Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

Molti - well done on the 3lb loss.

Jelly - I do understand about the appetite thing. I went for a run at 6 am and despite eating 3 meals with fruit/low point snacks in between, I have still felt ravenous for most of the day. Thankfully I was at work which took my mind off it, would have been different if I'd been at home. I am hoping it will get easier with time ...

Obviously - am Envy at your personal shopping experience. I did the same at JL a few years back and had a lovely time although I also spent ££££. Did you get anything nice? {seeking vicarious retail pleasure}

ObviouslyOblivious · 23/02/2012 08:04

Lola - not as much as I'd hoped! But I did learn what does and doesn't suit me so I feel more confident shopping on my own
I got a dress, a jacket, a scarf, a top and a blousey type thing. It was great fun :o

Moltisanti · 23/02/2012 15:11

How are we all doing today?

The sun is out and it's making me motivated to get myself in shape for spring. Have got roast chicken for tea, only 10 pp.

clare8allthepies · 23/02/2012 15:16

Hi everyone, really struggling today, already eaten 2 and a half of DD's chicken nuggets at soft play today Blush counted them in though and with dinner still within daily points. Will have to keep a will of iron tonight not to have any sneaky vinos!

MrJelly · 23/02/2012 16:36

What a lovely day Smile

Am having a good day so far and am off to a spinning class tonight.

Can't think what to have for my tea when I come back - needs to be no more than 10 points (but less would be good) and something snacky (I am having a bowl of Shreddies before the gym as tea no.1) - am totally devoid of ideas Confused Any thoughts?

CiderwithBuda · 23/02/2012 16:39

Hi all. I'm still doing ok. Good day yesterday. Within points even with a few weak white wine sodas. Good day so far today I think. Need to write it all down though.

Haven't managed any exercise though. DH is planning a gardening afternoon tomorrow if weather ok so suspect I'll be doing that.

Rezolution · 23/02/2012 16:43

Hello all. Have not posted on here for a while as I have been busy. Anyway, am now at 11st8.5lbs which means I have lost 1st7.5pounds so far. Had a mixed day today really... started off telling myself I would have a fruit n veg only day but things have gone off the rails a bit since then.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 23/02/2012 17:50

Hi, can I join you too? I am already on one of the other ongoing weightloss threads, but that's not specifically for WW so quite fancy some chat and mutual support with that!

I started WW online just after Christmas (because of the special offer and cashback!), and have lost about 9lbs so far. My initial target was getting back under 11st (started at about 11st 11) so I am not far off that now and have a lovely new pair of boots waiting to be worn when I get there Grin Haven't yet decided what my "end target" should be, I think the next target will be 10 1/2st and then see how I feel if/when I get there.

When I started I was given 26 daily points, but I found that impossible to stick to and would keep accidentally going over and then getting frustrated and pigging out. So in the end I manually bumped it up to 29 points (it says you can do this!) and am finding that more manageable, although I still need to use some of my weekly points most days and am still sometimes a bit over at the end of the week. But it seems to be working all the same!

I was doing loads of exercise when I started, partly to get more points to eatBlush, but have had a bad cough and chest so haven't been able to do any exercise for nearly 5 weeks, which is making it harder to stick to; but am going back to the doc's tomorrow to try and get it sorted, I am surprisingly keen to get moving again!

Rezolution · 23/02/2012 17:53

Yes Mynameis it is better if you can exercise. Have not been to the baths for four weeks now because husband had a car accident and had to borrow my car to get to work. So I am determined to get back" in the swim" next week if I can.
Still walk every day but that has been hard because the DCs were off school on HT and being teenagers they are allergic to exercise so I have to go off on my own.

LolaLadybird · 23/02/2012 20:25

Welcome Myname and welcome back to Rez.

WI this morning and 2lb loss so that's 8lbs in 3 weeks which I'm happy with.

Strange thing happened to me today. Decided I would allow myself a piece of cake at work this afternoon. Anyway, had one bite of the cake and decided it was dry and not that nice so threw it in the bin. I did have a WW choc biscuit in my drawer so it's not like I had to go without but pre-WW I definitely would have scoffed the cake, dry or not.

I second the comments about exercise, it makes a big difference even allowing for the fact that you can eat more. I lost a stone and a half last year on WW and it was going really well. I then had a riding accident and couldn't exercise from September until Jan of this year so I ditched WW. I just found it too hard when I couldn't exercise. It is great to be moving again.

MrJelly · 23/02/2012 20:51

Totally agree about the exercise - I am a bit of a (fat) gym bunny and hate not being able to exercise. I tore my calf muscle in September and couldn't exercise for about 6 weeks and I just stayed at home and ate instead and before I knew it, half a stone went on just like that Sad And then Christmas happened, and another half a stone appeared!

Ended up having some frozen mash potato with a small portion of grated cheese on for tea (8pp) - it was delicious Grin

LolaLadybird · 23/02/2012 21:01

Exactly Jelly - for me the healthy eating and exercise go hand in hand. Really struggle to do one without the other.

