Happy Jillian'ing all !!

rosalux, you'll be fine! TBH I find L3 harder to get through than L4, think I just prefer the moves in L4. The first time I did them, I was a bit "WTF!!" at some of the moves, but most of them are OK, and you can always do the modified versions at first.

Happypiglet · 26/03/2012 20:44

Hi all, accidental rest day for me today as ended up at school all day in a governor thingy which I thought would be just the morning. Luckily worked out on both weekend days so not too critical.
So today I am struggling to stay within my 1500 net calorie limit... Especially all school could offer was a White cheese baguette at lunch!
I love Killer L1 which i did yesterday but my thighs do not like the one legged chair squats!
Rosalux I like L2 of Ripped but the first time I did it I felt like imhadn't worked out at all as a lot of the moves need some considerable watching before I got them! I too struggle with some of the abs stuff so I too modify although I can do the ones in the first circuit. I cannot 'climb up my leg' for toffee!! I too have had a sneaky peak and fainted at L3 ...will avoid for a bit more I think!

RedBlanket · 26/03/2012 20:51

D1 of level 3 of shred, another toughie. I thought I'd done with the plank on level 2. Still can't do push ups!

threestepsforward · 26/03/2012 21:25

Hey all,

Jacksterbear!! How are you? You'll love L3 Ripped I promise!!
You are sweet to ask after me Smile To be honest I'm having a properly terrible time at the mo, which was why I wasn't posting as much as I felt like my negatively was pervading(is that a word? sounds right?!) the thread! After 10 YEARS of a healthy attitude to food (ie. no dieting, eating sensibly), I am experiencing huge and unhealthy throwbacks to my long time ago eating disorder, and I am truly gutted. I honestly thought I was through it, had counselling to bloomin' well get through it, and it's been a serious kick in the stomach to discover it's not the case. So I'm just trying to get through it and remember how I got through it. I feel like the rug has been pulled out from under me and it's scary. (And I fairly recently posted on someone else's thread about how I managed to sort myself out - oh the irony!!)

It's a real struggle to motivate myself to exercise at the mo, but I'm keeping on as it always makes me feel loads better Smile So I did BFBM today Smile

Knotty Killer is on my menu for tomorrow, it's definitely at the top of my JM picks too...

Hello to everyone else, you are all doing fab!

[and apologies, this is not exactly an 'aspirational' post of the kind JM would approve Blush]

Happypiglet · 26/03/2012 21:33

three steps I have no useful insights for you but just wanted to say sorry you are having a miserable time. Sad
And please do post if you want to if it helps at all. UnMN >>

greenfig · 26/03/2012 21:37

3 steps I'm so sorry to hear thatSad I hope you're feeling better soon. You have helped me lots with your inspiring posts & advice. I'm sure Jm would be super impressed that you exercised despite feeling so low. Good luck x

Sparklyboots · 26/03/2012 21:46

Sorry to hear that 3steps. How can we help?

I am shredded, I actually had sweat sort of shimmying off me onto the furniture. It was disgusting.

Rosalux how is PMK going for you?

bobkate · 26/03/2012 22:07

3steps not sure what to put but hoping it's just a blip for you and you'll be taking those 3 steps forward v soon.
Feeling quite chuffed.... did level 2 shred and I managed to do proper plank squat jump things and proper plank jacks today!!! More than likely my technique was off but really happy. Maybe those 2 days off were needed in a strange way. And my ripped is on it's way. Should I try to master get through level 3 shred for a week or so before trying ripped do you think, or should I just get cracking with it as soon as it pops through the letterbox?

jellibelli · 26/03/2012 22:24

Ooh! I did Killer L1 for the first time today. It was ok but, sorry for stating the obvious, heavy on the ol' legs! I know, "well, duh". My legs were not keen on the one leg square either but I did manage to stick with them. Nadalee looks very different without her bushy hair from 30DS, I wouldn't have recognised her if Jillian hadn't reintroduced us! My legs are not too bad so I may just move on to L2 and then L3 and use it in rotation with the other DVDs. At the moment my favourite is still 6W6P though.

3 Steps keep posting if it helps. Sorry to hear you are struggling.

Bobkate I would finish Shred properly then crack on with ripped afterwards. You are not in a rush to complete them are you?

threestepsforward · 26/03/2012 22:35

Aw, thanks all, really Blush. I didn't want to create a hoo ha, but I also did want to say something as I normally post bloomin loads a fair bit.

I will be lurking for a bit and geeing you all on from the sidelines Grin I'm glad I said something though as I would have felt rude just to have dropped out.

