FruitShootsAndHeaves · 12/03/2012 16:54

Thank you and yes my name is a play on words about a book Grin

threestepsforward · 12/03/2012 16:58

Grin I loved the fact she got so worked up about apostrophes that she wrote a whole book about it!

have done Tabata and demolished a creme egg. It'll be a relief when they're taken off the shelves again!

Arcadie · 12/03/2012 21:44

Total lardy weekend away with ladies from church. I got outside of a scary amount of chocolate cake. No exercise (beyond stretching for another brownie) since Weds. Feel noticeabley heavier which has made me a little Shock . Today however I've done a 5 mile run. Which only took me 35 minutes ... (oh, ok it took me an hour...) Back on the Jillian bus tomorrow...

jellibelli · 12/03/2012 23:00

I didn't run toady I did L4 Rippped instead Hmm

But at least i could remember it today Wink and could crack on much more woth the exercises than i managed on saturday. i think the last circuit is less bad than the other 2 but that is relative. I think i prefer L3 on the whole and will reuse this DVD a reasonable amount after i have finished this commitment.

I do remember on saturday after i had finished L4 for the first time, then threw myself in the shower because i didn't have much time as i had an appointment for my hair and i was in danger of being late. When i left the house a few minutes later i though i would jog to the hairdressers, my legs were NOT keen, and it was only a 3-4 min run. I think they were pretty tired despite not feeling too achey during the dvd.

For some reasons i am not so keen on BFBM or NMTZ and don't use them so much. I think it maybe because i don't have time to do the whole thing before work as i would rather sleep for longer and feel a strong sense of phoning it in if i only do 3-4 circuits. [guilty emoticon]

Sparklyboots · 13/03/2012 00:05

I did a 'run' today and 30DS L1 this evening, while baking brownies that I have not been eating -a lot of-. I did get disturbed by DS part way through and can't help feeling that it's a bit less effective if you take a 20 min lying down break in the middle of it. I am too wuss at this time to just start again from the top.

LOL at being a bit sick and insane Threestepsforward; I am feeling a bit more broken and torn than shredded. I swear my arms look more toned (only 7 days in) but my upper body strength was always good and it's my fat arse that I really want to change. I just want it to be all contained in the actual arse area; it's halfway down my legs. Most unattractive.

What is the general recommendation for after 30DS? Have just checked her website; yoga meltdown sounds hilarious and the only kind of yoga I could go for. Has anyone done the kickboxing one?

Sparklyboots · 13/03/2012 00:13

ha ha, just had to add; checking out her books on Amazon with their look inside function - there's some classic Jillian in Making the Cut, which is "not some namby-pamby 'lifestyle' book that's going to waffle on about 'moderation' for 'better health' and leave you with the warm-fuzzies." Brilliant.

jellibelli · 13/03/2012 07:47

Sparkly if you are in the UK be careful of where you can play the DVDs, some are only in US format. Unless you have one of those multi area players. Envy

knottyhair · 13/03/2012 08:23

Sparkly, Jelli is right. I don't think either of those are available here yet. If you are in the UK, these are the ones you can get: No More Trouble Zones, Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, 6 Week 6 Pack, Killer Buns & Thighs, Ripped in 30. NMTZ and BFBM consist of 6 seven minute circuits (NMTZ is strength based whilst BFBM is cardio, no weights). 6W6P has 2 levels, each about 30 mins. Killer B&T has 3 levels, about 35 mins each. Ripped has 4 levels but is the most similar to 30DS, about 25-30 mins, same 3-2-1 format. Enjoy!

Happypiglet · 13/03/2012 09:05

Must do BFBM must do BFBM must do BFBM.....where is my motivation? Has one of you nicked it?

VenetiaLanyon · 13/03/2012 09:32

Hello all, back with a gentlish L1 shred after injury today; feels ok so far...

Threesteps, does our amazing synchronicity mean that you're back in the saddle too? Grin

rosalux · 13/03/2012 09:52

So, cold gone (almost) and back in the JM (or 'pump it lady' as DP calls her) saddle. Reading through your posts has really fired me up. I've just done RI30 L1 D2 this morning and feeling so much better, although now I have the fear about L2. I'm aiming for 5x week and 2 weeks on each level which will take me up to my friend's wedding. I'm also eating better now I no longer have the I'm poorly excuse. Plus, whilst I fell of the 'no sugar or alcohol' wagon spectacularly at the weekend (thank you caramel eggs) and won't be going back on it quite as hard core since I just seemed to replace sugar with bread and butter (albeit home made, the bread not the butter, goodness that would be hardcore), I'm feeling more positive about this aspect. I managed 30DS whilst inhaling family size G&B bars and 1/2 bottle of wine every night and still noticed a difference, so I'm hoping not doing that will result in an even more noticeable difference and an ability to get into the coast dress I bought 3 yrs ago in a size 8 and have never worn, but now that bf has obliterated my boobs I may be able to if I stick at RI30. See you all tomorrow x

knottyhair · 13/03/2012 10:03

Seems to be the day for getting back into it, me too Rosalux and Venetia. I did a L2 Ripped after only doing one Shred in the last 2 weeks. Really enjoyed it, even the killer 1st cardio circuit but not the devil's own squat thrusts. Managed 3kg for all except the serving biceps (had to drop to 2kg). Am I weird for really enjoying the sit-ups with leg extension??

