Anyone started slimming world this past week and want to be my weightloss buddy??

I started slimming world this past thursday (9th feb) im very overweight and was slightly horrified that i was the weight i was... i have two boys, 3 and 20months, and after second ds i lost loads of weight, starting at 19stone 3lbs i lost just under 4 stone and was feeling really good about myself, i then stopped going and had an awful year of ups and downs (something for another thread!) and piled it all back on.
Im mortified that i let it happen after working so hard to get it off!
This time round through im really determind to get the weight off, im getting married in August and i have bought a beautiful dress (monsoon) size 14 though so i NEED to start working towards it.

Some facts:
Age: 25 (26 in 3 weeks!)
Hight: 5ft 5"
Weight: 19stone 2lbs (sob)
Chest: 47"
waist: 43"
hips: 57"
Size: 20 (although im probably more, i just squeeze into my old clothes or don't do the buttons up!)

if there is anyone out there who is of a similar size and wants to have a friend who they can be really open, honest and support then i'm here!
It's so much easier when you have someone to talk to. i'm too embarrassed to tell my friends / family how big i am (although i know they can see it!) so i just hope im not alone in this! :)

made - are you drinking enough? apparently it's easy to mistake thirst for hunger.

risingfromtheashes · 06/03/2012 15:27

Hi, can I join you? Had planned to rejoin SW tonight but have decided against it; mainly due to the fact that I only lasted a month first time as I didn't find the leader in any way approachable, a friend who runs her own diet class (not SW) has offered to weigh me so have planned to follow SW plan but get weighed elsewhere.
So armed with couple of months supply of SW magazines and the book you get when you join I am going to have a serious go at shifting the fat; I hope ye don't mind if I tag along with you all on this thread?
Am getting weighed later this evening and will post my weight tomorrow, my initial aim will be to lose 10% of my body weight >

juicy274 · 07/03/2012 13:38

Can I join in?

I am joining SW tomorrow evening. I have done it once before and lost 2 and a half stone in about 3 months, however that was nearly 3 years ago and the weight has all crept back on. Like the OP, I am getting married in August so hoping that willl provide me with some inspiration!

I have a wheat intolerance so will be mainly be following red days. Will post my weigh in details tomorrow. Eek!

Chocolategirl3 · 07/03/2012 14:13

Biting the bullet and joining SW tonight. hopefully I can stick to it this time, wish me luck and send me some willpower xxx

Icelollycraving · 07/03/2012 17:44

Hi all!
So far my results have been ok
Week 1 3lbs
Week 2. 3.5lbs
Week 3 5lbs :)
Week 4. 0.5lbs no reason
Going tonight for week 5. I bought 6 up front so tonight is my last weigh in before I decide to stick with it or go to ww. I have followed it religiously, have around 8-10 syns a day averagely. If I lose 2lbs or more tonight I will continue but don't feel lighter this week if that makes sense. I don't want to plateau so soon as I have loads to go. I was expecting much more to begin with but I'm v happy to lose around 3per week. There is a girl there who has lost 7 stone since last April which is so amazing!
Wish me luck!!

Icelollycraving · 07/03/2012 19:51

Really pissed off. Half a pound again. £5 a week. Suggestions please!

Jakadaal · 07/03/2012 20:44

Hi Icelolly fab weightloss overall in the time you have been going Smile

Have you looked at your superfree food to make sure that it is one third of your plate as well as any other superfree foods during the day?

Have you looked at superspeed foods like melon and strawberries to boost your loss? Someone in my class swears by superspeed foods and seems to get good results

Which was your best week and can you duplicate it?

has your leader suggested you complete an SAS sheet to detail what you are eating, portion sizes etc? Our leader hands them to everyone who has maintained or is disappointed with their weight loss (that'll be me every week then Hmm

Just a couple of thoughts, hope they help!

Icelollycraving · 07/03/2012 22:11

Thanks,I posted sat at the group all disappointed Blush
She gave me an sas form,so will try that. Interestingly I have used my scales at home for the last few weeks (about a million x per day) so perhaps that is linked in some weird way.
Going to continue until I go away in a few weeks & will try hard. If no improvement I will try something else.
I think when I posted I could hear people saying how they'd lost 3lbs despite eating crap takeaways, drinking etc. I just felt like I should have lost more by now.
I do eat lots of super free & speed food. Think I might try the 12 speed soup to have at lunch. My best week tbh I did pretty much the same as I did this week, except I was eating loads of fish,so will do that again.
Thanks so much for your reply jakadaal, I was hoping for some support which is exactly what you gave!

