Second thread

Loads of us doing really well and losing weight WELL DONE

Some of us, looking at no one in particular de motivated and struggling. I could start with the excuses but I'm not going to. What's done is done, I need to concentrate on the diet from now (and maybe even some exercise). Since I am in a confessional mood I will start this thread by saying that all I have eaten today is about 200g of chocolate. No lie, no exaggeration (I know I have eaten one 100g bar and some more). I really have a problem with food - have no willpower for moderation, it is all or nothing.

So, reasons to continue (these are mine, please add your own):

  • Psychologically I am going to get 'there' again - i.e. deciding to diet and really getting it. The reason I am not is because I am full of "what's the point" thoughts. I have done so badly in the last few days. But it doesn't MATTER - it's actually better to make the change now when I start to get horrified again in 3 weeks time.
  • I am doing it. I ahve lost 2.5 stone since last summer and 1.5 stone since Christmas! If I eat less, I lose weight. So doing it is not pointless and I will see results.
  • I am going to start having some health issues soon. I may have lost weight but I am still at a point where my weight is unhealthy.
  • I still cannot wear my s16 jeans. That's my first goal - by the end of this month.
  • I feel overall more happy and positive when I am logging calories. If I could ahve a day off without blowing it and losing ALL motivation to restart I'd be happy to do that every once in a while. But I can't, so I won't.

Right, off to log my 200g chocolate and think about lunch.

Ive not had too bad a time. I put on weight last weekend, but managed to lose it again fairly quickly so feeling pleased. Sat is my day off and sun is my weigh-in day so will see where I am tomorrow, but right now I am the same as I was last sat morning and I did have a bad sat, sun and mon last week so hopefully this coming week I can lose a bit more. I am determined to get below the 12 stone mark by the end of Feb. Ive only got 2lbs to go which isnt much, but as Im so crap at all this dieting lark and often give in to temptation I dont want to over exert myself. Though Im hoping to lose 1lb a week so I should say by half term.

Hope everyone else manages to keep going.

MABS · 04/02/2012 10:02

thanks all, lovely day with happy memories, not too boozy actually but way too much food i afraid. Today is dd birthday so big meal tonight dammit.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 04/02/2012 10:16

I am still feeling rubbish, so couldn't really give a stuff about weight at the moment Sad

Stupid ribs really hurt so I have to keep choosing between coughing (which is really painful but at least then I can breathe) and trying not to but then feeling like I can't breathe properly. Didn't sleep well either because it was too uncomfortable. I will go to the doc if it keeps on, but I'm fairly sure if I went now they would just say "you have a cough and a pulled muscle, we can't do anything about it, go away".

Not been properly well for 2 weeks now Sad

StealthPolarBear · 04/02/2012 10:18

:( MyNameIs, could you possibly have a chest infection?

OP posts:
MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 04/02/2012 10:34

I don't think I have, because although I had a temp at the beginning, I don't think I have had one this week. And if it was viral they wouldn't be able to do anything anyway. Colds often seem to go to my chest or lungs, have had pneumonia twice before and bronchitis several times but also just several nasty coughs that lasted for weeks, and this seems more like the latter. But if it's no better by Monday I will go to the doc's (don't think it's worth bothering out-of-hours with it unless I get worse).

Off for another Brew as at least that seems to help a bit...

StealthPolarBear · 04/02/2012 10:38

do you have loads of pillows in bed so you can sit up?

OP posts:
MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 04/02/2012 10:45

that's a good idea actually, might try that tonight if no better.

At least DH has taken the kids out, so I can slob around in pyjamas all morning get some rest. Though he is meant to be out all day tomorrow...

CotherMuckingFunt · 04/02/2012 12:02

MyName you have my full sympathies. Ds has had a chest infection for 4 weeks now and I've had one for nearly 2 weeks. I didn't got to the doc's for me for a week because I was convinced it was just viral but once my ribs started to hurt I went and sure enough, I had an infection in both lungs. Please go and get looked at. there are some nasty infections about atm.

And a ((hug)) and I hoep you're feeling better asap.x

lilibet · 04/02/2012 15:25

Happy Birthday to Mabs dd!

Cother - hope you're ok, i agree that a visit to the docs is probably the way to go.

Well, another week another pound off. I'm nothing if not consistent. 5 weeks, 5 pounds. Ho hum. I know its a bag of spuds that is no longer hanging round my ample arse, but it's bloody slow.

Dh has now lost 8lb in four weeks, I'm really pissed off pleased for him that it's coming off so easily.

I'm hungry Sad

lilibet · 04/02/2012 15:27

Sorry - wrong names - it's not Cother it's Mynameis Blush

Still hungry Sad

CotherMuckingFunt · 04/02/2012 19:25

Well I've made it to 633 kcals today. What to eat, what to eat.....?

I've never struggled with not eating enough before. Tis very odd.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 04/02/2012 21:32

Thanks for the sympathy, much appreciated. Am still feeling rubbish, and I now DO have a temperature again so am alternating paracetamol and ibuprofen, but the last dose is just wearing off so am sitting here shivering in huge jacket drinking lemsip. Off to bed after that, and I promise to go to the doc's in the morning if not feeling better.

