I started the 30DS again on Saturday and realised where I went wrong before - i didn't use weights and only used two tins of baked beans Blush.
This time I've found some old weights that are 1.1kg and my god, I can feel the burn! Which I actually liked! I woke up this morning with well needed aches and pains which encourages me to get off my bum! So yes, starting all over again at L1 D2. Will upgrade to L2 in 8 days time and I think I will only have one day off, or maybe not even that.

Also are 1.1kg weights ok or too much? I find them really heavy but then again I have never really considered my arms when I did the shred/other exercise before and now I realise just how much they need toning up!

rosalux · 09/04/2012 09:40

Very impressed with those continuing to JM over Easter. I still have a sore shoulder so I am pausing RI 30 for a week or two and concentrating on my eating. Hope to see a physio this week to make sure I've not done anything seriously bad.

CHST · 09/04/2012 10:32

thanks knotty!
excited I started with 1kg weights on shred as I was also getting back into exercise. I think that is perfectly fine. At some point you will probably start to feel less challenged and then that is the sign to go heavier :)

knottyhair · 09/04/2012 11:30

rosalux, hope the physio helps with your shoulder. Excited, I agree with CHST, you will feel when you need to increase your weights, and it also depends on the move. I started with 1.5kg Feb 2011, and was ready to move up within a couple of months I think, now using 3kg, with 2kg for some moves, and I could do with 5kg for the odd thing, like dead lifts. Some people on here use heavier weights than this (which reminds me, notyummy, where are you??), so just do what feels right for you at the time.
Did L4 Ripped this morning. I am useless at those chattanooga push-ups or whatever they're called Grin. Off to the cinema with DP & DS later and am going to treat myself to a scoop of Ben & Jerry's. I know how to live.

FruitShootsChocolateEggcitedly · 09/04/2012 13:23

excited i started with 2kg weights, as DS had some at that weight that I borrowed! I did find some exercises were really hard with those at first and haven't gone any heavier yet.

Today is day 10 of level 3 30DS, so in theory it my last day and I should be a toned goddess by now! Grin

My sister came over yesterday and offered me her size 14 jacket as it "hangs off her now and looks ridiculous" errrr thanks for that boost to my confidence sis Hmm

I weighed myself this morning and I was 9 st 1 and 3/4 which is the best weight I've been since I bought my scales! was very pleased so celebrated by eating chocolate Grin

Am having my first day off tomorrow after about 25 days in a row!
Have ordered 6W6p, am slightly dreading it though!

Hope everyone has a great Bank Holiday!

CHST · 09/04/2012 13:30

fruitshoots congratulations on the weightloss!!

threestepsforward · 09/04/2012 13:52

Hello all!

Fruitshoots great stuff with the Shred and weight loss, well done you! Is 6W6P next then?

CHST doh, I should have thought about the sofa! Never mind I am home now so can break all my own chairs at will Grin

Excited I reckon 1 kg is a perfect starting point with weights, stick with them until you feel you want more of a challenge. You won't bulk up if you go up in weights though as women apparently and thankfully don't have the hormone that does that, and we'd need to be lifting massive weights to do the bulking thing!

Enjoy the cinema Knotty, and Rosalux hope the shoulder mends soon.

Luxuriating in being back home, despite the p'ing rain, and will be doing L2 Killer this afternoon. I remember it being the hardest of the 3 levels so not without a little trepidation!

Hope everyone is having a fab long weekend Smile

Hi all,

Exited I echo the cry that 1kg is good to start. I always lift the heaviest weight I can while maintaining good form until the last few repetitions. I have selection of weights but 1kg will serve you well for a while.

Fruitshoots congratulations [bugrin]

I did the first three circuits of NMTZ this morning before going out for a gentle but very slow run, or jog I should say. It was hard work but it's done. More Jillian tomorrow though I think.

ExcitedElectrons · 09/04/2012 18:26

Thank you everyone for your help! Bit miffed today as I haven't had the time to do it and just about to eat dinner! Ugh! Will do it first thing tomorrow morning, I was so dedicated to do it today :(.

threestepsforward · 10/04/2012 09:17

Aw Excited that's a pain, when you're all fired up to go and things get in the way. Did you manage to do it this morning?

