Sorry chaps, my thinking cap is busted. Best title I could manage tonight!

Loads of comfy chairs in here, bowls of fruit, and lots of superfree veggies to snack on Wink

So, settle in, have a natter, and let's show the lard who's boss!

Can people please prevent me from WI early? I don't know why I bother doing it as its never what I want it to be. Plus, why would be it ever be a good idea to WI in the evening?

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 22:17

Kid STOP WEIGHING IN EARLY YOU MANIAC!!!!

How was that?! I am such a hypocrite: I weigh in about 4 times a week Blush

FoD that is VERY interesting. I wonder how our respective height/weight compares, and level of activity...might have to PM you later!

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/02/2012 22:30

I still beat you tsp - I weigh in about 4 times a day Blush.

Maybe you could add more bulk to your diet plan tsp - more veg so that your body has stuff to work on throughout the day.

I have got myfitnesspal too now, to see what it's all about. It said I could only have about 1300 cals to lose 2lbs per week, so i switched my target to 1.5lbs a week and i am now allowed 1560. I have entered my sw food into the diary yesterday and today, and both days I have had more than allowed Hmm. Good job I burned 748 cals at the gym today.

kid · 06/02/2012 22:31

Cheers TSP, hopefully I won't WI again until DoD.
One good outcome of WI early is, it put me off eating another slice of banana loaf!

LakeFlyPie · 07/02/2012 00:25

Evening Smile

Just a quick one as evidently I'm not doing too well on the going to bed early front.

Think I'm doing OK foodwise (just about), had a dubious day today as out to lunch at friend's house (4 cheese tortellini and pesto) and DS and I baked biscuits to take along of which I ate several.

Have finally joined gym which I've been wanting to do for ages but waiting until was back on payroll as wasn't able to justify the expense whilst on unpaid mat leave.
Have managed 2 swims already since saturday, had forgotten how much I love it; so relaxing just to plough up and down the pool for half an hour. Really clears my head and the 20 mins in the steam room afterwards is quite nice too Smile

Need to have a really strict couple of days as going to visit my DSis for 4 days on weds and won't have any control over menu. Will be able to shop for a load of fruit to breakfast and snack on, but think damage limitation will be the name of the game.
Running around after 4 DC under the age of 4 (hers and mine) should help on both the calorie burning and early night front Grin

Big waves to all, see you on DOD if not before....

Cheeseandbiscuits · 07/02/2012 08:06

Morning all!

I am raging. Today is my day off and I've got to drag DD and I into work to show them yet another proof of idea so I can get the card that gives me access to all the computers and patients records. I've essentially been full time since I started and I am pissed off.

Anyway rant over. New rant. I'm crap at dieting. I have no will power at the moment and I'm struggling. The weekend was another disaster. Dh is working the next 3 weekends so I have a chance to get back on track. When we are both off together for the weekend, it's v rare so we 'treat' ourselves. I always go over the top and have wine AND takeaway. AngryAngryAngry

Anyway, whats this I hear about people weighing in on days other than the Day of Doom . We all know it's inaccurate. So tsp don't despair. Have you measured yourself yet?

lake well done on joining the gym. I've been crap going recently. Have fun at your sisters!
tsp how's the project going? It's biggest loser tonight!
bee hope all is OK. Still feeling a bit nauseous about brown seam Grin
hedge loving the fact you go to bed to avoid thr biscuit tin. I always make DD banana muffins as I hate banana!
kid v impressed with the long walk to work.
huffpot you deserve a medal with your MIL! Blimey. Does she help out around the house etc?

grinningbee · 07/02/2012 08:38

Good morning everyone!

Cheese surely they are taking the widdle? Angry on your behalf. And you are not crap at dieting, you've got a lot on at the mo. Once it all settles down, you'll get back in the swing of it. Sorry for the continuing nausea Wink. I could make it worse, but I won't. Ha ha ha.

Lake Have a good time! 4 under 4? .

It's my weigh in day today. I also have to admit, I'm a serial weigher. It's not just every day either... it's several times Blush. I can't help it!

Food for the day:

Ready brek, 1 x ryvita with 1 tsp jam (1/2 syn), banana
Mushroom omelette, fruit and a yogurt
Sweet chilli chicken with lots of roasted veggies, 2 slices hobbit bread

I'm having a few low syn and no wine days. Need to get back to the way the losses were going in the run up to Christmas.

