Well still plugging away with RI30 L4 done it 4 times now and still not sure I am doing those strange push ups in zthe last circuit right! And also why is doing a squat and shoulder press sooooo much harder in the static squat position agony!
Thisisasign you have reminded me that I MUST get back to a longer session each week. I haven't done BFBM (which I loath!) or NMTZ since before my enforced week off at Easter... I think I need a kick up the backside to reintroduce them!
Weight has crept back up to 9 stone so need to stop eating so much Rubbish and focus! I love in fear of weight creepage!

moajab · 15/05/2012 23:49

Thats a good idea Gypsy about using the sofa for the side planks. I always feel so guilty when I can't finish because my arm has given way!

A loose waistband in my jeans is something I've noticed too! Will have to buy a belt as can't afford new jeans at the moment! But still hoping to get out my summer clothes soon, so perhaps some new jeans in the autumn!

knottyhair · 16/05/2012 08:34

Hi everyone! Just popping in to say I'll be dropping off the thread for a while - turns out the "vertigo" symptoms I'm having with my cold are because I'm about 8 weeks pregnant! A complete shock at nearly 44, and have very mixed feelings but mainly positive I guess! Anyway, just wanted to say keep up the good work and all being well I'll join you again early next year! xxxx

notyummy · 16/05/2012 09:02

OMG! Congratulations Knotty. What amazing news. All the best for you and your family.

Thanks everyone Smile! I'll try not to miss Jillian (don't think she does a pregnancy DVD?? Grin) and hopefully see some of you next year xx

Gherkinsmummy · 16/05/2012 14:37

Hello, can I join in please? I love Jillian Michaels, she is evil. I've gone all the way through 30DS and have just ordered Ripped in 30 as I've been getting bored. I also have BFBM and NMTZ but my lively toddler doesn't like me doing a 40 minute workout so its something I can only really manage at weekends. So looking forward to taking it up a level with Ripped as well as cycling most days and doing the C25K. Happy Jillianing everyone - finding this thread inspirational!

crikeybill · 16/05/2012 14:39

Hello all, can I join please and also ask some advice from you experienced shredders Grin

I have a good 3 stone to lose. I have managed to lose 1 stone through starving myself healthy eating but i really need to boost it now.

My problem is that my experience of exercise is basically 30 mins on the Wii fit every now and then and thats it Blush

My questions are : I was going to start with the 30 day shred and see how i go. If I do this alongside healthy eating will I lose weight ? Also, I have a dodgy knee will it make it worse ?
And finally am I too fat to do it Blush

greenfig · 16/05/2012 14:52

knotty that's so exciting!! Many congrats, lots of love & take good care of yourself, make sure you're spoiledSmile

notyummy · 16/05/2012 14:52

Hello Crikey!

If you do this and watch what you are eating then you should lose weight. Some people find it more motivating to measure themselves because they see the inches disappearing before the pounds IFYSWIM!

You probably do need to be careful if you have dodgy knees. There is some relatively high impact stuff in there. That said, most of the exercises have modified versions so you could start there.

Re the size thing - Jillian says in one of her 'motivational' Hmm moments 'I have 400 lb people doing jumping jacks and so can you.' Grin I think she intends it for all sizes. It is hard work, but definitely achievable for anyone if you have the right mind set (and no serious health issues.) And only 20 minutes!

crikeybill · 16/05/2012 15:05

Its the 20 mins thing that sounds weird. Can it really be that effective ? Do you do it every day ?

notyummy · 16/05/2012 15:19

I think she recommends 6 out of 7. Some people do 5. It is 20 tough minutes! The 'science' bit is that it builds lean muscle (not in a scary body builder way!) and lean muscle burns more fat, therefore you are burning more calories through the day by raising your metabolic rate. I think the 20 minutes burns around 250 calories which is not that many on it's own, but is has much more beneficial effects overall because you burn more calories in general.

PrematurelyAirconditioned · 16/05/2012 15:57

Crikey, I also had iffy knees and I do find 30 day shred very hard on them. 6 Week 6 Pack is much easier on the knees IME.

Anyway. I am officially signing in to this thread. Waist 29 inches Hips 39 inches. Favourite skirt waist 28 inches hips 38 inches (I had the waist altered specially). Target waist 27 inches Target hips 37 inches. On my mark. Get set. SHRED.

threestepsforward · 16/05/2012 18:27

Welcome Prematurely, Crikey and Gherkin Smile

20 minutes does sound short, but it really does work! Definitely measure yourself if you can, and like notyummy said if you're eating well too you will definitely see a change!

