Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

Thanks Gravity I think i may invest in a calculator at the next meeting! Because it was free for the first meeting, I think when i pay for the monthly pass thingy next time i will get access to the esource website.

I did enjoy it, it was all really positive :) .. I would like to lose 3 stone.

I usually do my food shopping online, I have a feeling its going to take me a while from now on! I think my only downfall is not really having time or ability! to cook from scratch, it is something I have never done, and managing to fit in learning to cook as well as looking after my 8 week old ds is going to be tough! But I am determined, so any simple recipes anyone would like to share would be appreciated!

featherbag · 09/03/2012 12:05

Hi all, it only just occurred to me there's be a WW thread on here! I've just been for my second weigh-in, I lost 7lbs in week 1 and I've lost 6lbs this week, I'm ecstatic! I had 75lbs to lose in total, now 62. I got my 5% this week too, plus a couple! It's my DH's birthday this weekend, my mam has DS tonight so we're going for an italian. Anyone got any suggestions on not going overboard on PP values? I've looked at the WW site but it's all branded chain restaurants and we're just going to a small local one. I generally only eat half of the food on my plate as I've not got a huge appetite, so can usually safely take 1/3 of the pp value off.

featherbag · 09/03/2012 12:07

Tia I wholeheartedly recommend getting access to e-source, and using the app if you have an iPhone. My DH and I have cooked a different recipe from the WW site every night this week and they've been really lovely! If you don't have access yet but want some particular WW recipes give me a PM and I'll send you some.

WeightyKaty · 09/03/2012 12:40

Hi I've lost 1.8lbs this week which I am pleased with as it has been slow since I started.

However I do weigh myself during the week but the scales at the gym are much nicer than my home ones! I have tried weighing at Boots for the last 2 weeks and it has stayed the same at the same time as measuring me an inch short last week and 3 inches too short today - so I'm not trying that again! I know I should just stick to once set once a week but I can't help it!

btw my favourite discovery is frozen roasted veg from Waitrose - super yummy and great if you don't have the time in the morning as they only take 19 mins to cook.

Good luck to everyone!

MissWooWoo · 09/03/2012 13:02

anyone know anything about gold membership? my WW leader set my goal weight higher than I feel comfortable at - she said that once I'd reached goal weight I wouldn't have to pay but could still carry on losing weight if I wanted to. Great! except I heard her say something different to someone else at the weigh in this week, something about you don't have to pay so long as you are less than 5lbs over of under your goal weight. Is this true? in which case surely it's better for me to ask her to lower my goal weight as I'd like to get to another stone below that.

TiaDalma · 09/03/2012 13:51

Thanks featherbag Just had some tuna pasta for 8 points! I have found an online calculator that i can use to work out the points until next thurs :) ... Also just realised I have some recipes in the booklet I got that sound quite good, so I am going to give them a go. Thanks though, and well done for that amazing loss! I hope I'm that successful!

Debs75 · 09/03/2012 13:57

Hi can I join.

I started ww online 2 weeks ago and this week I lost 3lb.YAY
I did ww about 10 years ago and lost just over a stone, then put it all back on and more. I have 5 stone to lose to get to 'perfect' weight but I am happy with 4 stone to get down to 11 stone.
The first week I just ate pretty much as normal, stayed the same, but did actually try last week. Although a McDonalds Big Tasty was a very naughty treat, and one I won't be doing again as it came in at 30points! I may have worked it out wrong but I am sticking with 30 so I never have one again

Feebz · 09/03/2012 14:00

misswoowoo I was told that I had to stay within 5lbs of my gold weight but she never mentioned 5lb under it. I would double check next time and maybe ask her to lower your goal, or see how you get on as you get closer to it. My goal weight was on the high side but I left it because I'd had enough by the time I'd got there!

I lost 3lb this week, a good start I think and I feel motivated and focused which is good.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

MissWooWoo · 09/03/2012 14:12

thanks Feebz I'm only 8lbs away from goal weight so hoping to achieve that by end of month and feel like I'm on a roll (no pun intended) so want to carry on!

