Morning! 4 circuits of BFBM this morning (very short of time), including hellish circuit 6. I think next time I'm going to use some light weights for the punching and upper cuts in circuit 5, and reckon I can introduce weights for some of the other moves as well trying to make up for only doing 4 circuits. Probably going to do a Killer Buns tomorrow. Sorry Venetia, can't help on the elbow front, not that mine are too clever.

Great work on the running front, those of you getting out there. I think JM might be up for a webchat - I read the other day that she's just become a mum, has adopted a baby girl from Haiti, so you never know...

knottyhair · 15/03/2012 10:02

Sorry, cross posted Rosalux. It's great when you start to notice a difference and good luck with the CD.

threestepsforward · 15/03/2012 10:26

Oooo Venetia, your wedding, how exciting, congratulations Smile Do you know I've never thought to look hard at my elbows, and now I have a new part of the body that is unsatisfactory Grin Mine are dry and rough, nice! I reckon some gloopy hand cream and pummice will help them?

Well done greenfig and everyone else. I too had a lazy rest day yesterday and will be doing BFBM again today as my back is still not 100% and I think it's the strength/weights aspect that won't help until it's better.

Aw, that's lovely about J and her adoption plans Smile

Will check in later after BFBM late afternoon.

Congrats venetia! Try bottom butter in baby aisle at Waitrose. Smells like ice cream not bottomsGrin I was quite toned when I got married due to a physical job but put on over 1/2 stone on honeymoon. H 'joked' that I'd already let myself goShock ps I never lost it-just gained moreSad
1/2lb down this am, 1st mini target met (2nd time due to last w/eWink). Sorry for stats but results keep me going. Anyone know what ideal body fat % is? Fancy pants scales tell me I'm over but not sure what I'm aiming for.
knotty do you have a girl crush?Wink Googled her myself last night 5'2"!!!

greenfig · 15/03/2012 11:07

rosalux Will be interested to hear how you get on so can you report back?

notyummy · 15/03/2012 11:24

Greenfig - ideal body fat depends partly on age. For my age (40) healthy is anywhere between 21 and 33% apparently. 'Lean'/fit is 21 to 24/25%. Athletes may be below the 21% but that should be carefully managed. I am around 23% and would like to be slightly lower, but my bottom prevents me Grin.

greenfig · 15/03/2012 11:29

23%Envy Am about 30% & also 40. How long have you all been shredding? Do you think I can get it down without running? I hate running & back can no longer cope so I have a good excuse. I would say I am active though & of course a newly re-dedicated shredder!

notyummy · 15/03/2012 11:33

Running is good tbh, but I am sure it is not the only thing! Building muscle important as that burns fat, so dont be scared of using reasonable sized weights (back allowing.) Also being careful with processed carbs (i.e I rarely eat bread or potatoes, and eat small, carefully measure portions of pasta/rice.) I do allow myself a cake everyday though - basically I cut out what I can without making myself miserable, so I am happy to have the soup without the bread, but would sulk without coffee and cake afterwards. I don't drink very much at all now - couple of time s a month if I go out or we have friends over, and i think that has made a difference.

gingercat12 · 15/03/2012 13:13

Venetia I used cracked heel cream on my elbows (that is what I found by my bed when I realised what state my elbows were).

I am also doing RI30 L2, on 8th day today. I finally can do proper plank jacks, but my calf muscles hurt so much afterwards that I cannot do proper mountain climbers or any jumping / running. I will just have to persevere.

I have new shiny running shoes, so I can go out this weekend if the weather stays sunny.

gingercat12 · 15/03/2012 13:13

Oh and good luck with the wedding Venetia!

stacysmom · 15/03/2012 15:31

First ever attempt at 30 Day Shred just completed. Come on veteran Shredders, I can take it. How much is this going to hurt in the morning?

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 15/03/2012 15:39

My thighs hurt after day one but while I was waiting for my DVD to arrive I had tried level 1, a couple of days earlier by following it on the internet.

I only managed 8 minutes and could hardly walk the next day, coming downstairs was worst. Grin

greenfig · 15/03/2012 15:53

Yes look out for the jelly legs stacysmom!
Thanks yummy I am lo carbing as much as poss & trying to cut out alcohol at least in the week. You're right it makes a huge difference but I am weakSad
Can anyone give me some inner thigh exercises that are not Jillians horrendous looking feet on stool thingy on you tubeShock Am hoping my new dvds will have some in but while I'm all keeny meeny.
Right I'm off to shred, maybe I'll get hardcore & try L1&2Grin

stacysmom · 15/03/2012 15:56

Anyone know if Stannah can install a stairlift overnight?

GetOrfMoiiLand · 15/03/2012 16:01

Hello everyone.

Stacy well done. Day 2 of any of the circuits is the worst - you ache all over and think 'I can't bloody well do this'. You will be fine.

