped gherkins
salt and pepper

1: Place the chicken in a large bowl with the apples, celery, spinach, spring onions and most of the chives.

2: Mix all the dressing ingredients together in a bowl. Por over the salad and toss to mix well.

3: Scatter over the chopped egg and chives and serve (or place in a lunch box and chill until ready to serve)

I burnt my hand today and its so sore, I'm sure I can't cook any more Wink
I found out that your brain only realises you are being burnt after 5 seconds of you holding on to the roasting hot tin. What an idiot I was. I had a teatowel in my right hand but clearly my left hand doesn't need any protection!

How funny that we have all syncronised our hormones. My star 'week' only lasted a day, if that. Is that normal for someone on the pill? I'm a tiny bit worried but not enough to make me rush off to the stupid drs. It was the same last month too.

Hedgepig · 14/03/2012 17:57

Ouch Kid hope it feels better soon, I do that sort of daft thing all the time

kid · 14/03/2012 18:20

I've discovered washing up hurts too, well the water hurts not the actual washing up! So, maybe I am off washing up duty for a while too? If only.

Dinner is on, I changed my mind about the steak pie as it required 2 tins of stewed steak. There is no way I was cooking a dinner containing 46 syns! I'd rather have a plateful of chocolate.

Speaking of chocolate, I have a new weakness in place of the cookies. Its those chocolate covered raisins and peanuts. I am hoping a whole pack is about 5 syns or less?
I haven't eaten that many but each time I've opened the fridge, a handful of them fall into my mouth. I've only been to the fridge 3 times tonight and my hands are quite small.
They are probably really high syn value. I am going to have to ban DH from buying them I think. He also bought cornettos but I'm not that fond of icecream so thats easy to avoid.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 14/03/2012 19:13

Short list tonight, where is everyone?

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 14/03/2012 19:26

csws thanks those look fab, will be pinching some of those. kid that pasta sounds lovely, just the kind of thing I need for work.

Also roulade was delish.

kid · 14/03/2012 19:52

Dinner was delicious too. I did chicken wrapped in bacon with spring onions and a cheese triangle inside. I did little roast potatoes in the skin for others and a jacket potato for me.
There is even some left over for lunch tomorrow.

I've sent my DoD just now. Left it a bit late this week.

Hedgepig · 14/03/2012 20:24

PMed you cheese, that tea sounds dead yummy Kid

Cheeseandbiscuits · 14/03/2012 21:51

Here is a teeny tiny list!

kid has lost 2lbs this week, total loss 1stone 5lbs
CSWS has lost 1.5lbs this week, total lost 3stone 2.5lbs
Pixiestix has stayed the same this week, current weight 10st 1.5, total loss 2st 10.5
hedge is still at target
cheese has gained 3.5lbs, start weight 13stone 3lbs, now weighs 11 stone 11lbs, total loss 1stone 6lbs

Least I owned up Wink

Well done kid and CSWS, excellent results.

Rianoceros · 14/03/2012 22:15

when I did my WI on Monday I had apparently gained 3lb, so you are not alone cheese.

Hedgepig · 14/03/2012 22:17

Ooo it's very teeny tiny isn't it, well done everyone for posting and very well done Kid all that hard work has paid off

kid · 14/03/2012 22:23

aww thank you. I've never been top of the list before!
I am amazed that I have actually managed to lose 19lb (sounds more when its put like that) without ever having been to a SW class in my life. I really couldn't have done it without the support and advice from everyone on here. If I had carried on the way I was going, I was at risk of gaining another 19lb I reckon.

I should be to start counting down to a target weight soon. I just need to plan a realistic weight to reach. I don't mind too much how long it takes me to get there, as long as I keep losing.

To celebrate tonight, I've had a curly wurly, a cookie and the rest of the chocolate covered peanuts and raisins Blush I also skipped using the powerplate tonight as I've been in agony with my leg.

I think everyone will have a better loss next week what with all the hormones flying around this week!

SlinkyB · 14/03/2012 23:13

Well done kid for being List Topper for the first time! It happened once for me too and we'll done csws for losing again.

Definitely think the rest of you can blame TOTM Wink. Lots of Doomers MIA too eh? I've no chuffing clue how, but I was bang on 11st this am, so dead on target. Most odd but won't complain.

kid · 14/03/2012 23:22

Well done for being on target slinky, it doesn't matter that you don't know how, the important thing is that you are!
