Sorry chaps, my thinking cap is busted. Best title I could manage tonight!

Loads of comfy chairs in here, bowls of fruit, and lots of superfree veggies to snack on Wink

So, settle in, have a natter, and let's show the lard who's boss!

I've been lax in posting my food diaries of late, so here's one for today:

Ham, eggs, banana, plum
baked potato, cottage cheese, mushrooms, courgette
Beef canneloni (inc HEa + prob 3 syns for extra cheese) and salad
grapes
2 alpen light bars (HEb)

Might snack some more, but will try to keep it free...

Cheeseandbiscuits · 20/02/2012 21:13

I think the syns are there to help people stick to the diet so they absorb a bit of cheating.

kid · 20/02/2012 22:06

I figured there must be a reason why I am having such lousy losses. Even on the first week of SW I only lost 2lb. I know thats the ideal loss but I'd have expected more on a first week of dieting.

I do agree that the syns prevent you from cheating. Because I had the quavers and kitkat today, I feel like I've had a treat so don't need anything else sweet to snack on. It hasn't been easy though as DD was eating biscuits today and I really, really, really wanted some but I didn't.

I had to switch the meatballs for burgers as they meatballs had to be left for an hour to absorb the flavours. I had 20 minutes to make dinner! I need to sort out tomorrows dinner. Why can't I be organised?!

Hedgepig · 20/02/2012 22:26

Cos you've got a job, kids to organise, dogs to walk a house to sort out etc etc, it's blooming hard fitting it all in Kid, I have flurries of organisation interspersed with mushroom omelettes Grin

Thanks for you supportive comments ladies, I do feel like I'm giving up but on the other hand I feel a lot calmer and more in in control than I have in weeks. I spoke to my SW consultant and it's not a problem resetting the target

kid · 20/02/2012 23:22

Its a good idea to reset the target. You can always reset it again in the future if you wanted to.

I decided not to set a target but thats easy for me as I don't attend group. I would love to be below a certain weight but for now, my target is not to gain anymore weight!

I have weighed in today seeing as I started SW yet again. I have gained 1lb since my last weigh in. I'm ucky it was 1stone with all the rubbish I've been eating! But, lets see if I can magically shift that 1lb and maybe another 1 if I'm really lucky by DoD.
Opps, forgot to organise meals for tomorrow. Instead of meal planning, I decided to catch up on the last 3 episodes of eastenders.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 21/02/2012 08:35

A loss is a loss is a loss kid. Dieting is easier when it's just yourself to think about!

I've got today off, lovely! And it's pancake day! I might try making those SW ones, or do you think they will be grim?

Food:
B: melon and yog
L: roasted veg couscous, chicken salad
D: roast chicken, SW roasties veg and a couple of syns for gravy.
Heb: 2x alpen light
HEA: milk in tea and coffee

grinningbee · 21/02/2012 08:56

Morning all!

Hope you have a lovely day off today Cheese. Kid I didn't think I'd been that bad over the last few days, and am thoroughly hacked off this morning. Not sure I can admit it Sad. It seems to land back on with a wallop when I stray.

Ds is still hacking and wheezing, dd still coughing like crazy. I feel rubbish.

Here's a question for you. If you found out someone you knew had pretended to be dead to get out of paying a debt, what would you think? And that they'd sent an email pretending to be their own non-existent brother?

I'll be VERY interested to see what you guys think to that.

Got left over piri piri pork for tea (yum yum) but there are some hot cross buns lurking in the kitchen...

At least it's a sunny day Smile

Huffpot · 21/02/2012 09:11

Oh how lovely for you to have the day off Cheese

Gosh Kid working mums deserve nothing but credit in my book

I'm very lucky to be home with my boys while they're little but it just wasnt practical to go back to work with the cost of childcare and my pathetic wages and inflexible employers....but I'm still disorganised!

Thanks for the cyst sympathy earlier :-D
It's 4cm and have had it nearly a year now. when i had the surgery 2 years ago nearly the surgeon burnt out quite a few others so he may have missed this one.
Am quite happy to be getting rid of it though as it bothers me much more than the last one....our only negative is that I'll lose more of my ovary so may have trouble getting pregnant as we'd really like to try for a little girl but if its meant to be it will
had a big breaky as am off to playgroup with the beasts so an hour walk there and back so won't be home till 2-ish probably

Now food today:
B: omlette with vegies and wedges(need that carb fix)
L: cous cous and veg
D: OH wants pancakes so am.going to try the SW ones too Cheese

Cheeseandbiscuits · 21/02/2012 10:01

Enjoy your pancakes huffers. I was thinking sod it, we'll have normal pancakes but I've been so norty lately I just can't justify it. I'm so much better at sticking to the diet when I'm at work!

bee I'd be very suspicious TBH. It's quite sly and conniving. Was it for a lot of money? Why do you ask? Glad your family are improving, I'm hacking away here.

Right we had better be off to soft play!

grinningbee · 21/02/2012 10:52

I bought a normal packet of pancake mix. According to the SW website, each pancake (it makes 8) is 2 syns each. So a sprinkle of lemon juice and sweetener won't add anything to it.

Sly and conniving... yep. Pretty much what I thought. And devious, and low. Need I tell you who it is about? I'm sure you can guess. I also don't know how many times it's been done. The one I know about was a few hundred. There has to be something wrong with a person to make them think it's ok, surely?

Riapwhatyousow · 21/02/2012 11:50

very very dodgy bee, not to mention possibly something that once done, doesn't go away, unless you actually are dead IYSWIM? if it's traceable etc. not something I would like to be pondering on.

