Much more positive here this am, must have been grumpy due to lack of sleep yesterday &......am down on the scales today to a new low. Am super pleased as must be 6 years since I was last this weightGrin I even think I may have detected some definition in my arms last night-the mirror is becoming less scary! I'm desperate to get stuck into the new dvd's I ordered now.

knottyhair · 23/03/2012 10:38

Morning! Sparkly, hope you get to do something today. gingercat and greenfig, well done on your weight loss - great results!
Did L3 Killer for the first time this morning - really enjoyed it, I like this DVD a lot. I found the first circuit particularly tough, those things on all fours where you have to leave the ground! But not sure if it was tougher than L2 or if it was because I had to keep checking what I was doing. Bit scared of the fact that Jillian apparently has the power to "see into your soul and tell if you're not giving it 100%" - she definitely wouldn't have been pleased with my soul during the jumping lunges. Think I'll do Ripped L1 tomorrow - haven't done it for a while and I'm doing Jillian for "fun" now really, just to help maintain my weight, so I tend to do all the levels of everything in a sort of rotation. Rest day Sunday. Have a good one! x

GetOrfMoiiLand · 23/03/2012 12:22

venetia that is really inspirational, well done.

My back is a lot better now, am going to do ripped L1 tonight I think with no weights to try and get back into it. Will give the more challenging 6W6P routines a miss for a bit.

Am ordering the multi region DVD player and Jillian's Power Yoga for Nutcases (or whatever it is called) so will give that a go next week.

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 23/03/2012 12:59

Week 2 day 7 today
Weigh in day

no weight lost Sad
I did 30DS for toning but I thought I'd at least lose a couple of pounds!!
I will keep going but am a bit disappointed, especially reading everyone else's fabulous weight loses.

greenfig · 23/03/2012 13:32

Fruitshoots don't be Sad. I am the same, I want to see something on the scales, some 'proof', but could it be muscle being heavier? Did you take any measurements that you can compare? I seem to remember you had a loss earlier didn't you?
Grin @ knotty I know exactly what you mean! She seems to time her incouragement/disciplines just for me!! She's v freakyclever
Glad to hear your feeling better getorf

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 23/03/2012 13:53

Thank greenfig
I was 9 st 6 when I started. 9 stone 3 and a bit last Friday and 9 st 4 and 3/4 today.
I'm hoping that it is because it is my time of the month at the moment, but I would love to be under 9 st.
I didn't take many measurements, only over my spare tyre! I'm not measuring that until I am sure I can see a difference otherwise it will be too disheartening!

knottyhair · 23/03/2012 14:05

Fruitshoots, probably a stupid question but are you watching what you eat as well? I don't know how tall you are, but your weight doesn't sound like you're likely to be overweight, and at your sort of level, it's really hard to shift a few pounds. I lost 2.5 stone last year using Jillian DVDs but also calorie counting on MFP. I had a few weeks where I stayed the same or a pound or so went on (my DP always said at the time "that's a good poo" Grin. Sometimes it's better to look at your weight over a month rather than a week, and especially don't underestimate the power of AF! Keep at it and maybe go by how your clothes fit as well. Good luck Smile.

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 23/03/2012 14:21

No I'm just eating like I normally do. I am not in theory overweight. My BMI is at the top of normal range. I just think that 9 st 4 is a bit podgy for me at 5'1 and a bit
Clothes don't seem to fit me well anyway, even the ones I have. I have big spaniel-walking shoulders but no hips, so all these modern hipster style trousers just fall down

I would like there to be a fashion for padded hips like there was padded shoulders in the 80s. Maybe I could have hip implants Grin

Happypiglet · 23/03/2012 14:32

Glad your back feels better Getorf and glad you feel more up today Greenfig
fruitshoots don't be disheartened. It will be working - it's taken me since 1st Jan to get from 9 stone 4 to 8 stone 12... As I only wanted to lose half a stone I think it takes longer. I am certainly fitter. It stuck me today that when I began in Jan doing Shred I found all the lunge moves really hard and now it is only the jumping ones that cause me any grieve. My thighs and bum have improved no end.
L2 Ripped for me today. I like it as I think each circuit is progressively easier rather than the other way round! I still can't do the plank jacks and mountain climbers twice through but managed the first set of each which is better than last time! And I did standing mountain climbers for the second set...my arms give up so I don't think I was getting the CV I needed! Still have to modify some of the abs work for my silly curvy back.
I also like the cool down in Ripped best of all the DVDs as I hate floor stretching as my ham strings are SO inflexible!!

knottyhair · 23/03/2012 14:45

Ooh FruitShoots, did you see Embarrassing Bodies the other week, where a woman had had hip implants? That would definitely put you off! I think what Happypiglet says is important as well. I assume you want to get fit as well as maybe lose a few pounds? Concentrate on your progress in that department - I know I'm amazed at what I can manage now compared to when I started. I never thought I'd start to like burpees, and be able to do proper sit-ups. As Jillian says "you're STROOOOONG" Smile.

