Thanks everyone for your kind words - I actually feel a lot better. I took some diclofenac and had a bit if a rest and it isn't twinging as much now. I won't be silly and will leave DVDs until the weekend I think, and will go back to 2 or 3k weights!

Welcome to all the new shredders!

Virgin shredders - you will be fine. I hadn't worked out for YEARS before January this year, just a few half-arsed trips to the gym (where I mostly went in the jacuzzi anyway) - I last ran a lot and worked out in 2006. So I was really, really unfit. So if I can do it anyone can I am sure.

As to is it worth it and does it change your body - I posted this earlier on the low carb thread I am on here. I was rifling through an old handbag and found some body measurements which I remember taking in November in a fit of depression as I had put so much weight on.

It doesn't have my weight on but my hips waist and bust (but assume my weight was around the 12.3 mark as it was in December).

Hips - was 41, now 37
Waist - was 31, now 26.5
Weight was 12.3 now 10.9

Also I have gone on the site linked to upthread, using all my old measurements (apart from the measurement for my neck, which I didn't take back in November so assume it is the same as now, 12 inches) and according to the measurements I used to be 30.5% body fat (which is acceptable) and now I am 19.5% body fat.

This is probably 50-50 diet and exercise, but I probably look a lot fitter now than when I just ran, or went to aerobics once a week. I think the reason they work so well is that they are so easy to fit in every day - there is no way on earth I would ever bother doing an hr long DVD, but 20 minutes fits easily into a busy day.

I love Jillian.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 21/03/2012 16:22

thatgirl poor you - you don't sound very well, could you be coming down with a cold?

Sometimes you just can't be arsed with it and it seems 100% harder than normal - I have on occasions told Jillian to piss right off and turned the TV off. Don't kick yourself - make sure you get rid of your headache and give it a go again when you are feeling a bit better.

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 21/03/2012 16:49

Wow GetOrf that's fabulous!

I wish I'd measured more of myself now!

hope your back is better really soon.

knottyhair · 21/03/2012 17:25

thatgirl, hope your headache gets better soon, that doesn't sound quite right! But I agree with the others, I remember the beginning being very tough, stick with it! Getorf, those measurements are amazing, well done!!

thatgirlsevil · 21/03/2012 19:41

Thanks for the much needed pep talk everybody.

I'm feeling a bit better now...my legs are beginning to ache a bit, but I know I can do this thing...you've all convinced me of that.

I think that perhaps I went at it just a little bit too hard...I could feel my head aching when I was doing the abs exercises and I know I was probably pushing just a bit more than I should have done...I'm terrible at stomach crunches so I was overcompensating and I could feel my face contorting and my head pounding...I'm an absolute twat eejit.

GetOrf...WOW, that's incredible progress...well done to you, and thanks for sharing.

bobkate · 21/03/2012 20:44

Thanks for the welcomes...been out all day today so had no time to shred but will be back at it tomorrow morning, strangely looking forward to it! Does anyone know anywhere good cheap that's selling ripped and banish fat?
I usually have to do it with my almost 2 year old, who seemingly loves Jill, mooching about whilst I do it...I started off using tins of tomatoes as didn't have any weights, and my DD would go and get two of her toy tins of food and gets well into the squats and press! Oh and she loves doing knee circles! I keep meaning to video her.
I def recommend getting a tape measure out. It's what's really spurred me on to keep at it and be arsed to do it frankly! I think I'm probably quite a lazy mare at heart, but I can't ignore the tummy muscles that are lurking, visable at times, and it's what spurs me on to do it each most days!

Sparklyboots · 21/03/2012 21:07

OMG, Getorf you are fit! No shred for me tonight; did my intervals up the stairs session, which is a total bitch. Aiming for 5 nights shred/ week and 5 runs, hoping for 6 of each but like to give myself room for manoeuvre... V nice to have so many people on the thread.

CHST · 21/03/2012 21:57

Did banish fat boost metabolism tonight but couldn't get through all of it :( I started getting acid burn on the second circuit and thought I was going to puke. Pushed through and did the 6th circuit (worst one IMO) and then gave up half way through the second...simply couldn't push myself anymore. Oh well!!! I think I work out better in the day rather than after dinner

Happypiglet · 21/03/2012 22:31

CHST that sixth circuit is awful isn't it? I did BFBM today too and although I completed it I did cheat and do low impact star jumps in circuit three as my pelvic floor just cannot do them!
I did do everything else properly though (except for a few s issor kicks which i meissed out!) which is a first for me.... I did it first thing after dropping kids off at school.. There is no way I could get through it in the evening or Zionist after any sort of food!
Welcome to all newbies keep at it
NMTZ for me tomorrow which is OK once you get past the truly awful first three circuits!

Happypiglet · 21/03/2012 22:32

Where did that Zionist come from... Weird I think it was suppoed to be soonish.....Jillian is still not having a positive impact on my typing skills....

