I started slimming world this past thursday (9th feb) im very overweight and was slightly horrified that i was the weight i was... i have two boys, 3 and 20months, and after second ds i lost loads of weight, starting at 19stone 3lbs i lost just under 4 stone and was feeling really good about myself, i then stopped going and had an awful year of ups and downs (something for another thread!) and piled it all back on.
Im mortified that i let it happen after working so hard to get it off!
This time round through im really determind to get the weight off, im getting married in August and i have bought a beautiful dress (monsoon) size 14 though so i NEED to start working towards it.

Some facts:
Age: 25 (26 in 3 weeks!)
Hight: 5ft 5"
Weight: 19stone 2lbs (sob)
Chest: 47"
waist: 43"
hips: 57"
Size: 20 (although im probably more, i just squeeze into my old clothes or don't do the buttons up!)

if there is anyone out there who is of a similar size and wants to have a friend who they can be really open, honest and support then i'm here!
It's so much easier when you have someone to talk to. i'm too embarrassed to tell my friends / family how big i am (although i know they can see it!) so i just hope im not alone in this! :)

I also do it from home.I got the giggles in class especially as the leader was huge Hmm I cant hepl thinking of little britains marjory Dawes.
Ill check re yogs in a bit,i hate it when you cant find syn values.
Can anyone please clarify the pasta and sauce syns. Which ones are free? Minimins sometimes seems a bit out of date.

I started a thread about my lack of sucess. It would seem that im being too vague about the syns.EG a sprinkle of dried parmasen instead of measuring a tablespoon and just some gravy rather than measuring the amount.

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 26/02/2012 08:39

My SW leader was also overweight and i just thought really how can you be preaching to me about weight loss!

I buy the batchelors pasta and sauce chicken and mushroom, cheese and leek and tomato and these are free, i also add a bag of steam fresh veg (morrisons £1.50 ish x 4) to mine to make it tastier and bring them to work as easy to re-heat filling and i dont have to worr about counting the syns.

i also am a bit vauge with these measurments, do you have to measure out the gravy granuals or the amount you have?

ledkr · 26/02/2012 08:54

Aparently so. I cant imagine doing that when cooking for 5.

Thanks re the pasta tips. I will just get those cos they are the ones i like,i also use them for work as well as a bag of salad.
I cook mine at home though cos dont want to be hogging the office microwave for ages. They are't very nice really are they?Im sure we wouldnt eat them if we werent on sw Grin

Doing a roast today, ive got spray light roasters down to a fine art.I add garlic and rosemary its lush.
Do you know the stuffing syns?

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 26/02/2012 12:58

ooh never thought to do spary light roasties, might give them a bash now!

Pasta is rank but it does for work (i also make mine at home and re heat) and i usually have a yogurt and some fruit to snack too.

not sure on stuffing, what type is it meat or packet mix?

Jakadaal · 26/02/2012 13:17

Hi all could I join you all please ... am going to join SW tomorrow for the about the 50th time but hopefully this will be the last time Smile am really inspired by some of the messages on here and my goal is to be a size 14 currently 18/20 top 16/18 bottom. I have just given up, for good, my intermittent smoking habit so now need to tackle the weight. Holiday booked for 14 weeks time so here goes!

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 26/02/2012 13:23

packet stuffing is 2syns per 28g made up.

hi jakadaal your welcome to join and im a newbie too.

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 26/02/2012 13:50

ledkr i have just made garlic rosmary roasties but i used a tbl spoon of garlic olive oil as healthy extra b as not had any today, they small divine and i just pointed the gravy and its 2.5 syns for 142ml made up of bisto etc so not too bad, im now not however having the giant yorkshire my dh bought as its 14 syns! i dont think so.

ledkr · 26/02/2012 14:29

haha @ "pasta is rank" I cant believe im eating the vile stuff sometimes.
Im just boiling some new potatoes to make a salad for tomorrow as i have sadly run out of p in s
Ive just had my sw roast it was delicious.
Madein they do diet iron brew in Asda its really nice.

cambridgeferret · 26/02/2012 18:22

I've just joined too.

Can't get in any of the regular boiler suits at work...have to use the giant Tyvek ones and catching sight of a sideways view wearing one is motivation enough.

Today's been tough. Millionaire's shortbread for the kids, also made mash with cream and butter for veryone else (after taking my portion out) and boy was the temptation there. As well as the roast chicken skin which I'd normally wolf down.

Does anyone have any ideas for makiing Quark more palatable? I'm not exactly warming to it ATM.

ledkr · 26/02/2012 20:36

Ugh its yucky. Is panneer free cos thats lovley curried with spinach.Well done resisting.I have just failed and ate a cheese and onion roll Hmm i had the cheek to follow it up with a frozen curly wurly as if i was still sticking to it.

FriendofDorothy · 27/02/2012 07:56

Hello everyone. Please can I join? I am on SW too and have lost 1st 10.5 lbs over the last year. Doesn't sound too much but that also includes a couple of big holidays and a lot of faffing about moving house. I am now an online member as there is no SW group in Guernsey and I am missing having support form my group!

