Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

Cider glad your mum is ok Smile

Quick takeaway question - if I was to have a chinese takeaway, what is the best option?? I am thinking that it would be chicken chow mein - is that right?? (Disclaimer, the DC were up at 4.30 this morning so am knackered and can't be bothered cooking a proper tea Wink)

ObviouslyOblivious · 11/03/2012 19:33

Sorry ceebee it may be too late, but I'd go for chow mein :)

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 11/03/2012 21:13

Hi all, and secret ((hug)) to Cider, glad your mum is better and panic over!

Well I reached my first goal this morning, so have finally earned my new boots Grin though I haven't worn them yet, as we were out in the garden which was a bit too muddy! Might have to get them on for work tomorrow.

My new goal is 10% of my starting weight, which I'm actually not that far from now so hope to get there in a month or less. I'll have to think of a new treat to incentivise me, it'll have to be something smaller this time though as it's a smaller goal (and I definitely can't afford new footwear every time, either!).

CiderwithBuda · 12/03/2012 09:32

Thanks for hugs and good wishes.

Well done on losses Obv and myNameis. Enjoy wearing your boots! At weigh in last week I was half a pound off my first stone. My treat will be either a facial or manicure or pedicure. My next goal will be my 10% too. Need to figure out what it is first!

I need to be super good today as weigh in is tomorrow and I desperately don't want to have gained. Going to make a pot of zero point soup to fill me up.

sparklesandwine · 12/03/2012 11:03

Hi

can i join? I'm also doing WW at home as I have all the stuff and the meetings near me aren't at good times for me

I want to loose 10lb to a stone....hopefully....

Deadsouls whats that app called? as I couldn't find one just called Points Plus, I found Points Calculater Plus which has a paw print on is that it?

GravityDefier · 12/03/2012 12:10

Cider, I am glad to hear your mum is better. I wouldn't worry about points for this week. Even if you have put a bit on, a stressful week like this doesn't need the added stress.

Hello Sparkles, I went to a few meetings but it didn't work out for me either (time and distance wise). I got everything I need here (calculator, starter pack, diary etc) and am doing it at home by myself. Sometimes I do wish I had the support groups offer but I am slowly getting there.

Weigh in tomorrow but with my dissertation due in this week and many many late nights, snacks and crying attacks that called for chocolate I am not sure it will be a good week for me. I have tried but been over my points a few times.

droves · 12/03/2012 12:47

gravity .... i feel your pain ...have just eaten a box of after eights.

Anyone know the propoints value of 300g of after eights ?

Blush
droves · 12/03/2012 12:53

found it ....35 points .

so that makes 47 points today ...feck ...im going to put on this week. Sad

CiderwithBuda · 12/03/2012 13:23

I know what you mean Gravity but I know I will be really fed up if I gain. I had such a good loss last week. I will be happy to have stayed the same as that will mean I have lost whatever I put on over the week.

Droves - ouch. Right - where are you in your WW week? Near weigh in? If not it's still rescuable. Drink lots of water. Stick to points every day but no extras. Try to get some exercise.

GravityDefier · 12/03/2012 14:11

I understand that Cider, just wanted to be supportive! I hope you stay the same but if you gain a pound or so you will manage to get it back off :)

Droves-35! Wow, I am sorry. That is a lot! Time to up your exercise

sparklesandwine · 12/03/2012 14:20

Thanks Gravity Smile

Do you just weigh yourself at home or does someone weigh you instead? A friend has offered to weigh me each week but I'm not sure..

MadMadamMim · 12/03/2012 17:18

Hi all

Cider - glad to hear your Mum is OK.

Droves - Ooh after eights. I can never eat just one either - definitely have to do some exercise.

After being really good all week, I blew it on Saturday. Pizza at Fire and Stone, followed by a waffle, and a glass of wine at lunch, AND then I had some cake at Cafe Nero in the afternoon. Blush I did the shred last night to make myself feel a bit better about it.

I hate it when I've had a really good week, and then at the weekend I go totally off the rails. It makes the rest of the week seem like such a waste of time. :(

CiderwithBuda · 12/03/2012 17:48

All support gratefully received Gravity!! Grin

MadMadam - one blowout is ok. My blowouts tend to be an entire weekend not just a day! So pick yourself up, dust yourself down and start all over again!

