chocshoes Tanita body composition scales off amazon... They tell you all sorts of stuff I am not quite convinced it can possibly measure with a few electrical impulses through your feet... But hey ho....

GetOrfMoiiLand · 15/03/2012 21:09

Thank you for that US navy link jellibelli - according to that I have just under 21% body fat, which seems quite good. Reading that site though says that calipers are far more effective so I think I will get some of those. I am low carbing at the moment and my aim is to lose another stone, but I haven't lost weight for a while, and think my body compisition is changing, so may have to rethink the target weight.

notyummy · 15/03/2012 21:17

Yes, I wouldn't have thought you should lose anymore if you are at 21% Getorf- you potentially get into 'tiny arse and haggard face' then Grin.

I find if I can keep my BMI around the mid 21s then I quite like what I see in the mirror. Wouldn't mind losing another 1% body fat....but not enough to stop eating cake!! I am tall (5ft 10) and a size 10- I wouldn't mind a smaller bottom, but even when I have been rhe lightest ever (10lbs lighter then now- and friends were really worried and staged an intervention) I still had a bottom!!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 15/03/2012 21:26

I didn't know what my bMI was so just had a look (using this hysterical link www.bmicalculator.co.uk/ which has an animation of a woman who gets fatter and thinner depending on what figures you put in. My BMI is 20.3.

I am a bit astonished because I can still pinch more than an inch around my middle. So I think I could do with losing a bit more/toning up more.

notyummy · 15/03/2012 21:41

Will take you right to the bottom of the healthy range Getorf - just ding overdo it [mother hen emoticon]. I think it depends a bit on age. A 25 year old can probably get away with being light because they have a natural lift in their face. Over 40 them it shows IMHO (unless people have some - ahem- help.)

jellibelli · 15/03/2012 21:48

Getorf love the link! (although quite shocking to go from my 'fat' start weight to my 'normal' current weight. Yikes!)

I think you probably do need to reassess your target weight. I can't imagine that you have another 14lbs of fat to shift - your number maybe off (unless you weigh around 14st 4lbs) otherwise you are trying to shift essential fat or did you want to lose that hard earned muscle? lol!

jellibelli · 15/03/2012 21:48

Of course MY numbers might be out Blush

chocolateshoes · 15/03/2012 21:55

hmmm maybe I just won't stress about it all. Am happy that I'm so much fitter than a year or so ago since starting JM. Am definitely trimmer. And there's no way I can give up creme eggs...

GetOrfMoiiLand · 15/03/2012 22:15

Well, I am 6 foot tall and currently 10 stone 10 (started off at 12 stone 3 in December, and when I was aht my slimmest I was between 10 and 10 and a half stone. But that was a unfit weight before I started working out. So I picked out of the air a target weight of 9 stone 12. Perhaps 9 stone 12 is too small.

Sparklyboots · 15/03/2012 22:28

Tabata looks intriguing, thanks Chocolateshoes... need to access some stationary equip though... or mebs do a run version on a steep bank round our way?

Am tres jealous of all the leggy types round here; I'm 5'1" (both directions). I have been a very happy 7st 6, a bit less at times but I would crash if I went hungry for 10mins, so think slightly heavier is best. Probs need to recalculate for milky boobs, too - I used to be a A cup but am C/D at the mo (bfing). So somewhere between 7and a half to 8 stone would be good - probs got about a stone to go (no scales).

Sparklyboots · 15/03/2012 22:33

OOO, my Kung Fu instructor has no time for BMIs by the way - most of my (pre-baby) training partners - REALLY fit guys in the non-pervy way - were technically obese according to BMI measurements. But they all had less than 20% body fat. Kettlebells are the big thing for those guys - totally planning to incorporate some into my schedule at some point post shred etc.

notyummy · 16/03/2012 07:30

Getorf- if you are 10.5 stone and fit then at 6 foot you will look AMAZING. Agree 9 12 too low. I know everyone is different but at 9.5 stone and 5 10, people kept asking me if I had been ill Hmm which wasn't quite the reaction I was looking for! I also find that I can stay around this weight without thinking about it (ie I eat what I want and work out and I stay around 10 5/ mid 21 BMI. When I was lower, every day was a battle. Bit miserable.

rosalux · 16/03/2012 10:05

RI30 L1D5 over. Feeling quite positive about next week and will report back on both the increased weights and PMcK CD. I had to re-order PMcK as I had inadvertently given it away thinking I had it in my itunes library, but due to computer issues I don't Sad. I got DP to take some photos of me in my underwear this morning so I can see what effect JM's workouts are having (so easy not to really see). I'll get him to do it again in 3 weeks and 7 weeks and hopefully be amazed at the transformation.

VenetiaLanyon · 16/03/2012 10:07

Hello all, RI30 L3 today; one of the most testing circuits on Jillian? Discuss Grin

I am on the shady side of 40, sadly, and my face and boobs definitely look worse at a lower weight (I'm not dieting, just shredding), but I feel so much better (fitter and healthier), that I think it's a price worth paying. Am aiming to maintain now: I am 5 ft 6 and vary from 9 stone 3 and 9 stone 7; at this weight I feel fine and can indulge myself with nice food; best of all possible worlds!

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 16/03/2012 10:13

I'm 5'1" (both directions). I have been a very happy 7st 6,

I would LOVE to be 7st 6lbs!