CHST · 21/03/2012 22:50

I meant seventh circuit! Yes the 6th circuit is awful! I have ordered my nmtz!

knottyhair · 22/03/2012 09:18

CHST, I agree that circuit 6 of BFBM is the devil's work. Happypiglet, I have to exercise first thing or there's no way I'd do it. Managed to do L4 Ripped before the school run this morning so I'm "free to go and have an awesome day" - not sure that supermarket shopping and cleaning the loos constitutes an awesome day though. I really like L4, even though it's tough. The bloody burpees followed by scissor jumps are a killer.

greenfig · 22/03/2012 09:28

Thanks CHST & Getorf (& of course well done!) I am needing some results based inspiration! I am enjoying it & feeling stronger but want to reduce weight & body fat % & am def motivated by seeing the results. Any one else like me ie lost some weight & now making a last push to shift the reluctant last bit, tone & fitten up (or been me & maintaining)? It's hard to relate what I'm doing to you super fit hardcore gals!

VenetiaLanyon · 22/03/2012 09:38

Hi Greenfig, wanted to give you a positive note from a non-hardcore Jillian addict Smile.

I stick to 2kg weights, have never done a back-to-back, and don't do any other exercise apart from maybe 20-30 mins walking most days. I do, however, do Jillian 6 days a week, and have done for most of the last year, apart from minor periods of illness and injury.

But I'm living proof that Jillian alone can work for you; I have managed to lose 2 stone over the last 11 months without really dieting; have been maintaining since end Jan. I lost the weight over the first few months, but over the last 6 months my body has definitely become fairly "toned"; I think that you notice some shredding benefits immediately, but others come in over a significant period of time.

Hope that that's the kind of inspiration that you're looking for -get to it, and don't phone it in! Grin

Happypiglet · 22/03/2012 10:12

Wow Venetia that is amazing weight loss...
Greenfig I do not do back to backs and my max weight is 3kg and on some moves I use 1kg... I try to do 5 times a week and mostly get there..two of those sessions are the longer BFBm and NMTZ
I was not looking to loose much weight and have not dieted but since starting in Jan have lost 6 lbs and toned up loads.
I also feel a lot better in myself and think the raging PMT I suffer from has been helped. My doctor recommended more exercise when I went to see him about it
Just done NMTZ its actually the first 5 circuits that are bad! But I like the last two.
Knotty hair my awesome day also includes cleaning eldests bedroom which is my least favourite thing to do in the world would rather clean loos!!,

greenfig · 22/03/2012 10:27

Thanks venetia that's v encouraging.Smile
Hope getorf & thatgirl are feeling better. Are you seeing any results yet sparkly? Long walk in the sunshine & L2 with extra inner thigh exercises for me today. Still only 4lbs down but know I'll put on @ the w/e once again as we have friends coming. Making v slow progress here but still keen!

rosalux · 22/03/2012 11:21

RI30 L1D9 done. Dropped back down to 3kg weights for a couple of the exercises as was feeling a bit sore in my upper back. Still sweating by half way through, but definitely getting easier so looking forward to starting L2 on Monday. Will have a look this weekend. Also started PMcK yesterday and whilst I still had wine and chocolate I didn't scarf the latter down with a panicky feeling like usual and went to bed not feeling stuffed, which is definitely progress.

CHST · 22/03/2012 13:14

did level 1 of extreme shed and shred today. Actually really liked it except the burpees with lateral jumps. Hate burpees anyway!! She advises to do both levels together and there was definitely enough in the tank for me to do that but I don't have the time for a double today! It's great to hear everyone's progress!!

notyummy · 22/03/2012 14:00

Knotty - I also did L4 Ripped today. Agree re the burpees etc - and the tricep push ips.... One of the benefits though of doing L4 back to back with something else is when you 'only' do one level it seemed OK, even though bits of it are really challenging.

Rosa - I think there is a real big step from L1 to 2 in |Ripped. This is not meant to put yu off - go for it! - but don't feel disappointed if you find it touh. (Now I have said that you will breeze through it Wink)

knottyhair · 22/03/2012 15:08

Ooh yes notyummy, those push-ups with the funny name. They're tough!

sarahloumadam · 22/03/2012 15:39

hi everyone

Some really inspirational stuff on here! My DS has turned into a mini personal trainer "are you doing your exercises today?" "don't think so, got a really sore throat" "you have to mum!" "might just do Level 1" "No! Do Level 3!!" Anyway, I did just do Level 1 but it was more than I was planning on! I did Level 2 (30DS) last night and found some of the plank moves quite tricky but I really enjoyed it. Feeling nicely achy all over.

sarahloumadam · 22/03/2012 15:40

Whoops. It is greedygirl btw, I name changed for something else and forgot to change back! I am hopeless.

greenfig · 22/03/2012 19:23

Just having a little restBlush to summon enough energy to shred tonight-v late to bed last night. Thanks for your message happypiglet must have xpost earlier.

Sparklyboots · 22/03/2012 20:47

Unscheduled rest day for me, boo hoo; my childcare fell through for my run this morning (a.k.a. DP failed to get out of bed in time) and I am on deadline, or rather behind it so doing my homework tonight. Decks will be cleared for tomorrow though. Good luck everyone for tonight

gingercat12 · 23/03/2012 08:29

How are thatgirl and Getorf? Are you feeling any better?

Venetia and Getorf That is amazing.

I must admit I only allow myself to snack on fruit, and do not eat bread, and in the past 2 months I lost about a stone. Thanks Jillian! I really thought I was crap with L3 lately, but obviously she just wants our personal best Grin

This means I went under 80kg (please, do not tell my DH my real weight), which was a bit ofa psychological barrier for me. Now I go for 75 kg. Have a great weekend!
