Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

Hi Hellsbells, I've just joined this week too. Was having a good week but just had a massive dinner - oops!
I like the sound of the spinach & corriander soup (especially as it is only 2 points!) - I'll give that a try.
What day are you weighing in?

hellsbells76 · 13/04/2012 22:44

Wednesdays - thought I'd give myself a couple of days to address any weekend damage! How about you? I've been a bit shocked to realise how bad my diet was before - my portion sizes were out of control and I got through a ridiculous amount of cheese each week, it's no wonder my weight's been creeping up and up. Nightshift chocolate cravings don't help either. Oh, and wine. Lovely wine. Got a few weekly points saved up, might treat myself to a couple of glasses tomorrow night...

DancingRoundTheKitchen · 14/04/2012 08:08

I'm going to weigh on a Friday, for the same reason as you!
Like you, my potion size has been terrible, I eat way too much cheese and I have a terrible habit of finishing off the dcs food!
Yesterday I had 50 points (massive dinner, sticky toffee pudding & wine!) but instead of thinking I've blown it and give up like I normally do I'm going to get back ojn it today.

CiderwithBuda · 14/04/2012 11:19

Hi everyone. Welcome Dancing and HellsBells.

That spinach and coriander soup sounds good and I have spinach and coriander in the fridge. Might make that for lunch.

I am being really good this week. On a mission! Very focused. Weigh in is Tuesday for me.

There were five creme eggs on my kitchen worktop yesterday and now there are none! I am the only one who likes them here so I gave them to my cleaner when she came yesterday. Very proud of myself!

I have been to Tonacise four days with a fast 20 min walk each way each time. And did lots of gardening yesterday. Enough to get a blister on my hand.

Have a good weekend everyone!

hellsbells76 · 14/04/2012 11:47

It's delicious - I put a bit of philly light in it too which made it nice and creamy (I like the way you can edit the recipes on the website, it didn't affect the points!) Congratulations on avoiding the creme eggs, I don't know if I could have been so strong! Although I did make the kids bacon butties for breakfast and managed to just have toast myself so maybe I'm improving. Need to get back into exercise myself, must dust off those Davina DVDs :)

Dancing I think you need the odd blowout or it would just get too much - like you said, just get back on it today. What else are the weeklies for? Oh and I love sticky toffee pudding. Mmm.

Enjoy your weekends!

Rezolution · 14/04/2012 13:36

Help! I am struggling to shift that last pound to get to goal weight at 11stone 4lbs. Scales seems to have stuck at 11stone 5lbs. Am keeping under 26 points (just) Am watching milk intake and trying not to overeat on fruit because it can be high in sugars. Swam this morning and will do a walk this afternoon. Any advice? Weigh in is on Monday evening so I need to do something before then.

CiderwithBuda · 14/04/2012 14:09

HellsBells - it was nice. Coriander was almost past use by date so wasn't overly tasty. Will add more next time. I love coriander. Adding Philly light a good idea to as I felt it needed something creamy adding.

Resolution - wow. Only one pound from goal!!! Drink lots of water. How long is your walk? Avoid carbs. Bad white ones that is. I would have porridge for breakfast. Veg soup or big salad for lunch with some lean protein. Healthy snack in afternoon. Lean protein and veg or salad for dinner. Lots of water and green tea to drink. And move around as much as you can. Might sound daft but moving uses more calories than sitting still obv. I am madly doing loops around the island unit in the kitchen and the dining table every time I go into the kitchen! Run up and down the stairs a few time too!

CiderwithBuda · 14/04/2012 14:09

Oh and GOOD LUCK!

CiderwithBuda · 14/04/2012 14:13

Dance! I've just had a mad bop in the kitchen on my own.

Grin
Rezolution · 14/04/2012 14:40

Thanks Cider I had lean ham with pineapple for lunch. Planning salad with small portion of tuna for dinner. Maybe a WW soup (2propoints) as a snack in between. Tonight with tv I will stick to banana and apple.
The walk was only half an hour today. Might jog later to use up a few cals.

Debs75 · 14/04/2012 15:51

ONly 1lb to go, is that your final goal weight and if so how much will you have lost?
I remember getting stuck around 11st7lb when I did WW 10 years ago, I just could not lose them last couple of pounds. Stupidly I gave up going and within 18m I had piled it all back on and more.

I found another chocolate egg last night and finished that offBlush I am definitely staying away from all chocolate now, I didn't miss it before easter so I don't need it now

Rezolution · 14/04/2012 16:14

Debs I think it is 15% of my original weight, that is what the leader said after I got to 10% anyway. I hope they don't move the goalposts and say I've got to get down below 11stone.
I was 13stone2lbs in October when I joined WW.
I'm afraid I'll put it all back on if I stop going tot he meetings. Blush
I saw in the paper that Jenny Murray lost 5stone with Dukan and has now put it all back on again. She has joined WW but is too embarrassed to go to the meetings.

CiderwithBuda · 14/04/2012 16:17

Have you tried any Filling and Heakthy days Rezolution? A lady at the meetings I go to was stuck and tried F&H days and it worked for her.

Rezolution · 14/04/2012 16:19

Yes Cider I did one day of filling and healthy and gave up. Might try it next week if I get desperate. The breakfast was tricky - ham and poached egg sort of thing gets a bit boring.

