Anyone started slimming world this past week and want to be my weightloss buddy??

I started slimming world this past thursday (9th feb) im very overweight and was slightly horrified that i was the weight i was... i have two boys, 3 and 20months, and after second ds i lost loads of weight, starting at 19stone 3lbs i lost just under 4 stone and was feeling really good about myself, i then stopped going and had an awful year of ups and downs (something for another thread!) and piled it all back on.
Im mortified that i let it happen after working so hard to get it off!
This time round through im really determind to get the weight off, im getting married in August and i have bought a beautiful dress (monsoon) size 14 though so i NEED to start working towards it.

Some facts:
Age: 25 (26 in 3 weeks!)
Hight: 5ft 5"
Weight: 19stone 2lbs (sob)
Chest: 47"
waist: 43"
hips: 57"
Size: 20 (although im probably more, i just squeeze into my old clothes or don't do the buttons up!)

if there is anyone out there who is of a similar size and wants to have a friend who they can be really open, honest and support then i'm here!
It's so much easier when you have someone to talk to. i'm too embarrassed to tell my friends / family how big i am (although i know they can see it!) so i just hope im not alone in this! :)

I'm not doing slimming world but have 5st to lose - I've already lost about a st since I started in January.

I'm using MyFitnessPal and tracking what I eat accurately has really opened my eyes to what is in the food and drink I have. I've also found low carbs / high protein has made a huge difference as this is the first diet I've done where I've not been hungry.

Happy to chat / support. :)

daniwalkes · 12/02/2012 17:35

I use that too... So interesting to see what im eating in calories too! Have you got a target to get it off by?
Well done on the stone... Are you giving yourself a weigh in day?

I was doing a weigh in a day, but found that it was fluctuating so one day I was heavier then later I was lighter, so now I am just weighing once a week on a Saturday morning.

I would like to have lost 3 st by my holiday in August so I only look semi-dreadful on the beach and then the remaining 2 st by Christmas. That would be 5st in a year. I am not sure how doable that is though!

Its just keeping up the enthusiasm past the first few weeks. Thats when it usually goes a bit wrong! I do need to do some exercise as well, but I currently don't have sports wear that fits Blush so it will be me dusting off the Wii Fit.

daniwalkes · 13/02/2012 10:36

i know what you mean about the entusiasm dipping off... im terrible, i go all out in the first few weeks / month and then i just get bored so easily!
I used to do Zumba classes and they were so much fun as i went with a friend and it was great but now no one i know goes and i feel too insicure to go on my own! silly i know!
i took my 3 year old to a party on Sunday and they had a buffet table just for adults with some of the yummiest food i have ever seen, including chocolate tiffin slices and fresh baked brownies... i couldn't trust myself so i left!
i was proud of myself for doing that but my god was it hard and my poor DS was devistated! bad mum alert! :( just need to get a good weightloss this week to kick start things and i will fee so much better! :)

nenevomito · 13/02/2012 18:57

Same here. This is the longest I've actually stuck to a diet now. I'm finding that the low carb thing really does help loads as I'm not hungry and thats what normally kills me.

It will feel good if you can stick to it. Even better than a brownie!

daniwalkes · 16/02/2012 08:04

Like they say "nothing tastes as good as being slim feels" Im hoping to feel that!!!

Weigh in day this morning and Im terrified!! I joined curves gym yesterday and loved it so Im hoping that will help!!!
Will let you know how i get on!!!

3lbs... Not bad bit should have been more!!!

nenevomito · 16/02/2012 20:10

3lb is a good weight loss and you should be pleased. If it comes off slowly and steadily, it has a good chance of staying off.

I've had an off day today, but will get over it and move on tomorrow!

Icelollycraving · 16/02/2012 20:11

Hi,I joined sw two weeks ago. I did want a buddy too. Someone joined my thread but she didn't come back :o
I lost 3lbs week 1,3.5lbs week 2.

nenevomito · 16/02/2012 21:34

Hi Icelollycraving :)

Thats a really good loss! Well done. How are you feeling about the diet?

Icelollycraving · 16/02/2012 21:44

Thankyou!
I've done lots of diets (what overweight woman hasn't?) & I'm used to losing more tbh at the beginning of a diet. I was expecting my usual 5-8lbs off in the first week.
The diet is fairly easy to follow. I don't think it educates you on portion control etc but it's a bit of common sense though. I find it quite ok to incorporate the plan in to cooking.

nenevomito · 16/02/2012 21:53

I know that feeling. I've been on my diet since New Year and have lost a stone, but I know I would have lost more if I actually stuck to it a bit better, but refuse to beat myself up.

Usually when I break the diet once I give in completely. This time I am using MyFitnessPal to track everything and keep myself going. I had 5st to lose at the start and now have 4. I need to keep going!!

