I've only done 30DS and most of 6W6P so far

I'm not finding Lv2 of 6W6p stretches my abs as much as level 1 but there is more cardio. I need more ab work than arms and upper body. I have a Spaniel to give me arm muscles Grin
I might try Ripped next then as I don't think I'd survive for 50 minutes of NMTZ!
I will need something to er...look forward to after i finish 6W6p , although I will probably repeat some of the workouts apart from level 2 of shred Thanks all!

threestepsforward · 10/05/2012 21:00

You could get Ripped and save NMTZ for a weekend "treat" Smile

Or, if you look on amazon, I think there is a deal on Killer and Ripped -both for £12 or thereabouts (Killer's really good too by the way, although doesn't particularly target abs).

Right, will check in tomorrow if I survive L3 or L4 Grin

well done Happypiglet with L4 Smile

you'vecat, NMTZ and BFBM can be set up so you select circuits, each circuit is 6mins or thereabouts, so you can work your way up to the whole thing. NMTZ has circuits that focus on different parts of the body. Ripped is very good though, actually they are all good, although some focus on certain parts of the body, I always feel like I have worked out everything, did L2 of 6w6p earlier and because she uses a lot of squat moves to raise your heart rate you still get an effective lower body work out.

threestepsforward · 11/05/2012 18:12

Yay, did L3 Ripped Smile

Feel like I'm getting a bit more up to speed. Hope to fit in another session of something over the weekend, most likely Killer...

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good news Threesteps!

I did L2 and L4 of Ripped today. Hard work. Those nasty charyumba press ups or whatever they are called. And that cardio circuit in L2 that is all in plank position (planks jacks and mountain climbers for 2 minutes....thanks Jillian Hmm) Planning on a run tomorrow but my back feels a bit dodgy....

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 11/05/2012 18:25

Well done three, I'm going to take advantage of the rain stopping and go out for a cycle, expect to be covered very shortly in mud!

DilysPrice · 11/05/2012 22:46

Hi chaps. I'm signing in as I'm back doing a concerted JM exercise after a gap of a few months in order to stay fitting in my new, rather tight, skirt.

Question I have is, have any of your male DPs had a go at one of the JM workouts? Which one would you recommend (I have most of them) and what did they make of it? I'm trying to persuade DH to give it a go, just out of idle curiosity, and do he understands what I'm rabbiting on about. OTOH am scared that with his superior upper and lower body strength he'd breeze through it and make me feel like a total wimp.

threestepsforward · 12/05/2012 05:41

Notyummy I'm with you on that double-plank cardio horror in L2 Ripped, so mean!

Hope you had a nice bike ride Thisis, it's looking good today too weather wise...

Hi Dilys Smile Welcome back to Jillian'ing!
My DP does Shred and is a bit of a convert. It took me a while to persuade him as apparently it was "for girls" ut he changed his mind pretty quickly! Shred's the only one he's done so far, but I think notyummy's DH does pretty much all of them? If you're worried he might breeze through it you could start him on L3 or L4 Ripped [evil Grin]

Dilys- Dh does all the JM DVDs except BurnFat Boost Metabolism (which he has tried but doesn't like.) He is pretty fit and in the military but funds them tough. That said, we nearly always do 2 back to back if they are shorter (like Shred or Ripped) and we have a selection of weights up to 7kg to challenge him.

DilysPrice · 12/05/2012 08:31

That's true, I've got 3 and 5 kg weights I can give him if I think he's finding it a bit too easy Grin

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 12/05/2012 08:34

Hi three, good ride yesterday, managed to avoid mud by sticking to roads, am going out again in a bit as it's lovely here, might do a JM later though for upper body. I don't feel like I've done any exercise if I haven't done any JM which is daft really as I burn more calories on my bike than by doing one of her DVD's! I do have her voice in my head as I'm going up the hills telling me my heart is gargling.
Hi Dilys, I haven't managed to get DH to do any JM, he fit as does a lot of cycling but I think he's a bit afraid of all the press ups and planks, he's seen the state of me when I'm finished!

greenfig · 12/05/2012 13:37

L1 6w6p for me yest & will prob do same again today. My back is sore from riding I think which makes lots of the moves a bit slow & tricky. Have suddenly dropped down 3lbs this weekShock not that I'm complaining! Am out tonight so hope I don't undo all the hard work. Hope you're on the mend venetia

ChipOnMyShoulder · 12/05/2012 20:47

Hey folks
Can I join in? I can feel myself falling off the 'jillian' band wagon, and I need you guys to get me back on.
I have shredded for nearly a year (Level 3 my favourite), dropped a dress size, and kind husband bought me RI30 for mother's day (Hmm). Problem is, I find RI30 really hard. And I mean, really hard. I tried Level 3 the other day and nearly died with the duck walks. I thought Level 2 cardio was bad enough.
So, my question to you is:
should I just stick with Level 3 shred, and try to up my weights
keep trying with RI30. Do you think this is actually a better/more effective work out than the Shred? Do you think it gives better results?
Have big wedding to go to in August, and need to look tip top......

