Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

popel Thanks for that info. Will have another try tomorrow.
mrjelly Yes, I see what you mean. Everyone is different and WW is flexible so that it can cater for all types.
Have a good week everybody.

Vajazzler · 06/03/2012 22:25

Hope everyone is having a good week. I lost another 2lbs this week and got my 100lb star.
Feeling positive today and go pleased that i made the decision to join ww. Cant imagine how much more i would have gained if i hadnt.

CiderwithBuda · 06/03/2012 22:29

Hello! Weigh in today.

Drum roll please........

Lost 5 lbs! 5!!!

Very happy. Now at a grand total of 13 and a half.

Unfortunately my mum is really ill and i have come to Dublin so can't say what next few days will be like. Dad made dinner and bought lemon tarts for dessert. I did only have half of one.

Will stick to plan as much as possible.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 06/03/2012 22:48

Wow Cider that's great! Hope your mum is OK though, you must be worrying?

Vajazzler can't believe it, 100lb, bet you're feeling so chuffed!

I am to my surprise having a quite good week so far, partly I was determined to finally reach my goal after being close for several weeks but not quite there, but still not quite sure how I've managed it, I have hardly used any weekly points so far (though did use some exercise points from doing a lot of walking some days). Hope it pays off!

CiderwithBuda · 06/03/2012 23:03

Sorry Vajazzler - cross posted! Wow. Well done you. That is awe inspiring. 100 pounds. The health benefits must be amazing.

Thanks MyNameIs. Very worried. She has Parkinson's and severe dementia and has been in hospital since Xmas. Waiting for a place in a nursing home. Then suddenly had a massive vaginal bleed yesterday and went into shock. It was touch and go for a while but she stabilised today. Still very weak. Has had 3 units of blood. The doctors want to do an op under general anaesthetic to see what is going on but not sure she is strong enough. She is bleeding from womb and bladed. It's not sounding good.

Littlefish · 07/03/2012 08:09

Sounds like everyone is very motivated at the moment. That's great!

Vajazzler - you are an absolute star! 100lbs is a massive achievement. How are you going to celebrate? I think it's really important to Mark milestones along the way, so that we keep reminding ourselves how well we're doing. Our success is down to us and our tremendous will power so we should celebrate it. Grin

Congratulations to Budapest, but sorry to hear about your mum.

Inigo - keep going! It really will be worth it when you stand on the scales. (Princess Bride is one of my favourite films. Smile

Hi, would like to join this thread. I joined ww last Thursday and aiming to lose a stone and a half. Have done it before (many times!).

I have just looked at the C25K on the nhs website so might give that a try as I'm not really excercising at the moment.

I have given up alcohol for Lent which should help with the weight loss and change my habits as I always reach for the wine when sad/happy/stressed etc.

Will let you know how I get on after the weigh-in tomorrow night. I am a bit concerned about not using all my 49 weekly points after reading this thread. Normally I would save them for wine Blush but I have struggled with the 26 daily points, I've used 29 instead. Maybe when my stomach shrinks a bit I will drop to 26.

MissWooWoo · 07/03/2012 14:42

Finally bit the bullet and went for my first WW weigh in for 6 weeks. 2lbs down on last weigh in, not great but it's something.

WOW Vajazzler that is awesome!!!

Rezolution · 07/03/2012 15:13

Welcome Feebz
I have only managed to lose 0.5 lb this week so am determined to do something better next Monday at WI.
Have tried eating more since Monday - used a few of my weekly points on Monday evening and yesterday too.
Any way, does anyone know where I can buy WeightWatchers Custard?
I am really feeling cravings as I have not had custard since last October.
Found a good source of WW stuff at Poundland but no custard.

MadMadamMim · 07/03/2012 20:42

Hi all, can I join you please? This is my fifth week on WW online and so far I've lost four pounds, so its coming off, slowly, but coming off! It's costing me a small fortune in fruit but I'm not finding it too hard to stick to so far...

I am struggling with getting any activity points, need to get back into the habit of doing the Shred and some of my other fitness DVDs which are gathering dust on the shelf

hct123 · 07/03/2012 21:02

please can i have some tips from you sucessful ones??!!...im a newbie..and dont know even how to start...dieting that is..cant afford ww at the mo....
thanks folks xx

Littlefish · 07/03/2012 22:09

MadMadamMim - how much fruit are you eating? At my group, we were advised not to eat more then 5 portions a day or it may affect our weight loss.