I did L2Ripped on Tuesday (Monday was a day off), L2 6W6P last night and am working at home today, so am just about to turn the laptop off and go and do L2 shred. NMTZ tomorrow. I am keeping the back to back circuits for the weekend so I have time to collapse on the bed afterwards and read trash magazines!

How does everyone find out their body fat?

chocolateshoes · 15/03/2012 17:18

was also going to ask how do you find out your body fat percentage? Mind you we haven't even got any scales but I suppose I could pop round to the neighbours!

Am sooooooo glad its my rest day today - can feel the effects of back to back JM yesterday particularly on my legs. I quite like that though!

This thread is getting really busy - welcome to everyone new!

threestepsforward · 15/03/2012 18:54

Greenfig the sumo squats spring to mind for toning thighs (and bum as an added extra!). She does them on NMTZ, BFBM (with hops), Ripped I think and possibly L3 Shred? You could also try googling and I'm sure you'll find someone doing it out there on t'web

Yay stacysmom, well done! You will feel pretty damn achy today/tomorrow but push through it if you can and it will ease in a few days. Second the advice to take care coming down the stairs!

Chocshoes I don't have scales either. Actually mum does and I'm at hers at the mo...don't think I want to know though. Haven't weighed myself for about 8 years!

BFBM done again, hurrah! I added my lightest weights (1.5 kg) to some of the cardio in circuit 2 and the boxing. I love that dvd and I'm definitely not the complete mess after it that I used to be. I don't think I'm phoning it in...

Hopefully something different tomorrow if my back behaves.

Have a good evening everyone

Am just about to cook so I'll try not to waffle too much....

Greenfig I do the same sort of thing as Notyummy. I do similar exercise to her I think (but not the duration), running and Jillian, maybe a spot of yoga. I too try to lift as heavy as I can while maintaining form. I low carb, rarely eating bread, pasta, spuds etc. I rarely drink alcohol - infact I usually drink tea, 'funny teas' or water. I am still losing fat so I don't have the cake yet, but I will when I find a balance I am happy with.

I am 44 and my body fat is Just under 23%. I didn't used to take my neck measurement so it is a guesstimate but when I decided to start looking after myself in Jan last year I think my body fat was in excess of 35%. Stick with it, you'll get what you want if you do.

jellibelli · 15/03/2012 19:41

Chocolate have a look here it's a guide to measuring body fat. I am just dithering about buying some calipers so in the meanwhile I use the US Navy Method. I prefer to use that rather than the scales, as it gives a better idea of body composition, which is what I am interested in, not what the scales say.

Happypiglet · 15/03/2012 20:30

Hi everyone it's well busy on here!
So many questions so little time!
Getoirf I am 42 and according to my posh weighing scales which I just purchased I am around 23 % body fat which I think is fine. If I lose too much body fat my top half looks scrawny but I still keep the uber bottom!
Greenfig in NMTZ the last circuit has inner thigh exercises. You get in a side plank position on the floor, bend your top leg up and rest it on the floor in front of you, point the toes on your bottom leg and raise and lower. Does that make sense?
So far my mega working week marathon is going OK, RI30 L2 Mon, BFBM Tues, NMTZ weds and RI30 L1 today.... Either L2 RI30 or Killer buns tomorrow not sure which yet!
Blimey Threesteps I find circuit 2 on BFBM really hard. And faint at the thought of weights with it! If it wasn't for the abs section and the boxing bits I think I would actually die doing the whole of BFBM.... But I like the calories it buys me on MyFitnessPal!

Sparklyboots · 15/03/2012 20:43

OOO congrats Venetia; any chance of pics in the dress when it comes? With strategically displayed elbows, natch?

Hello Staceysmom; I am just about a week ahead of you. I find the killer is the build up of fatigue that hits you when you do the pressups or shoulder presses or those awful 1-leg-bent-and-shoulder-raises at the end of L1 on later evenings. But I am thinking that my arms are already showing progress so push through them, specially with Jillian shouting at me ("when it hurts, those are the ones that count!").

Think I need to join you Rosalux; most of my nutrition comes from chocolate atm. Was going to put in an embarrassed emoticon, but I don't think it quite covers it. Really want to change.

About to do my day 9/30DS and did my killer intervals today (3x20 times up the stairs of my building - 28 steps, fact fans - doing slow, fast, fast. Making myself feel nauseous with effort = pass. Trying to look nonchalant in front of maintenance guy = FAIL).

Have worked out a lovely pattern of runs etc. today and am so looking forward to it all. Considering doing a 10k/ in the near future with a lead in to the GNR in Sept... but probably getting ahead of myself. Should probably stop planning and start Shredding.

chocolateshoes · 15/03/2012 20:46

which scales did you get Piglet?
Thanks for the link Jelli - will have to buy a tape measure!

chocolateshoes · 15/03/2012 20:48

Have you tried Tabata for inetrvals Sparkly
