Just thought I'd start a new thread before the old one filled up. Looking forward to seeing everyone on here before too long....

Thats a great target Littlefish! Im sure you'll make it in time if you continue your good work.
Well done popellouclai found wk5r3 really difficult!
Hattifattner and ObviouslyOblivious tut tut Grin must try harder!!

Rezolution · 02/03/2012 12:34

poppellouca I have (sort of) started the c25k scheme. Did the first one on Wednesday but my circuit only took 12 minutes. That is the loop around our estate and an easy circle to complete if you know what I mean.
Anyway, today was ok so next week I will start properly and call that Week one. Does it have to be 20 minutes?
Think I might go for another swim this afternoon as I am struggling to get another pound off before Monday night WI.

MrJelly · 03/03/2012 09:58

Am off to the gym in a mo - will do my WI there. Am not feeling too positive this morning as I don't 'feel' like I have lost any so any loss would be good today.

MrJelly · 03/03/2012 12:35

Yep, as expected, I stayed the same this week Sad I am only 3 weeks in so feel pretty crap about it but hey ho!

Funny thing is that I think I look like I have lost some so maybe it will show next week

Enjoy the weekend Smile

ObviouslyOblivious · 04/03/2012 07:29

WI this morning, 1lb off this week. I'm happy as felt I had a crap week, although I didn't go over my weeklies. I definitely have a pattern to my losses, one week not much off, the next week a large chunk off, and on, and on. So hopefully next week will be another big chunk!

MrJelly, are you finding WW easy or difficult? Is this the first week you've STS?

MrJelly · 04/03/2012 10:50

Obviously I am finding it ok to follow - I gain about 50 activity points each week as I go to the gym a lot so I can eat more than most people on it so staying within my points isn't that difficult. And, yes this is the first week I have stayed the same - 2lbs, 1lb and then STS.

However I lost 3 stone 3 years ago on Weight Loss Resources and from what I can remember, I think my weight loss was similar there - lost 2lb, STS, lost 1-2lb, STS - my graph looked like a set of steps Grin so maybe it is just the way my body works??

ObviouslyOblivious · 04/03/2012 11:14

Do you use all your activity points?

MrJelly · 04/03/2012 11:47

Most of them, yes - is that wrong??

ObviouslyOblivious · 04/03/2012 12:08

No I don't think so, but imagine your potential losses if you didn't!

MrJelly · 04/03/2012 13:03

I know but I get so hungry on the days I go to the gym that I need to eat them!! Am going for the 'slow and steady' approach Grin

CiderwithBuda · 04/03/2012 13:25

How are you eating your activity points? It seems like a lot to have on top of your daily and weeklies. If you are exercising a lot it will be lean protein that you need more of so if you make sure you up your intake of that you may find you don't need to use all the activity points.

CiderwithBuda · 04/03/2012 13:26

When I say "how" I mean what are you eating? In case it wasn't clear!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 04/03/2012 15:24

WI this morning for me too and I have lost, but only 3/4 lb this week so am still a whisker above my first goal [frustrated emoticon!]. Bit annoyed as I keep being nearly there - and in fact was below it for most of the week, but seem to have bounced up a bit again.

It's not totally surprising though as we did a lot of eating yesterday (party) and also AF has just arrived; so hopefully that means a bigger loss next week if I can keep motivated rather than getting annoyed and eating.

Well done OO, and don't give up MrJelly. Is the exercise a new thing or were you doing that much before? If it was new it might mean you have gained muscle this week which has cancelled out lost fat weight? Especially if you are looking slimmer.

footballmum · 04/03/2012 15:44

Hi folks. Does anyone know how many activity points you can earn doing a Shred session? Going to have a bash at it this week!

MrJelly · 04/03/2012 16:57

Cider I am generally spreading the activity points so not having a blowout once a week but just eating a bit more of healthy stuff (such as crumpets for a mid-morning snack) more often iyswim. I do have a 'treat' every day aswell - a cake/choc bar so I guess some of the points are being used for that. But I do eat a lot of lean protein in my meals so I am getting that.

This much exercise is not a new thing, no. I have been going to the gym 4-5 times a week for as long as I can remember which is not a good sign considering I am overweight Grin

Rezolution · 04/03/2012 17:17

Mr Jelly I do not use my weekly points or my activity points EVER. There have been times when I have gone to the max on my daily points (usually when I have been swimming)
Have lost 1stone 9lbs so far and think I have lost even on the weeks when I could not exercise at all so it may be that gym sessions are not helping iyswim

ObviouslyOblivious · 04/03/2012 17:33

This was discussed up thread. All dailies should be used. Don't diet on the diet! It's up to you how many weeklies and then activity points you use, but obviously if you use them weight loss will be slower than if you don't use any. I do worry when people don't use all their dailies.

Rezolution · 04/03/2012 17:45

Obviously Point taken, will be watching carefully from now onwards

ObviouslyOblivious · 04/03/2012 17:47

Sorry Rezolution, I just didn't want people to feel bad for using all their dailies!

MrJelly · 04/03/2012 18:33

Rezolution how long has it taken you to lose the weight out of interest?

Also, I am not going to stop exercising as I absolutely love it and get a real buzz from it - have been doing it for so long now, it is just part of my life (sad I know!)

I realise my weight loss might be slower by using my weekly/activity points but if I am going to keep on with this diet, I don't want to be starving all the time otherwise I will soon cave in and fall off the wagon - I think I would rather go slow and not really feel like I am on a diet iyswim.

Rezolution · 04/03/2012 19:41

Joined WW on 24th October last year. Has been hard work so far. Not getting any easier either.

Littlefish · 04/03/2012 20:50

MrJelly - I complely agree with your idea about going slowly and not feeling like you're on a diet. I'm losing weight at an average weight of 1lb per week. This means that I've lost 5 stone 2.5lbs in the last 18 months. By the time I get to my goal weight (2.5 stone to go, which I think will take about another year and a bit), I'm pretty sure that my eating habits will have been completely re-learned.

OP posts:
MrJelly · 04/03/2012 21:26

Rezolution ok, at a rough calculation you have lost just over 1lb a week on average - and you are not eating any of your weekly or activity points. I have lost 1lb a week on average eating the majority of my weekly and activity points - I appreciate it is whatever you feel comfortable with but I know which option I would rather take if the weight loss rate is very similar.

ObviouslyOblivious · 04/03/2012 22:30

I've just compared my measurements taken on the 6th November with those taken today. I've lost two inches off my arms, one off my thighs, three off my upper waist, five off my belly button and seven off my hips! Pretty happy with that :o

popelloucla · 05/03/2012 12:56

Rezolution I downloaded the podcasts from the NHS website. Each podcast is just over half an hour, including the warm up walk and the warm down walk.
For example, I've done Week 6 Run1 this morning, it breaks down as:
5 min warm up walk
5 min running
3 min walk
8 min running
3 min walk
5 min run
5 min warm down walk
So 34 minutes in total.
Some of the earlier ones were a bit shorter, I think some of the later ones will be a bit longer.
I go to the local Country Park and do a circuit round one of the lakes. According to my GPS tracker thing I run/walk for 2 and a bit miles. I run quite slow, so you probably need a least 2 miles to do the whole thing.
There is a long running thread on C25k, maybe ask on there how big a circuit people need on average.