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 27/02/2012 14:25

Hi friendofdorothy the more the merrier i say and weel done on your loss so far.

Im just about to leave for work and struggling for lunch/breakfast ideas at the min as not going shopping again till thursday.

today i had porridge for bfast and an omlette for lunch and im having leftover chicken fried rice for dinner (taking to work) but im stumped for tomorrow, also Morrisons have muller light yogs on offer at the min £1.70 ish for 6.

Jakadaal · 27/02/2012 15:57

well have joined my new SW group today. Weight wasn't really a surprise but my measurements were - now realise I am completely round Blush consultant is very motivating and when I explained that I was going on holiday in 13 weeks time she just said 'oh well that will be 2 stone off by then'! Now need to go shopping and stock the cupboards. Am doing Extra Easy plan for time being so here goes!

QueenCess · 28/02/2012 12:19

Hi, I am following the old red plan. I have PCOS and now understand why carbs are such an issue for me. Before I was diagnosed I put on during green weeks as my body couldn't cope with the carbs.

I am finding it MUCH easier to stick to now in terms of cravings etc.

I am doing it on my own as I found the clubs lacking. I never saw any evidence of image therapy and hated the hand clapping business. I also know how disheartening it is when exercising and sticking rigourously to plan-to put on or stay the same. My weight goes up and down depending on my point of cycle so nowadays I don't weigh myself-it isn't an accurate reflection. I just judge how I'm doing by my clothes and how much more exercise I can do.

My aim is to drop two dress sizes from a 16 to a 12 by the summer.

Anyone got any good tips ref exercise D.V.D's? The Shred is too much as is that Hannah Waterman one. :) I'm looking for low impact aerobic exercise-none of this star jumps business.....

ledkr · 28/02/2012 15:11

Look on you tube,we did a fab Zumba the other day.

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 28/02/2012 16:13

Hi everyone, how are we doing this week? has anyone weighed in yet?

Im being uber strick since i got the books out the drawer and have been food logging in a little note book to keep track of the synns as when you eyeball it and guess like i was you tend to veer off course and eat too many extra syns.

Off for a run in wee while then fillet steak, new pots and pepper gravy for dinner nom nom...

think im also going to try these frozen curly wurlys as a treat so shall pick some up when i go shopping.

Kellamity · 28/02/2012 16:50

Anyone been using those Uncle Ben's rice pots? Apparently the syn value was mis calculated and they are now reasonably high in syns Sad

Jakadaal · 28/02/2012 17:02

Madein fillet steak sounds lovely. Smoked salmon risotto for me tonight. Just tried out chocolate philadelphia 4.5syns for 30g so just polished off a choc philly and banana sandwich - think this could be my life/diet saver!

Kellamity · 28/02/2012 17:05

I looked at chocolate philly the other day but couldn't quite get my head around it. Confused

lisad123 · 28/02/2012 17:29

Can I join you please? I was on another dirt thread but can't find it Blush
I have been going for 7 weeks now.
I have lost a whole stone in 7 weeks and so far have lost every week.
My weigh in day is Wednesday so all may change this week.
I have another 20lb to lose, and my friend has dropped out of sw this week, so I'm on my own!

lisad123 · 28/02/2012 17:31

Highly recommend the cook books, they are great for ideas for dinner.
Couldn't believe an uncle bens rice pack was 20 syns when I checked yesterday!

Jakadaal · 28/02/2012 17:58

hi lisad fab weight loss!

Kellamity I was a bit dubious at first but tastes just like a choc spread to me and couldn't taste any 'cheese' but I only use half a serving at a time as it could be quite rich - plus it makes the syns stretch a bit further Smile

brafullofcrumbs · 28/02/2012 22:38

I started at the beginning of the year but some online support would be great :)

starting weight 13 9
dress size 16 top / 18 bottom

current weight 12 3.5
dress size 14 top / 16 bottom

Got my club10 tonight, very pleased with myself :o

carernotasaint · 29/02/2012 00:11

Can i join you please. Im thinking of starting at SW again tomorrow.
i first went to class in 2002 and lost ten stone.
However i got my confidence and sex drive back which caused a problem as im in a sexless marriage. I had a long term affair and when it ended i comfort ate and put about 4 to 5 stone back on. DH also became disabled during this time.
Ive been back to SW a couple of times in the last 3 years lose a stone then get scared and stop going.
But its not doing my health any good staying like this and so i have to lose the weight for my health. IF anything happens like another affair or marriage crisis well Ill have to cross that bridge when i come to it.
Im 5 foot 5 and im rough guessing my weight at about 16 and half stone to 16 stone 12 roughly.
I would love to get down to about 12 stone (size 14 ) like i was before but also know i have to be realistic.

ledkr · 29/02/2012 12:24

Hi all.Ive been strict too,im making a sw chicken casserole tonight. I fell off the wagon Monday night after a massive row with dh i told him to stick his dinner up his arse and stomped off.Later on i came down feeling really hungry and ate a cheese and onion pastie and beans Shock Im ok now though, just a blip haha.
