Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

Well, I'm having a filling and healthy day today, proper Quaker oat porridge made with water, jacket spud with beans for lunch and a massive omelette with vegetables and salad for tea, snacks in between will be fruit and a WW yoghurt Grin

Sounds like a plan just need to keep away from any chocolate Smile

mummc2 · 07/05/2012 14:41

Am considering re-joining ww this week havent been for 3/4 years and weight has crept upto 11st 6lbs at 5ft 4 so need to do something about it!!

Have any of you tried slimming world before and what benefits is there to ww over the previous??

CiderwithBuda · 08/05/2012 12:12

Hi. How is everyone. More to the point WHERE is everyone???

Mummc2 - I don't know much about SW I'm afraid. I tried it once but couldn't get my head around it.

Well I weighed in. Another 2.5 pounds off! Yay. Takes me to a total of 25.5 and I got my 10% key ring! Happy!

Debs75 · 08/05/2012 16:05

I made the curried butternut squash soup and it is as good as the shop bought so will definitely do that again. I also made ww banana bread and ww vegetable curry.

Tried scrambled eggs on toast and they did me til lunch, even with a long walk.
I've also decided to splash out on a points book and a recipe book. I dont often gerty on the computer to track so if I have a point book I can check before I eat and keep within my points.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 08/05/2012 22:08

Well done Buda, great results! You must be very pleased.

I am still around, but haven't posted much as I haven't had much to post...

Basically I am in a bit of a rut and lacking much motivation. I think it is a combination of things:

  • I have now got down from "look pregnant, heaviest I've ever been, really MUST do something" to around or below my "normal" weight for the last few years (apart from pregnancy, BFing etc). So although it would still be nice to keep going and finally lose the bit extra I was already carrying then, I've lost the sense of urgency.
  • I am also finding it takes more effort (and even less food!) to keep losing now I have lost almost a stone already. The WW weight graph has gone from a nice steady downward slope at the start, to a noticeably gentler slope, and finally bobbling about, nearly flat and with no particular downward trend at all...
  • Also I think I am just getting a bit bored with it all, and finding it hard to get the time for all that tracking and thinking about food... it's a pain trying to find things I can eat with the kids that are good for them but not too many points for me, and I feel like I can't do "normal" eating and still lose weight, but would have to restrict myself quite a lot.

It would be good to get down to my 10% target, but I am finding it hard to feel that bothered at the moment... need to either decide I'm happy where I am now, or get a big kick up the bum, I think!

CiderwithBuda · 08/05/2012 22:29

Thanks Mynameisinigo. Can I call you Inigo? I like that!

I sort of seewhat you are saying. I still have a long way to go so am still motivated. Sounds like you need to shake things up? But you need to figure out how motivated you are to do that.

BartletForAmerica · 09/05/2012 20:43

Missed my meeting last week as we were on holiday. I forgot about tracking but tried to make sensible choices while still enjoying good cooking and baking, so I was going to be pleased about staying the same over the last fortnight - and I've lost 4lb!

Our leader also mentioned that the WW app will be released for Android and Blackberry phones very soon too. About time, I think.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 10/05/2012 10:05

Inigo is fine Grin

Still dithering a bit here but will see how this week goes. I think a week or two with a decent loss would get me more motivated again! Also got my best "skinny-looking" outfit on today which feels good, it would be nice to lose that last bit so I can look slimmer in all my clothes not just these ones!

Well done Bartlet, 4lb loss on a holiday is really impressive! Any good advice? We are off in a few weeks and I have a nasty feeling I will gain weight those weeks due to eating out and stuff... though at least we might get some good exercise in, we're taking the bikes and there's a swimming pool too if I can get DH to watch the kids.

Is the WW app good? I am still using a very basic phone atm but am sometimes tempted by a more fancy one that can do all that stuff!

Debs75 · 10/05/2012 12:25

Well done on losing on holiday Bartlet and about time we got a ww app on the android. It would be soo much easier for me to track and check points out. I tried doing it throught he website but my phone was being stupid and wouldn't let me opent he browsers.

Anyway having a good week, the butternut squash soup for lunch is helping and Ihaven't had any major snack attacks in the afternoon. I haven't tracked as much as usual but I have been more careful so I'm hoping I'm not way out on my guesswork

CiderwithBuda · 10/05/2012 12:29

Wow Bartlett! Well done you. That is a great loss.