Littlefish · 09/03/2012 18:29

Bugger. I put on a pound. Grrrrrrrr. I now need to lose 7lbs in 6 weeks to meet my mini target.

ceebeegeebies · 09/03/2012 19:33

I heard that it has to be 5lb over or under your weight to get it free (to discourage people going to far the other way and becoming too skinny) and your goal weight has to be within the healthy BMI range. As I only doing WW online, not sure how that would work as you could easily lie about your weight to get it free - anyone know how this works??

(Btw, it is MrJelly - have namedchanged back to my usual posting name now Grin)

Had a reasonable week but can't weigh myself at the gym tomorrow as I would normally do as I am working overtime instead (money vs exercise Grin) so am going to have to wait until Monday morning for my weekly WI.

Littlefish · 09/03/2012 21:06

As far as I know, you can below your goal weight, as long as you remain within a healthy BMI, but no more then 5lbs above.

Hello there! Glad I found this thread as I was going to post about something to do with Propoints...I am on 26 propoints but I am finding that I am soooo hungry and never really feel satisfied. I keep going into the weekly 49 points...

Today I got to about 5pm and I'd had breakfast, snacks, lunch and I got all lightheaded and dizzy, like my blood sugar was low and then ended up blowing all my points out the water for today by having 2 slices of toast, chocolate etc, because I really did feel weak and dizzy. I just feel like I'm not getting enough food, everyday I get to 1pm and I've only 10 points left...

What can I have for a snack that isn't fruit, I don't want to end up eating too much fruit. It is only carbs that I find truly satisfying...

And re: 2 portions of good oils, how/when/what, how can you fit it in, what are the portions of these healthy oils and what are they???

Deadsouls · 09/03/2012 21:30

Oh and also I am still BFing twice a day, I don't know does that make a difference....was so cross with myself for having a blowout..

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 09/03/2012 21:39

Hi Deadsouls!

I've posted on here before that I adjusted my points up from 26 to 29 as I found 26 impossible to stick to, and apparently 29 used to be the minimum till recently so they will let you adjust it upwards if you feel you need to. Weightloss may be slightly slower but it's easier to stick to. Also, it's totally fine to use the weekly points, so you could spread them over the week if you need to. And you can get extra points by exercising, even if it's just walking to the shops. I absolutely rely on eating all my weekly and activity points, couldn't manage otherwise!

Re snacks, I think protein is good for filling you up so you could try WW yogurts (just 1 point) or babybel light (also 1 point), or warburtons small wholemeal loaf is 1 point for 1 slice (though 3 points for 2).

I had a good first half of the week but ended up at Mcdonalds yesterday (not planned!) and then on a night out with workmates, so am well over my weekly points now, oops! Could have been better today, too. But I hope it won't totally undo the good work earlier in the week... will find out on Sunday.

Deadsouls · 09/03/2012 21:52

Thanks MyNameis - I was thinking about adjusting the points to 29 as I really think 26 is too few for me, at least it is an extra snack...

Also I do do a lot of walking pushing my baby about, to the town and back, rushing around doing housework, school run etc so I would say i am fairly active....2 little ones keeping me busy...how do I know how many activity points I can get for say....walk to the town and back, walking briskly with buggy for 15/20 mins...??

ObviouslyOblivious · 09/03/2012 21:57

Deadsouls - do WW know you're still BFing? I am (2 to 4 times a day) and I'm on 33 points. Makes life easier :) and I've still lost 3 stone :o

MadMadamMim · 09/03/2012 22:17

Hey everybody - well I went to the pub. Had a cheeky glass of Banrock Light white before I went out (I don't recommend it, doesn't taste wine like enough to me!) and had four tia maria and diet cokes. May also have shared half a bag of dry roasted peanuts.

I've used 17 weekly points!! Shock I always feel soooo guilty when I do that, and like I can't possibly lose weight when I have been so bad...Even though it's the first of the points I've used all week, and mine restarts on Monday.

