Over indulgent halfterm. Aim is to lose 1.5 lbs a week by Easter holidays or (next six weeks for those of you without school age monsters!). Anyone want to join me in a bid for some
Healthy eating and doing 30 day shred.
Starting weight 10stone 2. Weigh in on Monday's. Start scary level one of shredding tomorrow!

Just realised I need to declare my starting weight, 12 stone 6lbs (5' 11" tall) which puts my BMI at 24.3 (according to NHS website). I would like to get to 11 stone 11lbs - BMI 23 - exactly 9lbs to go.

Corriewatcher · 22/02/2012 11:07

I've done pretty well the past two days with Shredding and 50 mins dog walking both days. On Monday I had to use some of the exercise calories to keep within my MFP target, but yesterday I did pretty well. I've started measuring out portions more to make sure I'm not cheating (or phoning it in, as Jillian would say!).

Today hasn't started too well - DH has come down with Norovirus, and dog rolled in loads of deer poo during walk which meant I had to bathe her then scrub the bathroom, utility room, and car (urgh!). After that, I'm afraid I sinned and had a piece of toast (granary though) with butter and a cup of coffee - it was either that or a packet of chocolate hobnobs! Have also had to switch my planned 5k run to tomorrow as now got to get down to work. Will try to be strict with myself food-wise for rest of day, as won't have many exercise calories to use up.

One thing I'm finding through portion control is that I'm waking up hungry, which I don't think I usually do. Hopefully, that's a good sign!

Good luck everyone for keeping within your MFP limits today!

Racheybabez · 22/02/2012 20:57

just done jillians bfbm and am in 100 calories of on mfp without the extra for exercise recon the luck from corriewatch helps lol

SantieMaggie · 22/02/2012 21:03

Try doing extra stretches to prevent aching - these dvds never have enough!

Holidaysressential · 22/02/2012 22:29

Waking up hungry would be ok- going to bed hungry is less tolerable. Problem is am doing shred at 7pm and then not having huge dinner so by 10 pm am starving - help please anyone?

OP posts:
Racheybabez · 22/02/2012 22:42

i do my exercise in the evening to and am staving after, i save enough calories to have a yoghurt (mullerrice) to take the edge off

i find the mullerrice keeps me fuller longer than any other yoghurts

BettyBathroom · 22/02/2012 23:19

I'm having to sit on the Bench for a while - my back hurts - I think it might be all the planks in Level 2. Going to continue running and will return to Shredding when my back improves.

Still sticking to the calorie limit - although my nutritional breakdown looked really bad - I was deficient in nearly all nutrients - till I discovered their data isn't complete....phew!

worley · 24/02/2012 06:47

I started level 2 of the shred last night and my arms and shoulders were throbbing by the time I went to bed. I think I remember it feeling like that last time I started level 2. I was off Tuesday and did the davina power of three and I can still feel it in my legs and bum this morning.
I tend to get home at 5pm (I work full time) get dinner on the go and once it's in oven will do the shred so that tea is cooked once I am finished. or I would be starving by late evening.
only once this week I've got up early and done the shred but I prefere my lay in at the moment :)

notnowImreading · 24/02/2012 07:11

I've just done level 1 day 1 of the shred - think I may die! Have done no exercise at all for five years so really need to get fit. I was sick and can't stomach my breakfast so it's keeping calories down too Smile

Racheybabez · 24/02/2012 09:19

done day 2 of bmbf and i hurt

Holidaysressential · 24/02/2012 10:10

Didn't manage shred yesterday so have done it 3 times so far this week - hope to do it today though. Can't seem to keep to 1200 cals on mfp it's very low.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 24/02/2012 10:22

Can I join?

Just completed L1D8.

Starting weight 10st 6lb, height 5'8"

Weighed yesterday lost 4lb.

I'm aiming to do it every day, but I think that may change when I get to level 2 it looks scary!

Corriewatcher · 24/02/2012 11:05

Boiled egg - don't worry too much about level 2. Once I'd been doing level 1 for a while, I didn't find it too bad to move up, although I think the strength exercises with the plank are pretty difficult. I've just got a couple more goes on level 2, then it's up to level 3.

I've just done L2D8, and did a 5k run yesterday for some variety. I'm finding I'm needing to do exercise every day so I can use the calories. As Holidaysreseential says, 1200 is not very much at all! On the plus side, people have started to comment that I'm looking thinner which is spurring me on.