KKKKaty · 15/04/2012 08:25

Well, I did my week of using only daily and activity points (or almost - used about 6 weeklies in the end) and only lost one pound this week too. So I think if it doesn't make any difference, I will use some weeklies this week and see what happens. I did loads of exercise too. I am on a deadline with this weight loss and I'm going on holiday for a week soon so I was hoping to get a couple of extra pounds off before I went so it didn't matter if I stayed the same or even put one on that week. Oh well, at least I lost one!

Good luck with your last pound Rezolution!

CiderwithBuda · 15/04/2012 09:08

Well done on that loss KKKKaty. Stick at it. You may lose more next week.

Rezolution - have you got the green Filling and Healthy booklet from the meetings? Lots of ideas for breakfast in there.

Well due to DH building shelves that took much longer than planned yesterday (my help required so I was involved too) our planned healthy sausage and lentil casserole was replaced by Dominos pizza! I resisted the garlic bread and pepperoni pizza and ordered myself a personal size veg supreme with low fat mozzarella. Hopefully won't have done too much damage. Gardening day planned today. Not sure what I will do for dinner yet. DS has requested meatballs.

Rezolution · 15/04/2012 09:59

KKKaty Well done. Don't get disheartened now. Weight loss does go in fits and starts for me. Three weeks nothing off and then a good weight loss if I try just as hard.
Cider Thanks for that idea.Need to plough through a ton of paperwork to find the filling and healthy green booklet but I have just looked again online on my favourites there is a button where you can just have filling and healthy stuff only. Now realise that WW bread counts as filling and healthy so that might be useful at breakfast with an egg.
Now off to do my jog/walk and burn a few calories.

hellsbells76 · 15/04/2012 22:12

KKKaty - 1 pound is great, it's all going in the right direction and slow and steady is much better if you want to keep it off!

Is everyone really good about only weighing themselves once a week? I'm only in my first week and have been hopping on the scales every morning - mainly because I can't quite believe that it's doing anything as I really don't feel hungry at all! For the last three mornings there's been a good half-pound off each day and it gives me a great boost for the day and motivates me to keep going. I know this rapid loss is only because it's my first week and it'll settle down soon of course.

Rezolution · 17/04/2012 12:10

hellsbells Good luck at Weigh in today. Got to 11stone 4lbs at WI last night. Smile That is 15% of my start weight. Going for 11stone 2lbs next - that will be 2 stones off in total. But it will take a few weeks as it is very slow now.

CiderwithBuda · 17/04/2012 12:40

HellsBells - I weigh most days as it keeps me focused. However my scales are a bit unreliable so I take it with a pinch of salt!

Resolution - well done! 15% is fantastic.

I weighed today. Lost 1.5 pounds. Any loss is great obv but I have been really good so was hoping for more. Completely back to basics for me now this week. Have lost 20 pounds in total but still lots to go.

hellsbells76 · 17/04/2012 14:11

Well I might stop doing it now as I weighed this morning and I'd bloody put back on the half pound I'd apparently lost yesterday! Might be the weekend wine catching up with me. Official WI tomorrow and I should be at least a pound down from where I started last week so that's something, although was hoping for a bigger loss on my first week.

Congrats on your losses Rezolution and Cider!

BartletForAmerica · 17/04/2012 16:57

I've been lurking for a few weeks but will come out now!

HellsBells, I weigh myself every day, expecting it to fluctuate a bit, but then I add it to Endomondo so I can check that the general trend is downwards. I find I need more feedback throughout the week, rather than just once weekly.

I am just trying to lose a stone of baby weight. I've been doing online for a few months, but wasn't very motivated so the meetings have helped kickstart things again.

As for points, I don't make a particular effort to use or not use my activity or weekly points. I don't want this to be a diet but more about making healthy sustainable changes that gradually take and keep the weight off.

RaspberryLemonPavlova · 17/04/2012 22:38

Hi everyone.

I have just been to my 3rd meeting, I only lost .5 lb first week (gutted), then was away for Easter, had WI today and had lost 5.5 lb so am very happy.

Am trying not to think too hard about the 4.5 stone still to go, just the mini targets. 1lb will give me a silver 7 next week, 2lb would mean I had gone down to the next stone.

This will be my 3rd attempt at WW and am determined it will be my last.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 17/04/2012 22:57

Well I am temporarily giving up Sad I had hit a bit of a plateau anyway and now have got ill AGAIN (nasty ear infection this time Angry) so have to have another break from exercise, at least until I have got my energy/balance back, and I think my priority for now is to try and rebuild my immune system which seems to be a wibbling heap of jelly at the minute.

So I am trying to eat lots of fruit, veg, chicken soup and anything else I can think of that's good for me - which is healthy I suppose, but I think there will also have to be a fair bit of cheering myself up with chocolate until I get back to healthy again.

I promise to climb back on the wagon once I have stopped being the incredible walking lurgy from lurgyville though!

hellsbells76 · 18/04/2012 09:16

Welcome Bartlet! Glad I'm not the only one doing daily checks...I might try and get myself down to every other day this week though. good luck shifting that stone :)

Raspberry - 6lbs total then, fantastic! Did you keep tracking over Easter too?

MyNameIs - hope you feel better soon.

Did my first official WI today - 2.5lbs lost! So very happy and motivated to keep going.

Have a good day all.