Riapwhatyousow · 21/02/2012 11:51

sorry, reading that back it doesn't quite say what I meantBlush

time for work Sad

Riapwhatyousow · 21/02/2012 13:43

have you mentioned that situation before bee? (not prying, just seems familiar)

kid · 21/02/2012 13:47

bee, that's awful to pretend to be dead to get out paying a debt. I assume its a private loan rather than through a bank as they'd ask for proof.
Sounds like an avoidance tactic which means they aren't facing up to the problem. If they don't face up to it, they will never deal with it or overcome it.

I'm still being organised at home, dinner is defrosting so I don't need to think about what to cook. My house is still looking lovely and i only spent 1/2 hour cleaning the kitchen and sweeping last night.

I've booked gym for Thursday, Sunday and Monday. I plan to go, let's hope I stick to it.

Todays food:
B: weetabix, mixed berries, milk.
L: wholemeal roll, chicken, cucumber.
3 clementines, miller light and quavers.
D: quick pork stir fry
Mullerlight
Fruit.

kid · 21/02/2012 20:04

For dinner tonight, I made the quick pork stir fry and it was so lovely. A little bit of chopping different things but totally worth it. I've never tasted such a lovely stir fry in my life!

I've made a potato and spring greens tortilla for tomorrows lunch and I'm going to make spinach and sweet potato dhal tomorrow for dinner. So far, all the things I've cooked have been lovely and DH has enjoyed them too.

DoD tomorrow, ekk!

debka · 21/02/2012 21:41

Evening all,

I've been so off SW this week you even fell off Threads I'm On Blush. I've been stupidly bad, not enjoyed it in the slightest, felt crap about my lack of control and given myself the shits. Lovely. Group tonight where I gained 1.5lb but got my mojo back hopefully, I feel a lot more motivated now.

bee you have so much sympathy from me. My DH is difficult, and sometimes I wonder why I stick with him, so I have a small idea of where you are coming from, but your H seems to get just worse and worse. I am so sorry you are living with someone like that. It is so easy to just say Leave the bastard but life is not that simple is it. Children, commitments, family, money, even love- so many ties. Sending a hug :(

Food-
B- bacon, egg, fruit
L- roast veg and turkey soup, more fruit, something else, maybe some crisps?
D- turkey risotto, muller light
S- 2 weetabix after my run

debka · 21/02/2012 21:43

kid can you link to the stir fry recipe? Sounds gorgeous.

kid · 21/02/2012 21:59

I will post the recipe tomorrow. Its out of an old SW magazine. Its a red day and according to the recipe, it serves 4 and is 1 syn per serving. I shared it between 3, DH got 2 portions, I got 1 portion so I'd count the syns as 2 max.

I'm going to be making it again but I think I'll try it with chicken.

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/02/2012 22:49

Evening all. Busy busy day sorting stuff for a friend who had exciting and urgent news!

Burnt my finger badly on some spitting boiling soup at lunchtime (I was blending it with a stick blender whilst it was on a hot hob) and had to keep an ice pack on it for the following 8 hours! Seems to be ok without ice now thank goodness.

Is the Pimp due back soon anyone know?

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/02/2012 22:52

food diary:

ham, eggs, 2 plums, 1/2 banana
soup (leftover broccoli, sprouts and some mushrooms, with a dollop of blue cheese (1/3 of a HEa) to hide all the other flavours!)
2 alpen light bars
chicken korma (from the sw curries book - was nice) and rice, with a cucumber and red onion salad. cherries, mango

Hedgepig · 21/02/2012 23:20

Ouch to your finger CSWS, I am really bad about blending things that I should have left to cool too. Your food today sounds nice.

I had lunch at sainsburys today and had a baked potato with tuna and sweetcorn , my goodness it was vile soooo much mayo gloop mixed in with it I had to scrape it off and just eat the spud and the salad, I have come a long way ladies Grin this time last year I would have scoffed the lot.

kid · 21/02/2012 23:30

hmmm, I love mayo so I reckon I would have just scoffed the lot!

I am really worried about a pain in my leg. I try justifying to myself that it can't be anything nasty as the pain first started 6 months ago and nothings happened to me yet, but just lately the pain has been getting much worse. Its been there most of the day today and I literally feel like crying. I've taken ibuprofen but its done nothing at all.
I've made a drs appt but they can't see me for 2 weeks. I guess I am concerned that its a blood clot.
Come and tell me I'm being an idiot. Surely a blood clot wouldn't just sit there doing nothing for 6 months? I've no experience of it but this pain just can't be normal. Oh yeah, don't forget that I'm a big wimp!

kid · 21/02/2012 23:32

csws I hope your finger is a bit better. Burns are nasty and even when you think its okay, just putting warm water can bring the pain straight back!

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/02/2012 23:34

I don't think a blood clot would just sit there for 6 months kid, but you need cheese for this! Whereabouts in your leg? Could it be sciatica (bum and down backs/sides of legs ime)?

kid · 21/02/2012 23:39

The pain is in my thigh, just above my knee and only in that one leg. The pain isn't constantly there, it usually comes if I'm sitting down or standing around (never during exercise and it never wakes me up)

Its really hard to describe the pain but it feels like it moves in waves across/up and down a small area of my leg.

There is no swelling, I have no temperature, there was no injury before the pain started, no discolouration. I first noticed it on holiday last year (Cyprus)
I did the NHS website tonight and it came back that they needed to do the call back but I didn't bother. I'm not sure I can wait 2 weeks to see the Dr but thats only because today its been really painful.

I'm sure its nothing major but its hard not to worry as it can't be normal.
