Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

Nosey, I have that one too, I do up the lower strap as I would normally and then twist it round, put my arms in and reach my hand behind and do up the top bit. (picture elbows pointing up into the air) Tricky but I can't do it up in the front (huge norkage) Blush

W5R1 due later and it's snowing here Shock

I'm actually excited about it.

Will post later when i'm done

RebeccaMumsnet · 31/01/2012 10:48

W5R1 done. My teachers at school were right 'Rebecca doesn't read the question properly'
I thought it was 3 mins then 5 mins etc, so I set off on my first 3 minute run only to find it was a 5 minute one! Blush

It's amazing what mind over matter can do.

Laura got me through it though, she's amazing. Good luck all and wrap up warm, it's cold out there!

RebeccaMumsnet · 01/02/2012 15:44

I'm doing it tomorrow, little bit worried but more concerned about Saturday, 20 mins Shock

RebeccaMumsnet · 03/02/2012 22:59

W5R2 done, got a bit behind this week but up to speed now, W5R3 due on Sunday.

I am still loving it - but not the cold. I feel so much fitter and am recovering so much faster.

Will post again when I get the 20 mins - congrats to all who are still going

RebeccaMumsnet · 05/02/2012 14:39

AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH, I DID IT! feels amazing - 20 whole minutes of running - who'd a thunk it?

To all those struggling - push through it. Really, I couldn't run for a minute at the start and the thought of going for a run was 'meh' but i love it now. I do have good runs and bad runs, this one (W5R3) was no exception.

I got to 10 minutes and felt fab, by 13 minutes I wanted so desperately to stop. My legs felt like lead and my knees were screaming at me but I pushed through and the last 3 minutes were great, not to mention the feeling when Laura says 'slow down'

I clocked 4.46 km today, furthest so far but a little way to go. Bring on next week - is week six dire?

RebeccaMumsnet · 05/02/2012 16:08

That's good to hear Jnice, thanks Thanks

RebeccaMumsnet · 07/02/2012 19:38

Well done everyone. Congrats on the 20 mins waving

W6R1 done today back in London, much more snow here so I found it a bit tricky but not hard at all.

Loking forward to the next run.

RebeccaMumsnet · 13/02/2012 21:54

Sorry I've been quiet of late. Just bobbing my head in to say I'm still going W6R3 smashed today. 25 minutes 4.8 km sooooo close! Grin
Didn't feel too bad but glad I did it first thing, much more motivation.

Good luck all, keep going- onto W7 Smile

RebeccaMumsnet · 17/02/2012 17:58

Congrats onehand

I am just back from W7R2 and found it ok after about 5 mins once I got into my stride.
Really windy here and it was blowing into me on the way home which was tough a d now my face is stinging Grin

I also noticed that my norks are bouncing about a bit more Blush but I think it's because I may have gorn down a bra size, whoop!

W7R3 on Sunday, anyone else pinching themselves that they are still going?

RebeccaMumsnet · 19/02/2012 19:19

Cinnamon that's amazing, well done.
Queen you can do it, keep going. I love your updates they keep me going! So, frankly, you can't stop Grin

Finished week 7 today, the first two runs were good, today's was awful. I managed to finish it but changed my route and ended up running down a long straight road ( great in theory ) but loads of dropped kerbs. My legs were screaming at me as it felt like running in a fun house Sad

Anyway, done now and back to London for week 8 aaarrrrgggghhh!

RebeccaMumsnet · 22/02/2012 18:53

Thanks onehand, I did W8R1 yesterday and including warm up and cool down finally hit the 5k. Whoop!
I ran on the heath and felt like a rl runner and everything ! Grin

How's everyone else getting on? The jump from 25 to 28 is nothing and I heart Laura even more.

RebeccaMumsnet · 23/02/2012 19:07

Have been forced into rest day two because of Too Much On My Plate syndrome

W8R2 tomorrow, can't blurdy wait but tonight I must sort my life out cook, clean, work, iron, wash, unpack, read stories, make lunch boxes and generally just breathe and maybe, if i'm lucky, i may get some sleep in.

oohh rant over, RL took over for a mo.

Back tomorrow.

RebeccaMumsnet · 24/02/2012 20:21

W8R2 in the bag.

Loving it still so so chuffed with myself.

We do need some sorta graduation don't we?

I am planning on the bridge to 10k... we will see.

RebeccaMumsnet · 26/02/2012 16:29

W8r3 done. 3 more runs until graduation!

I too find the first 5-10 mins the hardest and a few times I have felt like going home but have pushed though and tend to end up enjoying it ( most of the time)

I have been looking at the bridge to 10k today, anyone got it yet?

Envy of those finishing Monday, good luck and let us know how it goes!

Who else is thinking of bridge to 10?

RebeccaMumsnet · 26/02/2012 20:06

Well i've only gone and done it now, booked and paid for the 10K

Weblette fancy doing a 10k in June? Grin only half joking

RebeccaMumsnet · 26/02/2012 20:28

Do it, do it, do it...

Come on, who else... We can go for lunch after...

RebeccaMumsnet · 27/02/2012 09:54

@jchocchip

I'm back, I did it. I'm a graduate :) If I can do it anyone can! (given time and babysitters) Laura tells me I've got to run for 30 mins 3 times a week now. Guess I better continue and actually run 5k, 'cos I'm still too slow :( It feels great, if a bit sweaty! Time for a shower and off to work :)

RebeccaMumsnet · 04/03/2012 19:19

Supposed to graduate today, with one run to go ( have done W9R2) I have seriously fecked my knee Sad
I am hobbling around , it's so painful.
I did my last run when I had a small niggle, when I was running it felt fine so I just kept going and really enjoyed the run.
When I stopped I got home and stretched and it started to ache. Had to take DD to spend her birthday vouchers Grin and half way through I had to come home because I couldn't walk.
I am currently on the train on the way back to London Town and it blurdy hurts!

I think it is going to be a week rest job Sad gutted. And Goldie Hawn is coming in tomorrow and I wanted to look all nice and that but not sure that heels would be a good move Sad Grin

Gutted yet determined Smile

RebeccaMumsnet · 04/03/2012 20:03

I ignored it when it was groaning at me last week. I should've rested more but wanted to finish. That will teach me Grin

I used to teach aerobics many many moons ago in my yoof and my knees are sensitive to impact but I got good trainers and try to be careful. So annoying but it means I get to hang around here for a bit. I've signed up for a 10k so it better get better!

I may wear my shiny flats, no worries on the height thing, I am 5ft nothing Grin