MrJelly · 23/02/2012 21:24

Lola that is me to a tee - I am exactly the same! I was chatting to a friend about it a while ago and she said that she thinks women have it in their mind that they are either being 'good' (eating well/exercising) or 'bad' (eating crap/not exercising) and there is no in the middle of this - that sums me up perfectly!

ObviouslyOblivious · 23/02/2012 21:29

First day back at work today. There was a Starbucks muffin and latte combination involved :( Never mind, that's what weeklies are for right?!

Littlefish · 23/02/2012 22:42

Hi all. Weighed in tonight, and unfortunately I've put on half a pound. Never mind - I've got my period qt the moment, so hopefully that half pound will be gone by next week.

Well done to everyone who's lost this week.

OP posts:
Vajazzler · 24/02/2012 07:26

I too gained half a pound this week. I struggle to understand my weight loss progress. My last 4 weigh ins go like this
+0.5(this week)
-5.5
-0.5
-5
+0.5

And yes i never do anything different! Always stick to dailies, never eat more than 3 weeklies but usually none. Always earn activity points.

My face usually looks like this Hmm when i get on the scales

Rezolution · 24/02/2012 08:36

Vajazzler That is a bit like me too. I have had one or two weigh ins where I lost nothing or only half a pound for weeks and then wham 2and a half pounds came off in a lump! Very strange as I do like you - always stickto daily points - usually about 21 or 23 points a day, never use weeklies and never use exercise points. Also walk every day so that is constant more or less. D'you Think your body has its own agenda? Confused

popelloucla · 24/02/2012 13:22

Hi all, another newbie here.
Started WW again today.
I'm doing it online and want to lose a stone and a half before I go on holiday in July. It works out at about a lb a week, so should be achievable.
After that I need to lose another couple of stone to be classed as healthy.
I have given up crisps for lent, so hopefully that will help as crisps are my biggest vice.

MrJelly · 24/02/2012 16:45

Right, I am a bit confused reading some posts on here. I thought the weekly points were to be used but none of you seem to be eating them Hmm Am I missing something (I may well be as I am doing it online and not going to classes).

I eat all my weekly points and all my activity points aswell.

CiderwithBuda · 24/02/2012 17:39

I usually use my weekly points. I tend to drink mine!

Feeling a bit peed off now. Did exactly what everyone says not to do and went to the supermarket just before lunch so was starving. Bought myself a sainsburys be good to yourself wrap thing and it was 9 points! Bought hot cross buns too and they are 5 points each.

Having chicken fajitas for dinner tonight. I will have salsa instead of sour cream so hopefully won't be too bad.

Those of you who are not using your weekly points and are not losing - have you thought of using the points and seeing if that makes a difference? You may not be eating enough and your body could be going into famine mode and retaining that weight you want to lose.

CiderwithBuda · 24/02/2012 17:42

Thinking about it - the plan is based on you having your daily points PLUS the weekly points. In old WW you could save up daily points to have at the weekend or whatever. This is the same but the amount of points you can save is now tallied separately and you can use in one major blowout, over weekend or divided out over the week.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 24/02/2012 19:46

I eat all my weeklies and any activity points without fail and still usually go over a bit and I've still been losing weight gradually. I usually spread the points out through the week a bit, though not necessarily totally evenly.

I do have occasional particularly "bad" days too, but haven't found they are necessarily a problem, in fact sometimes I wonder if they actually help matters as long as I don't have too many like that.

Just been to the doctor's and got some different antibiotics, so hopefully I will finally be able to shake off my bad chest and get back to exercising again soon!

ObviouslyOblivious · 24/02/2012 20:01

I use most of my weeklies, usually spread over the seven days. I do worry about people who are using less than their daily points.

MrJelly · 24/02/2012 20:33

Obviously me too Hmm I assume the WW diet has been planned for weight-loss based on eating all your daily points plus your weekly ones otherwise your body thinks you are starving it and holds on to the fat/weight - so, conversely to what you expect, eating more leads to a greater weight loss.

Certainly on the diet I used to lose 3 stone after having DS2, you were given a calorie limit for the day and you had to eat all of those calories, plus any exercise calories you gained, otherwise it wouldn't work.

MrJelly · 24/02/2012 20:38

We calculate your daily ProPoints allowance and your weekly ProPoints allowance so that, when you use both, you'll create the energy deficit you need to lose weight over the week. If you eat to your allowance every day and also use your full budget every week, you?ll still be on the right side of the weight-loss equation. In other words, eat the full ?budget? of ProPoints values you?re given, and this will help you lose weight while still feeling satisfied.

However, sometimes you may decide to not use your weekly ProPoints allowance. And that's okay. Unlike your daily ProPoints allowance, using your weekly allowance is optional. If you feel satisfied by meeting your daily ProPoints allowance, it?s not mandatory to also use your weekly ProPoints allowance.

But remember: The flexibility that comes with using your weekly ProPoints allowance helps make the plan livable, and one you can stick with for the long-term. Never allowing yourself the freedom to indulge feels rigid and inflexible, and is not sustainable. So we recommend that you practice using your weekly ProPoints allowance so you learn the habit of treating yourself in a controlled way.

I have copied this from the WW website and, I admit I am wrong Grin You don't have to use your weekly points - they are optional.
