Hi everyone (FruitShoots here with a new name)

I am on day 6 of 6W6P today.
I have been a bit worried after reading a lot of things about how exercises will just tone up your muscles but the fat will still stay on top. I don't like the sound of that!

Anyway I am having 3 days off after today as DH is taking me to Paris to celebrate our 20th Wedding anniversary! Grin

I need to start doing my exercises earlier. I am quite tired by half 9 in the evening

Those of you that also use MyFitnessPal how many calories do you enter as burnt off for Jillian exercises?

Have a good week all. Hope I don't find it too hard to get back into on Friday!

Jacksterbear · 16/04/2012 20:42

Hey fruitshoots. Happy anniversary! Afaik, it is cardio that burns fat hence the need to do cardio as well as strength, hence the genius of the JM 3-2-1 system in shred and ripped!

When I do mfp, I enter all JM (apart from bfbm/6w6p) as "circuit training" (and bfbm/6w6p as "aerobics - high intensity").

Killer L1 done today after an enforced week off (staying with friends abroad with no space/time/kit to exercise, which made me quite twitchy!). Have gained a couple of lbs as a result (no exercise plus less healthy eating and more wine!) so need to get back into it with a vengeance this week! Greenfig in hols if I can't do dvds in hols I would normally try to swim or run if poss and failing that would try to cut down calories slightly to compensate - but none of that was really an option last week, so I just had to try not to stress about it and promise myself to make up for it afterwards!

rosalux · 17/04/2012 09:05

RI30 L3D2 done. Woke up this morning feeling quite achey - in a good way. Found it both harder and better today, but still having to use 2kg weights rather than 3kg and double modify some moves because of shoulder. Am seeing physio again tomorrow, so hopefully will be completely better soon. Even after just one session and a day of eating more sensibly (no wine, but some dark chocolate) I looked and felt so much better in my work out clothes (where there are no hiding places!). Am excited and hopeful I can keep this up and keep my eating habits in check too.

Happypiglet · 17/04/2012 11:51

Hi all I log all Jillian as Circuit Training on MFP
Well my intentions to restart Jillianing on Sunday went by the board and so today was my first day back. I wimped out and did L1 RI30 and enjoyed it. Feel a bit achey already and will. Ove up to L2 tomorrow as I don't think I was pushed enough!
With regard to the summer hols... Hmmm is going to be tricky for me TBH. One week camping in Devon and two weeks in a caravan in southern France are not going to be conducive to Jilliaining... Will just try to be active, biking, walking, swimming and not eat too badly... Even June half term will be difficult as camping again in Norfolk... I don't drink alcohol though so if I slightly over indulge food wise it never seems too bad for me...plus keeping warm camping in early June will burn extra calories surely!!!!

greenfig · 17/04/2012 12:42

Happy anniversary fruitshoots (we're all obv going to struggle with new name)Grin. I can def report a fat loss & muscle tone even though I'm not being super strict w diet, just more conscious iykwim. My measurements didn't change as much as I'd hoped but my shape is def 'lifted' in general. A few people have started to notice which helps doesn't it!
I did L16w6p today after all yesterdays talk! Also good to give this elbow more time from more strenous weight action.
rosalux I can't ever imagine 3k weights you must have whopping gunsGrin. I have decided this months focus is to continue lowering bf% then next months to get my arms super toned as I have a dress to wear for a party. Should focus my mind! Have a good day everyone.

knottyhair · 17/04/2012 13:35

Just wanted to check in and say keep up the good work! Haven't managed anything since last Monday - lack of time last week, then friends staying, weird foot pain that I'm seeing the doctor about tomorrow and a hacking cough since the weekend Sad. I hate not being able to do Jillian, makes me feel very twitchy! Hopefully will be sorted in a few days and back to normal Smile.

greenfig · 17/04/2012 14:48

Hope you're better soon knotty I seem to be the other way round ie am twitchy to get on (most days) when I'm daily but if I have a few days off I can imagine easily letting it all slip away down the back of the sofa. Perhaps if I keep at it long enough I too can be twitchy - fingers xed....

notyummy · 17/04/2012 15:30

Hi all! Hope some of you remember me - I have been away for 3 and half weeks to Singapore and Australia, but it looks like the hard work has continued here!