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 13/05/2012 10:37

Hi Chip, I do understand what you mean about RI30. I started it a couple of months ago but I don't do it every day, I swap between the other DVD's, because of this I find some of the moves difficult as I'm not getting used to doing them. I think some of the moves are a bit different from shred, I'd trying and stick with it, maybe swap it in and out with shred (use heavier weights) as it will help keep boredom at bay, especially if you have been doing shred since last year.

ChipOnMyShoulder · 13/05/2012 16:39

Thanks, This. I'll try to persevere....
I don't think I can manage to do it every day (or 5 days per week). Do you think 3 times a week is enough for general toning? My weight is OK, I think, but tummy still a long way from a six pack.

threestepsforward · 13/05/2012 16:58

Hi Chip Smile

Honestly don't give up. I think the feeling is pretty unanimous that Ripped is a step up from Shred, levels 3 and 4 anyway (and that god awful plank cardio bit in L2!). I think it was in the last JM thread - full of whinging from me that Ripped was too hard, so you're not alone! I try and look at it that while it's hard for me, it must be doing me some good!

Stick with it and Thisis's suggestion of mixing Ripped up with some Shredding on days you don't feel up to Ripped is a good one.

I reckon 3 times a week will make a real difference in toning...I often don't manage to fit in more than 3 or 4 sessions a week.

Greenfig congrats on the weight loss, great news! And you ride? Horses? I am Envy

Finally back into Jillianing after a week off with a combination of my shoulder, some house renovations and some serious essay writing. Convinced my DD to do 6w6p with me last week... she thought I was trying to kill her ... she was great at the leg work ( horse rider) but rubbish at abs and has decided that it is all far too much like hard work :)

moajab · 14/05/2012 13:10

I've been doing 6w6p a couple of times a week now for three weeks with Shred on at least two other days. I haven't noticed any difference yet.... but the tape measure tells another story! :o Feeling very happy today! Still struggling with those side planks though, especially when resting my weight on my left hand!

gypsyfloss · 14/05/2012 16:52

Moajab I do my side planks leaning against the sofa arm/edge of the bed. It takes the strain off my shoulder but I can still do the leg movement. Would that help your hand ?

threestepsforward · 14/05/2012 20:08

Hello Gypsy and Moajab, Jillian's resident 6W6P'ers!

That's a good idea re the side planks. I often do the cheat version with one leg slightly bent, but not sure that helps at all with the arms! I do love that exercise though as you can really feel the side of the abs crunching.

Moajab great news the tape measure is behaving Smile Are you noticing it with your clothes too? After a month of Shred, when I started out, I was so shocked (in a good way) with how much difference there was in waistbands of jeans etc.

Well I copped out yesterday, just felt too rough. Didn't feel too clever today either but managed a L1 Shred. I think I would have melted into a pool of tears had I tried any of Ripped, Killer or anything else today!

VenetiaLanyon · 15/05/2012 10:29

Hi all, I'm back and doing some gentle shredding Smile; my back's still not 100%, so not risking anything more tricky until back from honeymoon (when I won't be taking my trainers...)

Glad to see that there looks like good work has been going on in my absence Grin

notyummy · 15/05/2012 10:34

Well done Venetia! My back is also slightly dodgy ever since I did my double Ripped session on Friday. Not sure what it was that twinged it, but I have stayed off ripped/shred/6W6P since. Managed an 8.5 mile run on Saturday in the sunshine, which was nice, and did NMTZ with DH on Sunday. Nothing yesterday as I was giving blood. Not sure whether to do something today in case the effects of giving blood are linmgering. May try one level of something as I can only fit something in on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

gypsyfloss · 15/05/2012 16:12

Just done R30 L2 for the first time. God she's bossy in that. Not sure whether I ( or indeed my shoulder) liked it or not...

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 15/05/2012 19:10

RI30L4 and killerL1 today. I've moaned before about killer L1 and 2 not feeling like they have done much so did it holding weights a'la Natalie (I think), I think I will feel it tomorrow!

Chip, I think if your weight is ok, 3 days a week would be sufficient for toning. I think the best one for toning is NMTZ, the tricep circuit is agony. It's longer but you can select circuits if short of time and the moves are more old school as Jillian would say so I think easier to pick up than some on RI30. There's a couple of core and ab circuits for that 6 pack.
