Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

"Well, make the most of your first week. That is when you lose the most weight."

Sad Sad Sad

Rezolution · 01/05/2012 09:39

Flouncy Don't be sad! I have a lot of weeks where I lose nothing at all and then next week 2lbs. You need to stick at it even on the weeks when nothing happens. Your body can't read calendars so it just plods on. Sometimes I feel it is working a week behind! Eg I have a really good week and stick to 20 21 points and nothing happens and then the next week 2lbs drops off. Thanks

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 01/05/2012 09:43

But this was my first week Sad

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 01/05/2012 10:20

Don't get too down Flouncy. There are a lot of factors that have an effect, and some of them I think nobody really understands yet! Bear in mind your weight is going up and down a bit all the time, so what you're really looking for is an overall downward trend - which you can only see over a few weeks. Things like your monthly cycle can have a big effect too, I always expect to gain or at least not lose the week AF is due. I bet you will get a good loss next week if you keep going!

I have just got "back on the wagon" this week after some time off cos I kept getting ill, am feeling better at the moment so I have a bit more energy to think about what I eat and trying to exercise again. Just hope it lasts, I'm sick of getting ill all the time!

Actually I hardly put any weight back on during my weeks off, I think taking the pressure off for a bit helped and also I have got more conscious of how I eat, so I was probably still sticking to "good" habits at least part of the time although I wasn't tracking. 4 more lbs and I will be at my 10% goal, so I think a big effort is in order now!

CiderwithBuda · 02/05/2012 13:44

Well I weighed in yesterday and had lost 2 lbs. Happy with that. Total loss now 23 lbs and almost at my 10%.

Flouncy - this months WW magazine has a member who lost half a pound her first week and 3 the second week. So you may lose next week. A few suggestions - drink lots of water. Green tea is good for boosting your metabolism. Be more active. Think about WHAT you were eating as well as the points value. I find too much low fat stuff doesnt help me as there are too many fake sugars which can inhibit weight loss. Do you drink lots of diet drinks? Did you use all of your 50 points? What about the 49 weeklies?

Rezolution · 02/05/2012 15:35

Yay! Cider!
Flouncy don't give up! Keep hacking away at it.

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 02/05/2012 16:08

I do drink loads of Pepsi Max, always have - I've been trying to drink more water though. I don't drink any hot drinks. I did use all my points, all bar one day, and most of my weekly ones..

Thanks for the support, everyone!

CiderwithBuda · 02/05/2012 18:13

Can you ditch the pepsi max? Diet drinks can really inhibit weight loss.

I'm going to be a bit blunt here - hope you don't mind - tell me to sod off if you want - I won't mind much. 50 points is a lot. I know it is based on your current weight and the amount of calories you need but maybe you don't need the 49 weeklies as well? Maybe the 50 plus the 49 is too much for you to actually lose weight on. See how you do if you ditch the pepsi and don't have the 49 weeklies?

Thanks Rezolution! Well done to you too! I know you were stuck for a bit.

hellsbells76 · 02/05/2012 22:14

Evening all! WI for me today, nearly 2 lbs off. That first half-stone is tantalisingly in reach :)

Littlefish · 03/05/2012 09:34

Well it's weigh in day for me. Things are not looking good. In spite of having a large cyst removed last week (grapefruit sized), I seem to have out on weight this week - about 3lbs!

I'm putting it down to dramatically decreased movement levels, as I've been lying around a lot while my wounds heal, and the fact that my mother has been staying, and has been doing all the cooking. She's an amazing cook, but cooks in a different way from me, if you see what I mean. She uses more fat and sugar etc. Dh has put on about 4 or 5lbs this week too! She's going home tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to getting back to eating normally again.

I'll wait and see how tired I feel later before I make a decision about whether to go or not.

