Second thread

Loads of us doing really well and losing weight WELL DONE

Some of us, looking at no one in particular de motivated and struggling. I could start with the excuses but I'm not going to. What's done is done, I need to concentrate on the diet from now (and maybe even some exercise). Since I am in a confessional mood I will start this thread by saying that all I have eaten today is about 200g of chocolate. No lie, no exaggeration (I know I have eaten one 100g bar and some more). I really have a problem with food - have no willpower for moderation, it is all or nothing.

So, reasons to continue (these are mine, please add your own):

  • Psychologically I am going to get 'there' again - i.e. deciding to diet and really getting it. The reason I am not is because I am full of "what's the point" thoughts. I have done so badly in the last few days. But it doesn't MATTER - it's actually better to make the change now when I start to get horrified again in 3 weeks time.
  • I am doing it. I ahve lost 2.5 stone since last summer and 1.5 stone since Christmas! If I eat less, I lose weight. So doing it is not pointless and I will see results.
  • I am going to start having some health issues soon. I may have lost weight but I am still at a point where my weight is unhealthy.
  • I still cannot wear my s16 jeans. That's my first goal - by the end of this month.
  • I feel overall more happy and positive when I am logging calories. If I could ahve a day off without blowing it and losing ALL motivation to restart I'd be happy to do that every once in a while. But I can't, so I won't.

Right, off to log my 200g chocolate and think about lunch.

However, I did get all brave this afternoon and took the kids swimming all on my little lonesome and no one sent out an alert for a beached whale so that was positive.

fivegomadindorset · 07/03/2012 18:53

Well done TLP.

Cother well done, very brave of you, I have yet to do that.

Another .5 off so 9lbs in total, very very slow off but at least it is going down.

And as I said above I have had to buy some new SMALLER trousers.

And a lovely lady I worked with brought chocolate roulade and baked reaspberry cheesecake into work today and I resisted as it was weigh in so I am going to treat myself tomorrow. Next weeks target between me and y friend is 3.5lbs which would mean we would have lost 2 stone in total between us.

LollipopViolet · 07/03/2012 20:11

Hi all, not been too bad this week, although haven't weighed in yet. Think I'll do it on Monday after my next gym visit. I braved the weights room, and I'm going back in tomorrow! :)

Rowgtfc72 · 08/03/2012 05:43

Well done tlp ! I've well and truly fell off the wagon. 14 bourbons after dinner and I thought, what the hell might as well have Chinese for tea( first takeaway in about seven months) DD was five yesterday and we bought loads of rubbish for tea esp pink wafers and mini swiss rolls (cant stand either so they're safe ! ) Have got up early, slapped myself round my head several times and now today is a new day,new start.I need to realise I've got a gorgeous girl who needs to learn good habits off me and as an older mum,'Im 40,She needs me to be around for a good while longer yet ! Have a good weekend people !

fivegomadindorset · 08/03/2012 07:07

Can nobody see my posts Hmm

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2012 07:51

I can five, what's up? Well done on resisting the roulade - are you planning a small slice today?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2012 07:52

sorry five, didnt come on this thread last night as too busy sorting out party bags for everyone in DS's class. And have put on 1lb finishing off the spare celebration [embarrassed} Well done re:the trousers, I have had a trouser moment, the size 18 joggers I bought are too big Nearly all my skirts are elasto waisted (need to be able to move comfortable as some of my work is manual)

TheLightPassenger · 08/03/2012 08:34

rowan - chinese is fine - personally I find it causes temp weight gain possibly due to the salt and additives. Just go for something sensible, like chicken/ginger, and go easy on the rice, a whole portion of rices is quite a few hundred cals.

MABS · 09/03/2012 08:44

Hi Five - so sorry, missed the smaller trousers bit...9lbs is great! well done! am not losing really but am toning a bit, pt ystdy huuuurtttt.

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2012 09:19

Poor you mabs glad you're seeing the benefits though.

I got weighed yesterday, and had lost 2lb. Which is fine except for some easing I'd thougt that had been my weight he week before so in my mind I hadn't lost!

Rowgtfc72 · 09/03/2012 15:58

Five, well done ! Its a good feeling isnt it !

TitaniaP · 09/03/2012 16:36

Can I join? Been doing SW for 7 weeks and have lost 1st 5lbs. I have a lot to lose (about another 5st I reckon). Some of the weight is left over from pregnancy (DS is just short of 9 months old) but a lot of it was there before! I'm a serial yo-yo dieter.

This week has been really hard. DS is teething and as grumpy as hell. The diet has lapsed in a big way. I need some motivation from somewhere. Anyone have any suggestions?

LollipopViolet · 09/03/2012 18:02

Diet not going too well here :(

However, I had my first PT session yesterday. Apparently, I have poor form when doing squats, and every muscle in my legs lacks flexibility. My bum muscles also lack it, apparently Hmm Also, apparently, my feet and knees turn outwards. It should've been picked up on, and corrected, as a child, but because it was left as "just me being me" my muscles have got used to doing it, and I actually have to think about where my feet/knees are when I'm doing exercises.