When I return, it will be a shiny new me who has taken the bugger to task! I've done it before and I will do it again.

OP posts:
threestepsforward · 26/03/2012 22:37

Oo bobkate, like Jelli I would do L3 Shred first, just for the fact of getting that brilliant sense of achievement from finishing Smile. Ripped will be there waiting for you ... (Also really recommend Killer if you're on the look out for new DVDs).

Hmm, I can see I'm going to be a fantastic lurker, not!

OP posts:
bobkate · 26/03/2012 23:04

bum - I thought you might say that!!! I have done level 3 a bit, but went back to 2 and 1 when I felt I wasn't doing it well enough to see results. I'll step it up tomorrow and do it for a while then. Get me with my step it up lingo!
Nope jelli I'm not really in a rush, but getting a bit in the zone I suppose Smile. Thanks 3steps too. I can honestly say I've been a very sporadic poster on MN, dipping my toes in everynow and then, then rushing away quickly again...never in a million years did I think I'd be starting to regularly post on a fitness DVD thread Grin.

Jacksterbear · 27/03/2012 07:14

Oh 3steps sorry you're having such a rough time, please don't disappear though, we are here for you! xx (I am ok thanks, but insanely tired, and not fitting in as much exercise as I'd like, due to work, DH working away lots, and DCs not settling in the evenings and waking up through the night grrr.)

knottyhair · 27/03/2012 07:51

3steps, sorry to hear you're feeling so rubbish at the moment Sad. Good on you for keeping up the exercise even though you don't feel like it. Hope things improve for you soon, and to echo other posters, keep posting if you find it helps. Jackster, sorry to hear that things are difficult for you at the moment as well. It can be hard enough to keep motivated and find time for exercise when life is going smoothly, so I've much admiration for those of you keeping going when things get tough.
I'm going to give the 20 min cardio kickboxing workout from 2005 a go this morning, as I haven't got as much time as I thought. The plan is then for Killer L2 again tomorrow, rest day Thursday, and 6W6P L2 on Friday. Hope everyone's got the lovely sunshine!

VenetiaLanyon · 27/03/2012 09:25

Sorry to hear about your problems, Three steps; let us know if there's anything useful we can say to help.

L2 Ripped today, and I managed to stay in plank for entire plank circuit for first time - hurrah! I failed at my first day of no wine and cake yesterday, as was out to dinner, but today is the first day of the rest of my life etc etc, and the scales told me that I'm not heavier be a few pounds than when I had my wedding dress fitting a couple of weeks ago Confused... Cakes and ale definitely, definitely banned from now on...

greenfig · 27/03/2012 09:52

Lucky you venetia & well done on the dreaded planks. I was a v good girl yest but was back up to starting weight this amShock so not fair! Have done 1/2 of NMTZ off to work now.
I hope today's a good one 3 stepsSmile

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 27/03/2012 11:24

Feeling a bit despondent this morning. My tummy flab looks just the same. I should be starting level 3 of the 30DS today but I think I am going to stick with level 2 for a few more days until I master the plank thingies.
Managed double jump rope last night and almost all the plank moves but I can't keep up with the speed they do the chair squats and v raise. I hate those so much Grin

How long did it take people to really notice a difference in their shape?
Although my family tell me I'm less flabby, I honestly think they are just being nice. I look just the same in a mirror!

I think I shall end up with really strong muscly legs still with a flabby tummy

I hope you feel better soon 3steps

dietcokehead · 27/03/2012 12:26

Hi everyone, may I join you?

I've been lurking for a while and taking inspiration from you all whilst getting into 30DS. I'm not doing it every day as also beginning to run, and have the odd enforced day off due to work or DS (13mths) playing up on an evening she senses her Dad is out!

We're away on holiday this week so moved up to L3. I find the moves quite tricky so am not sure I'm getting as good a workout as I do on L2 when the moves are easier but I'm doing them right!

A couple of Qs please. Has anybody read Jillian's metabolism book? Which DVD should I try next (I like the short sessions in 30DS, as they fit in well with my evenings- I work full time and can muster the energy when I know it's only for 25mins all in)?

gingercat12 · 27/03/2012 12:46

Welcome dietcokehead! I have not read her book, but plan to check her out on youtube. sparklyboots those quotes are great!

3steps Thinking of you.

