So, pull up a chair, settle in and make yourselves at home Smile

Huffhope things get better for you at hme and the same for everyone having troubles on the home front.

slinky hope you feel better soon and sorry you dp is not being sympathetic (just remember what goes around comes around and man flu will hit soon enought).

Super well done with bells on to bee, 7.5lb is massive thats like newborn baby! Im well jealous as im up for a gain due to dodgy wagon door incident.

Well done to all the other losers as thats a pretty good loss from you all.

Must strive to be better next week week as a sneak on the scales has confirmed a gain althoug i have today and tomorrow to pull back maybe 1lb so might not be so bad!

B - fruit and yog
L - omlette and salad
D - Spag bol and salad

Not sure on HA or B yet.

grinningbee · 26/04/2012 10:05

Morning everyone!

Thanks for the well dones, but I really should have gone bottom of the list Wink

I only did well becauses of being such a piggy in the run up. I said to Face that the top of the list should be for the "constant triers" or people genuinely starting for the first time. Not greedy guts like me! So Kid you are therefore the top this week. Ner.

My food for the day will be this:

Ready brek, 1 x ryvita with 1 tsp reduced sugar marmalade (0.5 syn), banana
Omelette with ham and cherry tomatoes, yogurt and an apple
Beef rogan josh with veggies, 2 x slices hobbit bread

As for next weeks' list - it's open season!

Ooooh! My post has just arrived containing the SW Little Book of Soups.

just flicked through a couple so far, but OMG they look good. It was only £3.95 off the website. I shall have to try some out now! Better write a list for tomorrow...

OP posts:
FairhairedandFrustrated · 26/04/2012 13:45

Bee, that wee soup book is brilliant!! My fave recipe book! I love the chicken noodle soup one :)

Food today all free so far, am home now go going to make lunch, unsure what but there's plenty in th house for syn free stuff.

Choc, re: certified sausages - sw haven't renewed the certificates as some butchers were changing the recipes but not letting people know, therefore the syn value would have changed too. You'll know by the amount of fat that comes out when you cook them :)

I know one near me were farrrrr too tasty to be low syn and sure enough the news came that no butchers were getting re certified. You didn't hear it from me but sw are allegedly at the minute trialling their own meats and ready meals.....

grinningbee · 26/04/2012 14:07

Ooooh, interesting news I didn't just hear FHF. That would be fab, and hopefully not too expensive. Not the ready meals though, I like making the stuff myself!

I shall be looking at the book properly later for the first one to try, but at the moment the beef curry is bubbling away and smelling gorgeous!

ooooooooooooooohhhhhh but i luv them!!!! Shock

I had 2 this week and have another 6 in the fridge so i will count them as a low fat sausage syn wise, btw no fat comes off not one smidgeon - I do them on the george so keep a check on that type of thing. - just checked low fat sausage and they are 1 or 2 syns depending on thickness which isnt too bad will add a couple of syns if its a long one!

Will mention to SW leader on Wednesday because she is still plugging the butchers to the group!!!!

Given myself a slap now and ignoring last nights result, silly to get all uuuurrrgggghhhhh over it, so just going to continue writing it all down and i know i will loose next week, when i can i will post diaries.

Thanks for letting me rant last night Blush

PS Bee you did amazing xxx

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/04/2012 14:40

That does look like a fairly good food diary chocolate! I guess that things to watch are to make sure that your veggies/fruit are at least 1/3 of each meal (we obv can't see your portion sizes from a food diary), and if you aren't losing what you'd like then try to up it to nearer 1/2.

My first thought was that you should vary your breakfast and lunches, but you have already picked up on that yourself.

Are you strict in measuring your salad cream and sweet chilli sauce etc? I know that I struggle to keep sweet chilli to just 2 syns when I have it.

And is your pitta bread the co-op or asda one, as they are the only ones allowed as a HEb? And likewise is your cottage cheese def a free one?

They are picky points, but trying to find reasons for your lack of loss in a fairly impressive food diary!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/04/2012 14:42

That's very lucrative for the business exciting fhf. Am not so bothered about ready meals, but syn free sausages that don't just taste of pepper would be much appreciated!

