We will keep running the C25K

We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

I'm taking a second rest day today - my knee still not 100% :( Hope it will be ok tomorrow.
I can't decide what to do when Laura finishes!! I stupidly looked at bridge to 10k but that looks very scary Shock
Happy running today folks.

omydarlin · 23/02/2012 16:11

Well weblette from what I can gather it means not eating crap ie processed foods I don't think i'll be able to cut out all processed foods but I am definitely interested in cutting them out and yes that means low fat yoghurts and diet coke the slimmers friend - I need to look more into it I guess though.

MadeInScotlandFromGirders · 23/02/2012 18:16

Urgh just back from W4R2 and it was definalty a bad run, accidenlty re started programme just after the half way point and then felt like i was going be sick, so cut it short and walked home but run a short streach to see if i still felt sick (i did).

I ate 2 small pieces of chicken before i left as i hade plated dinner and was starving so i presume this is why i felt sick (lesson learnt there!).

Well will strive to do better on sunday.

RebeccaMumsnet · 23/02/2012 19:07

Have been forced into rest day two because of Too Much On My Plate syndrome

W8R2 tomorrow, can't blurdy wait but tonight I must sort my life out cook, clean, work, iron, wash, unpack, read stories, make lunch boxes and generally just breathe and maybe, if i'm lucky, i may get some sleep in.

oohh rant over, RL took over for a mo.

Back tomorrow.

spiderbabymum · 23/02/2012 19:09

W7R2 Done !
Paced myself this time . still hard but MUCH better ...I nearly threw up after the last Run ( stupidly went after dinner )
UNbelievably covered .4 K in 38 minutes !!!!!!

spiderbabymum · 23/02/2012 19:10

OOOpppppps 4.4 K in 38 minutes ( includes the 10 minutes walkin .

Onwards and Inwards ( referring to my belly )

arabellacaterpillar · 23/02/2012 19:50

Just back in from week 8 run 1 woohoo the end is in sight! I ran for 28 mins tonight I can hardly believe it!!
I am also thinking about what comes after graduation.....I don't want to stop because i'll never get started again but the move to 10k seems too much, don't really know what to do?

cinnamongreyhound · 23/02/2012 20:12

That's rubbish ManyMomentsofMadness and RebeccaMumsnet, hope both your problems are solved and you can go out tomorrow.

I look forward to your positive report Sunday MadeInScotlandFromGirders! At least you can recognise its just a bad run and not feel too defeated.

Well done Spiderbabymum!! I was really disappointed tonight that I only managed 4.2K and I did W9R1 so the full 30 mins :(

I will just be working on pace arabellacaterpillar! Would like to get somewhere near 5K in the run itself without the warm up walk!

I changed my route tonight and that was a welcome change although it seemed a long way I only covered 0.2K more in my extra 2 mins :(

Jnice · 23/02/2012 20:26

Hello fellow runners Grin

I found a great, free app called stretch & run which demonstrates exercises for injury prevention. Going to try some of the exercises later on.

cece · 23/02/2012 21:30

checking in to say w6r3 done and onto week 7 on Saturday.

MetalSian · 23/02/2012 21:36

I have been really bad.
My cold has almost cleared up and I still didn't run today.
Last run I did was last Thursday =o.
And I just feel like I can't be bothered.

Pretty useless really.

Well done everyone still going!

I would have been on W7R1 if I hadn't missed so many days.

FunnysInTheGarden · 23/02/2012 21:59

hello again. Did W6 R1 today and it was OK. I am very tired at the mo, shit week, and didn't get my usual running 'high'. But did it nonetheless.

MetalSian Tue 14-Feb-12 18:44:28

^I would say to everyone think positive as it really helps.
Think you can do it and it is so much better.^

It's time to take your own advice! :)

You only have to get yourself motivated for one half hour out of the day, and I'd bet that after that one run you'll have your mojo back! Go go go go!