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 23/03/2012 14:54

Thank you Happypiglet and knotty

I will keep going as the exercise makes me feel good.
I can't do the level 2 plank jacks yet, I think because it is almost at the end, I'm knackered from the rest of it.
Also the chair squats with a v raise....when I manage to do those all the way through I'll give myself a medal Grin

greenfig · 23/03/2012 15:37

Just completed L3 in shorts due to warm weather. Wish I'd worn leggings as thighs scarily wobbly in rock stars & sumosGrin.
Did anyone see John Bishop last night? Thinking of him helped me keep going today when I found 20 mins of shred tough!

Sparklyboots · 23/03/2012 21:27

OO greenfig the wobbles always haunt me too, I comfort myself by imagining the extra stimulation of whatever is wobbling will encourage my body to break down that area of flab first. Needless to say I have a super sports bra.

Fruitshoots bet you have put on some muscle weight and do remember that muscles hold extra water, which will be enhancing any water retention you're currently experiencing. I don't think any measurement taken during your period is reliable because of extra fluid.

I have done a run today but no Jillian - I had planned to shred but haven't managed today. I will be back on programme tomorrow. But I have been so very good food wise today, I feel great - I haven't mindlessly grazed at all (my worst habit)! I'm aiming for wozname's - 'easy' move woman on Shred's? - abs, they are a thing of beauty, tho I'd settle for no belly fat touching legs in any kind of seated position, tbh.

CHST · 23/03/2012 22:06

Lovely to see so many people here!
Fruitshoots don't get disheartened. I lost maybe 2lbs altogether doing shred and I felt a bit meh about it despite seeing some good physical changes. When I did ripped in 30, I lost a lot more weightwise. I started off at 131lbs (9st 5) and I am 5ft. I carried the excess round my tummy and arms mainly. I am weighing in tomorrow but after shred and ripped got down to 8st 12 (a week ago) I look so much darn better at this weight. It is so nice to wear clothes that hug my figure rather than drown it so keep up the good work, you will see the results soon I am sure.
As for me did level 2 killer buns and thighs today and it was tough in a good way. I actually really like this dvd. Have yet to try level 3 but I think I prefer the fact that there is less cardio work.

bobkate · 23/03/2012 23:58

fruitshoots I put on weight when I first started shredding, a couple of pounds....had it not been for me measuring myself I'd have been mightily peed off! As it was when I'd put those pounds on I'd actually lost about half an inch, it wasn't until about 3 weeks in that I lost those pounds again. I must order my ripped and banish fat...I'm really keen to try a new Jillian.
Did shred level 2 again today, but like you I struggle with the chair squats with v raise. I moan and whinge my way through those and I can't do plank jacks properly so do the Anita version of the plank squats. Phoning it in a bit there... I'll aim to do it properly tomorrow.
I hate the stretching at the end, when Jillian says she's inflexible, she hasn't seen me. It's ridiculous how bad I am at spreading my legs ( can't think of any other way to put that but sounds bit ooh err Blush.
(By the way - love your doggies...read your spaniel shoulder comment and had a sneak at your pics! We have 2 springers and totally get your spaniel shoulder reference Grin

Happypiglet · 24/03/2012 11:58

Hi all...gorgeous day here but still managed to do L2 Ripped this morning. Really pushed myself and was pleased! Now a day of gardening and garage clearing planned... Looking forward to eating those calories later!
bobkate plank jacks are the devils work as are squat thrusts plenty of both in level 2 Ripped! the cool down in Shred is my least favourite I cannot sit in that position never mind bend over! That is why I liked the Ripped cool down as it is all on your feet with no straddle position in site... Anyway it's hardly lady like is it!!!

pigleychez · 24/03/2012 12:14

Good to hear everyone is doing so well. :)

Doing ok on the 6w6p dvd. The back is better and was just a case of getting used to the new moves. Since starting with the shred ive noticed a huge difference in my fitness levels and im sooooo much more flexible. The whole time DH has known me (about 11yrs) id never been able to touch my toes. (partly due to a bad back). He saw me doing the 6w6p workout the other day and was surprised that I can do it now pretty easily. Noticed a difference during my weekly Zumba too.