Do you think binge eating the weekly points means you don't lose as much?!!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 09/03/2012 22:35

Are you doing it online or meetings Deadsouls?

If you're doing it online, you can (should!) track all your exercise, including walking and it calculates how many points you earned for it so you can then have extra food. Click the activity tab at the top of the food tracker. 20 mins each way brisk walk would be at least 3 points I reckon from memory, possibly more... things like gardening are on there too, though not sure about housework but you could just track that by finding the closest thing listed. Not sure how the non-online version works though, but points should be same I guess.

Also I missed where you said about BFing, you should get lots of extra points for that!

Debs75 · 10/03/2012 08:11

I do WW online and I am still breastfeeding. I'm not sure if I get any extra points though. I am on 40 daily with 49 weekly points.

Did someone ask about snacks under 3 points? I get the Graze boxes and they do a healthy plan. The snacks in that are all 1 or 2 points, even the ones with chocolate in them.

Skinnybride2be · 10/03/2012 10:14

Hi all is it ok if I join in? I have read this whole thread and you are all so inspiring, makes me wnt to keep on track when I feel like falling off the wagon!
I am now

Skinnybride2be · 10/03/2012 10:17

Oops posted too early lol I'm on week 4 of ww and have lOst 6lb so far :) really pleased but I sts this week although it is my totm so hoping for a better loss next week.

Deadsouls · 10/03/2012 13:24

Hiya, I will def add some more points for Bfing, I'm not full time Bfing though, baby is 20 mths and eats food. Just BF a little in morning and evening.

I am not doing WW online or at meetings, as I went to a meeting and was really disappointed by it. I had an expectation that it would be a friendly place, where people would chat and be supportive. Perhaps discuss weight loss issues, (a bit like on here), but it wasn't like that at all. No one talked to me or said hello, I tried to engage in conversation. It was just like a conveyor belt, people coming in, taking a ticket getting weighed, then lining up to pay. The leader was nice but even she seemed really rushed and just gave a quick newcomers talk. I felt really overwhelmed by it....I did find out my points total though, which I will add to. It was quite a disheartening experience and that meeting was the only one that I could get to locally.

I found an app online for Android phone for £1, which is called Points Plus and it is exactly like WW. You can track all your points, weekly points, activity points, serach food database, it's got a points calculator, meal builder, you can manually add food items when you've worked them out with calculator, and also you can track weight loss with graphs...it's really good.

So I will start again on Monday I think with some more points like 33, so I don't get starving..!!

ObviouslyOblivious · 11/03/2012 10:08

2lbs off this week, would have been better I think but had two glasses of wine and some chocolate cake last night Blush.
I'm nearly at my initial goal (9st 7) but I've just adjusted it down to 9st and I'll see how I feel when I get there.

CiderwithBuda · 11/03/2012 10:33

Hi all. Back in uk after mad emergency trip to Dublin. My mum is much better. Funeral clothes not needed! It was that touch and go on Monday. Bleed caused by blood thinning meds. Scary stuff.

Anyway..... Food wise it's been crap. Ate and drank far too much. Didn't track as not sure numbers go that high. My weigh in is Tuesday so have two days to try and rectify the damage. Will be happy to have stayed the same.

Deadsouls - sorry your meeting experience wasn't good. The one I go to is great. Everyone is friendly and supportive. There is another one local to me that is not as friendly though so I think it can be luck of the draw. I would think it would be hard to do WW without going to meetings or doing online but at least you have this thread to ask questions. Are you using your weekly points? Make sure the foods you are eating are filling. Lean protein is good. Try and avoid sugar free stuff as the replacement sugars can lead to cravings. My secret weapon last week was bowls of fruit salad and a natural yoghurt poured on top. Had forgotten how much I enjoy that and it feels like a proper meal rather than a little snack. The leader at the meeting I go to recommends a crumpet as a snack with a little jam or a low fat cheese slice or triangle. She also recommends a boiled egg for breakfast as it fills you up. Omlettes are good too. One egg plus two egg whites and lots of chopped onion and peppers.