LookMaOneHand · 23/02/2012 22:08

Funnys well done on getting out when it's the last thing you feel like doing! Lots of people (like me) found week 6 run 1 surprisingly tough to get through, after feeling great getting through the 20 minutes of w5r3.

I need to find some time in a very overscheduled Friday to do w8r1 tomorrow. I found week 7 hard going so I'm just hoping to get through it, not worrying about speed or distance yet.

nomorecake · 23/02/2012 22:25

hello all!

having a two day rest before starting week8 (actually quite excited about that!).

i'm only covering 3.2k at the moment in 25mins. so i think it will take me at least 40 mins to do 5k (urgh!).
So although i would love to move on 10k, i think it would be too soon. may look into it though...

so i think i will have to work on pace and try to acheive 5k in 30mins - and listen to my own music.
or maybe eventually complete a lap of the park.

would love to join a new thread though. but agree with OhMyDarlin bit bored with Shred and would prefer to be outside.
I've really enjoyed getting out the house (and being on my own for 30mins!).

FunnysInTheGarden · 23/02/2012 22:29

good luck with tomorrow OneHand and thanks for the support. I knew I could do it today but interested that others found it hard going too. Perhaps I was a tad lulled! It is good to run though, really clears the mind. Keep going folks!

jchocchip · 23/02/2012 22:29

Finally got to do week 9 run 1 at an unearthly hour this morning before work. I ran until Laura said half way and came back the same way and managed to get home just as the warm down finished! Think I'm still slow, but may be faster along by the canal rather than the river path as the mud was over my shoes at one point...

Stretch and run sounds interesting, will look for it later. The 5 minute warm up has proved enough for me so far as I haven't suffered hardly at all - I always thought I'd do myself an injury if I ran at my great weight but it is ok.

ifink · 24/02/2012 02:51

Wow lots of running going on. Week 4 run 1 done this morning on a hangover...never doing that again!!!!

jchocchip · 24/02/2012 08:24

well done ifink!

montague · 24/02/2012 10:34

Did week 4 run 1 again today as wasn't feeling like progressing on to run 3
Am still getting some calf pain when running which is annoying

Will attempt run 3 on Sunday after a day off on Saturday

omydarlin · 24/02/2012 10:38

Hello All,

On the last day of my tow day break -and not sure i'll be able to run tonight Sad been feeling a bit virussy on and off since Sunday and Tuesday night after my run developed a horrible ear ache/head ache. Husband is about to Divorce me as I have been so very grumpy. I finish work at 4.30 intend to get home and charge my ipod and go after fed DH but I am really dreading it. Think it may not be good and hurt.

HellonHeels · 24/02/2012 12:10

Hello all

Impressed with the running that's going down. Well done everyone. Unmotivated persons - come on, take one for the team and do your run.

My calf injury seems to have settled down; I'm still dealing with an annoying cold/cough that's been hanging around for two weeks but think I'll be doing W3 R2 tomorrow.

omydarlin · 24/02/2012 13:59

feel better nurofen seems to be working better than decongestant gets rid of the swelling maybe??

Besides I have to run tonight as I bought these yesterday hot neon pink running socks

I will report back! Hello Hellonheels hope your run goes ok tomorrow!

UphillBothWays · 24/02/2012 14:09

Checking in for the first time in weeks! I've just been getting on with it really. Did week 6 run 1 today. I've struggled a bit with pacing myself. When I did W5R3 (20 min run) I went slooooowly so as not to tire myself out but that meant I covered quite a bit less distance than I had doing intervals which was a bit demoralising (I have an app on my phone called iMapMyRun which tells me the stats).

But still, the end is in sight and I'm feeling good :)

rusmum · 24/02/2012 15:16

Why can't I do w4? Today for first 2 runs ok! Did half of 2nd 3 mins and lost control of breathing. Thought I was having a panic attack. Took till 1 min into ladWink 5 min walk to regain control! Blush do ran 2 mind of that then dies again. Any advice on conquering this week? Grin next out sun pm