I took JM with me (well, 6W6P and BFBM anyway) and did them, also used the gym in the hotels that we stayed in that had them. In addition, did a lot of running - mostly over hills - when we were in Australia. Overall was very active in that we walked a LOT, plus did some sort of aditional exercise 6 days out of 7. Also ate a LOT more than usual (and enjoyed cocktails/wine) however....drumroll...have actually lost a little bit of weight! Was not trying to lose weight so I am really surprised, but it shows you what being active can do. The hill running also made a real difference to my speed, as I ran 10k on a treadmill in Singapore on the way home after doing lots of hills in OZ and did it in 47 minutes which is really fast for me.

DH and I did a double session of L3 Ripped and L2 Shred the day after we got back (Sunday) and it was HARD! Managed a combination of 3 and 5kg weights but was aching yesterday so just did my power yoga DVD. Was supposed to be running this morning but really awful weather put paid to that, so did Billy Blanks Bootcamp DVD instead. Felt pretty tough on the upper body and abs.

Planning L3 Killer for tomorrow and a long run on Friday. Double shred/ripped session at the weekend....and NMTZ for the first time in a month!!

greenfig · 17/04/2012 17:54

I wondered what had happened to you, I even askedWink!
Sounds like a fab trip, lucky youSmile

threestepsforward · 17/04/2012 20:26

Yay notyummy welcome back!! We missed you Smile Your trip sounds amazing! Am looking forward to hearing your review of L3 Killer... Have you done L2 yet?

Happy Anniversary Fruitshoots Smile Hope you have a fab time in Paris (I'm not Envy at all!)

Knotty sorry you're off the Shredmill at the mo, hope you get better soon. It's so frustrating when the pesky body refuses to behave!

Greenfig, you and I sound alike in what you said about taking time off. I have stupidly taken 2 days off, down to work and life getting in the way, but it always feels harder to motivate yourself again doesn't it? I've never let it slip more than around 4 days unless I'm injured or away so I will be getting back on it tomorrow!

Soooo, I will be doing 6W6P tomorrow!

Happypiglet · 18/04/2012 09:10

Welcome back not yummy I have missed your tales of extreme Jillianing!
Well after my week and a bit off I spoke too soon about yesterday's L1 not pushing me.. I ache today! And I think it was the dead lifts which usually I can't even feel working but anyway that 'bit where my booty meets my leg" is in pain!!
So I must keep going I have gone soft!!

greenfig · 18/04/2012 09:33

I'm achy this am too although I feel as though it must be from BFBM 2 days ago as it's the wrong bits for the 6w6p I did yestConfused Elbow is really quite sore & I only had a wrist weight on yest, it even hurts to lift the kettleShock Any advice? It feels like I think tennis elbow should feel, not that I've ever had it. I am going to try to continue weight free & hope it sorts itself out. Will prob do BFBM this avo.
Where's sparkly? Did she say she was going away or does she need a kick up the bum?

Happypiglet · 18/04/2012 14:32

Not sure what to advise about the elbow Greenfig but I guess keeping off it is a good idea so BFBM would be the best option.
Have done L2 RI30 this morning working through the ache! I didn't manage all the plank jacks and mountain climbers nor the squat thrusts but did do everything else.... So not all bad. Sure I will pay for it tomorrow!

moajab · 18/04/2012 14:56

Hope it's ok if I join this thread? I've been doing the shred off and on since February, by which I mean I don't want DH or DC sniggering, so I do it most week days, but not weekends or holidays. So I've just had two weeks off! But went back to L3 of 30day Shred and can still do it! Before the holidays I didn't notice much difference in my appearance, but am definitly much fitter (couldn't even manage 30 seconds of jumping jacks before!) I've just ordered 6w6p as it's my tum that I most want sorted. I'm quite slim above that, but definitly have a mummy tummy! And thighs are a bit too chunky as well!
Anyway, I have a beach holiday coming up in June so I've got something to aim for....

nicnacinoonoo · 18/04/2012 15:44

I've been doing level 1 6w6p mon, tues and wed. Think I'm going to go right through it again. Not managed any other jillianing this week, but have been going for walks and went swimming today. Been really good with my food so far this week too so I'm feeling good and staying positive. Hoping to fit in nmtz tonight if I have time.

threestepsforward · 18/04/2012 15:49

Welcome moajab Smile Great news you're feeling the benefits, I bet it won't be long til you can see results too, if not already!

Good stuff Happypiglet, you'll be feeling the pain in a good way... That mountain climber / plank jack blast is a killer isn't it?

