No wifi so can't look at those links until later absurd- suspect I will need to ensure I dont have a mouthful of coffee when I look!

Have just done L2 Shred followed by L4 Ripped. Was a bit achey after my return to NMTZ yesterday (where I managed both sets of surrenders at 5kg) so it felt quite hard today. My knees are feeling it too- three days of hard exercise inc long run on Friday= creaky knees. Day off tomorrow, which is good.

I think I said further down the thread that L4 Ripped has a horrid cardio bit in circuit 1. Having done it today, that is wrong. It is circuit 2 cardio that is a killer- and circuit 3 strength. Circuit 1 is surprisingly ok I think.

Gwithianrocks · 22/04/2012 14:24

Shredded! Shattered.

Gwithianrocks · 22/04/2012 14:28

life those links are brilliant!!

Lifeisquiteabsurd · 22/04/2012 20:36

notyummy Not at all. Taking a big mouthful of red wine just before viewing. Possibly while sitting on a cream fabric sofa. I'm sure Gwithianrocks will back me up in saying that you should suffer no adverse reaction. Grin

Hi there Smile

I was hoping to get some advice from you experts In jillianing!

I am on day 12 of 30ds and my calves are aching and it is really affecting me doing the cardio on all the levels ( I am on level 2). Am I doing something wrong? Also I'm confused about whether to do it everyday for 30 days or take a day off now and again. I have missed one day so far due to other commitments stuffing my face on a rare night out

I keep reading that jillians plan is flawed as you need to rest your muscles and shouldn't work out every day. Confused

also, I am trying to loose my fat belly after three dcs and I was steadily losing weight, about 1 -2lb a week but since doing the shred I have gained 2.5 lbs and the scales do not budge. Should I not be dropping the lbs. I have not changed my diet since starting the shred. Where am I going wrong?
How long before I notice a difference?

notyummy · 22/04/2012 22:11

Firstly, make sure you measure yourself and use that rather than weight. I do think that taking a day off is a good thing- but doing some thing active on that day- perhaps a long walk? About the calves- make sure you are stretching really well at the end of each session- much longer than the few Jillian does. Also, try doing this stretch on a step: stand on it with your heels hanging off the back (so only half your feet are on. Then drop one foot as far down as you can so your calf and Achilles feel really stretched. Hold for at least 30 seconds for each leg.

Happypiglet · 23/04/2012 08:27

Hiya return visit I have been Jillaning since January and I still find some cardio moves tough. I have improved but it was certainly slow going. I can't really advise on the weight loss as that wasn't my main focus. Also Jillian DOES recommend at least one rest day a week and says you should aim for 5 or 6 sessions a week. I aim for 5 as that fits in. I do think a rest day helps you to recover a bit.
Good weekend here did RippedL2 on Sat and Killer L1 on Sunday. I always think Killer is going to be an easier day as there is less cardio but by gum it is not easy!

rosalux · 23/04/2012 08:57

RI30 L3D6 done. Felt much better after a weekend off, even managing 3kg and some of the Bee moves. Diet went completely to pot though, so think I'll have to go back to actual tracking and 1500 cals a day until I establish some better habits to go with my jillianing. Keep up the good work ladies x

greenfig · 23/04/2012 09:11

Right, I have failed miserably to fit in anything this w/e but have had a lot of a juggle so back to it with gusto today. Will save looking at the links for coffee later!

VenetiaLanyon · 23/04/2012 09:23

Morning all. Smile

First 5k run in nearly 2 years on Saturday; I stopped running after breaking a bone in my foot. I had so much more stamina on Saturday than I had when I used to run regularly. That's what a year of Ms Michaels does for you - hurrah! Grin

knottyhair · 23/04/2012 10:13

Morning all! After 2 weeks of nothing due to holiday stuff/illness/soft tissue damage in foot, I'm back to the land of Jillian this morning. Eased myself in gently with circuits 2/4/5/7 of NMTZ and I think it was a good decision as even the warm-up cardio set me off coughing again! I could certainly tell I'd had 2 weeks off but it feels so nice to be back Smile. Great work going on here and hi to all newbies! Venetia, congrats on the 5K!

threestepsforward · 23/04/2012 17:47

Hello all and well done everyone getting on with it / back into it Smile

Welcome return! I'd definitely have at least 1 day of rest a week. Her stuff is quite hardcore so I think your muscles need at least a day a week to recover...

Knotty great news you're feeling a bit better, take it easy until your chest feels better (if it's even possible to take it easy with a JM workout!).

Venetia, well done on the 5k!

It's really interesting to hear some of the long-term feedback from doing JM. Your endurance on the running, my pigging and the lack of visible weight gain - and I think someone else, was it you Greenfig?, mentioned the same. I heart JM so very much Grin

I am feeling very feeble lazy at the moment after a lovely weekend, but made myself do a L1 Ripped yesterday evening and have just done L1 Killer. Think I will do L1 6W6P tomorrow. Hmm, I can see a pattern developing there...