Debs75 · 11/05/2012 12:41

Damn kids messing with my scales, jumped on this morning and noticed a good weight loss. Jumped off and noticed they were set to just below zero. Reset them and I have stayed the same.

Am hoping the weather keeps giving us good spells of sun as I can finally get out and about and try to run. Am off now to log my weight and track some meals for next week

debs39 · 12/05/2012 22:27

Just marking my place...16wks and 4days since Joseph arrived into the world and time for me to get serious about stopping the weekly chocolate binge triggered by trying to eat too healthily ( a woman cannot survive! on steamed veg and cottage cheese alone when small child is latched to boooooobies up to 6 times a day ) I need to follow you guys on this thread to encourage me to eat healthily the healthy way!!

ilovesooty · 13/05/2012 14:08

Hello - can I join in please? I joined last Tuesday and have at least 5-7 stones to lose altogether. Great support thread here.

Debs75 · 13/05/2012 18:02

debs39 you need protein to stave off the chocolate. fish, chicken even boiled eggs will help.
I know how harsd it is when breastfeeding, dc4 is 21m and still feeding 4-5 times a day and I have days where I just want cakes and chocolate

CiderwithBuda · 14/05/2012 10:52

Hi all.

Ilovesooty - welcome!

Debs39 - welcome to you too!

I have had a bad few days. Don't feel as if I got going this week really. Too much wine on Friday night led to craving for toast on Saturday which in turn led to carb craving all day. Wasn't too bad yesterday but a long day gardening resulted in ordering pizza for dinner. Dreading tomorrow's weigh in. Oh well. Tomorrow is my birthday so I am planning on having a day off WW - DH will be away so planning fish and chips for dinner with wine and cake. Don't think I will be hitting my 2 lb target this week! Or next as I have to go to stay with MIL for a few days to attend her mother's funeral next Monday.

Life gets in the way sometimes!

ilovesooty · 14/05/2012 20:08

Thanks for the welcome Smile

I'm pleased to say that I've lost 7lbs in my first week.

eagerbeagle · 15/05/2012 11:12

Hi Debs. I started when DD was 8 weeks. Am bfing too. You get extra points for bfing otherwise i would not manage. I have lost 25lbs now although like Inego have lost my motivation now and have plateaued for about a month because not really focused. Am given self virtual kick up the bum as only 10lb from goal so hope I can make it to that.

Debs75 · 15/05/2012 13:47

Well done Ilovesooty that is a huge loss. I have about 5stone to lose as well which seems a huge amount when I am only losing 1lb a week but I know I will get there, some day

Rezolution · 15/05/2012 15:46

Sad Had a bad weigh in last night. 1lb on. Can't say I binged at all really though. N eed to get back to basics this week.

CiderwithBuda · 15/05/2012 16:53

Well done ilovesooty - that is a great loss!

Debs75 - I had 6 stone to lose when I started. Am almost a third of the way there now. I am tackling mine in small amounts. Small goals all along the way. It seems to be working for me so far. I usually give up because that big number seems too hard to achieve.

Hi Rezolution - wondered where you were hiding! Sorry about the gain. Frustrating. Fingers crossed for a good result next week.

Well I very surprisingly lost a pound! Very surprised! Am having a day off today but will be straight back onto it with added momentum from tomorrow.

ilovesooty · 15/05/2012 17:09

Thank you!

I'm sure you'll get a good result next week Rezolution

ilovesooty · 15/05/2012 17:10

And it's very reassuring to be among others with a lot to lose too.

Rezolution · 15/05/2012 18:53

Thanks Cider and Sooty. Yes, I am back on track today. Used 19 points so far. Last week I used my activity points as well as my 26 daily points and that never results in a loss for me.

flybynight · 15/05/2012 19:34

Hello. Mind if I chip in? I've been doing propoints for the last 3 weeks. Its been pretty steady - I've lost five pounds in total (aiming to lose a stone), but I have had a few big nights out lately which haven't helped. (Been great fun though). Does anyone else tend to put weight on when they exercise?

Anyway, thought I would mention, Mullerlight greekstyle yogurts. These are only two points each and taste like proper pudding. Especially the coconut one, mixed with strawberries and raspberries.

Rezolution · 16/05/2012 08:35

flybynight Yes, if I swim I get the munchies straight away and eat way over my points. I have to rearrange my points so that I have plenty left for after swim.
