Second thread

Loads of us doing really well and losing weight WELL DONE

Some of us, looking at no one in particular de motivated and struggling. I could start with the excuses but I'm not going to. What's done is done, I need to concentrate on the diet from now (and maybe even some exercise). Since I am in a confessional mood I will start this thread by saying that all I have eaten today is about 200g of chocolate. No lie, no exaggeration (I know I have eaten one 100g bar and some more). I really have a problem with food - have no willpower for moderation, it is all or nothing.

So, reasons to continue (these are mine, please add your own):

  • Psychologically I am going to get 'there' again - i.e. deciding to diet and really getting it. The reason I am not is because I am full of "what's the point" thoughts. I have done so badly in the last few days. But it doesn't MATTER - it's actually better to make the change now when I start to get horrified again in 3 weeks time.
  • I am doing it. I ahve lost 2.5 stone since last summer and 1.5 stone since Christmas! If I eat less, I lose weight. So doing it is not pointless and I will see results.
  • I am going to start having some health issues soon. I may have lost weight but I am still at a point where my weight is unhealthy.
  • I still cannot wear my s16 jeans. That's my first goal - by the end of this month.
  • I feel overall more happy and positive when I am logging calories. If I could ahve a day off without blowing it and losing ALL motivation to restart I'd be happy to do that every once in a while. But I can't, so I won't.

Right, off to log my 200g chocolate and think about lunch.

good luck re:job, 5.

Cother - it's like doing a marathon, this weight loss lark, just keep batting on, any long term sustainable change will take a while to achieve.

Stealth - a few years back, there was a lot of talk about how losing 10% of your total weight if you were overweight would make an appreciable difference.

StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2012 20:03

So at 16st a stone and a half or so.

you should be able to do that in 2 months though, if you put your mind to it, I remember from the earlier thread that you aren't just a 1 pound a week girl! someone once said something on the diet threads that, whilst a bit uninspiring, makes a lot of sense - that it takes months if not years to put the weight on, so it's not realistic to expect it to come off quickly, in a matter of a month or so.

LollipopViolet · 11/03/2012 10:27

Today is going to be day one of my food diary for personal trainer lady.

Doing well so far, haven't eaten anything yet! I too am struggling to get back to it. I'm shooting my film on Saturday, and am quite stressed with all the prep etc and just want to eat junk! :(

TheLightPassenger · 11/03/2012 11:06

Now LV. Have some breakfast. If you don't you'll eventually get hungrier till you cave into the the junk.

MABS · 11/03/2012 12:03

am actually feeling more motivated, no idea why tho! gym tomorrow i feel.

LollipopViolet · 11/03/2012 12:22

MABS, I've just got a motivation boost from MFP, looking at what weight lifting will do for my figure! Biiiig gym session tomorrow I think :)

Just had some lunch, ham and tomato sandwich on tiger bread - mmm :) Annoyingly, we have no apples in, so if I feel like a snack later, I'm stuck!

Wasn't actually feeling too hungry today, hence not eating breakfast. I must eat before I go to a) the gym and b) uni though, otherwise I get starving hungry by 10am... Hmm

MABS · 11/03/2012 14:48

I just had a lovely Sunday roast at a mate's house and dh cooking lasagne tonite!! dammit!

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 11/03/2012 15:02

Got my boots today hurray! I was more than a pound below my first target. Haven't actually put them on yet though Blush as we've been out in the garden getting muddy! Next mini-target is 10% of my starting weight, but I'm not that far off so hopefully should be able to get there in a month or so.

Good luck for the job five!

fivegomadindorset · 11/03/2012 15:13

LV you really do need to start eating breakfast, it makes such a difference.

MABS you have got your mojo back wll done.

Well done Inigo great news, enjoy wearing them. Are you going to choose something for your next target?

Todat has been spent sourcing bits for the garden and digging over a flower bed with the help of chickens, being a bit wary of their beaks. DH is power washing the garden furniture and courtyard which looks so much better. I am feeling the digging in my legs and stomach area so hopefully doing some good.

