Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

Week 7 run 2 done, like others have said I also find the first 5 minutes the hardest, even though they're downhill Hmm

I'm tres impressed at you booking the 10k race, Rebecca, I'm planning on doing the 5k Race for Life, hopefully I'll be able to do 5k by then (only managing just over 3k atm).

JChocChip big well done on the weight loss, that's bloody marvellous. I am hoping to break the 20 stone barrier this week.

thestringcheesemassacre · 26/02/2012 21:30

well done everyone, amazing progress and results.
We'll need a (large) graduation thread soon.

noseynoonoo · 26/02/2012 21:40

Ooh, what's this bridge to 10k thing you're talking about. Am wondering what to do next. Do we need another thread.

Have Wk8 R3 tomorrow. I find 10-17 mins tough and then the last bit goes relatively quickly. Am still running v e r y s l o w l y.

cinnamongreyhound · 26/02/2012 21:49

Well done rusmum, knew you would do it!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/02/2012 21:51

Yes Jnice, W7 is 25mins, W8 is 28mins and W9 is 30 mins.

montague · 26/02/2012 22:33

Did week 4 run 3 today and even managed to run uphill !

Jnice · 26/02/2012 22:48

7.1 done Smile 4.7k including walks. Getting close! I went back to the podcast, loved Laura's encouraging words but the music just gets worse and worse!

nomorecake · 26/02/2012 22:59

week8run2 done. after a tough day. but turned on autopilot and just got out there.

somehow, I have managed to increase my pace and distance this week. managed 3.2k in week 7, but I got to 4k today!! yes!!

the musics an improvement on wk7 too.

I slowed down when struggling, and quickened my pace when feeling stronger.
(as someones DH up thread suggested)

only 4 runs to go until graduation! cant believe im still going! cant believe I got past week1!

anyone found bridge to 10k podcasts or running music worth trying yet?

i'm too Scaredy-Cat to sign up to the10k race.

jchocchip · 27/02/2012 06:52

Aargh, its light. I am going to get up and do my run before work!

Jnice · 27/02/2012 07:43

Yay! Get out there jchoc Grin

jchocchip · 27/02/2012 08:18

I'm back, I did it. I'm a graduate :) If I can do it anyone can! (given time and babysitters) Laura tells me I've got to run for 30 mins 3 times a week now. Guess I better continue and actually run 5k, 'cos I'm still too slow :( It feels great, if a bit sweaty! Time for a shower and off to work :)

weblette · 27/02/2012 09:04

Another mortarboard and diploma and Wine and Thanks winging their way to you jchocchip WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!

You're a bit too far away from me Rebecca but I'm signing up for the British 10k in London in July.

Happy running today folks, I'm on a conditioning day today, W8 starts tomorrow. Is the music better than W7?

ifink · 27/02/2012 09:06

Well done jchocchip!!! You are an inspiration

strawberrypie · 27/02/2012 09:29

Well done jchocchip!!! Brilliant stuff!

Corks champers for jchocchip
Well done, congratulations!!!

HellonHeels · 27/02/2012 10:19

Congratulations to all the graduates!

I've done W3 R2 but the calf injury is back :(

I don't know what to do with it can anyone advise?

noseynoonoo · 27/02/2012 10:40

Just finished W8 R3. Used an App for the first time. I used RunTastic.
It says over the full time, including the walks, I travelled 4.31km, ave speed 6.76km/h with a top speed of 7.28km/h. Next time I will just measure the running part so that I can work out how much faster I need to run to do 5K. It doesn't take a genius to work out I need to go considerably faster!

Jnice · 27/02/2012 11:34

Woohoo! Congrats jchocochip !

nomorecake · 27/02/2012 12:32

hellonheels sorry, no advice, have you had a look at running websites, you might find something there.

well done jchocchip!! wooooo!!!! good work!!

Aseaandthreestars · 27/02/2012 15:37

Cor, I go missing for a couple of weeks and some of you are finished! Well done, you week 9-ers must be so proud.

I've had a bit of injury/illness/mental burnout thing going on, but I think I'm on my way back. I went for a run with my trainer and she's told me that I run too fast, so I'm going to start again, but this time with some decent pacing. I'm struggling this week as I'm better running with a partner and DH is away on business. Moan, moan.

Hellonheels - are you doing any stretch/strength apart from running?

yehudiwho · 27/02/2012 17:37

congrats to chocchip and any other graduates I may have missed. but but but where is queenrunninggeekmum she started us and has gorn missing - since she had that bad run I cant remember seeing her - seek her out and send her back to us

turningitaround · 27/02/2012 17:52

Another proud c25k graduate here! (except not quite up to 5k yet, so I'll be sticking around on the thread for a while Smile).

Who'd thunk it this time two months ago? Am so impressed with all of us.

thestringcheesemassacre · 27/02/2012 17:54

Bravo turningitaround, awesome stuff.

Yes I hope Queenrunningmum is okay and comes back soon.

cocoachannel · 27/02/2012 18:48

Thanks for all of the encouragement ladies. Here goes....