Oh dear Greenfig, I agree with happypiglet that you should maybe steer clear of anything that aggravates your elbow if you can? BFBM a good option. Do you have Killer? Pretty much all the levels don't require your arms to do much, as far as I can remember (you can use weights in one or two bits but it's optional). Might be worth doing until it's better...and a trip to the docs maybe if it's really sore?

Hope everyone else is doing well. I am psyching my lazy self to do 6W6P...not easy after a 2 day break! I shall report back later to say that I've done it Grin

ExcitedElectrons · 18/04/2012 16:09

Hi all, I am still here! Had the odd day free from Jillian but that's usually due to going to a keep fit class or just having a break! Off to do L1 in a minute. I tried L2 the other day with weights and it was so difficult, I must be on D7 so I don't even think I have progressed... :( Oh well, will keep going till D10 then see what happens.

Well done everyone!

nicnacinoonoo · 18/04/2012 18:08

What is killer like? I haven't got that one.

greenfig · 18/04/2012 18:51

Killer & ripped scare me nicna I think they're for the big girlsGrin I don't mean 'larger lady' by that I mean hardcore!!!!
electrons you are progressing & it is hard but you can do itSmile
Just done L16w6p 3steps w 1 hand weight on good arm! Felt it more in my muscles today, see they're there!
Welcome moajab I can sympathise w the mocking family. Mine are all out (bliss) I'm off for a soak in the bath.

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 18/04/2012 18:58

Hello everyone - haven't been on here for a while - my back was playing up for a bit, and then ky old kidney complaint has reared its head, so I have not exercised much. I miss Jillian Sad. I am watching the Biggest Loser (USA) and laugjing at her shouting at others for a change.

Hope you are all well - I will come back to the thread when better. Smile

notyummy · 18/04/2012 19:25

I dont think Killer is that bad tbh. There are some exercises in there that are really tough, but they are spaced out with ones that are alright. Cardio isnt too bad either. Levels 3 and 4 of Ripped are harder than any of the levels in Killer IMHO.

Happypiglet · 18/04/2012 19:33

I agree with not yummy Ripped L1 is actually IMHO easier than L2 Shred. L2 does step up bait- the first cardio circuit is tough but it's certainly do able. I have only done L1 of Killer and not for a while but seem to remember that CV wise it is actually quite easy but obviously from a thigh point of view it is quite tough I like both Ripped and Killer tho and would certainly recommend them.
I need to get back into my BFBM and NMTZ once each a week routine again as I find both of them a really tough work out. BUt I am allowing myself a week of just the shorter Ripped stuff to ease back in after my week off!
moajab I have tried doing the DVDs with DC in next room but them copying me through the glass doors is somewhat off putting. And my six year old got very concerned with my 'grunting' noises and thought I was in pain!!

threestepsforward · 18/04/2012 20:23

Aw Keeporf Sad (are you getorf in a new incarnation?) Hope you're on the mend soon.

Nicna Killer is really good I think. It mainly targets 'buns 'n' thighs' but there's a mix of cardio in it too. L1 is very do-able and it steps up a bit for L2 and L3.

Greenfig well done you! I did it too and have twanged my lower back! Have taken some ibuprofen and hopefully haven't done anything too awful...

Hello excited Smile, I bet you have progressed you know. Are you doing Ripped or Shred? There are some of her workouts (Ripped!) that I never feel like I improve in, but I kind of like that as it makes me feel I'm still getting a good workout.

For me, Killer L2 and L3 are on a par with Ripped L3 and L4 in terms of difficulty, but I do think I'm a lightweight!

Have a good evening all - in Apprentice tonight they have to devise a new fitness/workout concept, should be interesting Grin

ExcitedElectrons · 18/04/2012 21:58

threesteps I feel as if I have lost inches, my hips aren't as huge anymore! But when I am actually doing the DVD I feel knackered :o oh well will keep at it! :o I am doing the Shred, I am too scared for the others!

gypsyfloss · 18/04/2012 23:51

Need some advice please... I've done the whole 30 day Shred through twice with heavier weights the second time round. I really struggled with some of L3 ,loved L2 but got a bit bored so bought & tried Ripped.

That caused big shoulder problems so I had to stop for a few weeks and am now doing 6wk6pk L1 on alternate days with no problems.

Should I stick to that or would you suggest perhaps alternating it with the Shred? Or getting over my Ripped phobia?

My knees and pelvic floor are grateful for the lack of jumping in 6w6p Grin