LollipopViolet · 11/03/2012 16:52

Bah humbug, have missed the rugby because I've been sat doing uni work. Have had a little bit of chocolate, but what I REALLY want is an apple, and we have none.

Roast lamb with lots of veg for me later :)

alessthandomesticgoddess · 12/03/2012 08:17

Hi everyone. Can I join? I am 5ft9in, currently 18st7lb and have lost 10lb through exercise in two weeks so far.

What are your cheap, big portion, low calorie meal choices? It's DP's birthday Wednesday and I was thinking of making him diet coke chicken since it's so taaty and only 50cals per serving. What else can I make?

FluffyWuffyCuntyKins · 12/03/2012 10:03

Hello Aless and well done on the new boots MyName. I lurve boots!

I've been wearing leggings the last couple of days and have had compliments on my legs so that's good. I haven't lost anymore weight but I seem to be toning up a bit. I think it's because i've been going out on my bike a lot and I gain muscle very quickly. I finally have shape that isn't formed by flab Smile

MABS · 12/03/2012 10:30

Well done Fluffy and welcome Aless :) did nothing at w/e ,not good, but pt tomorrow i promise...!

LollipopViolet · 12/03/2012 10:33

I'm sat in uni and am having breakfast - a bagel with peanut butter and a cup of tea. Lovely.

FluffyWuffyCuntyKins · 12/03/2012 17:34

Sorry - forgot to say I'm CotherMuckingFunt Blush

LollipopViolet · 12/03/2012 19:30

Went to the gym today - VERY pleased with my results!

I used to regularly do a set of exercises using a 20lb barbell, which may seem small, but that's my heaviest to date.

Anyway, last week I tried to do my old routine, and couldn't lift the bar, for some reason. I put it down to having a bad day and tried again today, and I could do it! 6-8 reps on each set, 2 sets per exercise, and it was HARD!

But, the best part is, I was also using an EZ bar (weird shaped barbell) with a 3lb plate on either end for curls. I learned from one of the trainers today that the EZ bar weighs about 20lbs, that takes my total on the EZ bar, for curls, to 26lbs! 6lbs heavier than I've EVER lifted for any exercise.

Add to that 25 minutes cardio, and I definitely earned my 10 minutes in the steam room after! :)

fivegomadindorset · 13/03/2012 07:03

Didn't get the job. Lost my appetite. Very down but losing weight.

MABS · 13/03/2012 08:34

aawww Five, sorry re job xx

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 13/03/2012 15:34

Hi & sorry about the job five... hope you have better luck next time.

I'm just plodding on.. been fairly good today and yesterday, though I was starting to get that feeling of "needing to eat something really naughty", like a proper big choccy bar instead of just having teeny mini-treats all the time! Trying to resist though or at least wait until I've got a few spare points.

Wore my new boots to work yesterday though and they are FAB! They look very funky and seem quite comfy too (I am still fighting with sore feet, so anything I can wear to work that doesn't make them worse is great!). I also noticed my legs looked relatively nice and slim in boots and tights, at least up to about knee level - above that still needs a bit of working on Grin but at least things are improving!

fivegomadindorset · 13/03/2012 18:53

Skived work this afternoon, I did have a headache and just wasn't in the mood, ham sandwich and vanilla ice cream for lunch and the dodgy afternoon film on channel 5. Because I am a casual employee I only get paid when I work, which means I haven't had a proper break for 2 years and I am knackered. Anyway, another day and another application done, this time for a different area of the prison I work in and full time.

fivegomadindorset · 13/03/2012 18:54

Well done on the boots Inigo

MABS · 14/03/2012 08:32

Tennis lesson, short 3k run and pt yesterday! body pump today, and feel more positive and mate told me yesterday my arms are looked toned :) pt tomorrow and then spin friday. Not trying to bore you but if i write it down i feel more accountable, make any sense??!

fivegomadindorset · 14/03/2012 18:28

Makes total sense.

Another pound off, so 10lbs in total. Slow but sure.

TheLightPassenger · 14/03/2012 18:56

mabs that sounds so much more impressive than my rosemary conley dvds Grin

sorry about the job 5, it's not a nice time at all