Littlefish Hope you are getting better. Maybe it is not a good time to weigh in! Rest up and lose a bit more for next week. How soon will you be able to walk a bit? That must make a difference. Lucky you have got your Mum! Thanks
Flouncy - Cider's advice is sound. 50 points plus the 49 is a lot. Cut back a bit and see the difference. Certainly don't use the 49 and try to cut back on the 50 as well. I can't lose if I use the 26 points as I've said before on this thread. If I use the 26 I just maintain week after week so I obviously don't use as many calories as some people at WW. That's all. Everybody and every BODY is different.Brew

CiderwithBuda · 03/05/2012 13:49

Hellsbells - well done!

Littlefish - I probably wouldn't go if I were you! Leave it till next week. Unless you know that leaving it till next week will mean you eat for England till then. Or maybe you are stronger than me! Grin

Wet and horrible here today. I want to go for a walk! Will be ironing instead.

Debs75 · 03/05/2012 15:30

Flouncy I have never lost weight on my first week of dieting whichever method I use. Look to next week and stay positive.

Does anyone know if I can use the Quidco offer agian for the next 3 months of weightwatchers online?

My first 3 months runs out later this month and Quidco have the offer again so I am wondering if I can cancel my subscription then buy it again through Quidco?

Debs75 · 04/05/2012 08:44

another 2lb offGrin. 1lb to get to my 5%.
Feeling a bit more inspired now as things seem to be working. I swapped my cereal bowl for a smaller one and I am goiong to buy a smaller dinner plate to stop me filling that up.
I could do with some different breakfast choices, muesli is nice but I fancy something more interesting

ojr1609 · 04/05/2012 10:29

hoops997 · 04/05/2012 11:56

Hello all,

Well 1st weigh in and I've lost 4 1/2 lbs Grin and I still had 5 of my weeklies left, my journey has well and truly begun.

Hope you're all tracking to within an inch of your lives!!

CiderwithBuda · 04/05/2012 14:43

Hi Debs - well done!

Breakfast ideas:

Egg and toast
Crumpet and a laughing cow light triangle
Bran flakes with milk and blueberries and fat free yoghurt
Two slices WW malted Danish bread lightly toasted, spread with little HP sauce and add some WW Grated cheese and pop under grill
Porridge with fruit
Weetabix
Fruit salad and yoghurt

Any good? Grin

Ojr1609 - welcome!

Hoops997 - well done!!

I am tracking! Am on such a mission at the moment. The guy who did the renovation of our house was here this morning and I hadnt seen him for about five or six weeks - he said he could see a difference in me which was a great boost. Then the girl at the Tonacise I go to said she could see my shape changing. Yay!

Rezolution · 04/05/2012 15:18

Hi all! Slowing down a bit today, as our cat passed away last night so I feel like comfort food. Still tracking today and managed a quick jog though I feel like curling up and moping with tea and biscuits.
Hoops and ojr hiya!

hoops997 · 04/05/2012 16:01

Today at the meeting, my leader said something about having filling and healthy days, does anyone have these and if so, are they any good?

hoops997 · 04/05/2012 16:02

Sorry about your cat, my cat got run over last year and it broke my heart Sad

Rezolution · 04/05/2012 16:05

hoops Our cat was quite old and had a peaceful end so it wasn't as bad as yours really. Filling and healthy are the ones with green background where the points are on the tracker (online tracking I presume)
You can have days where you don't count points at all as long as you stick to all filling and healthy foods. It means egg and bacon for breakfast and NO CARBS or very few. There is a button just above your favourites if you want to block out the other foods. hth

Emmlan · 04/05/2012 16:14

Hi
I started on tuesday. Bit mind boggling with all the points. I have made a leek, pot and bacon soup for dinner and having it with WW petit pains but have no idea the pp's of the soup. I would also really like a glass of rose wine tonight how many pp is that?
Hopefully I will be on here a lot asking random questions until I get my head around it all
Emma

Rezolution · 04/05/2012 16:17

I don't drink but I think wine is 3/4 points depending on the size of glass. There is a point counter in the book your leader gave you.

hoops997 · 04/05/2012 16:37

I have the little book and have changed the app on my iPhone, you can have crumpets for breakfast, sounds a lot like a SW green day Smile

Rezolution · 04/05/2012 17:39

Hoops That's right. I used to do SW about ten years ago.
