Happy Jillian'ing all !!

RI30 L2D3 done. I moved up to non-modifier version of plank jacks today (whilst still doing beginner mountain climbers) and whilst it certainly didn't kill me (thanks Jillian), I did collapse before the end and phone in a few. I'm hoping to add a non modifier version a day until I'm doing all shelly(?). Am now completely exhausted, not helped by another night of DS' hacking cough which kept waking him (and us) up. Onwards and upwards

VenetiaLanyon · 28/03/2012 09:56

Morning all Smile Well done on non-modified plank jacks thing, Rosalux; 'tis a real toughy, that circuit.

L3RI30 today; I find the bear crawl and duck walk very tough on my dodgy knees; right knee felt pretty sore today, which meant that I was a bit half-hearted with the other moves - better luck tomorrow...

knottyhair · 28/03/2012 10:08

Morning! Sparkly and fruitshoots, I've done all the available Jillian DVDs and I think those chair v-raise things in L2 Shred are still my least favourite move (possibly jumping lunges are a close 2nd!). rosalux, well done on the improvement and hope your DS feels better soon and you can all get more sleep. Venetia, take care of that knee, hope it improves soon.

L3 Killer again this morning - love it but that first circuit is tough! Still find the pesky jumping lunges hard but most of it is good fun! Rest day tomorrow. Have a good one everybody x

greenfig · 28/03/2012 12:41

sparkly glad I'm not the only one to bejust my mocked by my family! Feeling a bit pants about the lack of weight loss hereSad This am only 1lb down from where I started. Did cave & have a glass of wine last night. Next weds will officially be 30 days (I think) so will check measurements & body fat% & if not much change I think I will try to return to a serious Dukan to shift the last 1/2 stone. Right am off to attempt L2 6w6p for 1st time.
knotty is killer your fav?

greenfig · 28/03/2012 22:05

Managed 1st 1/2 of L2 6w6p but gave up on 2nd as too fast to keep balanced for me. Felt even more fed up so did a few circuits of BFBM, which I got on much better with. Have just snaffled 1/2 a pack of cadburys chocolate eclairsBlush Tomorrow's another day, hope all of you have had a better one!

rosalux · 29/03/2012 09:33

RI30 L2D4 completed. Had a much better night with DS last night. It didn't start well as he kept coughing from bedtime (7pm) to 9pm and I had to stay with him for a while to help him settle. But he then slept til the dream feed at 10.45 and again after that from 11 - 5amish, which at least allowed me a half decent stretch of uninterrupted sleep. So it was with renewed enthusiasm that I tackled D4 and even managed to add a non-modified version of the circuit 2 cardio jump things, but these do not agree with my knees so I think I will substitute good old jumping jacks instead. Just one more day until the weekend (and 2 days of rest, from Jillian at least). Enjoy the sunshine everyone.

Happypiglet · 29/03/2012 10:39

Hi all. NMTZ today and did BFBM on Tuesday. Rest day yesterday as helping at school.
I am impressed Rosalux that you are doing so well with exercise and obviously have a young baby... It's taken me until all mine are at school before seriously attempting to get fit again!
Don't beat yourself Greenfig today is another day... Hope it goes well for you.
Well cleaning beckons (yuck) so must stop procrastinating!!!

greenfig · 29/03/2012 13:50

Yes rosalux well done you, put's my whinig to shameGrin
Thanks for your kind words happypiglet Dds bday today & work & parents coming so no time to shred today. Feeling slightly less pathetic though.
sparkly & fruitshoots how are you doing? Noticing any difference yet?
3steps thinking of youSmile

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 29/03/2012 15:39

Thanks yet again for the encouragement

I am on day 4958745987 of level 2 30DS, I am thoroughly fed up of the plank jacks, jumps, spreads or whatever they are. It's hurting my knees as I am not getting a good grip on the carpet. I have exercised in bare feet and trainers but don't like trainers they make me feel heavy!
"keep your abs tight!" really...I'm concentrating on staying alive and breathing I can't clench my abs as well!