Hope everyone's had a good day Smile

Happypiglet · 23/04/2012 18:28

Well was struggling to motivate myself today so thought I would 'take it easy' with a L3 Shred... Easy it was not! Still feels like a good work out!

knottyhair · 23/04/2012 19:53

Threesteps I do all the workouts in rotation and the next few days for me are Shred L1, Ripped L1, 6W6P L1..... a similar pattern?? Mind you, you can "soup up" any of the Level 1s and they're still tough IMO!

gypsyfloss · 23/04/2012 20:27

Yay, 6w6p L1 followed a brisk and very wet 2 mile dog walk.

VenetiaLanyon · 24/04/2012 09:31

L3 Ripped today; the squat jumps get me every time.

And I worry that Basheera is injured (clearly Natalie does L2 RI30), and has come back too soon; she looks in such pain during some of the moves...

Threesteps, I am definitely shedding weight much quicker after I have a weekend binge too; my metabolism is working faster - hurrah for JM and her long term benefits!

knottyhair · 24/04/2012 10:03

Blimey, felt very achey this morning! I don't think I've had 2 weeks off before in 15 months of Jillian-ing, and it's almost like starting again! Did L1 Shred this morning with 2kg for most of the cardio (1.5kg for the punches) and a mix of 3kg & 2kg for the strength. I really felt it! Venetia, the squat jumps always get me as well!

greenfig · 24/04/2012 10:53

Did L1 6w6p yest & some of NMTZ in eve! Woohoo polish haloGrin of course I only use 1.5k weights & can't imagine ever managing much more for some of the exercises, I don't know how you all do it.
Am up in weight slightly this am which has really annoyed me as I am DESPERATE to see some progress. I know in theory muscle weighs more & any loss could just be water but I keep losing & gaining the same few lbs & my bf% is still around the 28% mark. I am getting impatient (today!?) Some days I'm confident, today I feel perhaps I should do some hardcore faddy diet just to get to target & then eat & exercise sensibly. It's only 4/7lbs/4 % bf I'm aiming for, how hard can it be?
Self indulgent rant over, well done to everyone else & thanks for the supportSmile

notyummy · 24/04/2012 11:12

Wow - such good work Greenfig! You may find you can manage slightly heavier for just a few moves in NMTZ - perhaps the deadlifts and hammer curls? Good to push yourself whe you can, as I find that doing with one weight throughout means that I either find some of the moves far too easy - or if using a heavier weight then there is a load I can't do! 6W6P is a slightly different case - certaibly can't imagine doing that with any more than 3kg

Another squat jump hater. And jumping lunges.

Off out for a run this evening. 5 miles hopefully. Some Jillian tomorrow - bot decided what yet. Possibly L2 Ripped and L2 Killer, just to really mix it up.....

gingercat12 · 24/04/2012 19:04

Life Those links made me PMSL.

I have done Killer L2 this weekend, and just the sheer length made me, ever so slightly, fitter.

I hope my little one will join in once we have a bigger house.

Gwithianrocks · 24/04/2012 21:00

Did 4 circuits of nmtz. Then collapsed! Can people really do all of them on a row?! Can't ever imagine being able to

Have also agreed with a friend to do the c25k and aim for race for life in July

And all this from a PE hating exercise refusenik. Amazing what the thought of being fat and 40 can do

threestepsforward · 24/04/2012 22:21

Late evening all Smile

Gwithian, 4 circuits is bloomin' good! I remember thinking 'how hard can it be, it's got no cardio' before I did NMTZ for the first time and oh boy was I in for a shock! There are 1 or 2 circuits on there that are total horrors! Well done you Smile

And well done everyone else, sorry not to name check but have read through and everyone's dedication and true grit is fab!!

After saying I would be Jillian'ing today, I ended up not Jillian'ing today! Work came in late and I spent the time waiting for it in the garden, digging up a wiggly trench for edging (lovely victorian thingies we found at a reclamation yard). Now that may sound impressive, but the garden is not very big Grin. Have totally changed the shape of the lawn - when we first moved, I 'creatively' shaped it with curved beds etc. and proudly gazed out onto it from the upstairs window and it looked like a giant penis! (sorry, soul decay). And the penis is no more...

So at least I have had some activity today, if not JM!

Will check in tomorrow Smile

OP posts:
knottyhair · 24/04/2012 22:24

Am I the only one to think that a giant cock 'n' balls in the garden sounds very appealing? Grin

threestepsforward · 24/04/2012 22:26

Knotty Grin
It did have balls and everything (inadvertently positioned beds). Was a source of great amusement to friends but time for a change, and a grown-up lawn!!

Ladies until you cease this profane and lewd talk I will have to stay away from the thread. It is probably JM and her suggestive relationship with the backing dancers that has dragged you down to this level.