I did L2 Killer yesterday and that's a great workout, hard, but great! My legs definitely feel it today... It's a toughie on the legs I think as there's so much on one leg!

A question for anyone who has done all of JM's stuff, would you say Killer and Ripped are overall a step up from her other stuff? (leaving aside L2 6W6P!)

Sun has re-emerged - hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy it today after the washout that was yesterday Smile

OP posts:
jellibelli · 10/04/2012 11:11

exited that's a nuisance! I have the same problem when everyone is home, if I don't get it done first thing then often the opportunity never arises again. Grrrrr!

I did the last four circuits of NMTZ this morning as I am feeling a bit weak and feeble, so I phoned it in a bit with that choice but at least I have clean conscience for the rest of the day now, as it's better than nothing and I couldn't face a run.

Killer and Ripped a step up? I have only done L1 of Kiler, and I know L2 is to be respected, but I always use the heaviest weights I can so all of her workouts are hard and I am 'keen' to get to the end of each circuit. I tend to find the leg and ab stuff ok and the shoulder arm work I am relatively feeble with. So my answer, " not necessarily". Sorry not much help I know. And 6W6Pis my favourite.....

ExcitedElectrons · 10/04/2012 11:17

I did it first thing this morning and I can really feel it :( I remember saying before that level 1 "didn't challenge me enough" - WTF was I thinking? I must have been high or something :o.
Same here jellibelli I felt so weak this morning, I really hope I improve! In all honesty I don't need to lose that much weight - a good few pounds lost and toning up will do me fine :o

I love this thread :)

greenfig · 10/04/2012 16:41

Hello everyone & WELL DONE fruitshootsGrin Have managed most days over the hols so far, mainly NMTZ. It seems to be favourite out of the new ones I bought so I thought I'd give it a month. Have had lots of goodies (no change there-it IS the hols!) so will re focus re targets post hols.
Ripped & killer scare me from what you all tell me-I think it may be some time before I'm up for that!

nicnacinoonoo · 11/04/2012 07:50

Hi, can I join you?
I started the 30day shred in October then went on and did 6w6p whilst going through the shred again but not everyday. I did really well and got quite toned, but I gave myself a break over Christmas and then I haven't managed to get myself back on track again since then :( I got ripped in 30 for Christmas but every time I start it I've fallen off the wagon by week 2/3 with my food and so given up on the exercise as well. I've put a stone back on and feel miserable about it. I'm determined that this is it now, I will get back on track as I nearly cried looking at the scale this morning, I just need to stop dwelling on how much damage I've done and start afresh. And keep the kids blooming Easter eggs away from myself!! Grin
Sorry for the long self obsessed post Blush just hoping that if I have a thread or something to keep me occupied I might be able to stop myself from binge eating like I have been doing. Not read the full thread yet so I'm going to go back and do that now.

threestepsforward · 11/04/2012 14:07

Hello all

Welcome to the thread Nicna Smile. You've done amazing to do the Shred followed by 6W6P. And starting Killer too!

I've had some horrid food ishoos raising their heads recently, and the only positive from it is that I've just about managed to keep doing some form of exercise (Jillian stuff mainly). Even if you're diet goes awry, try and keep up the exercise as it will help damage limitation and also make you feel so much better! And the feel-good factor will motivate you to sort the diet too, it does for me usually as long as I'm not surrounded by chocolate

Stick with us here and we'll keep you motivated Smile

6W6P seemed to worm itself into my brain and I did L1 yesterday and enjoyed it Shock. Not planning on doing L2 any time soon though Grin Another Killer later...

Hope everyone else is doing okay...bit of a curate's egg type day here today weather wise, good in parts!

Ifancyanewname · 11/04/2012 20:43

Hi all, I have been shredding and am doing ok on level one but my disc is scratched and wont play level 2! So, I am going to get another but what other Jillian Michaels dvds are good to have a crack at? I'd quite like something more abs related and bottom toning too!

Ifancyanewname · 11/04/2012 20:46

Oh its ok, I've just seen 4 different dvds for £15 on play so I shall be ordering that!

threestepsforward · 12/04/2012 13:57

Nice one Ifancyanewname, that's a good deal! Let us know how you get on Smile

All quiet here, is everyone okay?