Chocolategirl3 · 26/04/2012 15:06

Hi CSWS

Yes I am really strict with measurements, DD thinks I'm mad! ( I ate out a few weeks back and measured out the tomato sauce much to my friends amusement!)

Pitta is the Asda one, just ran out so need to ransack cupboard for alternative lunch tomorrow!

Yes to the cottage Cheese its Adsa's Good For You fat free one

Going to have scrambled egg for breakfast tomorrow made with the cottage cheese along with the fruit

I cant see where i've gone wrong either, its annoying but hopefully it will work out.

I will have more than a third of the plate as veg and hope that helps xxx

FairhairedandFrustrated · 26/04/2012 15:40

Really even if they're not syn free 2 aren't going to damage your loss.

CSWS I'm not impressed re ready meals either, but same as you re sausages :)

Right off I go to get ready go to work!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/04/2012 18:15

I just had speed curry sauce! It was quite nice actually. Similar to chip shop curry sauce, if not quite as nice. My 21 month old liked it too, but 6 year old (fussy) didn't, and 3 year old claimed he didn't but I don't think he actually tried it.

SlinkyB · 26/04/2012 19:17

I WI this morning and am, miraculously, still within target. Phew.

choc I think your food diary looks good too, are you exercising any? I know when my losses slowed down it meant I had to start exercising (groan). Saying that, you've not been doing SW long have you? So prob a bit soon to start platau-ing? (sp?!). If in doubt, just copy bee's food diary Grin. Oh, and don't worry about ranting, that's what we're here for; it's that kinda thread!

Feeling a lot better today (thanks for all the get-well-soon wishes - they worked) but still phoned in sick as am shattered and only around 75% better. Want to be 100% better for the weekend, as last weekend was practically written off thanks to this cold. How are you now face?

I'd be well up for SW bringing out some ready-meals, but I'm a lazy junk-food addict most of the time.

kid · 26/04/2012 20:38

kid · 26/04/2012 20:46

Hit send, oops!

I went back to the gym tonight for a bootcamp class. I figured that the instructor wasn't too shouty or pushy so it would be a good class to go to.
Imagine my horror when a different instructor appeared to take the class!

It was 45 minutes of pure torture. I don't even have asthma yet nearly 2 hours after the class and my breathing still isn't quite back to normal. My chest feels like its bleeding on the inside is the best way I can describe it.

I had a long soak in the bath and was really looking forward to my chocolate club. I think they are worth the 5.5 syns.
DH had only eaten the last 2
I ranted and raved and demanded he went to the shop to buy me some more but he just laughed at me.
I had 2 light choices cranberry and black currant bars which I think are 3 syns each.

Am posting from phone so can't respond to posts. I'll reclaim the laptop from DS shortly.

LakeFlyPie · 26/04/2012 23:07

EveningSmile

Bee - piggy-in-the-run-up or not, 7.5lbs in one week puts you at the top of the list. No arguments Grin

huff you must be so excited about your folks imminent arrival Smile

CSWS glad you enjoyed the speed curry, did you just have it as a sauce or did you embellish it?

slinky well done for still being at target in spite of feeling crap

choc you're diary looks worthy of a loss. How about some super speed foods, not sure if they still advocate those for encouraging weight loss?

kid you've made me remember a penguin biscuit I saw lurking in the depths of my bag the other day, don't even know where it came from and I don't particularly like them but it's chocolate and I haven't had any since restarting SW.
Will do a quick diary of today's food and see if I've earned it....

Food today (a red one at last!!):
BF: Muesli, FF yog, apple
L: Hobbit ham sandwich, orange, apple
D: Red onion, tomato + ham omelette, cottage cheese, FF strawberry yog (1 syn) + banana
Yep, reckon I can have the 5.5 syns; brew and penguin it is before bed Smile

LakeFlyPie · 26/04/2012 23:10

Sorry kid, meant to say well done on killer gym session and Angry at your DH for Chocolate Club Incident, the last 2 Shock

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/04/2012 23:23

No embellishments this time lake - wanted to try it first, and had it mainly because we were having chips and I was trying to avoid having cheese in my omelette (because too much dairy for me means sore tummy for bf ds1) so wanted something else with some flavour.

