Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

arabella yes - first 10mins are tough for me! I felt good for 5, then tired for the last 10 in wk6r3.

Well done everyone - it really is inspiring coming on here and seeing all the progress. I'm sure I would not have dragged myself out last night but for the fact I don't want to be left behind!

Jnice · 25/02/2012 19:33

... Enjoy the meal, good to have worked up an appetite Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 25/02/2012 19:37

I'm the same arabellacaterpillar, often feel I'll never do it in the first few mins and then I settle in and I'm fine, glad it's not just me!! Have a nice meal :)

jchocchip · 25/02/2012 20:01

Yes cinamon, Monday should see us both at the finish line! I think I will try and go out early before work again. I'm working closer to home too, so as I don't have to get there until 10am,it may not have to be so early! I was a bit faster today, but think that was because I wasn't running through mud. Will run by the canal on Monday and try for a bit extra speed again :)

Enjoy your meal arabella :)

Hi everyone. Well I've been useless, and am stuck back at week six thanks to an array of illnesses. I have been shredding when I feel up to it so I'm hoping the strength training g in that may mean I'm not too far behind and will be able to just about pick up where I left off. Determined to get back into it this week. So disappointed in myself- should have been finishing this weekend Sad

Well done everyone!

cinnamongreyhound · 25/02/2012 20:18

Sorry you are :( cocoachannel, I had 5 days off when ill and was fed up but don't be disappointed in yourself you can't help being unwell. You will finish, doesn't matter than it's a bit later than you would have :)

dotty2 · 25/02/2012 21:42

Hey cocoa - don't feel bad, it's not a race and what's a few weeks difference in terms of building a habit to last you years? We're all bound to have set backs, and this time of year's a bugger for illness. Just think that you'll be all set for the summer when it comes.

Keep meaning to post that for me one of the really lovely things about running has been re-visiting the routes I used to walk with DD2 in the pushchair. For ages she would only nap when pushed and I used to take her out most days for a long push. (She's 4 now). Torn between feeling sad she's now so big, and pretty bloody impressed with myself as I would never have believed then that I could ever run that far!

FunnysInTheGarden · 25/02/2012 22:17

W6 R2 completed. Hard work again, am dreading W6 R3! Might have to slow my pace a bit to complete it. At the mo I am running aprox 2.5k in 20 mins. Think I might have to slow my pace to cope with the longer runs, then up it to get to 5K. Tis a long old road!

Jnice · 26/02/2012 01:15

cocoa I was in the same boat, sick on and off for nearly 3 weeks. Good thing was
I went back to the same point (wk6) and was able to carry on from there. Don't let it get you down.

dotty that's a nice story Smile

Jnice · 26/02/2012 01:17

funny I did the 25 min run yesterday, it is doable! I just tried not to think about the time and kept it very slow. For me it's more about keeping going for the time than the distance. Once I get to 30 mins I will start pushing the pace a little.

You can do it!

SilveryMoon · 26/02/2012 08:08

My friend is doing this and she loves it! She has lost loads of weight and I am feeling a bit inspired.
Can I join?
Not ready to start just yet, need to buy some decent running shoes etc first.

FunnysInTheGarden · 26/02/2012 09:33

thanks Jnice and well done for doing the 25 mins. Mind over matter I think!

oh and Silvery of course you can join in. I don't think I asked Blush. Once you get going you'll be fine

cece · 26/02/2012 12:11

I have downloaded this podcast for week 7. The Mission came on for the last part of the 25 min run and I found it perfect to inspire me to finish. Bizarely it is not the music listed above the link!

bigbadbarry · 26/02/2012 12:51

W2r3 done. No knee pain :). I went a bit faster and actually found that easier than trying to run slow.

RebeccaMumsnet · 26/02/2012 16:29

W8r3 done. 3 more runs until graduation!

I too find the first 5-10 mins the hardest and a few times I have felt like going home but have pushed though and tend to end up enjoying it ( most of the time)

I have been looking at the bridge to 10k today, anyone got it yet?

Envy of those finishing Monday, good luck and let us know how it goes!

Who else is thinking of bridge to 10?

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 26/02/2012 16:44

Well done all those out running this weekend and to those who are almost graduating.

Supposed to be doing W4R3 but still feeling full of cold so not sure if will go out yet.

weblette · 26/02/2012 17:43

I'll certainly be with you on Bridge to 10 Rebecca :)

cinnamongreyhound · 26/02/2012 17:51

I don't have the time to do bridge to 10k, 40 mins 3 times a week is a struggle to find at times!!

dotty2 · 26/02/2012 19:31

I think Bridge to 10k sounds too hard, but will see when I've got to an actual 5k. Four runs to go!

RebeccaMumsnet · 26/02/2012 20:06

Well i've only gone and done it now, booked and paid for the 10K

Weblette fancy doing a 10k in June? Grin only half joking

dotty2 · 26/02/2012 20:12

Rebecca - you brave woman. You might yet inspire me to join you...

rusmum · 26/02/2012 20:28

Week 4 run 4 Blush but first time completed all runs Grin yay!

RebeccaMumsnet · 26/02/2012 20:28

Do it, do it, do it...

Come on, who else... We can go for lunch after...

ObviouslyOblivious · 26/02/2012 21:00

Last run of week 3 done, loved it! Roll on week 4 :o

Jnice · 26/02/2012 21:03

So week 7 is the same as w6r3? I suppose we can work on pace a bit then?