Knees and JM stuff can be a bit tricky. See how you go and if it just doesn't work for you you could switch to another DVD. Give Shred a go though and take it easy on the one that's dodgy. My DP Shreds and also has dodgy knees but he just modifies the bits he knows will give him problems.

I shall be Shredding in a mo. I didn't yesterday as my ever-niggling calf tendon(?) twanged a bit at the end on Monday so gave myself a day off.

I have to say I've gone off the boil a bit but I'm going to light a firework under myself now and bring my "A game" (thank you, by the way, for whoever pointed out that this was what she said and not "bring your egg in" Smile)

Ah Threesteps that was me... I never hear well whilst panting!,
OMG Knottyhair congratulations and good luck. Please pop in before a year has passed and let us know how the pregnancy goes...
Crikey it does work. Although it is 20mins that is without the warm up/ cool down so add some time on for that. And those 20mins really hurt. I have lost 5 ish pounds without really changing my eating habits so if you eat well as well I am sure it will really work.
It does build lean muscle so I feel stronger and look much more toned. If o ly I could stop eating rubbish I would look amazing!!
Well did Killer L1 today which I enjoyed and had a sneaky watch of L2 and OMG it looks so hard...not sure I will ever be able to do it.
Not much time tomorrow so will do Ripped L4

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 17/05/2012 12:16

Hi all

I'm still 6W6packing! I can't even remember which day or week I'm on Grin
I must have done 3 weeks at each level by now.

I don't like level 2 much. I find it really hard to balance whilst doing those low to high moves fast, and they don't appear to stretch any muscles at all. Maybe I'm doing them wrong. And the chopping, what is that all about? I don't want to have lumberjack arms just a flat stomach Grin

However this morning I was 8 stone 12 and a half so I am losing weight doing it more so than I did on level 1. I can't see myself ever getting down to 8 and a half stone though.
I've lost half a stone since I started which sounds good but my BMI is still 24 which to me sounds a bit plump! I'm becoming a bit weight obsessed and I didn't want to get like that.

I've also tried 3 mats and none are much good, the latest one is too short and not grippy enough to do the Tea stain kicks as I call them!

I've spent hours looking at exercise mats, the mountain climbers are making my carpet all fluffy! Tempted to buy a rubber equipment mat just to protect it from the fluffing and my excessive sweating perspiration

I'm going to try Ripped next
Hello to all the newcomers and congratulations Knotty!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 18/05/2012 07:58

knotty congratulations!

you've I wouldn't worry about the weight and BMI is not accurate as it takes no account of the fat/muscle ratio. I threw my scales out when I moved last year, have no idea how much I weigh. I measure myself instead.

threestepsforward · 18/05/2012 09:34

Morning all Smile

Happy try L2 Killer, it's really good!

Youvecat well done on the weight loss, that's fantastic!

Have been thinking about what you said about scales/weighing. You're comment re obsessing a bit about scales is exactly the reason I don't have any anymore. I now go by clothes and how tight they feel. It can be so demoralising to see weight go up, even by just a pound, when in reality you or anyone else would never notice, and the chances are you'd lose that pound by the end of the day anyway!

Join me and Thisis on a chuck the scales revolution Grin

Rubber equipment mat sounds good, very tough! Luckily I have floorboards or I'm sure there would be a hole in the carpet by now!

Well I did L2 Shred last night and it's a busy day here so hopefully I will be able to do something late afternoon - I'm thinking L1 Killer...

Have a good day everyone Smile

Thanks for all the nice messages, you lovely bunch Smile. I will pop back on to have a nose from time to time. Told DS last night and it was a mixed reaction to say the least (he's been quite happy as an only for 8 years bless him). He's saying "I don't want the baby" one minute and suggesting names the next (Buttercup for a girl!). Anyway I digress - good luck with all the hard work xxxx

nicnacinoonoo · 18/05/2012 16:07

Congratulations knotty I'm sure your ds will get more and more excited as the pregnancy goes on.

I've been really ill so haven't managed any exercise for a week. Stopped being sick but now I'm full of a cold, but I sucked it up and did a ripped today anyway and it wasn't too bad. Just need to keep myself away from all the bad food, I always want to eat loads when I have a cold but I've been good so far. Just want to get back into my dvds again now.

superdeeduper · 18/05/2012 18:55

Do you mind if I join you all? I discovered Jillian through MN and have become a big fan. Started off with the Shred and I'm now just starting L2 RI30. And I now know what you mean about the plank cardio part! My god it is hard.
Trying to lose a stone, maybe more, with the help of MFP too. I've also ordered the Abdo dvd and was thinking I could maybe do this 3 times a week also. I did find a difference between Shred and RI30. what is the 6 pack one like?