Icelollycraving · 16/02/2012 22:02

That's great! I have about 8 stone to lose. I am breaking it down into stone sized chunks,if I think about the total it's like losing a kylie sized person from my tum :o

nenevomito · 16/02/2012 22:35

Thats a very good way of looking at it. I have set myself an initial target of 2 st to get back to the weight I was when I went back to work. Then another stone to get back to the weight I was before I had DS and then the last 2st to actually be slim for the first time ever!!

Icelollycraving · 17/02/2012 06:07

Well my weight has yoyo'd over the last 10 years by about 3-4 stone. I was eating the best whilst pregnant. I only gained just under a stone & ds was 9.7. I obvs cut out soft cheese,pâté,shellfish, too much meat, alcohol, caffeine. I craved fruit & ice lollies so I was lucky there.
I was very poorly after having him with an infection so lost lots of weight. It's all gone back on. I knew I wanted to change when I found myself wearing my maternity things as they were so comfy. Not good! Then my mum had a heart bypass, she has many complications from being overweight. I don't want to end up like that.

daniwalkes · 17/02/2012 12:25

Hey lolly... Looks like were doing very similar then! When do you weigh in? I know 3lbs is good and in the right direction but with.how big i am i just assumed more would come off! oh well... I think your right about looking it slowly and steadily... More likely to stay off which is the most important. Just tucking into left over mushy pea curry... Yumm!!

Hi ladies, please can I join you?!
I've been pretty depressed past couple years and the weight has piled on. In January I decided to stop smoking, stop drinking full fat coke, eat healthily and exercise more. I quit smoking and cola first and towards the end of January started the others. I have started walking to and from work 4 days a week which is 2 miles a day and I have bought a WII fit as being a single mum I get no chance to go to the gym.
Here are a few stats.
Height: 5ft 10.5''
Start weight: 16 stone 4lb
Current weight: 15 stone 8lb
Target weight 11 stone 12lb or less!

Have been very good all week but went to the Harvester today for a half term treat. Had chicken instead of steak, jacket potato instead of chips, pepsi Max instead of regular Pepsi, had a salad but did have honey and mustard dressing. Finished with a Knickerbocker Glory but asked for a child's one to cut calories!

I have been weighing myself every morning on the WII fit as it ploits a graph but count my official weight as the one the Boots scales give me every Friday a.m!
Good luck to everyone. Looking forward to hearing your updates.

tiredmummyneedswineandsleep · 17/02/2012 18:33

p.s I had 3lb weightloss this week too. Have been so good all week eating mainly soup, scrambled egg no bread etc.. plus LOTS of WII fit time as week off work. I was hoping for more too but at least its a loss I guess. I want to go on holiday in August and not be covered up in the heat as I hate my body like I did last year.

nenevomito · 17/02/2012 18:36

Well I am feeling thoroughly depressed! I bought some new scales and weighed myself on them and according to the new set I've put on 3lb.

Grrr.

ledkr · 17/02/2012 18:41

Ill join you, have been trying to get 2 stone off since i had baby#5 12 months ago. I just cant stick to anything long or well enough to make a difference apart froma few pounds which go back on. I tried low carbs but it nearly killed me and i just cant afford it. Am going to get on with sw from Monday,i plan to plan my weeks menu so i can be prepared.I am utterly miserable at this weight .none of my lovely clothes fit me and i cannot dress like me at all. Feel horrible but just struggle with willpower,i keep telling myself its just 2 stone standing between me and being happy. To be fair though i dont lose weight easily.

nenevomito · 18/02/2012 22:18

I know that feeling ledkr. I gave up a bit last year and gave away a lot of lovely clothes as I'd not fit in to them for 4 years. I went on this diet when even my largest clothes were getting too small and the stone I've lost has meant I can at least fit into them again. My aim is to be able to shop easily on the highstreet again and not be limited to bloody Evans.

Anyway, after the crap of the weigh in yesterday, I weighed myself this morning and felt a bit better as I was back to what I thought I should weigh.

I've found myfitnesspal to be a huge help - real time tracking and being able to scan the barcodes of stuff to easily find out how many calories has made things so much easier to stick to. This is the longest I have managed to stick to any kind of diet!

Hello. Just wanted to say keep going. I joined Slimming World 5 months ago and reached my target last week of losing 4 stones! I can not tell you how good it feels! I would like to lose one more now so have readjusted my target for 5 stone.

I was a size 20/22 but bought a pair of size 14 spring jeans this week Grin. 4 stone seemed an impossible target 5 months ago and I have been that big for 10 years! I have had to work hard to stick to plan and excercise has made a big difference to my weight loss. I hired a personal trainer this week for an 8 week course to try and tone up and help shift the last bit.

I am never going to be skinny but I am no longer fat! I look how I am supposed to look and I can not wait to shop for clothes when the last stone is gone! I feel ALIVE at last as if I am living my life not watching everyone else live theirs. I went to a concert recently and danced my socks off, I never would have done that 6 months ago!

Good Luck to you all. Smile