Hct123 - start by writing down absolutely everything that you eat. Try and eat lean protein, lots of veg etc. Stop eating when you feel full.

OP posts:
MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 07/03/2012 23:13

hct123 - there's an offer on at the moment where you can do ww online for pretty much free for 3 months (just need to remember to cancel at the end if you can't afford to keep it going). Go via Quidco to get £30 cashback (though it can take a while to get it paid back, be warned) and there's a discount code to get around another £30 off, so it works out about £1 for the 3 months. That's what I'm doing!

ObviouslyOblivious · 08/03/2012 07:14

Rezo I'd just have normal custard but have less and take the points on the chin. I bet WW custard (if it exists) is pretty grim :o

ohdearwhatdoidonow · 08/03/2012 07:16

Marking my spot 1 week in 3 off

MadMadamMim · 08/03/2012 08:04

Littlefish - Hmm, I have two bananas for breakfast, a cheese salad for lunch, some grapes and carrot sticks and then some strawberries or blueberries in the evening. Essentially what I'm trying to do is replace all my unhealthy snacking choices with fruit. So if I'm having a bad day at work, I reach for the strawberries or an apple in the afternoon if you know what I mean!

Rezolution · 08/03/2012 10:29

obviously Yes, I think you are right. A tablespoon of custard powder is 2 points and then there is the milk to add in. Reckon I could have it as a once-a-week treat. With banana Smile not sticky toffee pud. (Sighs nostalgically - those were the days)

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 08/03/2012 11:13

Well a tablespoon of custard powder makes quite a lot of custard, and if you use skimmed milk that would hardly count - so a moderate portion would only be a point or two I reckon.

I was v chuffed yesterday cos I made an old recipe I had for a berry cake (actually more of a pudding really) and then pointed it up and found it works out at only 3 points for 1/4 of a pie dish shame I ate half, and it was lush so not bad at all for a treat! I suppose because so much of it is just fruit.

Rezolution · 08/03/2012 11:46

mynameisw Yes, your pie sounds great. One reason I don't do recipes is that I know I would just scoff the lot. I am better with stuff that is pointed up ready for me.

xmyboys · 08/03/2012 13:49

Well done everyone.
I am week 1
Early days but all good so far!
Grin

MadMadamMim · 09/03/2012 08:10

Hmm, weekend time which is normally when I lose all control and end up eating my body weight in bad foods Blush
I'm off to the pub tonight as the DSes are with their Dad for the weekend (woohoo!) My normal drink is a tia maria and diet coke... Anyone got any idea how many pro-points they would be??
Tomorrow off out for the day with a friend who's on Slimming World. We're going to the seaside so I will need monumental control to resist fish and chips!!

GravityDefier · 09/03/2012 10:32

I found this link with Tia Maria PPs, but I am obviously not sure whether that is true or not:

Link

When you google alcohol and WW it appears as if it depends on the strength of the alcohol.

Does everyone use two servings of oil as WW advises? I am struggling with that somehow. I am eating three meals a day (26PPs) and am leaving things like margarine out, fry my chicken without oil etc, simply because otherwise I would go over my points a lot. Is it really necessary/should I try a bit harder to get it in?

I am eating oily things, oily fish, sometimes a tiny bit of mayonnaise, meat and cold cuts... so it's not like my body is getting no fat.

MadMadamMim · 09/03/2012 10:38

Thanks Gravity - 2pp is good for me!! That means I can have at least four drinks Grin

I don't use the oil recommended guideline thingy I must admit... I use fry light for cooking with, but I've always used that anyway...

TiaDalma · 09/03/2012 10:39

Hi everyone,
Can I join in please? I went to my first meeting last night, so still trying to get my head round it :) ... one thing that the leader didn't explain is how to work out how many points are in food that isn't in the little purple pocket guide. If someone could explain how to do it, or where I can find that info it would be appreciated!

GravityDefier · 09/03/2012 10:57

Mad: That's good to know. I was told by a friend that oil could speed things up/make me ill if I am not getting healthy fats, but I don't see how I would include such quantities into my allowance. I always use fry light as well and am cooking for several people, so would have to use a lot of oil to get my tea spoon.

Tia, do you have access to the webpage? It's also always worth a look on google, often people post the right stuff somewhere (see my post above)

I bought myself the calculator and have to say it was a great investment. Don't have internet on my phone but I take the calculator out with me and do PPs in he store before buying anything.

Did you enjoy your first meeting? How much would you like to lose?