I think i need to buy a mat for better grip, but I am just too knackered still to do the last round of plank thingies, I'm not sure better grip will help!

Haven't weighed myself for a few days, don't want to be depressed.
I know I haven't lost much weight although for some strange reason my bra kept falling off so maybe I have it was very old and I expect dh tumble dried it Grin

Going to start level 3 at the weekend, I bloody hope those chair squat v raises aren't in it anymore, how does Natalie do them with a smile on her face?

Hope everyone has a good day of exercising today.

Nolda · 29/03/2012 17:37

FruitshootsandHeaves - it really annoys me when she says during the plank twists "if Natalie can do it, anyone can do it"! Hmm No, she's miles fitter than I am ...

jocesar · 29/03/2012 18:37

Hello, I'm new to JM but have been given her DVDs. Which is the easiest one to start on- they all sound a bit hardcore?
On an unrelated topic- I also was given Tracy Anderson's mat workout- was quite suprised at the content (after I'd finished lol about her pouting and flouncing). Do her methods work?
Thanks

dietcokehead · 29/03/2012 19:27

Nolda me too! I was shouting at her for that one last night! I went back to L2 after along walk yesterday I was too knackered to contemp, ate rock stars...

dietcokehead · 29/03/2012 19:28

jocesar I started with thirty day shred which was fine but I was moderately fit (on week five of couch to 5km and big on walking).

Sparklyboots · 29/03/2012 22:21

I have been for a run and done 2/3rds of a shred; DS woke up and needed quite a lot of re-settling (teeth). 2200 is my cutoff; I think this is reasonable. Still on target for 5 shreds a week even if I don't count tonight. I was being reasonable, right???

Not feeling masses of change though my arms look great for about half an hour after each session. The whole thing is really spurring me on to be sane about food - I have a super toned body under here just waiting to show, I'm sure! So I want to see the results of all the work. AF is here am and I always experience a boost in the first week afterwards, so I'm sure I'll be in my superhero suit soon.

bobkate · 29/03/2012 23:43

I've failed for the last 3 days Sad.. not done anything, just been too full on with the kids, plus a dog that's had the squits, joy of all joys. Aiming to start again tomorrow. Ripped arrived in the post today, not sure I'll be able to leave it in the box until I've cracked 30DS L3! Might have to have a go tomorrow, just as a taster!
greenfig I too have the split tummy muscle thing I think, and the wobble too. Not sure if it ever mends or not? I too wonder if when you see people with a 6 pack, or even just a flat tummy, are they just constantly clenching their muscles, or 'engaging' their muscles or do you just get to a stage of super hardcore fitness where they are like that even when you're unclenched and relaxed? I can get my tummy to look flatter but only when I'm really clenching the muscles in, and when I'm clenching my muscles in I can't really breath properly so that's not much use!

rosalux · 30/03/2012 09:20

RI30 L2D5 done. Thanks for all the encouragement ladies. DS is 7mths and I've been doing Jillian since mid jan. I almost didn't manage today after DS woke T 12.30am and wouldn't resettle so I ended up having him in bed with me from 3.30am and he eventually fell asleep Rund 4am I think. Needless today I was not so lucky.nhopi g I can grab an hour during his lunchtime nap later.

I managed the advance versions on almost everything, not the mountain climbers though - that joy awaits - or the plank squats which are beyond me and my knees/arms.

VenetiaLanyon · 30/03/2012 09:25

Hi Jocesar, I'd start with the Shred; I started that after having previously done no exercise at all - enjoy Grin

Bobkate, don't beat yourself up - it's only 3 days, and you'll soon be back in the saddle with Ripped - have "fun"...

L1 30DS today; I modify this quite significantly now to make it more difficult, and find it can be still really stretching.