Ran out of time yesterday to do a longer DVD so did L4 Ripped instead, which was quite enough by gone 7 in the evening Grin

Hoping to do Killer L2 this afternoon and then L1 6W6P again tomorrow - doing that the day before yesterday has given me very interesting aches I've not had for a long while!

Hope everyone is well Smile

CHST · 12/04/2012 14:19

hi everyone! I went crazt today and did a turbofire hiit workout, (plyometrics, so lots and lots and lots of explosive jumps and squats) then decided to do Ripped Level 4 after. 1st circuit I thought to myself okay not too bad, 2nd circuit come the cardio I thought to myself "what the hell was I thinking?" My brain and legs struggled to co-operate. I found since doing turbofire, I find the cardio in the circuits a lot easier, but my limbs were like jelly from my first workout. Oh boy I was glad when it was over!

nicnacinoonoo · 12/04/2012 14:22

Thanks threesteps you're right I just need to carry on with the exercise no matter what and I'll feel so much better. I did level 1 of ripped yesterday, hopefully I will get all the way through to level 4 this time. Going to try and squeeze in that and level 1 6w6p today but no doubt I'll only manage one. I have ordered a few off amazon that I am waiting to arrive: No more trouble zones, kickbox fastfix and Shred it with weights. I've also bought a kettlebell off ebay to use with the Shred it with weights. Hopefully when it all arrives it will motivate me more. Also once the kids are back at School I do a lot more walking and some swimming.

I think I've seen that pack of 4, it's a good deal but I already had a couple of them. Is it 30day shred, BFBM, 6w6p and ripped in 30?

LadyRabbit · 12/04/2012 14:38

I felt I had to post on this thread after getting the 30 day shred video.

Jillian Michaels is my new heroine.

I thought I was v v v fit (long distance running, marathons, bla bla bla) and was all blasé thinking I'd start straight on level 3. Erm. I nearly collapsed 10 minutes into the Level 1 workout.

It's AMAZING. I have never ached so much the following day which means IT WORKS.

That is all, I just wanted to go on about how brill it is. Totally kicked my arse and got me out of a fitness plateau.

And there are more than the one DVD I have? Ooh. I'm off to go shopping....

threestepsforward · 12/04/2012 16:07

Ooo ladyrabbit there is a veritable sweet shop of other Jillian DVDs awaiting you!! That's really interesting to hear how the Shred was from the perspective of someone starting out fit, with marathons etc. under her belt... I guess the big difference is the explosions of intensity with her stuff? You have hours of fun to look forward to... Grin

Good luck today Nicna...don't overload yourself in terms of goals each day (i.e. double-sessions) as if you can't stick to it/ find the time it may undermine you. Double-sessions of any of JM stuff are pretty damn hard!!

Speaking of which, CHST, wow!!! Are you still upright lol? Do you have a link to that turbofire stuff? It sounds really frightening interesting Grin I'd love to read some more about it...

I feel SO much better now I'm back home. Off to do Killer in a mo Smile

Threesteps x

CHST · 12/04/2012 17:02

It's a mix of these type of classes 30, 45, 55 and 60 mins

which are cardio with a couple of fire drills which you go hard for a minute or so. It really gives me more energy strangely enough

then there are hiit work outs of 15, 20, 25 and 30 mins which are 3 or 4 different sequences that you do 2 or 3 times and give 100% effort then same amount rest

I did this one before my Jillian and that last seqence is mean with all those jumps. There are also some toning/sculpting sessions and stretch (yoga)
It is so much fun! Chalene is basically a kind Jillian!!

greenfig · 12/04/2012 17:02

Hi to the newbies & wow to CHST!! Am still here but not much to report in the hols. Another day off yest as friends to stay. Will be back with gusto next week, am looking forward to getting back in the zone & determined not to let it slide!

LingDiLong · 12/04/2012 19:17

Ladyrabbit that is interesting! I did the Shred level 2 with my very fit 12 year old niece (plays cricket at county level) and she seemed to find it just as hard as I did!

I've just done my first 6Week 6Pack, level 1. It was a really good work out, loved the way it was so fast paced and not at all repetitive.