It is my last night of L3 RI30 tonight. I think it has grown on me.

knottyhair · 27/03/2012 12:55

Venetia, well done on staying in plank and good luck with the cake/booze abstinence. greenfig, admiration to you for working out before work. Fruitshoots, stick at it. I bet your family really are noticing a difference, I think we scrutinise ourselves so much it's really hard to see it in ourselves IYKWIM. Welcome dietcokehead! I haven't got her "self-help" type book but I did get the cook book which is really good, everything I've made so far from it has been lovely. In terms of which DVD to do next, if you like the short ones, I'd go for Ripped in 30, as it's very similar in set-up to the Shred, maybe about 5 mins longer? BFBM & NMTZ are both longer but I usually do just 4 circuits of these if I'm short of time, which works out about 25-30 mins. And I think 6W6P is about 30-35? HTH. Gingercat, well done on completing L3 Ripped - I think you'll like L4 Smile.

rosalux · 27/03/2012 14:02

RI30 L2D2 completed. Thanks to those who said it would get easier and also harder with repetition - it did! DP was away overnight so unable to do DS duties in the morning. DS also chose 12am to do a massive poo and then wriggled and writhed (understandably) on and off (falling asleep in between) until I got up at 2.30am and sorted it out. Bad mummy. He's also got a cough which wakes him up sometimes, although I took him to the Dr last week and she said his chest was fine and he is in all other respects as normal. Anyway, I was shattered by 7am (when amazingly DS was still asleep!) but dragged myself out of bed and got dressed for Jillian and fed DS and stuck him in the bouncer in the front room with me and he just about lasted the whole of the workout without complaint, so all in all a success. And it's a really lovely sunny day here and we'll be off to the park as soon as DS has had his nap.

sparklyboots PMK going slowly. Have to keep reminding myself it is a new way of eating not a quick fix. I am struggling to leave food on my plate, but last night I didn't eat after dinner (a major achievement) and I am managing to listen to the CD every day, though I didn't do the mirror exercise yesterday so must do it today. To be honest, my general food intake is pretty good (diet coke and coffee not withstanding) it's more my attitude towards it and my tendency to binge (mostly on chocolate) and then say 'oh well tomorrow is a new day, better eat all 6 bars of chocolate and the rest of the loaf of bread' type thing, and then doing the exact same thing the next day. I know it is largely a mental thing though, because I used to eat a sweet snack after lunch every day and one day I just decided to cut it out and now I don't really think about it (I have herbal tea instead). It's a case of replacing damaging habits with positive ones, for me. Plus, I love to bake, so a no sugar/no carb life was never going to be an option!

CHST · 27/03/2012 14:33

welcome dietcoke I second ripped as the next step on from shred.
3steps sending you bighugs If I can help please let me know.
I will be lurking on here but I am taking a break from jillian as I have just started Turbofire and that will be keeping me busy for quite some weeks. It's cardio based with HIIT and I love it already! I can't believe i'd ever look forward to a work out. Doing the cool down I could literally feel the heat coming from my body. I feel like I need some good cardio so that's me :)

GetOrfMoiiLand · 27/03/2012 17:15

3steps I am so sorry you are feeling so low. That is really sad to hear. I have not suffered from ED's but have had depression on and off my whole adult like and it is awful how the creeping grey gloom overwhelms you, and you don't see it coming. Please continue to post - don't feel that you can't post here, if it helps please carry on. I hope you start to feel better soon.

greenfig · 27/03/2012 21:59

Don't get despondent fruitshoots take the compliments! It's still early daysSmile Perhaps you could do 6w6p after shred? You will have got stronger & can then concentrate on the tummy, as must I!!
To you experts, I have that separated tummy muscle thingy from a giant baby. I think my tummy is quite strong, prob from pilates, & I find Jms tummy exercises the easiest, but I have a layer of wobble over the top. My tum sticks out a bit unless I make an effort to hold myself. My question is, is this likely to improve or is it a question of posture?
Welcome dietcoke I am enjoying NMTZ after shred. It is broken into short sets so you can just focus on the areas you want if short of time.
CHST sounds hardcore!
knotty not v impressive - I went at 11amGrin

Sparklyboots · 27/03/2012 22:36

L2 30DS done, and a run in the morning, hurray.

I bet you are way firmer fruitshoots and in a week or so you'll be able to see... FWIW when I was a proper runner, we'd say it took 3 weeks for a run to 'get into your legs' - three weeks till you saw/ felt the gains. So basically if you've done 30DS, you're only 'seeing' the first week of work. Imagine how fab you're going to look in another 3 weeks... And yes, those chair squats/ v raises are a bitch. I can't even raise an eff off to laughing DP when doing them...