At least it has nixed my appetite, so am below my points for once Confused

lilibet what's that saying about if it comes off slowly it stays off? Hold onto that thought! You are going down steadily so that's the main thing.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 05/02/2012 11:52

Well just back from OOH doc's with penicillin! So am looking forward to feeling better soon. DH has told me to go sit upstairs with the newspaper and he's outside making a (teeny weeny) snowman with the kids, bless him.

Also lost another 2lb this week, hurray so that means I have reached 5% weightloss goal - 8.5lb off altogether so far since early Jan, and only 2.5lb to go till I'm allowed to wear my new boots. So that's good news.

Hope everyone else is OK and any Sunday weighings go well!

DaisySteiner · 05/02/2012 13:17

Hello, just found you all again Smile Well done on the weight loss lilibet and Mynameis (hope you're feeling better soon.) Hope your dd had a nice birthday Mabs

I weighed myself on my friend's scales again on Thursday Grin and had lost another 1 1/2lbs, which is OK I guess - couldn't really expect as much as the 4 1/2lbs the previous week. I've since invested in my very own set of bathroom scales and am pleased to report I am up to a full 1/2 stone loss since I started just under 3 weeks ago! I'd like to lose another 1/2 stone (maybe a bit more to give me some wriggle room), so with a bit of luck it shouldn't take too much longer. Having said that the 99p breakfast I had at Ikea and the two big bits of toblerone I had yesterday may put the target slightly further off Grin

I'm sort of low-carbing in that I've cut down massively on white bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc and only have small amounts of wholegrain stuff now. Does anyone else find though that if they have a bit of a carb-fest (like I did last night with some wholemeal pizza and toblerone) that they feel ravenously hungry for the next day or two? Today is torture, I'm just trying to distract myself until it's time to go to bed Sad

Wolfiefan · 05/02/2012 14:47

So I couldn't wait! I have only been at this a week and a half and have lost 3 lb. Many more to go though!
Happy birthday to mabs' dd
Get well soon my name is..

StealthPolarBear · 05/02/2012 14:51

Hope you're better soon MyNameIs
Well done to people losing weight.
I am having weekend off, after only being back on it for a day. Still, managing not to binge so that's something.

momnipotent · 06/02/2012 08:04

I am down 2lb this week. I'm happy about that but , so, so far to go still.

StealthPolarBear · 06/02/2012 08:41

well done :)
Off to get weighed, I doubt I'll have lost anything but will be very happy to have maintained

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 06/02/2012 08:43

2lb on since 1st Feb
Right, back to it!

OP posts:
StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 06/02/2012 11:30

get back to it stealth you know you can do it. I have stuck at it apart from wine last night so wonder what the scales will say on wednesday. took a sneaky look on sat and I had lost another pound meaning I had hit my first stone off, yay! only another 3st 9lb to target Sad it is slow but it is working and fingers crossed that the wine hasn't had too big an effect.

StealthPolarBear · 06/02/2012 11:42

well done :) Hopefully the wine will have gone straight through you
I wasn't too bad this weekend, I managed to restrain myself somewhat, still ate chocolate and drank wne, but managed to not see day off dieting as an excuse to stuff myself stupid. I think if I could ahve done that in the first 32 years of my life, I might not be the size I am now Confused. Plus I was so exhausted last night I couldn't bring myself to make anything to eat, so had a cup a soup (DH offered but I actually thought it might be a good thing)

OP posts:
notveryinventive · 06/02/2012 11:51

Im doing rubbish ATM :( I just cant be bothered with it at all. Didnt do my shredding last night and havent been too good with my eating. On a positive note though with the snow and ice being about Im not likely to be driving anywhere soon so am wading through it all (which is much harder than walking normally) so that must do some good.

I weighed myself yesterday and maintained which was good considering Ive been so bad. I just have no motivation whatsoever ATM.

StealthPolarBear · 06/02/2012 11:51

Ah nvi this was me last week. Remind me how you're losing weight?

OP posts:
momnipotent · 06/02/2012 12:17

:( nvi. It is the hardest thing to do when the motivation is lacking. I don't know what to tell you really. When I find myself in that situation I usually eat all kinds of bad things, feel worse about myself, and go into a downward spiral until I can find some motivation again.

Do you have an upcoming event or special outfit you could use as motivation? I keep trying to remind myself how it felt being unable to go kayaking with my kids last year because I couldn't fit into the kayak. :( I don't want a repeat this year.

notveryinventive · 06/02/2012 12:24

Im just watching what Im eating and trying to lose 1 lb a week. Ive lost 2 lbs since Ive started a few weeks ago Blush I know I need to lose more, but I just cant seem to find the motivation. I dont want to be starting a downward spiral. I dont have anything to aim for event wise. I know I'll get there. Im not eating as much as I used to, I just have no motivation. The thing is Im not hugely overweight and not too big (12 stone and a size 14-16) I just need to lose a couple of stone and one and a bit dress size (Id like to be a 12). I think I would have more motivation if I was bigger. The last time I had real motivation was when my size 16's were getting a bit tight.

I will get back onto it at some point, I just cant be bothered right now.