Food for today (green):
B pasta twists, broccoli, cheese (HEa)
S banana
L easy bean tagine and cous cous (not what was planned, but our boiler which is also our hob was still being serviced so not useable), melon
D actifry chips, grated courgette omelette, speed curry sauce. mango.
S toast (HEb) and butter (syns but I don't know how many), 1 hi fi light (other HEb combined with the smidge of oil in the chips), diddy graze box flapjack (4 syns).

kid · 26/04/2012 23:27

I am going to buy some more and hide them from him. Or I'll buy 2 packs so we have some each.

I'm planning a red day tomorrow too. I've got as far as chicken curry for dinner. I haven't planned breakfast or lunch yet which is a bit stupid of me. I've got an idea but will need to make it in the morning as I'm too tired to start now.

Bee, you totally deserve to be top of the list. I've never lost 7.5lbs even on my first ever week of sw so you definitely need to be top of the list.

Slinky, well done for being within target. Its so annoying to have to do the hard work of dieting to get to the right weight and then having to work at staying there too. I'd like to get there and just stay there by magic Grin

Chocolate, you have a good range of foods there but I'm no expert on SW so can't comment or give advice on helping you, but of course I'm happy to read what the experts in the group suggest so I can try some if need be.

Lake, penguins aren't that nice really so I don't think you should waste your syns on it. Send it over to me and I'll look after it for you.

When DH ate my club, I was going to throw his biscuits in the bin. He loves choc hobnobs so I bought him 3 packs. I should have just got extra clubs as the hobnobs are not worth 4.5 syns each. I'd rather go without as 1 biscuit just isn't enough.

My bed is calling and my belly is rumbling which is a good time to go to bed before I eat anything else.

Can I just recommend the potato and spring greens tortilla, it was absolutely gorgeous.

FairhairedandFrustrated · 26/04/2012 23:39

Evening all!!

Bee what an amazing loss, you totally deserve it!

Yes, SS foods are still recommended for boosting your loss! Choc are you pretty sure you're having your 1/3 superfree at every meal? And trying to make all snacks between meals superfree/speed? And getting your 8 cups of water a day?

My menu for today has been OK.

Breakfast: Banana, pink lady apple, raspberry & cranberry muller light

Snack: Kiwi, plum

Lunch: 2 400g bread (heB) 2 (hard!) boiled eggs, low fat spread (2) followed by a green apple, kiwi and 2 plums

Dinner: sw chilli and rice (and some left over for my lunch tomorrow) packed full of peppers, onion, mushrooms etc

HEA was my skimmed milk for the day.

Syns: low fat spread (2) 2 hifi lights (6) whisps (4) Total: 12 (I never usually eat that many syns but was hungry)

Had a bit of a brighter day today - fingers crossed things are looking up.

Chocolategirl3 · 27/04/2012 07:46

Hi guys, not exercising really, I will get back n the Just Dance tomorrow as thats the only exercise i can tolerate apart from skiing! and as theres no snow....

Water hmmmmmm not drinking 8 cups more like 3-4 will increase as of today.

Definitly having one third of the plate as super free and measuring everything.

last night i had

Sausages which i will now syn = 6
potato
30g cheddar heA
beans
and a mound of mangetout which was more than one third.

Breakfast is scrambled egg with cottage cheese and an apple

Lunch - jacket potato , cottage cheese with an apple followed by a muller light and possibly another apple

need to shop for salad and veg as have run out completely hence the apple with the potato at lunch! might nip out of the office and pay £2.50 for a bit of salad from the local rip off butty shop instead!

So basically my diary is good so if i stick with it and exercise drink more water and have some more super speedy foods (strawberries here i come) then i should be good for a loss....going for it xxxx

Thanks for all your help girls Thanks

grinningbee · 27/04/2012 08:42

Good morning everyone!

Lake Hold on to your penguin!! Methinks someone has her eyes on it Grin

Kid Shock at your DH. Eating the last of your clubs is worse than treason.

