Over indulgent halfterm. Aim is to lose 1.5 lbs a week by Easter holidays or (next six weeks for those of you without school age monsters!). Anyone want to join me in a bid for some
Healthy eating and doing 30 day shred.

Hi, am new to thus but it looks so exciting! Everyone seems really pumped. So, I've ordered 30 day shred DVD, signed up to a run, signed on to MFP - scary as have eaten almost my calories and it's only mid afternoon. Lesson learned! Am all set to go. I'm starting at 13 stone and want to be 9.5 ish. That'll take about a hundred years. But I am where I am. I've got a 5 yr old and a 4 month old so still breast feeding. Wish me luck!

Lilyloo · 06/03/2012 14:23

Back on the shred yesterday , haven't had chance yet today as went food shopping straight from work so only just had lunch. Will be doing school run soon so might be tonight before i get it done now !

ssmile · 06/03/2012 14:24

Hi veggy our children are similar ages and I started 9wks ago and have lost 17-18lbs so far. I "allow" myself extra 200 calories for BF (baby is 6mths) and on growth spurt days 250 as I really need it. My weight is steadily dropping off 1-2lbs a week. Gd luck

Veggy · 06/03/2012 16:50

Wow Ssmile, that's incredible. 18lbs in 9 weeks!!! That just seems like a dream . I just can't imagine loosing weight. I feel like I've been this size frorevevr and will continue to be. But hearing that you've succeeded is amazing.
Don't you feel totally knackered though? I do walk and try to run a couple times a week - just 20mins, very slowly. But it just makes me exhausted and ravenously hungry. How do you curb hunger? I literally feel like eating all day.

Veggy · 06/03/2012 16:52

Sorry Ssmile, one more thing - are you doing everything? As in calorie counting, 30 day shred DVD and running? I'm anxious about how to fit it all in! And how not to collapse!

ssmile · 06/03/2012 18:55

First week was hardest cutting way down on the sugar I was eating but now I feel a lot better for it and less tired. I make myself walk to school and back daily its 3.2miles total and shred every other day. Still doing level 1 but can do all now except full push ups. I find level two still too hard though as have weak back. I'm eating average1800c a day but then do 400c of exercise. I'm strict about logging on mfp its SO easy to overeat I find but I'm getting results and feeling good about it so its spurring me on. I'm still getting up 3-5x a night with babe but by being fitter I'm honestly coping better mentally and physically than with first DD :) gd luck I'm great believer in its simple just eat less exercise more and you will lose weight! My treat is a crunchie bar & low cal hot cross bun &options hot chocolate to meet my sweet cravings.

ssmile · 06/03/2012 19:06

I also meant to say I like MFP as I can look at a graph of my daily calories over the week. It means if I go over one day (like we went to pub for dinner last night) I will work hard on the next two days to be under so it evens out. I ate massive chocolate cake on my birthday last month as a blow out,I only lost half pound that week :o but then lost 2.5 on another week. This is a lifestyle change for me as I have 3stone to lose and maintain ideally by Aug but I'm not stressing too much just steadily eating :) less

Veggy · 06/03/2012 19:32

Yes, the amount of sugar and sweet things I eat is ridiculous. That's going to be hard. I did it today though - possibly my first biscuit free day for about a year! I do feel a bit hollow, but I guess I just need to get used to it. I do think it's amazing how well you've done, I hope I have the same strength of will! And yes, I figured that if I wasn't carrying around so much weight I would feel more energetic....it can't be good being so heavy.
And the food log is good. It certainly stopped me from snacking as I'd already put my dinner in and that was my limit, so no extra nibbles were allowed.
DVD should arrive in a day or two. Sounds a bit terrifying so I'll see how I get on.
Thanks for your tips.

SachaF · 07/03/2012 11:33

Veggy, well done on cutting out the biscuits for a day, it just becomes such a habit but I only started using MFP just over a week ago and I'm finding it really helps, makes me think 'do I really need that biscuit with my cup of tea?' Well done on contemplating all this whilst you are still bfing! Don't worry about occasionally falling off the wagon, just use it to remotivate yourself!

SSmile, that makes me feel better that you only shred every other day. I also run (not enough) so am using shred DVD to fill in the gaps if I haven't been for a run. So I ran Sunday, nothing Monday, was going to shred yesterday but have finally got round to it today as the weather is naff for running, hopefully will run tomorrow, Friday rest day and then running both days at the weekend (an event, I'm registered so I have to do the run whatever the weather!).

Level 1 day 1 tick! Did 'Natalie' but half full press ups and half semi press ups, it's felt like a really good workout and has really lifted my mood!

ssmile · 07/03/2012 18:00

Oooh biscuits I love SO much but can't have them in the house I can easily eat whole packet. When babe was born I was eating packet of bourbons a day Blush no wonder I put on half stone in 6wks post birth! Im eating the caramel crack a jack aka "pollicstrofoam tiles" rice cake things not Brill but they do help my I NEED something crunchie &sweet craving

ssmile · 07/03/2012 18:03

Wow sachaf I still struggle to do one full pressup but I've gone from 5half press ups to 27now as my arms get stronger. I can't run though due to back injury but my head would love to. I cycle when I get the chance which is hardly ever at the moment, once babe is big enough to go on the back of my bike I will be off again :)

Corriewatcher · 08/03/2012 17:36

Managed to Shred today for first time in 6 days, so feel good for that. Determined not to let all the good work go to nothing by being derailed by illness. Feel much better.