Kellamity · 07/03/2012 22:13

2.5lb off this week and Slimmer of the Week too! Smile

Icelollycraving · 07/03/2012 22:15

Well done Kellamity!

carernotasaint · 08/03/2012 00:18

Yes thats fab Kellamity. well done.
Started at SW again last week. First weigh in tonight and 4 and a half pounds off in first week so feeling that thats a good start.

Icelollycraving · 08/03/2012 05:24

Well done,that's a good loss carer :)

brafullofcrumbs · 08/03/2012 13:56

Icelolly - sorry you're not getting what you want loss wise, are your lower losses to do with your periods? I have a much lower weight loss when I'm premenstrual (it's usually my first warning that my period is coming if I have a slow weight loss week!) otherwise lots of super free is the way to go, the more super free you eat the more you lose, it sounds a bit crazy but it works! also are you drinking enough? I know I sound like a broken record but keeping well hydrated seems to help speed up my weight loss too.

brafullofcrumbs · 08/03/2012 13:59

Whoops forgot to say well done to Kellamity and Carer too :) I also lost 2.5 lbs and got my 1.5 stone award. Half way there now

Icelollycraving · 08/03/2012 14:28

It isn't anything related to my periods at all. I am doing the sas sheets this week to see if I can pinpoint it. I drink lots, have my third of super free but going to be extra vigilant this week. Thanks for your reply. :)

morecoffeepleaseholdthecake · 08/03/2012 14:32

Hi daniwalkes, can I join? I joined sw on 23rd Feb and lost 3.5 lbs last week. Weigh in again tonight. Not feeling like I've lost Mich this week though?

carernotasaint · 08/03/2012 15:16

brafullofcrumbs thats fab, Well done. morecoffee rthats a good loss too.
Im going to carry on doing my best but i shall try not to expect too much next week as my period is due and i had such a good loss this week. i shall keep on doing my best though.

risingfromtheashes · 08/03/2012 15:20

Jackadall, can I ask question re the melon?? is that ordinary melon or watermelon?
Weighed in Tuesday evening, so my starting weight is 12st 11.5lb. As I said up above I am following SW plan but not going to group as just find leader uninspiring.
Can I ask what are sas sheets?

morecoffeepleaseholdthecake · 08/03/2012 23:05

Lost another 1.5 lbs tonight. Total loss 5 lbs in 2 weeks. Want another 2lbs next week (minimum) hopefully. Going to try out some of the recipes in the sw mag over next 7days I think.

Jakadaal · 08/03/2012 23:40

Rising have just double checked my SW book and it says that melon (all varieties) are classed as superspeed. I haven't got a copy of an SAS sheet at mo but I used them last time I was a member - they detail everything you eat each day so that you can check portion control etc. Will get one at my next class and describe it better then Smile

BillyBollyBandy · 09/03/2012 08:34

Hi could I join please?

I joined up again this week, lost 4 stone on sw a few years ago but 2 babies later I have put 2 of it back on.

Has anyone made the sin free hummus? Might try and do that tonight

morecoffeepleaseholdthecake · 09/03/2012 08:40

Ooo, sin free? Tell me more! I'm fairly new to sw, so picking up tips as I go (2 weeks into the diet so far)

Icelollycraving · 09/03/2012 09:01

rising the sas sheets are to define if you have a specific problem. It is a daily log. It has a list of your aims on one side eg eat more super free/prep food in advance/check syns before eating & your potential danger areas. These could be left overs/weekend/parties/under eating/constantly weighing yourself. On the other side you list everything you eat. It is like a checklist. You tick if it's a free food/syn/if measured or estimated/planned etc.

Jakadaal · 09/03/2012 10:35

Hi Billy I have a houmous recipe from an old SW recipe book but it isn't syn free so would love to know your syn free version. I am a grazer on an evening so that would be a perfect snack - it might help me keep my fingers out of the chocolate philadelphia Grin

BillyBollyBandy · 09/03/2012 18:01

You need

1 red pepper, deseeded and sliced
Fry Light
400g can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
20-50ml water
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tbsp lemon juice

Slice and roast the red pepper with fry light until soft
Put everything into a foodprocessor and whizz - add more water if needed

And that's it! Serve with crudites