Enjoy the rest of the lovely weather; think it's supposed to be gone tomorrow...Sad Good weekends all Smile

Sparklyboots · 30/03/2012 11:33

Bobkate and greenfig - someone has just recommended to me some spit-tummy-muscles strategies. She's like an iron goddess; she had her baby less than a year ago and looks amazing. She's a pilates teacher - so she recommends going to a pilates class or two just to get used to the way that they engage their core in them; you basically suck in your tummy madly then tighten, try to keep pushing your belly button and back flat to the floor doing abs exercises. She says never, ever do proper sit-ups. She also suggested buying a bag of balloons and blowing one up 20 times a night (new balloon each night). I've just bought a bag of balloons so am going to try it!

greenfig · 30/03/2012 17:07

fruitshoots somebody upthread said L2 is a love it/hate it, maybe you'll get on with L3 better?
sparkly thanks for the advice, sadly methinks I've left it too late-my youngest is 9!!! Did do balloon blowing yest on account of b'day thoughGrin
rosa you won't be in my sorry state, & the rest of you with littlies, I take my hat off to you working hard & being so disciplined!
sparkly I know what you mean re muscle tone straight after exercise. I get over excited to see some definition only for my limbs to return to sausage state by the time I'm out of the showerHmm On a cheerful note I tried on some of my 'thin' clothes & things are def moving-hurrah!! Soon be time to go shopping.

bobkate · 30/03/2012 20:09

Thanks sparkly I've always wanted to try pilates, but a bit embarrassed about how inflexible I am...I've got a pilates dvd but my god, it's hardcore. After lots of googling last night, it seems that the tuplar technique is something to try, so I'm going to do some more research into that. Most things I read said to avoid crunches of any type as they just make the split worse.
Tried Rin30 today - quite liked it....but couldn't do it really properly as my 2yr old DD was not in the mood for exercising and was more interested in handing me anything and everything.
I really hate blowing up balloons! I feel a bit phobic about it...think it's the exploding in your face thing...yuk...however I should man up and give it a goSmile

gingercat12 · 31/03/2012 15:21

"Crazy psycho" is an adequate description of L4 RI30, thank you, Gillian. When she said "Are you crying yet?" I could not even say no, I was too tired.

I will never learn proper push-ups. Whenever we get there in the work-out, my hands are too sweaty, and I keep sliding around.

Happypiglet · 31/03/2012 16:02

Hi all... I agree that L2 of 30DS is worse than L3 ....
bobkate I too am very inflexible and always have been. But I did try a pilots class between DC2 and DC3 and found that it did help my stomach. They really stressed finding your core muscles rather than general abs ones and I really think this helped me especially as my teacher said that you should try to hold those core ones (including pelvic floor) in at 30 % all the time which I did try to do do. Then I had DC3 which pretty much scuppered them again!
Did L2 RI30 yesterday and today. I still like it except for the first cardio circuit. Really I should move on but I am not sure I feel brave enough yet.
Down to 8 stone 11 today and really noticing the difference in leg and.bum tone. My arms are not looking much better though and I really need to push it in that area.... But it is so hard!!!! I have wuzzy arms!

Happypiglet · 31/03/2012 16:03

Pilates class.... Beeping auto correct!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 31/03/2012 20:26

Hello everyone - I haven't Jillianed for a few days as I have been away from work, and feel very guilty that I haven't done anything. I am going to do a couple of circuits tomorrow to make up for it.

I agree that L3 of 30DS is far easier than L2 for some reason.

I found 6W6P very hard at first - it certainly goes faster (imo) than her other videos, but it is very worth it as long as you persevere.

knottyhair · 01/04/2012 07:03

Morning all. GetOrf, I also haven't done any Jillianing since Wednesday - my scheduled rest day was Thursday then became very familiar with my toilet so to speak from Thursday afternoon, south end not north end if that's not TMI Blush. Not sure why but felt very peaky for a couple of days as a result. Not sure whether to attempt something today or leave it until tomorrow. Will see how I feel in a couple of hours I think. Keep up the fantastic work everyone!
