Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

Welcome Bartlet and Raspberry. Smile
Hellsbells - well done.
Mynameis InigoMontoya - hope you are feeling better soon. Ear infection is rotten and nasty thing to have Brew

RaspberryLemonPavlova · 18/04/2012 12:53

Thank you for the welcome. No, I didn't track, I didn't feel that comfortable with the new system and felt too difficult to manage staying with relatives but I did try very hard to mimimise the damage! I took cereal I knew I would eat so I didn't end up eating buttered toast for breakfast and sensible choices when we were out at various parties.

Debs75 · 18/04/2012 15:42

Well I just know I am going to do bad this week.
DD1 is 16 tomorrow so we are having burgers for tea with a cake. Then on Saturday she is having a few friends around for pizza and yet another cake. At least they are home made so I know what goes in them. I will opt for a tiny inch sized slice as well to reign in my hunger.
I have made lots of pepper, sweet potato and butternut squash soup so that will be my next few days meals.

Apart from that I have done well this week. I have had a few sneaky weigh ins and they are hovering above last weeks weight, damn chocolate. Thankfully now it isn't egg shaped I don't fancy it anymore.

Rezolution · 18/04/2012 15:44

Debs Don't give up, hang on in there. Congrats on the birthday btw.

BartletForAmerica · 18/04/2012 19:54

1lb off here to get my 5% sticker! Smile

Worksitoutwithapencil · 19/04/2012 14:09

Hi

I am thinking about joining weight watchers.

Just wondered if there are any advantanges to attending meetings rather then doing it online - trying to decide whether it is worth making the effort to attend a meeting, it can sometimes be difficult as I work long hours.

Would welcome any advice or opinions about meetings vs online

Thanks

BartletForAmerica · 19/04/2012 14:31

I have been doing it online, but decided to go to meetings to be that added incentive to be weighed by someone else. There is evidence that people who attend group meetings do lose more weight than those who don't too.

Rezolution · 19/04/2012 16:09

Hi, welcome. The meetings are ok but not essential. You might find it helps to go to meetings say once a month at first.
Bartlet Well done.

Debs75 · 20/04/2012 13:57

I lost 1lbGrin and I got a silver sevenGrin[grin[Grin
Finally that first little goal, just need another 4lb's to get to my 5% and then 3lb's to get to a stone.
I think I might do a meeting when I get to 5% to see if their weight tallies with my scales

hellsbells76 · 20/04/2012 21:49

Woohoo!Well done Debs - you can't have overindulged as much as you thought then!

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 22/04/2012 22:26

Hi all,

I'm rejoining WW tomorrow (last time I went was about ten years ago), I have about a billion stone to lose.

I'm scared...

CiderwithBuda · 23/04/2012 09:01

Hi all. I am still plodding along. Weigh in tomorrow. Hoping for 2lb off. Fingers crossed.

This stage is where I usually give up. I lose 1.5 stone, lose impetus and give up and regain plus an extra half a stone. Desperately want to get to 14 stone before our holiday in July and to do that I need to lose 2lbs a week every week till then. It will not be easy.

Flouncy - I have 2 billion to lose! Well it feels like it! Good luck.let us know how you get on.

Worksitoutwithapencil - I am finding the meetings really help but I know some people have had bad experiences at meetings that were unfriendly etc. Then one I go to is great.

Littlefish · 23/04/2012 11:04

Morning ladies. Sorry I haven't been around for ages.

Welcome to all the newbies - lovely to have you here.

I've had a bit of an odd time over the last 3 weeks. First Easter, and being away with friends wqhere I just about managed to stay on track. Since then, however, things have gone a bit pear shaped and by my scales, I've ended up about 4lbs above my last weigh in.

I'm not stressing about it though. I'm off to hospital today for a fairly nasty operation (do your pelvic floor exercises you lot, or you'll end up like me!), and I'll be off work for the next 8 weeks, so I suspect I've been comfort eating.

I've got to try really hard when I get home, to avoid snacking and comfort eating or I really will be in trouble.

For those newbies, I started WW in October 2010 and have now lost 5 stone 4 lbs. I've got about 2 stone to go.

Slow and steady is the way to go. Keep weighing and keep tracking.

Hi Littlefish. Nice to see you. Hope all goes well with your op and recovery. And well done on your loss so far. Inspiring. I want to get to 11 stone. Started at 17st 1.5 lbs. Desperate to get to 14st by 9 July but that might be a bit of an over ambitious target. 14st 7 might be more realistic. But I think I will keep aiming for 14 and anything lower than 14st 7 will be a bonus!