Nolda · 13/03/2012 11:08

Come on Happypiglet, you'll feel so much better once you've done it!

Feeling the after effects of NMTZ today, shoulders and abs mainly. Will do Ripped L2 or shred with DH if he's back in time this evening.

greenfig · 13/03/2012 11:53

Can I join you? I managed a few days of 30DS last week & already feeling the benefits. I did it last year & felt so much stronger-then didn'tBlush!
Was thinking of getting another, am interested to see ripped is most similar format, which I like as it changes just as I 'think I'm gonna die'! I least like the weights/strength sections & I only use cans of grapefruit! Can you tell me how long the 6w6p takes (jelly belly) & BFBM & what it is (prefer the cardio to weights) Thanks, am determined to lose 7lbs & tone up for summerGrin

knottyhair · 13/03/2012 12:26

Hi greenfig. 6W6P is about 35 mins from including warm up and cool down, and BFBM is about 40 mins (7 x 6 min circuits) and is all cardio really, no weights, so it sounds like you should love it! You can just do a few of the circuits if you're short of time. HTH and good luck!

greenfig · 13/03/2012 12:57

Thanks knotty. Am going to try to fit in a shred before school run so I don't wimp out tonight. Did you have good results from 6w6p? Also, what does BFBM stand for?
Anyone maintaining having toned & lost weight, if so how many times p/w do you shred? Apologies, will read through thread properly when I have a minute, don't want to use it as my excuse not to have time to shred nowGrin

threestepsforward · 13/03/2012 13:03

Hope you managed your shred Greenfig. BFBM stands for "Banish (or burn?) Fat Boost Metabolism". It's a punch-packer of a DVD and if you enjoy cardio you will "enjoy" it!

Venetia, still a bit sore but most definitely much better so will be attempting something late afternoon. Just trying to work out what's best to do with the least impact on that part of the lower back, not much I'm thinking!

Happypiglet · 13/03/2012 13:24

Thanks Nolda I found some motivation under the sofa and have done BFBM... It is STILL hard but I phoned it in less today only gave up on jump jacks and scissors....
Greenfig I am not trying to loose weight as such and try to do some form of Jillian 4 or 5 times a week. I get bored doing just one so mix it up a little. BFBM is intense (and knottyhair i count it as 48 minutes including the warm up!) and I also like NMTZ which is strength based and same format of around 48 minutes (but my heart still pumps too!)... Then on other three days I am moving slowly through Ripped.
Threesteps go easy on that back!

knottyhair · 13/03/2012 13:54

Greenfig, I lost 2.5 stone last year and have been maintaining since September. I do some kind of Jillian DVD at least 5 days out of 7, sometimes 6. I get quite twitchy now if I don't do something and it means I can eat more. I also get bored very quickly so I mix it up and just do something different every day. I still do all the levels of Shred & Ripped - the only one I haven't done yet is Killer L3. Happypiglet, I'm sure you're right about the timings, I rarely do BFBM all the way through Blush.

notyummy · 13/03/2012 15:17

For those of you struggling to fit BFBM in because of time, I really recommend cutting out the warm-up. The first circuit is pretty gentle cardio IMO, not that tough at all, and very similar to the warm ups in NMTZ or Ripped. Circuit 2 is much tougher....but if you have warmed up foing circuit 1 then you are OK. Cuts out 5 minutes without losing much of the workout IFYSWIM, as ther warm up doesnt really even get you breathing deeply anyway.

Going to try and do L2 6W6P tonight. Or maybe L1 and L2 of Ripped, simply because I am curious and haven't done them before! Anyone done them back to back? I am assumming that L1 not too tricky, but a few people have mentioned there is a hard cardio bit in L2...?

threestepsforward · 13/03/2012 16:04

Greenfig I'm not dieting, but I guess I must be maintaining through JM stuff. I aim to do at least 5 sessions of something a week, it doesn't always work out though. That level of activity seems to have kept me ticking over at a reasonable weight and shape.

Notyummy, I suspect you will breeze through L1 and 2 back to back! The killer cardio bit in those is the plank jacks followed by mountain climbers.

I only just discovered I've been doing mountain climbers wrong - I've been putting my foot down at the top rather than keeping it up in the air, making it twice as hard! I'm very pleased I decided to look up at the screen the other day!

All this talk of BFBM, I've decided to go for it today as I haven't done it for so long. In terms of lower back, it's probably the least heavy going, and my back definitely feels better today. Wish me luck! Will check back in later if I survive it Smile

OP posts:
notyummy · 13/03/2012 18:46

Ls 1 and 2 Ripped done! Overall I think L1 is probably easier than L1 of the Shred. L2 def a step up and has its moments - that cardio bit is tough, and those crow press-ups....I had forgotten about them from L1 6W6P! Always difficult to know what weights to use on the first time round of something. I started with 3 kg for everything but worked out for the second go through that I could use 5kg for everything excpet the side lunges and sumo squats.

jellibelli · 13/03/2012 19:06

Ooh! Good news.

I have just got in from work and I was just gunna go straight ahead and eat but you've inspired me to get Ripped L4 first. Thanks everyone. Back later on.