Choc From the dim and distant past, I remember an old consultant of mine saying that fizzy drinks kept you bloated, even if they were diet ones. Whether or not it's true I don't know. And we're talking probably 16 years ago.

FHF Glad things are looking better again! Smile

I need to add 10 syns to yesterday, making 10.5 as I had shortbread last night.

Today is looking like:

Ready brek, 1 x ryvita with 1 tsp reduced sugar marmalade (0.5 syn), banana
Cheese triangles on toast, yogurt and an apple
Left over beef rogan josh, veggies and 2 slices hobbit bread (6 syns)

Thanks everyone for saying about the loss this week. Don't worry, it won't be that much again in one go! That's more than I've ever done in a week too. I'd be much happier with a steady 2.5lb a week for a bit.

I'm off shortly to try and get both of the dc a haircut. If you can imagine trying to give a cat a tablet (and the scratching and loss of skin that follows) this will be what happens with ds. He hates it! I have bribed dd with the promise of a milkshake in McD's if she's good. I shall have a cuppa.

OP posts:
Huffpot · 27/04/2012 12:44

Good luck with the haircuts Bee. My 2 only tolerate them as my hairdresser spoils them rotten

I am getting excited about my parents arriving but have a manic couple of days before they get here. I have a hospital appointment Monday morning to check a suspect mole and then my pre op assessment on Tuesday then they arrive first thing Wednesday morning.
Thank goodness a friend is watching the children on Tuesday so I don't have to bring them for what may be a long appointment

I need to get to the shops to get a few bits but am dreading the torrential rain that is looming. Still see how it goes when DS2 is up from his nap!

B:Weetabix and banana and coffee
L: Pasta with rakes of vegies, a little chilli sauce and cheese
D: unsure yet - if I get to the shops maybe stirfry or sticky chicken
..just depends whats in the freezer otherwise!
Snacks: Fruit
Will prob have an options later tonight and an Aero orange biscuit(5 syns) but goes nice with hot choc

grinningbee · 27/04/2012 14:48

Huff I bet you can't wait to see them! Good luck with all the hospital stuff. The op is in a couple of weeks isn't it? The orange aero biccy sounds delish

Ah, the haircuts. It was closed when we got there. Soooo, ended up taking ds to the barbers next door. I've never used it before. The dc were pounced on by a staffie which terrified them both (I was told it was friendly). I should have taken it as a sign, but we carried on trying to get ds a haircut anyway.

He hated it.

I had to restrain him, and he screamed and cried through the whole thing. It hasn't been done properly because the poor woman was terrified of snipping him! Still, at least he can see now. Then I had to go to McD's (poor dd was so good, and I had promised) and he was still sobbing so hard his breath was hitching. I found the answer - chocolate milkshake. That shut him up!

He was still drinking it in the pushchair back to the car and no, I couldn't see what he was doing. Yes, he took the lid off. There was a lovely mound of it in his lap. And I still have to take dd to get hers done! I think we'll save that for next week. When I've recovered! Grin

Face are you off decision making somewhere????

OP posts:
Chocolategirl3 · 27/04/2012 20:53

Peeing like crazy with all the water i'm now drinking!!!

Bee you made me laugh re the messy milkshake, however i am now dreaming of one...I can almost taste it!

Had a good day today had Breakfast and Lunch as mentioned up post and did get the most amazing salad to go with the jacket potato for lunch. Both B & L were syn free.

Dinner sausages - 6 syns
cottage cheese
wholemeal bap -heB
Cheese - heA
served with cucumber, spring onion, baby peppers, beetroot and 1 tablespoon salad cream - 1 syn

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/04/2012 21:59

Food diary for me today (EE):

B wholewheat pasta twists, broccoli, cheese (HEa)
banana
L herby quinoa salad, mango
D parsnip chicken (c3 syns), fine green beans, cabbage, carrots. Strawberries.
2 x ryvita fruit crunch (HEb) and 1 slice toast (4 syns) with chocolate philadelphia (4.5 syns) and smidge of butter on the bit that I ran out of philly for (2 syns).
734 cals burned at the gym this morning.