OP posts:
TheScarlettPimpernel · 07/02/2012 09:33

Cheese what an absolute ARSE. I'd be fuming like a kettle on the hob. Didn't you have to trek all the way up to Manchester the other day? Taking the widdle indeed...

And I second what Bee says re. trying to be super virtuous while having such a lot on. Actually, you know what, you could argue that having a lovely relaxing time with The Light of Your Life and Joy of Your Soul etc. etc. is more important than the loss of 2lb that particular week, IYSWIM.

I'm at work but frantically trying to work out Next Steps for my academic career. I have just emailed the Heads of Dept asking them to support an application for post doc funding taht is due in 1 month and 1 day Grin. There is not a hope in Hell of that going ahead and, in fact, I have probably now pissed them off so royally that they will excommunicate me from academe henceforth Grin

kid · 07/02/2012 13:07

It's so lovely to be able to drive again. I was only without my car for 1 day but that was enough.

My washing machine has been leaking and my laminate flooring is more or less ruined. I'll have to assess the damage at the weekend as i can't do anything about it before then.

kid · 07/02/2012 17:23

Who votes for skipping DoD this week? Grin
I feel like I've gained so I vote for no WI! It is star week though so perhaps I should just sulk accept a gain?

I have been so good as well (apart from 2 slices of banana loaf) I've counted syns, stuck to plan yet I don't feel any different. I doubt the scales will show a loss, seeing as I had a peek the other night and wasn't impressed. I hate dieting Sad

Lightshines · 07/02/2012 17:26

i thought i hadn't lost a thing when i WI last week, but i had - its impossible to tell, kid!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 07/02/2012 17:49

Lightshines who are you?

Had a busy day and DD has her molars coming through so is super grumpy / clingy. Must be bedtime soon?

kid · 07/02/2012 19:40

Disaster in the kitchen tonight, had to have a takeaway. Seriously, I had to have it as we flooded the kitchen, blew the electricty and spent over an hour ripping up the destroyed laminated flooring.
I still need to put the kitchen back in order, its going to be a long night.

SlinkyB · 07/02/2012 21:34

Just a quickie.

cheese Work sounds a nightmare Angry. Dd has molars already?! T is still cutting his front teeth, is super dribbly. Agree you are not crap at dieting, just busy and human.

Hedge keep meaning to thank you for the tip about changing view on MN to pages - tablet thingy is much faster now but still not very.

kid Eeek about your kitchen, but am Envy about your take-away - every cloud and all that.

tsp Hope theatre was good and I am seriously rooting for you to lose some weight on tomorrow's DoD.

.

kid · 07/02/2012 21:43

Cheese shame you can't add up the house they have made you waste so you can claim some overtime or take the time off as owing. If only that were possible.

Argh @ the kitchen. I have just sat down after sorting out the kitchen, its a total wreck. I've thrown 3 bin bags out of damaged things (boxes, cleaning products which are no good to anyone soggy, books etc). I also swept the room twice which is not easy when its still wet and I've also scrubbed the entire floor so its sparkly clean now. Well as sparkly clean as old, manky flooring can be!
I reckon I have worked off the takeaway by now.
If I'd had a green day, I'd have been okay. But I decided to try and do more red days so today was meant to be a red day but it went wrong.

I had:
B: Weetabix (b), milk (a)
L: Jacket potato (b), tuna, onion, 1tbsp light mayo (3syns?)
D: Chicken chowmein.
Snack: 2 satsumas, 1 thin slice of banana loaf.

It doesn't look too bad written down but I feel so full up. I was eyeing up the banana loaf while I was cleaning the kitchen but the floor was wet and I couldn't quite reach it. I didn't want to make the floor dirty again so I've left it and don't even fancy a bit now.

I am expecting a gain tomorrow but I know I'll be gutted as I had mainly great days this week.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 07/02/2012 22:19

I know, it's bloody annoying. Sorry to hear about your leaky kitchen, all fixed?

I don't mind doing the list tomorrow, it will force me to face up to the damage I've done.
Food tomorrow is:
B: porridge and berries
L: chicken, rice and salad. Fruit
D: Singapore vermicelli

TheScarlettPimpernel · 07/02/2012 22:32

Oh dear, bit of a gloomy day all round, fellows Sad

Hope you're not paddling still, Kid.