BettyBathroom · 08/03/2012 19:30

Good work Corrie worst bit about exercise is often the thinking about it beforehand. I'm still running - will finish the c25k next week.

bugsylugs · 08/03/2012 20:58

Hi I logged in at the beginning but then off radar. Restarted shred last Monday aiming for three times a week only did 2 last week but also went to the gym once. Monday weight day lost 1 lb but went from obese to overweight so a boost. Done L1 D5 tried full press up could not even do one was surprised as used to be quite good at them otherwise doing the harder stuff.

Everyone is doing well keep on going

ssmile · 09/03/2012 12:18

Had crap start to the day eating a double decker on the way back from school then cooking batch of biscuits and eating three quarters of them :( just worked out if I have only cuppa soup for lunch and 400cdinner I'm 400c over today even with BF, shred and an hours walk. :( but I'm SO tired babe been feeding every two hours again around the clock last few days (she is 6mths old&slow up take of much needed solids) &other DD had ear infection all wk and not sleeping well. Hohum I've been 200c over everyday this wk and only lost 1lb guess its just been one of those weeks. Hope everyone else doing better..

Lilyloo · 09/03/2012 13:30

ssmile don't worry sounds like you needed it , its only one day back on it tom Smile

This week i have done shred l2 Mon , 1 hour walk Tue and Wed and shred l3 yesterday. My that is hard , but more on my legs i felt and less on my back due to less plank moves so better for me. Am going to shred again this afternoon. Weigh in tom hoping for 2 lb but think it is more likely to be 1. Am going to have a couple of glasses of wine tonight though.

BettyBathroom · 09/03/2012 14:57

ssmile 200 over is still good - you are still losing that's something to celebrate. I think you're amazing trying to lose weight while babes are so small - hard to keep all those balls in the air. When mine were small I used to just walk for miles - I was too exhausted to think about healthy eating.

I find a glass of wine every night really helps me - keeps me away from picking at other things, that could lead to disaster. Had to buy small size in leggings today - can't remember the last time that happened - I know it's just vanity sizing but the little boasts help.

Lilyloo · 10/03/2012 08:31

Very fed up , just done my weekly weigh in and i have lost nothing Sad I have been quite good with my food all week and exercised every day. The only week i had a good loss was when i was feeling ill and hardly exercised.
Not sure how i am going to stay motivated this week.

BettyBathroom · 10/03/2012 10:43

Lilyloo last week I posted that I had lost 0.1kg and I was a little down about it - this week it looks like I am heading for a loss of nearly 2kg! And it wasn't monthly water retention either. There is no explaining this, I was good both weeks - exercised and stuck to my allowances but one week virtually zero followed by the next week showing a whopping loss.

Please stick with it - I bet it will show up next week!

Corriewatcher · 10/03/2012 18:20

Snap, BettyBathroom! I weighed myself this morning to see how I was doing - had had a big mum's out with lots of wine and food on Thurs! Amazed that I'd lost about 1.5lbs and was down to 9'7. So pleased, even though doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it as have had a virus this week and have hardly exercised. So keep with it Lilyloo!

bugsylugs · 10/03/2012 23:56

lilyloo it is probably just your body reorganising after being unwell. Keep at it also when I did slimming world I thought my weigh in results were about a week behind what I had done.ssmile you are doing so well you are allowed to have the occasional less good day. Remember for the first yr most calories are milk not the solids lo are eating the first 6 months is important for tastes textures handling social aspect not for the nutrition really. I think baby led weaning talks a lot of sense I did not do it. Looked into it after and wished I had as I spent ages worrying as friends were saying their lo had eaten full pot of this whole sachet serving of that. I felt ds should be doing the same so stuck to lots of things he liked BIG mistake when really he was doing brilliantly.

Have done more exercise than I have planned for my week so am pleased I aim for a conservative/ realistic 3 sessions a week. Did day L1D6 today find it harder or maybe I am doing more. Respect lilyloo
Hope all have good Sundays planned

Lilyloo · 11/03/2012 11:00

thanks guys , i hope your all right and i see a loss again next week , i have to say though i drowned my sorrows in a bottle of wine last night Blush oh dear !!!
However i am back on it today , porridge for breakfast and level 3 shred done. Just off out now to watch ds play footy.
Hope you all had 'good' weekend !
Corrie and Betty well done on the losses Smile
Bugsy i do think you just automatically push yourself harder as you get used to it. Whilst i am doing l3 i am doing it all Anita style so pushing towards Natalie each session. Dont think i will ever be able to do Natalie style press ups though !

ssmile · 11/03/2012 13:37

I have hit my Target this week but not in a nice way as went down with tummy bug Fri night, which explains why I felt so awful Friday morn &afternoon. Feeling better now, so going to take it as easy as I can (with 2kids) for couple days. hope everyone else is enjoying some lovely sunshine.

ssmile · 11/03/2012 13:42

Gd luck this wk lillyloo I found when I didn't lose anything I wasn't being strict enough on my portion sizes so I went back to weighing everything and no wine and it worked. Each 1lb fat is approx 3500 calories, but then again I also weighed myself as a joke with my DH before and after a poo and lost a pound :o its worth a try :)

BettyBathroom · 12/03/2012 07:18

Morning - weigh-in day! This week I have lost 2 kg - nearly 41/2 lbs, I now weigh 64.2kg Grin - I'm just a whisper off meeting the 9lb off by Easter goal - another 1/2 lb to go! I had no loss last week so this was me playing catch up! And it's the last week of my C25k programme - I will hopefully be running a solid 30min this week. Good luck on your weigh in everyone.
