Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

Well I weighed in yesterday mid-sickness bug, 2 lbs off. Was really sick all day yesterday and still this morning so decided to weigh today as well (in the name of research!) and 2lbs off overnight! God bless the bug :o

I'm sure I won't lose anymore this week though, but was interesting to see :o

MadMadamMim · 19/03/2012 13:04

I made the mistake of weighing myself this morning (roast at mum's was followed by malt loaf, ham salad sandwiches and other bad bad things) I'm the same weight I was last tuesday. :( All that shred dvd, all that salad and I've lost nothing?! I feel really unmotivated now.

ObviouslyOblivious · 19/03/2012 13:07

Well MadMadam, please don't be unmotivated, you haven't gained and that's good! Be extra good today, exercise and WI tomorrow and move on.

FannyPriceless · 19/03/2012 13:53

A question for you lot, if I may.Smile

I am thinking of re-joining WW after a ten year break, as Something Must Be Done. There are no WW meetings near where I work (which is the only way I could attend) so it would have to be via the online membership.

Have people found this works? I am sceptical and it is a lot of money per month if I don't make it work. How does the motivation side of it work if you are on your own with only a computer to answer to?

Any help much appreciated.

ceebeegeebies · 19/03/2012 14:50

Fanny I do it online as I hate the group meetings! Yes you do have to be self-motivated and if you don't stick to it, no-one knows about it but yourself - however, if you want to lose weight, the scales aren't going to go down unless you do stick to it.

I tend to use the website as a tool for monitoring what I am eating (I could eat for England given half a chance Blush) and it is useful so that I can see what I should be eating and when I am over-eating.

However, I have only lost 3 lbs in about 5 weeks so I am probably not the best advocate of this Blush

Totally fell off the wagon this weekend but am back on again - I can see the difference (even if the scales aren't showing it) and that is motivating me to continue Smile

FannyPriceless · 19/03/2012 15:02

Thanks ceebee! Do you think the WW web service offers any more than just using the free FoodFocus site? Do they send you emails motivating you, or whatever?

Given my track record I fear I would be forever falling off the damn wagon unless there was someone standing there threatening me with a very sharp pitchfork!

I have just sent an email to WW asking if they would consider starting a meeting where I work - a university with 30,000 staff and students so probably a ready market for their services! I am really hoping they say yes, even though it is a total long shot.

Debs75 · 19/03/2012 15:02

Fanny I do it online as there was a Quidco offer where it ended up almost free. I know they do offers for a tenner a month which work out roughly half.I like being able to check online how much points I am eating and I do feel a bit bad if I go over my daily allowance. The biggest down, and upside is not having a room full of people watching you get weighed. YOU don't feel on display but you lose that little incentive to prove yourself infront of others.

I have been reallly good today and had a salad and tuna wrap for dinner and a fruit slad for afters. It is fish and chip night tonight so I am having to be really good to allow for that

FannyPriceless · 19/03/2012 15:09

Hi Debs!Grin Fancy seeing you here! Hope it's going well.

Lunch was green salad with felafel and olives. Dinner will be salmon fillet with broad beans, rocket and lemony baby potatoes. Will try to limit the potatoes!

ObviouslyOblivious · 19/03/2012 15:11

Fanny, I've lost over 3 stone using the online scheme, but the really useful tool is the WW app for the iPhone. I'd be lost without it. I think if you want to lose, you'll do it whether online or at a meeting. Good luck!

Debs75 · 19/03/2012 15:15

Hi Fanny didn't recognise the name. Everything is fine as long as them lbs keep dropping off

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 19/03/2012 15:48

Fanny I am also doing it online and via the Quidco offer and cashback. It is working for me, though I also liked the look of myfitnesspal which I think could be a good (free) alternative. There is no WAY I would ever be hassled going to the meetings, I have so little spare time as it is so I could NOT be arsed bothered trekking out to a hall somewhere just to stand on some scales! I would rather spend the time in the gym, actually earning myself some more food burning off some calories.

Like ceebee said, I find the food tracking good for seeing what I've been eating, which things are better/worse than I thought, identifying my personal pitfalls, seeing what is a suitable portion size etc.

Am glad to say my weight was quite a bit down again since yesterday, still slightly up on last week but much less than it seemed yesterday, phew! And I am feeling very motivated atm and been very good so far yesterday and today, so I'm hoping to lose the "blip" and a bit more by next Sunday. Fingers crossed!

madeindevon2 · 19/03/2012 15:57

Hellooo can I join????
Just about to start... Had baby 4 weeks ago. Plugged everything in the app and I'm on 40pp daily. Im 5ft3 and weigh 11st12 was under 10 stone Pre preg and that's what I'm aiming for... 9st12
Can't really exercise properly yet. Want to get back to running but need to wait til after post natal check. I used to shred too so will dig that out too when I get ok from doc.
Any top tips? Also b feeding so don't want to go hungry and affect baby...