So, I got stretched, and shown how to do lunges and squats properly. I've got to have one more session to get my full programme, and I've been given a 4 day food diary to do (will do it next week, and book in for Thursday again I think), and then I'll be free.

It'll have cost me £60 all together, but it'll be worth it, because I won't be inadvertently setting myself up for an injury, and I'm getting bored now so need some inspiration/a new programme/some motivation. After next week, I'll probably see her every 6 weeks, depending on money/uni work.

fivegomadindorset · 09/03/2012 18:06

Well done Lolli, hope it gets you motivated again.

Hello titania I am also doing SW but not as well as you, just over a pund a week which I am happy with.

MABS toning is also good.

I don't like cream which is a bonus of sorts but someone bought chocolates into work today.

Waiting to hear back on Monday for a job, apparently they can't decide and need the weekend to think about it. Less travel, more money.

Sorry about the last post was feeling needy.

LollipopViolet · 09/03/2012 18:16

Thanks five :) I think motivation is the wrong word, I just need a refreshing change, I'm bored of endless cardio, want to do more weights. Although probably can't do that 'til my muscles un-tighten themselves... :(

Also need to stop having bad days food wise! As of tomorrow, I'm going to do my food diary for my PT, so I need to be good. Or not as bad as today, anyway!

TitaniaP · 09/03/2012 21:00

Five - I'm bfeeding DS and I'm certain that helps the weight loss along.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 09/03/2012 21:48

I am very impressed by your trousers five, and jealous too as I haven't had any obvious changes in my fitting-into-things ability yet!

I have done my usual trick of starting the week really well and losing some weight (was easily under my goal weight yesterday morning), but then going off track towards the end of the week.. ended up having Macdonalds last night and then several wines with work colleagues, and been a bit naughty today too. Will have to try and be extra-good tomorrow so I don't put it all back on again before WI (determined to finally get to my goal!).

I also need a big kick up the bum to start exercising again, anyone care to oblige? It's annoying cos I was starting to be really good with it before I got ill and had really made it a habit, but now it's been sooo long since I did any that it's like I'm a bit scared of starting again... also my sore feet have come back and my ribs still hurt sometimes, so I don't feel full of fitness and energy Sad But I really need to get going again, think it would make losing weight a lot easier as I feel a bit stuck in a rut at the moment.

StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2012 08:37

Me too stuck in a rut. I bought a shred dvd and haven't done it, just not had time. Work deadline this week, hoping things settle a bit after then as I need to prioritize some other stuff

OP posts:
TheLightPassenger · 10/03/2012 09:37

I've not had a good diet few days either, as been DS' bday and now a burst pipe so stress levels off the scale!

But motivationwise - we all know the score, those of us whose weight is getting unhealthy and/or have family histories where we need to be particularly careful. We can't afford to wait till the perfect, stress free time, or a time when we feel fit as a fiddle or fully ache free. But get going, even if it's just walking or a Rosemary Conley DVD, 1/2h per day, 5 days a week, even if we have to lock ourselves in a bedroom with the DVD player to get away from the kid(s).

TheLightPassenger · 10/03/2012 09:38

Have done the Shred a few times, it's scary! I would recommend Tae-bo (Billy Blanks) for a good balance between challenging, enjoyable and doable.

fivegomadindorset · 10/03/2012 09:40

oh no LP just what you didn't need.

I am waiting to hear back from a job interview. If I get it it means that I finish at about 5 each day and it is next door to a school gym so I may join and do half an hour 3 times a week, will still mean I am home before 6 each night.

CotherMuckingFunt · 10/03/2012 17:55

Hi people, I'm struggling to get my mind back in weight loss mode. I've stayed the same for a week now which is ok but I can't get back in 'that place'.

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 10/03/2012 19:30

I am impatiently waiting to see if I've finally reached my first goal weight tomorrow morning... was 1lb below yesterday morning, but been eating a bit worse the last couple of days so it could go up again. DH says I should eat a couple of kiwi fruits tonight Grin

Still haven't done any "proper" exercise, but we spent all afternoon doing full-on gardening (wrestling with massive ivy and holly bushes) so that must count for something!

StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2012 19:48

TLP good point. Every pound off is one pound healthier, and I am not an expert but I wouldn't be surprised to find every stone off your weight (when you're 10-20ish stones) makes a BIG difference to your health and probably life expectancy. Worth considering if you hvae a fair amount to lose.
five, good idea. Hope you get good news.
Cother , me too. I am "off" calorie couting at the moment, but not giong mad and tbh work is very busy at the moment (was working from 11-3am last nioght) so no time for counting cals. But I do still feel a sense of underlying motivation so hopefully it'll kick in again on Tuesday/Wednesday (deadline days)
MyName - fingers crossed for those boots!
