I started slimming world this past thursday (9th feb) im very overweight and was slightly horrified that i was the weight i was... i have two boys, 3 and 20months, and after second ds i lost loads of weight, starting at 19stone 3lbs i lost just under 4 stone and was feeling really good about myself, i then stopped going and had an awful year of ups and downs (something for another thread!) and piled it all back on.
Im mortified that i let it happen after working so hard to get it off!
This time round through im really determind to get the weight off, im getting married in August and i have bought a beautiful dress (monsoon) size 14 though so i NEED to start working towards it.

Some facts:
Age: 25 (26 in 3 weeks!)
Hight: 5ft 5"
Weight: 19stone 2lbs (sob)
Chest: 47"
waist: 43"
hips: 57"
Size: 20 (although im probably more, i just squeeze into my old clothes or don't do the buttons up!)

if there is anyone out there who is of a similar size and wants to have a friend who they can be really open, honest and support then i'm here!
It's so much easier when you have someone to talk to. i'm too embarrassed to tell my friends / family how big i am (although i know they can see it!) so i just hope im not alone in this! :)

Oooo could I possibly join? I started slimming world 2 weeks ago, so far I,ve lost 4lb.

I have 4st to lose altogether, a bit daunting really but hopefully do-able.

ledkr · 19/02/2012 19:38

well done new pup,i remember when i got to a 12 after my h left me,i was miserable but felt fantastic about the weight loss.It was a joy to dress.

Anyway,im a miserable 16 again now grrr.

Well ladies i spent ages last night trawling through my sw books and wrote my food plans for the week and then went shopping for qll the ingedients.
I am mostly eating weetabix for breakie pasta n sauce for lunch and a sw meal for dinner eg. gammon and sw chips or spagbol. I am still left enough syns for a snack at night. Im so determined.

daniwalkes · 19/02/2012 22:19

Newpup that's amazing. You must feel so goes. That we're your weightlosses like weekly? Just interesting to know!
Good luck ladies... Im feeling positive about this week.
I joined curves gym and been a couple of times a love it there... It'd just enough to get me started on the fitness side, they weigh and do inches monthly so I'll take it from them! So excited to start feeling good!!

Thanks dani and ledkr. I do feel good. In answer to your question dani, weekly weight loss varies alot! Most weeks I lose 1 1/2 lbs but every couple of weeks I'll drop 3 to 3 1/2 lbs and then those weeks the wrong time of the month I will stay the same or lose 1/2 lb.

Exercise makes the most difference to my weight loss but I try not to be disheartened on the weeks I work hard and only lose a 1lb! It evens out in the end.

I think the hardest part will noit be losing the weight as I have a firm goal but keeping it off afterwards. The temptations will still be there I have to learn to live with them. I never want to be fat again!

Just another person to say I am on SW, I joined in November, lost some then gained 5lbs over Christmas then lost again. Starting weight was 11st 2lbs, I am now 9st 12 so I have lost 1st 4lbs. My target is 9st 2lbs so I am getting close.

Clearly had Christmas not occurred it would have been better but I was bursting out of my clothes pre-Christmas and didn't want to feel bad about my eating.

I found meal planning is essential as then you know how many syns you can have that day rather than realising you have gone over on your syns when you cook your dinner and your dinner has 3 syns.

I have a 2 week rotation of evening meals, breakfast is always the same, special k, and lunch can be lots of different things.

I am on extra easy and the real change I made was to increase the veg portion on my plate and slightly reduce the potatoes, or rice.

Keep at it, don't write off the day or the week if you feel like a meal or snacking has been full of syns. Visualise yourself slimmer too. I let DH take photos of me in my underwear to spur me on, front, back and side shots. I found it helped as I avoided the mirror at all costs.

BerkshireMum · 20/02/2012 11:28

Can I join too? I started SW on 24th Jan and got my first half stone last week. I need to loose about 4 1/2 stone in total - sound similar to where newpup started.

I'm dong extra easy too. Not worrying about portion size but am strict about staying on plan (and have managed it apart from a pre-planned 2 days away). I try and keep my syncs to between 5 and 7 per day. I also allow myself one bottle of wine a week.

Don't have any scales at home and wii is consistently wrong so I only get weighed at SW now.

Have been overweight for a good 10 years. I'm 42 now and this is my way of fighting middle age!

newpup · 20/02/2012 12:15

Hello everyone. Just to add I have my 15 syns every day unless planning a night out and being careful the day before. My leader advised always having your syn allowance every day. I know some ladies only have 5-8 syns a day but I need my syns and it seems to be working!