GravityDefier · 20/03/2012 11:59

I just need a bit of a rant about myself.

I didn't have a good week at all and gained 400g :(

My birthday is coming up next week so that won't be good either (family going for high tea with sandwiches, cakes and scones and me and my friends going out for dinner).

And I had wanted to lose another 8 kilos till the end of May, that looks totally unrealistic now, I am just too slow and have too many bad weeks.

sparklesandwine · 20/03/2012 13:28

Weighed myself this morning and have lost 3lbs despite having a bit of a mad weekend!!

Just made a massive pot of no point soup too so I don't stray at lunch times

MadMadamMim · 20/03/2012 20:34

Welcome madeindevon!

Right, I have got over my major disappointment and have decided to change a couple of things...

Instead of saving all my points and having a bit of a blow out on weekends, I'm going to have little treats throughout the week instead.

I'm also going to start tracking my measurements. Even though the scales say I've barely lost, my trousers are really looking loose and I can feel a difference around my middle. Could there be truth to the "muscle weighs more than fat" legend???

sparklesandwine · 20/03/2012 20:46

Welcome Madeindevon2 Smile

MadMadamMim that's a really good idea to measure yourself as I guess you might not loose weight each week but your body shape will change through exercise won't it?! Hmm

I have walked into town today which I think is about a 3 mile round trip, will plan to do some form of exercise at least once more this week but not sure what...

FannyPriceless · 20/03/2012 21:37

Guess what? I heard back from Weight Watchers today and they are interested in starting a meeting where I work!Smile Get me!

sparklesandwine · 21/03/2012 08:16

Good Morning!

That's great news fannypriceless, well done! Smile

ObviouslyOblivious · 21/03/2012 09:47

Good morning! Had my first solid food today since Saturday. What a bug

CiderwithBuda · 21/03/2012 11:10

Morning all. Welcome to all new people!

Obv - sounds like a horrible bug. Keep it to yourself please!

I went to weigh yesterday and have lost 2.5 lbs. Happy obviously but was hoping for a bit more as I had been so good and had exercised. Oh well. I got my second 'silver 7' as have now lost a stone.

That's the good news. Bad news is that my sister came to stay yesterday with her fiancé and my niece and I ate and drank my entire points for the week last night! It will be hard for next few days but will try and stick to plan as much as possible.

Fannypriceless - great news! If the get lots of takers they should let you join for free!

Debs75 · 21/03/2012 14:59

Sparkles I am going to measure myself as well. I have had to put another hole in my belt! I really want to lose weight on my legs though, maybe then I can get them jeans in a size smaller and pull them over my thighs

Rezolution · 21/03/2012 15:30

Hi everybody! I had a disappointing weigh in on Monday. Have stuck at same weight for two weeks now Sad
Am still carrying on and have not bought any carbohydrate goodies as treats this week. I just tend to go over the top with them if I know they are in cupboard.
Have a good week all of you!

FayKnights · 21/03/2012 17:22

Hi all, hope it's ok to gate crash? I started a week ago today and am allowed 26PP a day, i love gadgets so am using the online tracker and have lost a couple of lbs so far. Have experienced a bit of nausea though, has anyone else had that? Is it my poor body going cold turkey due to lack of sugar and processed crap?!

mumofjust1 · 21/03/2012 18:48

Evening ladies Grin

After my spectacular 5lb gain last week, I have been very very good this week.

Stuck rigidly to my daily pp allowance and haven't touched my weeklies.

So, fingers crossed! Good luck to all who wi this evening Smile

MadMadamMim · 21/03/2012 19:38

Awesome news Fanny - hope they give you some commission!
Welcome Fay - no I've had no nausea... But maybe it is a bit of a sugar craving? If I eat loads of really bad sugary and naughty foods I have a bit of a sugar hangover the next day so maybe there's something in it....

Debs I reckon measuring is the way to go. I want to lose some on my legs as well, still doing the Shred every day and I'm hoping to take the kids on a bike ride this weekend as every little helps! I know my clothes are all looser and I look better, so I just don't get why it's not showing on the scales! Still, as a friend said to me yesterday - who cares what you weigh - it's dress size that counts!! Grin