BettyBathroom · 24/02/2012 11:15

Level 2 gave me backache so be careful not to over do it. Walked this morning rather than doing the shred - ended up walking 7km and burning 500kcal...that should allow for a glass or 2 of Wine tonight!

I agree that 1200 is hard to stick to, I need to do exercise everyday as well to stay below the limit but other than that I think it's not too bad.

Boiled Egg we're the same height and I'm curious - what's your target weight?

SachaF · 24/02/2012 13:26

Can I join please? My Lent resolution is to get a bit more active (can run 10k fine but recently have only run once a week). I want to loose 3kg by Easter, roughly a pound a week. Currently I am 66kg. I have just been told about MFP today by a friend so am logging today's food, but struggling to see how 1300 odd calories will be enough to keep me going!
My plan is to run twice a week and do 30 day shred (or 6 week 6 pack) twice a week for the next 6 weeks, but am procrastinating as have been poorly this week!
My motivators are two fold - I have an orienteering race at the end of March which if I am a bit lighter I will be faster for, and also I have an event that warrants a new dress soon after Easter!
So please help kick me into action!

SachaF · 24/02/2012 15:05

Holidaysressential, it seems vegetable risotto is high in carbs but not too onerous on the calories. 100g (ie lots) of rice is 350 cal, plus the minimal veg calories (carrots, broccoli, mushrooms and pepper) it's coming out at less than 500 cals, which I think is good!

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 24/02/2012 16:11

Hi Betty I'm usually always around the 10st mark, but gained weight over Christmas, 7lbs or so, and I just wanted to loose it and get a little less wobbly round the edges.

Do you think it sounds a lot? Blush

keepmoving · 24/02/2012 18:11

Good news received my shred DVD; Bad news, fell down some steps and have sprained my ankle! Seriously p'd off. Will now have to stick to 1200 calories a day until ankle recovers. Have been pretty good this week so hopefully will have lost a couple of lbs by Monday.

BettyBathroom · 24/02/2012 20:48

Rotten luck, get well soon Keep moving

Boiled egg was just being a bit nosey about your target - sounds good, I'd love to be 10st - I've never been able to maintain at that level but it's still where I'd like to be.

Holidaysressential · 24/02/2012 23:06

Hi all - welcome to new comers!
This is an encouraging weekend message - lets all try and stay on track for Saturday and Sunday. Aim - run round lots with the kids try and do shred and although allow the odd weekend sin try and stay on track food wise. Don't give in too much - weigh in on Monday - we will all be thinner by Easter if we get moving and eat abit less.

SachaF · 25/02/2012 13:26

Holidays, thanks for the pep talk! Although I'm not planning to do exercise today (still sore throat) I have been hoovering and am about to take kids to the park so hopefully that'll give me a few extra calories ready for tonight's roast dinner!
Boiled egg, sounds similar to what I am hoping to achieve, at a pound a week that'd have you back to your target weight soon after Easter.

Getting to grips with MFP, 'tis definately an interesting app. Am having to add a few foods though, as for example today's sandwich filling was about 25g and they only had 100g of it logged. But it is definately making me think more about what I am eating. I resisted a biscuit with my coffee and have not defrosted the pack of Chelsea Buns that I would inevitably find myself eating 2 at a time of!

BettyBathroom · 25/02/2012 13:51

Sacha You can change the serving size on the Add Food page by clicking on the arrow to the right and you can also change the number of servings so you should be able to get closer to the amount you actually ate.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 25/02/2012 15:55

L1D9. Am also just eating as I always do, I eat a good balanced diet, just seem to have had a very greedy Christmas, and piled on an extra half stone. Blush

That said, I did start to eat the odd slice of wholemeal bread which I haven't had for ages, so have stopped that. I've managed to loose 4lbs so far.

Thanks Sacha and Betty for your encouragement:)

BettyBathroom · 25/02/2012 16:05

Boiled egg 4lbs is brilliant, well done!

I'm trying to go low on the Carbs - aiming to have about half of recommended intake and only 85%Cocoa Choc. Still finding enough room for a couple of glasses of wine though if I add exercise to my daily total. Eating more protein is helping to reduce the hunger pangs, think it's going well so far.

BettyBathroom · 27/02/2012 08:00

Weighing in this Monday at 66.2kg - that's a loss of nearly 4lbs in one week. Very happy after struggling to lose any weight for the last 4 months! Had a BBQ yesterday - went for a walk beforehand to give us some extra calories to play with...which meant I stayed easily within my calorie allowance. Fingers crossed for this week.