I dont think ive lost much weight as such since starting with Jillian but noticed a huge difference in my toning. My legs are really toned and looking much nicer wearing leggings and my tummy is noticably flatter which was my main aim really.
Ive not been dieting at all and still having a few treats now and then but then I find I never stick to diets longterm anyway. I'd much rather have a more gradual tone up/weight loss that I can actually maintain.

People have started commenting on my tone up and i feel better in myself. Now the suns out I can wear my summer clothes from last year that actually fit much better now (not so snug!) :)

One disadvantage about the sun being out is that I just want to be out gardening whilst the DC nap rather than inside with Jillian! Keep thinking ill do it when they kids are in bed but then im knackered and it takes alot of effort to actually do it!

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 24/03/2012 12:22

Thank you everyone for the encouragement. I should have measured more body parts when I started!

bobkate I'd just put my Springer back on his lead yesterday when a squirrel ran out in front of him and today a pheasant did the same thing. I am sure I now have one arm longer than the other Grin

pigley how are you finding the 6w6p compared to 30DS? I aim to try 6w6p next.

jellibelli · 24/03/2012 13:25

Not posted in a little while but still Jillianing (just finished Ripped) and 5King on alternate days. I have stepped up the running this week to try to get my speed back up a bit so I am unsure what Jillian to do next. I have Killer which I haven't tried yet and want to but am nervous about overkill for my legs. Any thoughts anyone who runs too?

Fruitshoots last year when I started my new get fit regime with 30DS I weighed and measured myself. My weight didn't start to change until near the end of the 30days but my measurements all dropped significantly Grin I have them on a spreadsheet. I am pretty sure that is what has happened to you. I also commit the cardinal sin and weigh myself each day. I have a clear pattern of my weight increasing when I have my period. I am happy that it is normal for me. I am also surprised at how my weight bobbles up and down over a week, which is why I continue to do it each morning. I am pretty good at guessing what I will see each day now!

6W6P is my favourite Jillian DVD and I lost more weight doing it after 30DS.

jellibelli · 24/03/2012 13:26

Fruitshoots I should have said why not measure now - it's not too late.

knottyhair · 24/03/2012 13:34

Hi to all. Great to see so much activity! Did L1 Ripped this morning - still a tough workout, especially trying to use 3kg and doing mostly advanced/added weights etc. Rest day tomorrow. Not sure what to do on Monday yet - will be either 6W6P L2, Killer L2 or maybe Jillian's cardio kickboxing which I think is an old one and I managed to download it from 4share.com yesterday - looks like 20 mins of cardio, a lot of the moves I recognise from BFBM but in different combos. Might try it for a change!

greenfig · 24/03/2012 14:25

Hoorah!! DVDs finally arrived Did L16w6p & found it ok tummy muscle wise. I think this must be due to pilates strength so I obv need to lose belly fat-the muscles are hidden somewhere underneathGrin
Well done pigley those confident feelings & good comments must be really motivating, along with the coming sunshine.
sparkly you make me laugh so much! I think the straw that broke the camels back for me that fixed my mind to diet almost 2 years ago was when I felt my tummy rest on my lap whilst drivingShock Admitedly I was slouching but def not a good feeling! Enjoy the sunshine everyone, will try my hardest not to regain those pesky w/e lbs....

CHST · 24/03/2012 14:27

ooh knotty that sounds really cool!
Has anyone seen her body revolution workout? I really want it but it is only available in the US so far :(
my NMTZ came in the post today so I had to give that a whirl. I had to drop to 1kg weights though as my arms were killing. However, before that I was mucking around with my son doing deadlifts and arm raises using him as a weight
don't know what got into me but he thought it fun!!!
Anyway I am down to 8st 10 which I am really pleased with

knottyhair · 24/03/2012 15:20

greenfig, glad your DVDs arrived and you like L1 6W6P - L2 is more.... challenging - ahem. CHST, I've had a look at the body revolution stuff on her website and on YouTube and I'd love it, but it's really expensive isn't it? Not for what you get, I know it's loads of DVDs but I'm not sure I could afford that all in one go, I'd have to save up!

knottyhair · 24/03/2012 15:21

And well done on the weight loss Smile!