Cheesy thanks for listing again. If I have not lost anything, I am NOT going to have a strop. I shall just conclude that for whatever MENTALIST reasons calorie counting doesn't work on the Pimpernel flab, and I will do a week of SW (I know it in and out and back to front and upside down, and have the book), and see What Gives. In fact I might do that anyway, just for the funz.

Thanks for the rooting, Slinky :) Theatre was OK - not one of the best, but I do heart Reece Shearsmith and there was some hilariously awful 70s fashion/interior design!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 08/02/2012 07:30

Happy Day of Doom, everyone Grin

well, I have lost 2lb. This is fine, in itself, but looking at my stats I am only losing weight every other week, and I am not managing to average 2lb a week (not that I am not asking for Biggest Loser type losses, just a manageable 2lb ... and not this every other week bollocks!)

SO I am wondering if calorie counting is not, just now, the way to go, so I am going to do a week of SW and see what happens. I am slightly annoyed because SW makes me feel like a norty norty fat girl that has to be good - bloody Muller Lights! Stupid hobbit bread! - but if it gets me to my targets, then it's worth the angst.

I shall be buying the SW mag on the way home from work :)

Today is a bit of a 'day off', but the only 'treat' will be that I cook a dessert for a pal coming to supper - it won't be an all-day binge. Then tomorrow, onto SW, and it's Singapore vermicelli noodles and dippy eggs a go go!

Hedgepig · 08/02/2012 08:55

hoot well done TSP, I have stated eating muller lights too and finally see the point they sit on your stomach like a leaden balloon and stop you feeling hungry (they taste crap though)

TheScarlettPimpernel · 08/02/2012 08:58

Fanks Hedge. Nice not to be in a gigantic strop for once Grin Hope you have a good weigh in!

I think I need to get over my hatred of SW. Well - it's not hatred zackly, it's just that I feel like I'm dieting. And Muller Lights are indeed like sour, astringent lumps. And I do NOT approve of artificial sweeteners . But I guess I don't have to have them - Total 0% and some berries should do the trick.

My aversion to going back on SW is ridiculous. After all I did once lose 3.5 stone on it Hmm. I think I am scarred because after that I tried 2 or 3 times to lose weight on SW and didn't, but I suspect my heart/head wasn't in it, whereas this time round I am nothing if not bitterly determined.

grinningbee · 08/02/2012 09:14

Good morning!

TSP Yay for the 2lb loss! Bitter determination is a good thing. That's what is getting me to do it properly this time.

I'm on the fat free Activia yogurts at the moment, as the ML are so blinking expensive. I do get them when they're on offer though. I quite like them Blush.

Going to sit and work out my shopping list in a bit, as I've seen the weather we're due tomorrow night and Friday. I feel the need to stock up!

Food for the day:

Little bit of porridge (almost out), ryvita and 1 tsp lemon curd (1 syn), banana
Roasted veg omelette, fruit and a yogurt
Quorn chilli and rice, 2 slices hobbit bread

I'm hoping that by next week, the last of the Xmas weight I put on will be gone. I don't think I shall be going quite so mad next time...

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 08/02/2012 09:22

well done tsp!

bee - if you get Gales lemon curd it is only 1/2 syn per tsp. :)

dd's 6th birthday today. I shall be having cake Grin. It is at least one of my home made coconut cakes which contains courgette instead of fat. Let's not mention the jammy filling and the coconut icing.

grinningbee · 08/02/2012 09:25

Oooh, thanks CSWS and Happy Birthday to your dd! Hope you all have a lovely day.

OP posts:
FriendofDorothy · 08/02/2012 10:53

I can't bear ML yogurts. I think they taste horribly synthetic. I much prefer the Activia Fat-Free ones.

Hedgepig · 08/02/2012 11:03

I've been eating the Activia ones but got bored with them and so have gone for the choc sprinkle MLs as they already taste so artificial i don't think of them as yogs (does that make any sense)

Ladies I have a serious question, DH is getting quite portly in his dotage Grin he really needs to loose weight (especially since his dad died of a heart attack when DH was only 21) are any of your DHs/DPs/Hs? following SW with you ? His main problem is night time munchies, a pile of biscuits before bed etc He thinks he just needs to exercise more but I think the diet is a key. I'm not sure what my question is really just need to work through an idea to help him, he does want to loose weight