5'1" here and 9 st 3 this morning Shock that means I have lost 1lb from 9 days of lv 1 shred Confused
I'll be really happy to get down to 8 1/2 stone

I must have more flab than I thought!

knottyhair · 16/03/2012 10:16

Morning! Rosalux, bet your DP found that a chore Grin! Hope you feel able to post the results on your profile! Venetia, I definitely find L3 the hardest of the Ripped levels to get through, prefer L4 by a mile.
I did L1 Killer again this morning - I really enjoyed it. Managed advanced versions with added weight for most stuff - tried adding weights to the swimmers but could feel my lower back pinching so I dropped them put them down, and if I try to raise my leg in the sumo bridges, I fall over Blush. Next time I do Killer, I'll do L2 again, then might try L3.
Interesting to hear about all the different shapes & sizes on here! I'm 44 in May and lost 2.5 stone last year, have been maintaining since September. I'm 5' 4'' and find 9 stone is very doable whilst exercising regularly and eating more or less what I want to. I did go down to 8 st 10lb in November (not sure why, some sort of fluke!) but it was too much hard work to keep it at that level, and my Mum kept saying "don't lose any more, will you?". I'm a size 10 on top (quite booby Grin) and an 8-10 on the bottom so I'm happy with that. Keep it up everyone, such a brilliantly busy thread!

knottyhair · 16/03/2012 10:17

FruitShoots, congrats on losing weight, brilliant!!

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 16/03/2012 10:23

Thank you knotty. I started 30DS more for toning than weight loss, although weight loss would be lovely too but I'm still eating whatever I normally do, which isn't very much tbh! Am very Envy of people's weights posted on here.

I do think my stomach is looking slightly less now, but it may be wishful thinking. Grin

Happypiglet · 16/03/2012 13:23

Interesting weight discussion! I am 5' 4' and currently weigh 8 stone 13 and think I am going to just try to stay at this. In my younger life before kids I was always 8 and a half stone but don't think I can achieve this now I am the wrong aide of 40! Plus I tend to get a scrawny top half rather than loosing weight from where I want it to go from (bottom!)...
Well my plans to work out scuppered today by DC2 having day off with an ear infection.... Might try later after they are in bed... Although also struggling with cramp from time of the month...sorry TMI Blush
I just don't seem to manage 5 workouts a week unless I do at least one at the weekend and last weekend was impossible.
Oh well four times is not bad...
Happy Friday everyone...!

threestepsforward · 16/03/2012 15:52

4 times a week sounds good to me Happypiglet. I think if you can manage more that's great, but 4 as an average sounds pretty fine! I didn't mean weights in circuit 2 BFBM by the way (that would be hardcore), I meant the jumping jacks, butt kicks circuit, is it 3?

Hmm, I can't really contribute much useful to the weight talk. I had a very unhealthy relationship with food and dieting over 10 years ago, and it went on for years and miserable years. Thankfully (and I honestly give thanks daily) I am through that but getting better included turfing the scales out of the window! I can always tell by my clothes if things are going awry. I'd guess I am somewhere between 8.5 and 9 stone, and 5.6 tall, which I think is probably right for me. Discovering I am intolerant to white carbs (bread, potatoes, pasta etc.) has helped me keep on track too I'm sure.

Still a bit of stiffness in the back so, gawd, I will have to go at BFBM again. 3 times in a week?!?!

Echo what the others have said up thread, this thread is fantastically busy Smile

TwllBach · 16/03/2012 16:04

Hello - I have been directed to this thread, is it ok if I join very late?

I have just done Day One Level One (I feel capitalising it is appropriate) of the Shred. I did get to about day five of level two last year, but gave up. I am determined to see it through this time, but I may have to intersperse with days of 10 minute Pilates because I am a quitter

I have jsut had a shower after doing it and the jelly legs has kicked in now! But I do find that it makes me feel better in myself - more positive! I think it must be the icnreased blood flow to the brain Grin

chocolateshoes · 16/03/2012 16:23

Welcome Twllbach!!! I find sometimes that my arms are so tired post JM that it hurts when I shampoo my hair!!

Venetia L3Ripped is horrendous I think and I also much prefer L4.

I've done a double again today L4Ripped followed by L3Shred. My legs are tired now. We live up quite steep hill and walking home from school with DS just now hurt!

Its the weekend - woohoo!

Buzi · 16/03/2012 17:18

I want to do the shred ! I started it whilst travelling with my husband ipad and hotel room ..I WORKOUT WITH A TRAINER twice a week but am lazy and cn't motivate myself..! I liked the shred and it is quick my question is if I do 30 days and I eat v spartan healthy diet what happens do you lose what she claims ? Ihad a BIG healthmissue a few years back and gained a 2 stones have a bmi of 25 ...serious challenge to my self esteem as I am now a chunky girl ! I know it is a normal, weight but size 8 to a 14 ...so can you inspire me to sh.red ...i am fit...or would imbe better on the 5k ...running makes me hungrymthough ?

Buzi · 16/03/2012 17:19

Oh ps can I join or is it too late :)

greenfig · 16/03/2012 17:31

Thanks knotty, 3steps & piglet I'll give those a try. rosalux I think I'll do the photo too-it really helped when I lost weight, sometimes it can be hard to see the changes day to day can't it? I need something concrete hense weight/bodyfat charts. I am 5'5 & 9.8 & my v. rude scales tell me 28% bf. I lost 1 1/2 srtone 18months ago & would now like to lose just a few more lbs & tone & fitten up. I am seriously impressed at your fitness levels & dedication infact I think I'm on the wrong threadGrin but I will just take baby steps. First aim is 9.4 but looking at all your stats perhaps I should be more ambitious? I was 8.4 when I got married & don't think I've been below 9st since back from honeymoonBlush
I had a rubbish shred last night-Jillian died 1/2 way through L1! Did L2 but had lost my stride after waiting to get to section then had to make a couple of dodgy pelvic floor loo stops. Aim to try her now but hoping amazon will hurry with my new ones. Have a great w/e everyone & welcome twllbach you won't struggle to keep up with me!!