Can I ask how many dress sizes you have gone down?

Littlefish · 23/04/2012 14:22

Cider - I started at a size 24 - 26 and am now a size 16 (and occasionally a 14 on a good day Grin.

I started off at 19 stone 9 and am currently 14 stone 4 (ish).

It's lovely being in the '14s', but I can't wait to get down into the '13s' as it will mean that the end of weight loss is in sight, although the maintaining bit will last for the rest if my life.

OP posts:
CiderwithBuda · 23/04/2012 16:36

I dream of the 14s!! Can't remember last time I wore a 14. Well done!

Started at a 22-24 and am currently a 22. 20lbs off and haven't gone down a size yet really. A bit disappointing although I do feel much better. Lighter and tighter! Tomorrows job is to do a wardrobe sort out and I might try on a few 20s I have and see how that goes.

Must be a great feeling to have the end in sight.

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 23/04/2012 20:59

OK, well, I went, I weighed in at 24 stone exactly. Very tidy.

I get 50 points a day.

CiderwithBuda · 24/04/2012 09:03

Well done for going Flouncy.

I can imagine it feels very daunting at the moment? You can do it though. Does your leader seem nice and approachable? Ours is a bit mad as are some of the people who go so we always have a bit of a laugh.

Keep posting here too. Do you have much support at home? DH is ok here - too used to me starting and stopping various diets over the years to pay much attention until I refuse something and then he remembers!

CiderwithBuda · 24/04/2012 12:20

Well weighed in. Lost a pound. A bit disappointed to be honest. Hoped for 2.

I need to up my exercise. Going to get the Wii Fit up and running for days I can't go for a walk.

rushingrachel · 24/04/2012 12:54

Hello hello. I last posted 6 months ago. I was made redundant and it drove me to the Wine and everything went way off track. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise as loving being a SAHM and realising how stressed I was trying to manage the unmanageable job. But went back to my lovely meeting last week, weigh in today and lost 6.5 pounds. Really chuffed. Now I am 15 stone, so it's a drop in the ocean but at least it is a drop in the ocean!

Anyway Littlefish is still here, still counting and tracking and losing weight. What an inspiration you are.

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 24/04/2012 14:19

Thanks Cider

I'm doing the 'small goal' thing. Right now, my first target is 5% off, then to get down to a size 24 in clothes.

Leader seems friendly and nice but not particularly 'fun' - can't have it all I guess!

As for home, I am a single parent of DS 21 and DD 15, so support isn't really an issue - they won't mind what I do or don't do. They're verbally supportive though.

The main issue for me when on a 'diet' is that although I eat more food when dieting than when not (my usual diet being not huge amounts of food, but high sugar, high fat), food seems to be all I can think about even though I'm not hungry!

Littlefish · 24/04/2012 14:31

Flouncy - I completely empathise with your post. I reckon it took me 3- 4 weeks to stop craving the high fat and sugar foods. By then, I'd lost nearly a stone I think, which really helped to support my motivation.

Well I've had a really strange 24 hours. I ended up not having the surgery I was booked in for as the surgeon found a grapefruit sized cyst wrapped around my ovary which he removed, along with my ovary. It's been sent away for biopsy, but he feels fairly confident it's benign.

As a way of distracting myself, I'm going to ask him how much it weighed!!!!!! At least I should have a higher than normal weightless next week!

The other positive is that I'll be back on my feet much quicker. Grin

OP posts:
Debs75 · 24/04/2012 15:04

Littlefish when my friend had an ovarian cyst removed she lost about 1stone in 2 weeks. Her cyst was huge and weigh 6lb, the rest where from her giving up alcohol and losing her appetite.

Bought a new top yesterday and could easily fit into an 18 YAY. I usually buy a 20 then see how that fits but the 18 fitted great. I did contemplate buying a16 or even a 14 for my holiday in August but decided better not, done that before and ended up giving it all to charity. Am also finally buying new trainers on Friday so I can try the couch to 5k.

tryingtoescape · 25/04/2012 10:27

Hi there, may I join you, ladies? I have been going to WW since Nov/dec 2011, lost 8.5 pounds (slow because of severe difficulties at home and my head being a mess, hence hard to be all get up and go, marvellous etc) but totally plateaued now though have stopped drinking, am doing long bike rides and stick to points. I use some of the weeklies but not all. However, the non drinking has only been week and a half so far; does it take a while to kick in (in terms of weight loss?) I keep being told that when people gave up drinking the weight "fell off" - mine ain't!!!! I've got a stone and a half to go.

Littlefish, good luck with the cyst, I hope and I am sure that it's all going to be fine :)