Well done Fizzy and Berkshiremum!

ledkr · 20/02/2012 19:52

newpup what do you use your syns for?Today i had weetabix then pasta and sauce and salad and muller light and fruit then gammon egg sw chips mushrooms and beans,i think my only syns were 2.5 for the pasta n sauce, does that sound right? Could/should i have a small treat to use them up?

daniwalkes · 20/02/2012 21:42

Always have all the syns... I freeze chocolate. Curlywurlys are great frozen because they last ages and are 6 syns!!
I always have chocolate every day. When i cut it out i just crave it and end up have loads!!
Or use it on cheese or bread?

Hi everyone!
Can I join please?
These stories have come at the right time for me. Going for 2nd weigh-in tomorrow but need to sit on my hands tonight. Could clear the fridge out! I have 3 1/2 stone to lose.Lost 4lb last wk. I had the sw thai green curry tonight - 1 1/2 syns. My OH didnt believe it wasnt from a jar!
Any ideas for low syn or syn free savoury snacks at night?

slimminwoman · 20/02/2012 22:22

hi everybody i started sw online on the 15th of jan and have lost 12and half pounds, my family is like the sw family one brother has lost over 3 stone in 6 months another has lost 4 stone and my sister has 2 of! I dont want to be known as the fat one anymore, :( but i'm determined to reach my target which is 5 stone off hopefully by Christmas. just want to urge everyone to stick at it {if you believe you can achieve}.

newpup · 21/02/2012 11:34

Hi ledkr. I use syns on lighter than light mayo, cheese, sometimes a wholemeal roll , sometimes ingredients for a meal and a treat everyday eg. Snack-a-Jacks, a low fat mousse etc.

I just remember that our leader told us when we started that you should use your syns up and that people who use their syns up lose more weight faster! I have no idea how that works but in our group it does bear out. I suppose I felt that I need to be able to eat well for the rest of my life and syns will be a part of that! It does work for me.

Just weighed and set my new target. 11 lbs to go! I always have a take - away chinese tonight but I keep within my 15 syns! Keeps me going!

ledkr · 21/02/2012 18:18

Had a good day today but not working for the rest of the week and that is when i struggle.Im going to go out and about quite a bit to stay away from the biccy jar.

Hi, please can I join you all. I lost almost 2 stone on SW 2 years ago but a stone of it has slowly crept back on. Trousers etc getting tight again so decided at the weekend to get back on it. Am not going to class this time but am following it on my own so it will be good to share stories and support each other. My teenage ds is joining me as he put on quite a bit of weight comfort eating when his first love ended:(
He wants to loose at least a stone if not more but have told him to start with half a stone and go from there. Only on day 2 but all good here and excited to get back on the scales on Monday.
Keep at it everyone, it really does work. Xx

ledkr · 21/02/2012 19:36

Im glad we are all on around the same day.
If you google "syns in " it takes you to a sire called minmins which has a lot of the values. I couldnt find anything for pancakes though but there is a recipe for a sw one but i cant be arsed Grin I just wont bother,dh and dd will have some and i'll be a martyr.
I feel quite determined this time.I had a look through all my nice size 14's and cant wait to be able to wear them. I used to love dressing in the morning and was well known for my quirky dress sense but now i dress like a middle aged woman-which i am funnily enough Grin

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 21/02/2012 21:11

is there room for one more? i am doing slimming world extra easy, have been following since jan and have lost 6lb in 6 weeks (i did gain 4lbs and lose it again in that time) hence low loss.

I weigh in on a sat morning and would love to lose 2stone by the end of may and need some spurring on to stay on track if any of you are upto task?

Start weight - 14st 7lb
Current weight - 14st 1lb

Goal - 12st 7lb (to start with)

today i have been really bad and not been good at all (wont list the crap as list too long) but i have drawn a line under it and will start afresh tomorrow.

ledkr · 21/02/2012 21:29

madein those are similar weights and goals to mine.
I cant believe i just had a nice big spag bol and will lose weight, seems hard to believe.
Can I also point out that I cooked pancakes for the family and ate none,i had some pineapple and yogurt Envy
I should lose weight for that alone.

slimminwoman · 21/02/2012 22:09

Hi just to let you know rich tea really curb the night time cravings, I have four every night with a cup of tea {with milk from my healthy extra} I know theyre not exactly sweetie heaven but they only 2 syns per biscuit and if you added fat free cottage cheese for a savoury snack theyre still 2Smile also the sw lasagne is really tasty and completely syn free look at their website for ideasWink