Don't be too disheartened. It's hard to be good all the time. Just don't use it as an excuse to throw the towel in completely.

MadMadamMim · 12/03/2012 19:14

Thanks Cider - I have definitely been back on it today - salad for lunch and a weightwatchers ready meal for tea with loads of frozen veg. Got enough points to have a couple of WW cakes this evening!

Why is it so much easier to stick to it at weekends though? It's almost like I eat loooads at weekends just as a reward for surviving the week!! Confused

MadMadamMim · 12/03/2012 19:14

*Duh, stick to it during the week obvs, rather than weekend!!!

mumofjust1 · 12/03/2012 19:49

Hope you don't mind me joining in here - I'm doing ww at meetings but don't interact with anyone there - they're a miserable lot!

I'm on 35 points a day and have loads to loose. I've got my first silver 7 - yaay! - so getting there slow but sure Grin

ceebeegeebies · 12/03/2012 19:54

Welcome to all the newbies Smile

Had my (belated) WI this morning and have somehow put 1lb on which I know is physically impossible Hmm I haven't stuck to it religilously this week but I have not eaten enough to put weight on. I have no idea what the hell is going on - particularly as I can tell in my clothes that I have lost weight - I am going to blame the scales!

Group meetings aren't for me either - tried them with SW and they were the most boring 90 minutes of my life. I turned up to get weighed, paid £5 so felt like I should stop to get my money's worth and then sat there each week wishing I had gone home Grin

ObviouslyOblivious · 12/03/2012 20:59

I've been stuck on the sofa with poorly DS today and have 15 daily points left! I am so so hungry and i've just been running so we're having Chinese (chow mein and salt and garlic squid) which I'm going to point as 25. I feel I deserve it :o

GravityDefier · 12/03/2012 22:28

Obviously, can I have them please? I just had a curry, the night before my weigh in. With no points to spare. University and dissertation writing is making me fat.

MadMadamMim · 13/03/2012 08:22

Gravity - Uni and dissertation writing makes everyone fat. The only thing that got me through my final major project was rose wine and giant chocolate buttons.

Well I WI today - and I've put on a pound Angry I was SO good for six days, had one naughty day and managed to put on a pound?! HOW?!

:(

Well, this is another week. Bring on the salad.

sparklesandwine · 13/03/2012 08:31

I already woke up hungry....not a good start

GravityDefier · 13/03/2012 11:28

Yes Mad, I just don't have time to cook at the moment and feel like I need so much chocolate to keep the energy up it's unreal! It's going to be handed in tomorrow (so another whole day and night of work ahead of me) and hopefully then I will be a bit better. Still got finals and course work but I hope I will have time to cook at least and maybe exercise once a week.

Sorry you put on weight Sad

Sparkles I just weigh at home. My scales gives me 100g units so I think that's precise enough for me. Sometimes the scales are a bit dodgy and change by 100grams or so but I tend to weigh three times and go with the highest number if there is a difference. usually there isn't.
I don't want anyone else to weigh me, but DP is asking almost every day how I am doing points wise and whether I am losing weight. That's definitely helping.

Weigh in today and despite being over my points every day and then having some pizza and last nights curry it appears I have lost a pound. How I am not sure.
Overall that brings me to 11.2 pounds. I would like to love two pounds this week.

droves · 13/03/2012 11:46

good tip about weighing 3 times ...thanks gravity Thanks

Has anyone tried the flax seed thing ?

I read somewhere if you eat a spoon of flaxseed /linseed and drink two glasses of water it swells up in your tummy and stops you feeling hungry .

OBVIOUSLY ...only if your near your point limit for the day , and it probably tastes rank , but flax seeds are supossed to be really good for you .

I think its 3 points a spoonfull ...need to check.

Debs75 · 13/03/2012 12:39

After 8 mints.YUM! Maybe not a full box thoughGrin

Droves I used to put it on my porridge in a morning then have a large glass of water with it. I didn't know it made you feel full though, well nothing makes me feel full. That's why I am doing WW.

MadMadamMim · 13/03/2012 12:49

Arf at 'nothing makes me feel full' Debs - I know exactly what you mean!!

Bumped into a WW leader at my work today (They've started hosting a new class) and asked her about my disappointing gain. She's suggested more variety (I do tend to eat the same things every day except for tea) and definitely keep the fruit to five portions a day.
